Jennifer Aniston thinks she’s the ‘number one snubbed’ of the Oscar noms

20th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards - Arrivals

At first, entertainment journalists claimed that Jennifer Aniston had pulled out of her media engagements following her “snub” at the Oscar nominations announcement. But then Jennifer rallied – she spoke to the press at the Critics Choice on Thursday night, then she did a day of press on Friday, and on Monday, she appeared on The Ellen Show. Ellen DeGeneres knows better than to toss an Angelina Jolie question at Jennifer, so there were no references made to Jennifer’s comment on Friday that the Uncool Bermuda Triangle is some “tired and petty BS” and everyone needs to get over it. Jennifer did talk to Ellen about being the “number one snubbed” and how she loves Kate Hudson’s butt. You can see the video here.

Too hot to not handle! Jennifer Aniston made headlines last week when she grabbed the butt of longtime pal Kate Hudson just before the Golden Globes outside The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

“Well, my gosh, look at that ass,” Aniston, 45, said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday, Jan. 19, when Ellen DeGeneres showed the photo of the actress grasping her friend’s rear. “It’s such an irresistible tush.”

“I’m allowed!” Aniston added. “Ryan Seacrest tried to get in. Kate actually did say, ‘Oh well, that’s gonna go everywhere.'” The handsy moment took place on the red carpet as both women gabbed with Seacrest during E!’s preshow. Aniston was up for Best Actress in a Drama at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, losing to Julianne Moore, who was honored for Still Alice.

The Friends alum, who was also nominated for a Critics’ Choice Award for her work in the upcoming drama about chronic pain, Cake, was snubbed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences just days later, when the nominees for the 2015 Oscars were announced.

“I’m the number one snubbed!” Aniston lamented on The Ellen DeGeneres Show of the buzzed-about diss. “That’s the silver lining, right?”

“It hasn’t even come out,” she continued of her film, which is scheduled to hit theaters later this month. “That’s the crazy thing! We’re so shocked and amazed that we have had this much love for a movie that hasn’t even been released yet.”

While Aniston has been narrowly missing awards for her part in Cake, the star said she has been celebrated for the film in different ways.

“What’s been so incredible is the amount of people that have come out to me who are suffering with chronic pain and in this same situation,” she spilled to DeGeneres. Aniston stars in Cake as a woman who is treating her chronic pain with a variety of medications and loses a member of her support group when the fellow sufferer commits suicide. “It’s unbelievable how much positivity it’s bringing to those who are kind of silently suffering. It’s a beautiful, hopeful movie.”

[From Us Weekly]

I know she’s being a good sport and she’s being surprisingly Zen about all of this, and we should just really let her have it… BUT, I kind of think Ava DuVernay is the #1 Snub of the Oscar nominations. David Oyelowo is up there too. But, as I said, maybe we should just give this one to Jennifer. After all, people were really, really surprised that she didn’t get nominated, especially after she spent so much money trying to get that nomination. That’s another question I think a lot of us have: does her Oscar consultant do refunds if the campaign fails?

I think she’s being a good sport and also that she was joking about the “number one snub” but I know that won’t prevent the piling on here about why she is evil incarnate.

*finds nearest exit and hustles out*

    • CM says:

I agree she was joking (and this is coming from someone that can’t STAND her!).
Besides, we all know #1 snub was The Lego Movie

      • truthSF says:

        And Ava for Best Director.

      • Anna says:

Lol not sure if you’re joking or not but I’m pretty sure the number one snub(s) were all the POC who deserved nominations who didn’t get any. Mainly the stars of Selma..

      • CM says:

        Agree it’s a whitewash.
But also: Lego Movie was awesome.

      • @CM
My 12 year old brother CAN’T stop talking about The Lego Movie. He bugged my dad into watching it, and my dad liked it okay, but now my brother constantly brings it up…lol.

      • CM says:

        @VC
Are you calling me a 12 year old??
        Yeah, sounds about right, actually….
(P.S. I’m forced to watch a lot of shitty kids movies with my sons. Most of the time I use it as an excuse for a nap or I’m catching up with emails on my phone. Such a (good) surprise to see Lego Movie and actually enjoy paying attention for once!!)

      • @CM
Sounds about right. 90% of the movies my dad watches are kids movies, lol.

      • smcollins says:

OMG, yes! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who was super disappointed (and shocked) that The Lego Movie was overlooked. Such a great movie!

