Those are the most unflattering photos of Ruth Wilson I’ve ever seen.
Also, she needs to fire her stylist.

  2. Abbott says:

Congrats to Kellan Lutz! It’s your time to shine, buddy!

  3. Me says:

Henry Cahill and Paris Hilton are dating? Whattttttt?

  4. tifzlan says:

I love Ellen. And Conchita killed it, idk what you’re talking about?!

  5. greenmonster says:

    I love Ellen – I guess I fell for her agenda 😉

  6. Mia4S says:

Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt & Christian Bale will do a movie together.

Shut up and take my money.

(And I’m not even really a fan of Pitt or Gosling. This is fascinating though!)

    • Rhiley says:

I bet there will be a lot of drama on the set. I have a feeling Brad Pitt is not going to get on with Christian Bale.

      • FLORC says:

I bet they will make fast friends. Bale is an aquired taste long term, but over the course of a movie and in small bursts he’s extremely likable and endearing. His wife is said to be awesome and a saint for being with him and his movie prep.

      • I wouldn’t be surprised if they were friendly and had spent time with each other’s families. Angelina would’ve known Sibi from Girl, Interrupted (she was Winona’s assistant), and they seemed friendly on the BAFTAs RC last year. But maybe they’ll clash on the movie set–who knows though.

      • Mia4S says:

You’re likely wrong @RHILEY. They already know each other. Several outlets pointed out at the Oscars last year that Pitt and Jolie were embracing Bale and his wife in the carpet and seemed to know them well. It was one of those weird moments of gossips realizing they’d missed a Hollywood friendship.

      • lucy2 says:

With that one exception, all of the stories I’ve heard about people who work with Bale are positive. And same for Pitt.

  7. Allie says:

Can i just say how much I dislike that story on Taylor Swift? I’m so much in debt from student loans, $1989 is not a lot. She’s a millionaire. Now, she doesn’t owe her fans anything, but from the amount of coverage this story is getting, you’d think she paid off the entire debt. And she Obvs wants people to know she’s giving her fans stuff, otherwise she’d stop making videos about it and posting them. Ok, rant over.

    • Abbott says:

I’m super cynical but those were my first thoughts. Plus, it conveniently came out when folks were talking about her Gyllenhaal meltdown.

      • Jag says:

Good point! Nice deflection, PR team!

      • Tiffany :) says:

But the stories of her sending out gifts to fans started weeks before the Gyllenhaal story, and this is just a continuation of it.

      • FLORC says:

Fair point. Remember when Renee Z and Zach G paid for and furnished that homeless woman’s apartment and swung by weekly to bring her groceries and see how she was? That didn’t get out until someone heard through the grapevine and cell phone recorded that woman.

Celebs of that status and higher do this stuff often, but they don’t seek public praise so it stays hushed.
I’m not saying Swifty only did this for PR. I am saying if she did it just to do it no one would have found out. There’s some tactical PR happening here.

    • vauvert says:

Idk, I like hearing about it… She sends little gifts, invites people over… What other pop star of her caliber does that? They’re mostly “carry me”, “only photos from the left” etc. it’s nice that someone does something positive. I think the reason for the vast amount of flattering press is exactly that – no one else is visibly doing anything remotely sweet.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I think that is a little too cynical. Even if it wasn’t their total debt, I am sure it was still helpful. That is like saying that if you can’t donate enough to feed ALL of the homeless people at the shelter, you might as well not donate at all.

As they say, don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. Expecting her to pay off an entire student loan is unrealistic.

      • Kitten says:

I completely agree with you as always, Tiffany.

Hell, the personalized merch Taylor gave her is probably worth more than $2K on ebay.
Not only that, but she rewards her fans ALL the time with either face time, autographs, or gifts.

Isn’t it better for her to spread $100K across her fanbase than to bail one fan out of student loan debt? Even so, at the end of the day, she’s just a pop star, not Oprah. She’s not obligated to send her fans money and she’s not responsible for bailing out them out of student debt.

Honestly, the girl cannot win with some people. We have a thread today with everyone defending Lupita for not taking a photo with a fan yet Taylor sends her fans special gifts and peeps condemn her for not doing enough. Kinda f*cked when you think about it…

This was a big local story around here and just one of many I’ve heard about Taylor giving back:
        http://www.boston.com/2014/08/04/taylor-swift-visits-boston-children-hospital/ZMHDmBOAfEbUbnQoFFj89O/story.html

I’m not a fan of her music, but I defend her a lot because I think she gets an excessive amount of unwarranted hate around here.

      • Abbott says:

I think what made my eyes roll was that the dollar amount was $1,989, as in the album title.

      • Kitten says:

It’s not like she needed a plug for her album, which sold 287m copies in its first week on sale in America (yes I googled).
It was probably just her way of deciding on what is ultimately an arbitrary amount and tying it into the merch she sent her.

Anyway, the fan is stoked as hell in the photos so in the end it doesn’t really matter what the rest of us think.

      • Allie says:

I just find it annoying that everything she does has to be publicized. I think it’s nice that’s she doing these things for fans, but why does she have to post videos of herself wrapping gifts? Or post a video of herself on her way to a fans bridal shower? Like these things will be made public anyways, because fans will post it on social media that she did something nice for them. EVERYTHING about her life is so public, it just drives me nuts.

I also get annoyed that I can’t speak of a fault of Miss Swift without her fans getting super upset. I think she does this to get more publicity, not always from the goodness of her heart. It’s just my opinion. Just like yours is that Taylor is super sweet and innocent.

      • Kitten says:

I already said I’m not a fan, Allie.

I think complaining about the fact that she publicizes her charitable work is a futile exercise.

