Elizabeth and Rosie get into a loud argument

Here’s a video from “The View” on Wednesday that you may have already seen where Rosie and Elizabeth get into a heated argument.

Joy makes a lot of excellent points at the beginning of this video. She reads aloud specific issues that Al Gore brings up in his book about how Bush is the worst president ever. This was clear to me during his first term when he was trumping up the case for his unprovoked neverending war with fake intelligence. She’s right that the country should be outraged. (However she does say that we pay too much attention to entertainment, which I would heartily defend.)

Then Hasselbeck is trying to get her opinion in. She is one of those half-baked “I believe the hype” conservatives and tries to say that our “enemies” are in Iraq and that Al Qaeda is there, even though that’s consistently been disproven. Rosie asks her “did Iraq attack us?” because of course they didn’t and of course there were no WMDs in that country. (And even if there were there is no provision in the Constitution for preemptive war.)

Hasselbeck tries to makes a dumb ass football analogy about staying the course or something, and Rosie says “If the enemies are innocent civilians I don’t want to play that kind of football.”

Then Rosie says “Big fat lesbian loud Rosie attacks innocent pure Christian Elizabeth,” to make a point about how the news shows are protraying her as a bully.

Next they get into a loud argument about a past comment that Rosie made saying “who are the terrorists?” when she said that 650,000 people were dead in Iraq.

Elizabeth gets all emotional and bitchy and Rosie asks her if she believed what the Republican pundits were saying about how Rosie called the troops terrorists. Elizabeth gets really loud and doesn’t give her a direct answer as to whether she thinks Rosie was calling the troops terrorists. They argue back and forth about it loudly for minutes, with Elizabeth getting visibly upset.

I was really impressed with Rosie because she stays calm and even spoken about it. She was just asking Elizabeth a simple question, and she never answered it.

From what I could gather, Rosie was making a point that over half a million innocent civilians have died. She wasn’t saying that the troops were terrorists, she was saying look at how many innocent people have been killed in the war.

Here’s the video, thanks to US Weekly:

Elizabeth blew off the whole thing when asked about it afterwards, saying they’re friends, she’s fine and that “We are used to debating things there. You have women who care a lot about things.”

Rosie is off The View in three weeks, and will not be on today. On her blog she mentioned that it is her partner Kelli’s 40th birthday. She blogged that it was
“a split screen
new heights
or lows
depending on who u ask.”

It was a new high for Rosie if you ask me.
