Death Proof photocall at Cannes

The photocall for the film Death Proof looked like a fun reunion for the stars and directors. Quentin Tarantino premiered a longer version of the film at Cannes, which was shown without its sister film in the Grindhouse release, Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror. It featured extended scenes, more dialogue and new scenes, including one in which Kurt Russell gets a lapdance.

The film was praised and cheered in Cannes, where it is in competition.

Tarantino says it’s an honor to be at Cannes and called winning the coveted Palme d’Or in 1994 for Pulp Fiction the “proudest moment of my career

Tarantino said of being at the world-famous film festival: “To me it’s always been Mount Olympus. To be a favourite son of Cannes is an honour, it;s where the gods go, where the greatest films ever get their first screenings”, adding that winning the Palme d’Or was the “proudest moment of my career”.

[Kurt] Russell said he was “disappointed” that the audience “won’t get the Grindhouse experience”, adding: “That’s what it’s about for me. There won’t be anything there like this for the next five years.

Shown at the photocall are Quentin Tarantino, Rose McGowan cozying up to Robert Rodriguez (she is said to have been an influence in the breakup of his marriage), Kurt Russell, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, and Zoe Bell. Thanks to Photorazzi for these pictures.