It’s like saying that someone shouldn’t tell their friends that they volunteer at the soup kitchen every Thanksgiving. It’s such a trivial thing to b*tch about when in the end, the celebrity is still helping someone. Who care really cares about the how and why when the end result is still something good?

And yes they ALL publicize their charitable works so let’s not pretend that it’s just Swifty that does it.

It’s not like publicizing it does much for her except for open her up to criticism. Maybe she should just not donate at all? Because not every rich celeb donates or does anything for their fans.

As far as her being innocent? I have no idea but I do think she’s sweet to her fans.

Ok, I can already see that I’ve commented to much in her defense but stuff like this just bugs.

      • Josefa says:

Thank you, Kitten. I’ll never understand why people complain about celebs making their charity work public. How would that student’s situation improve if Taylor had kept this donation private?

Yeah, yeah, people can get pretentious about their charitable works, but at the end of the day they are doing something and I’m not. So I’ll just shut up about it.

    • snowflake says:

if almost two grand is nothing, why don’t you send some my way? just goes to show no good deed goes unpunished. no one has an obligation to donate money to charity or people. sorry her good deed wasn’t good enough for you. money is money, no matter the net worth of the person donating. would you rather I not buy a homeless person a meal because I make 40k a year? should i buy them a car? You should be grateful people donate, whether it’s out of the goodness of their heart or for PR. Walmart donates money to a lot of organizations/charities. Do you think they really give an eff about those causes? No,it’s PR and tax writeoff. but either way, people in need get help. that’s what you should be worried about, not the amount.

    • Veronica says:

She’s actually been doing this for years – this is the first time I recall her really highlighting the Christmas gift via video. Does it come across as a little ego fluffing? Sure. But it’s obvious from some of the gifts these girls received (most of them shot the video themselves, btw) that quite a bit of thought was put into them.

Could she have given more? Sure. But the point is she didn’t have to. I’ll take Taylor Swift dropping $1989 on a fan over Katy Perry’s ham-handed charity bullshit, where she dropped several thousand on a school that absolutely didn’t need it.

  8. Jess says:

Tom Arnold praising Malin Akerman was so sweet, I wonder what happened with her ex.

    • FLORC says:

Sweet, but not his place. There’s 2 sides here and he made it sound extremely 1 sided. He opened the door. This could become something. On the other hand it’s Malin and Tom so we might forget very quickly this happened.

      • Jess says:

Good point, and I looked it up after reading his comments to see if I could find any info, but she’s been quiet about it, so she’s probably a little irritated at Tom for that!

  9. word says:

A lot of celebs don’t do anything for their fans, so at least Taylor Swift does something. She invites fans to her home as well. She’s much nicer than your average celebrity a$$hole. I mean she’s already super successful so she doesn’t need to do this. By the way I don’t own any of her albums, never been to a concert. I just don’t understand why she gets hate.

Eminem did a really good thing. So sad the fan passed away just one day later.

Why is Kendall Jenner going to the gym a news story? I don’t get it.

    • Kitten says:

      Yes exactly about Taylor.
Fine if you don’t like her but don’t say she’s not good to her fans.

      • FLORC says:

Good to fans, yes. Her neighbors never see to like her alterations to the surrounding landscape though.

All jokes aside. I always give the side eye to those who use charity for PR. And not for charity or cause awareness. Just for self promotion. End of the day it’s a good deed, but not 1 Swifty should be praised for. Especially to this level. We shouldn’t be kind or generous to be told we’re kind an generous.

  10. Dancinnancy says:

For someone with DEBT $100 is a lot. I’d lose it too if someone gave me just shy of $2k. I promised not to hate on Taylor after she made an initial $500k donation when Nashville floaded. She and Martha Ingram are our patron saints.

    • snowflake says:

exactly. wow, I didn’t know about the 500k donation. nice

      • Dancinnancy says:

She was one of the first to pull out her checkbook. She has personally funded millions into the Country Music Hall of Fame, Symphony and Nashville itself. She is very generous. And she doesnt have to be.

Many times the donor wants to keep the donation private, but it helps thhe organization to put a face out there. How many people will donate because Tom Hiddleston, etc told them to?

This is one area where I just can’t make myself cynical. And anyone with extra is welcome to send it my way. lol

      • FLORC says:

Wasn’t that a solid Million she donated and not 500k?

    • jwoolman says:

Yes, I remember when someone gave me $2000 – it meant I could get out of a big debt a lot faster, which saved me even more money since interest rates were so high. Definitely A Big Deal, even if it covers only a small portion of the debt.

  11. Rhiley says:

Lena Dunham probably just read the Jezebel piece about the KC note baseball shirt and ordered her assistant to destroy the one that she (Lena) bought a week ago and was planning to wear the next time she flew into LAX.

    • smcollins says:

Lol. But, yeah, that’s really f@$#ed up! Who the hell, in their right mind, thought that was a good idea?? There are some sick, sick people in this world.

  12. snowflake says:

I don’t get the hate on Taylor Swift. I know good girls aren’t in right now and she might be too vanilla for some, but what has she done that’s so bad?

    • Josefa says:

Same here. I can understand why some people dislike her vanilla schtick (I’m not a fan music-wise) – but let’s save the actual hate for the likes of Chris Brown and Justin Bieber.

    • FLORC says:

Swift is a good girl? That’s just an image. I’m not saying she’s a bad girl, but like many performers it’s all image. She’s no exception. Simple Marketing

  13. Dancinnancy says:

@FLORC Maybe ultimately. But I remember watching her donation pop up on the telethon.

  14. COSquared says:

I’m still surprised CamD actually gets cast. No talent.
