Teresa Giudice’s lawyer: ‘This is a very strong family & they’re going to be fine’

Teresa Giudice checked into federal prison early Monday morning to begin serving her 15 month sentence for fraud. She is doing time at the Federal Correctional Institution in Danbury, Connecticut, where Orange is The New Black writer Piper Kerman was incarcerated. Details of Teresa’s lead up to prison include the fact that she took a ski vacation with her family, celebrated her daughter’s 14th birthday early, ate her final meal on the outside at a diner near the prison, and was “stoic” and “somber,” as was her husband, Joe. I would assume Joe was just terribly hungover or drunk. The time for being stoic and somber was when she first filed for bankruptcy, but that time has long since passed.

As for how Teresa will pass the time now that she’s in prison, her lawyer told E! that she hopes to work in the kitchen “because she’s obviously a good cook.” Good luck with that. If I learned anything from OITNB, it’s that kitchen jobs are earned by connections and Teresa has none. Teresa’s lawyer also said that his client “will take it one day at a time.” He said her last words were “tell everyone I will be fine.” As for how Joe is doing, he said that he’s “fine,” and that “this is a very strong family.” Here’s more, thanks to E!, where you can see videos of Teresa’s lawyer. It’s possible Teresa will be out in 13 months, around December.

Teresa Giudice has been incarcerated for a mere 48 hours, but her attorney, James L. Leonard Jr., already has an optimistic attitude about the reality star’s 15-month sentence.

“I think she hopes to turn it into something positive,” Leonard told E! News exclusively.

“She indicated that if she had her choice to work she would like to work in the kitchen facility because she’s obviously a good cook.”

He explained that Teresa’s outlook is “to take it one day at a time” and that she was in upbeat spirits before arriving at the Danbury Federal Correction Institution in the wee hours of Monday morning.

“This is a very strong family and they’re going to be fine,” Leonard explained…

“He told me that obviously it was a difficult day but that everybody was doing OK. He’s a strong man, very strong family man, and a good father.”

Leonard also spoke about the exact length of time that the Real Housewives of New Jersey star is set to face…

“Our projections are that if nothing changes with her sentence she should be released sometime in early December.”

And Joe, who faces his sentence term after his wife, will report in March of 2016.

“There will certainly be an overlap where they will be together, which will be taxing on him and the girls.”

But Brown says that he remains optimistic about the entire Giudice family’s spirits during these tough times.

“These are very strong people and they’re going to get through this.”

[From E! Online]

This guy is parroting the Giudice family line. “Everything is fine.” That’s how they got into this mess and continued to dig a deeper hole without ever bothering to take stock. Sometimes things are not fine but they’re incapable of admitting that. Teresa’s lawyer also told E! that she will be allowed to make phone calls and email from prison.

Incidentally, this is Teresa’s new lawyer. She fired her last bankruptcy attorney and is suing him for $5 million, because none of this is Teresa or Joe’s fault. She also attacked her crisis manager last fall for telling her that jail was inevitable. The crisis manager later quit and issued a public statement denouncing Teresa. So now they have a guy who is tell the press that everything is fine. That’s all he’ll ever say or the Giudices will turn on him too.

I do hope Teresa is ok in prison but I also hope that she learns some humility. I also hope her daughters get some better role models and have a responsible adult caring for them. They don’t have much chance if their only guardian is alcoholic Joe.

She’s lucky that hairline isn’t a crime. She’d be a lifer. God, these people.

    • mimif says:

Think of how much money she saves on botox tho.

    • ITOA says:

      hahahahahahaha…..

    • Katey says:

Honestly, with how vain and selfish she is, why hasn’t she lasered off some of that hair? Kim Kardashian did it for vanity reasons, you’d think this broad would want to look her best!

      • looseal says:

Laser on head hair wouldn’t work. I have a low hairline and I looked into it. The best option is a brow lift. Can give about an extra 1/2 inch to the forehead.

How do these people who have no $ live like they have $? Please someone help me understand how a person who is supposedly at less than zero in the world of $ is taking a damn ski vacation? Where does this $ come from!!!??

    • Loopy says:

I asked that the other day, but apparently filing for bankruptcy does not mean you have zero. They continue to live the high life it is insane.

      • Joy says:

I don’t know much about declaring bankruptcy, but the general idea I have is that you are legally stating that you can’t pay your bills such as mortgage, etc. I remember being a kid and some people we knew declared bankruptcy and the way my mom talked about it you would have thought they had all declared themselves murderers of small children or something! I just figured if you legally declare that you can’t pay bills, maybe you move into a small apartment, start buying the generic brand of soda and what not. But I’m poor so I can’t grasp these things.

I’m totally sick of this woman and her distorted view of reality. I’m wondering how “humble” she will be in prison? When will she start her table tossing antics? This woman will never change. I literally cannot stand her.

  4. maeliz says:

Whatever she ends up doing in jail, Wendy Williams will find out and let everyone know. That’s the only way I know who she is. Wendy talks about her nonstop

  5. aims says:

She still doesn’t get it and if you don’t humility, then the lesson is lost.

  6. Gina says:

They’re a strong family my butt. They are a couple of loud-mouthed, fame whores who thought they were above the law. I am so happy that justice has been done…but not so happy she will continue to garner attention while in prison which I’m sure will work its way back to Andy Cohen and company to keep her name alive. I thought Juicy Joe was supposed to get deported. I know, they feel sorry for their children. I pity them as well, but for different reasons.

  7. savu says:

I’m really disgusted by this woman, but I am concerned that the limelight could put her in danger in prison. It could make her an easy target, which would suck. I hope the guards make an effort to keep her as safe as any other woman there.

I hope grandparents step in or something for those girls. They do have beautiful kids who deserve better than the two parents they’ve got (even though Teresa seems pretty hands on with them.) They deserve parents who will teach them about responsibility and consequences.

And I really don’t like this woman so don’t ask me why I feel concerned for her. Because I have no answer.

    • V4Real says:

She will be fine. It’s a federal prison and it’s not like she’s going to be around murders. Remember Martha Stewart went to Federal prison which was more like a spa resort for her.

That last picture frightens me. Must look away.

  9. Neelyo says:

And by ‘turn it into something positive’, the lawyer means she’s hoping for a book deal. She won’t learn shit because Andy Cohen will be waiting outside with cameras and she’ll be back on Bravo, acting as if jail was just a sidetrack from her well deserved and earned fame.

I can’t believe this woman has fans. I only watched one season of RHONJ and she was bigoted, stupid and mean. But I guess that describes the Real Housewives’ core audience.

And holy shit, her daughter’s wearing the whole Clinique counter in that photo. Way to age yourself fifteen years.

  10. lucy2 says:

Doesn’t she have to serve 80% of her 15 months? That’s 12 months. How would she get out in early December, that would only be 11?

She’ll turn on this lawyer too, as soon as his bills start to pile up. And as soon as she’s out, she’ll go right back to the way she was before. I’m disgusted that they’re still living like nothing has changed,

    • tarheel says:

80-90% of Fed sentences, even with perfect behavior. It’ll be January or February 2016.

Whatever. I pay my taxes and don’t have much respect for people who think they shouldn’t have to. Just makes the burden on the rest of us that much more severe. Enjoy your ramen.