    • Mmhmm says:

I think she’s being good about it too. I mean, is it wrong that people who strived to be a part of the oscars are upset they didn’t get a nom? Anyway, Lego and Gyllenhaal were the big snubs to me. Not Selma *runs really fast*

      • T.C. says:

I’m sure she is joking but I’m equally sure she believed her own hype and the bloggers hype. She spent a lot of money on this campaign hoping for a nomination. Now she has to continue the media blitz or risk being called out especially after using her poor married ex boyfriend for sympathy votes.

      • lisa says:

lol sometimes i feel like im the only person who isnt impressed by selma

just because a topic is serious and important doesnt mean every movie made about it is epic, although i think david o was excellent in a really crowded year.

    • mimif says:

Oh no you don’t, Esmom. You get back here and clean this place up!

    • Dani2 says:

I agree that she was joking as well.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yep and yep. Right behind you. Don’t lock that door!

    • doofus says:

agree with all of what you said, and save a seat for me in your getaway car!

    • Esmom says:

Lol, GNAT and doofus. Door is still propped open, car is running. Time to skedaddle, the piling on is in full force. Shocker.

    • Elle Kaye says:

I agree with you. She has an off-handed sense of humor that people take seriously at times.

    • anon says:

I agree with you. She is saying what she is expected to say.
Privately she must be very disappointed but she didn’t make the cut.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

“A joke is a very serious thing.”
      Winston Churchill said.

i don’t think she was snubbed at all, I don’t believe she was Ever in the running for a Oscar Nomination.

I think she believed much of her of PR hype or was hoping it would work.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

        @Someonestolemyname …

Yea, verily, yea … and all the ‘justification-oh, she’s just joking!’ in the world won’t change that fact.

      • Pandy says:

Yup, agree with you both. She thought she bought a nomination and she does think she was the #1 snub. This is pretty funny.

      • FLORC says:

Agree. And I think people saying she was joking is a easy defense and way to shut down the conversation. It falls in line with what Mayer said about her. She’s stuck in her glory days. That her name was huge and pulled in ticket sales. How she’s approached work, her social life, and her pr seems to support this. Only very recently has any of this started to change. I think her name tossed in with Oscar talk may have helped her move out of her delusion. The old game doesn’t work and it’s time she ditches the lbd and triangle stories to rebrand herself as a serious actress.

For the past few years i’ve seen her like this. She’s a smart and successful business woman that flips properties and is a seed investor. She’s also a former big tv actor that uses her financial successes to live out her old fame. Like a Norma Desmond of sorts.

    • angie_vh says:

Her comments on being “snubbed” is another example of her delusion. She is essentially agreeing w the commentary that she should’ve been nominated for an Oscar. Her game playing is exhausting, not fun to watch at all.

    • MJ says:

Agree, she was totally joking, but you know the people here love to hate on her (me not included).

    • Bloorville says:

Where’s the joke? She’s said it numerous times. Does the joke oft repeated get bigger and bigger laughs? I don’t think so. It’s clear she’s saying it because she wants people to think an injustice has occurred to gain more attention and relevance…while pretending to be over it. Sound familiar?

  2. Amanda says:

I kind of think she was joking — it was all said in good fun in her over the top Rachel manner.

  3. mea says:

“What’s been so incredible is the amount of people that have come out to me who are suffering with chronic pain and in this same situation,” – what people? It must really be enormous amount, since almost nobody saw her film – it was so well hidden before the Oscars announcement.

    • epiphany says:

And who are these people? Other celebrities who suffer chronic pain from repeated Botox injections? She makes it sound like she’s in the bank or the grocery store, and people come up to her and spill their guts. When is she is situations where she’s talking to regular folks? Despite her “number one snub” she can’t stop the press tour because she sank so much of her own money into the distribution -girlfriend needs a return on her money!

      • GoOnGirl! says:

I agree. And I, for one, don’t think she’s kidding at all. How do we know she wasn’t the 10th person picked or may be she didn’t make the cut at all?

    • GoOnGirl! says:

My point exactly. How is one nominated for a film that no one has seen? I need this explained to me like I’m a two year old.

      • Carol says:

I believe a movie has to shown in Los Angeles before Dec. 31 of the year in consideration to be eligible for a nomination. So Cake had opened to a limited theater release in December 2014 (including showing in certain theaters in Los Angeles) and is therefore qualified for an Oscar nomination . It’s national release is set for January 23, 2015.

The studio who produced CAke sent a screener of the movie to Academy voters (in December I think) for a possible nomination including best actress.

      • TotallyBiased says:

To satisfy academy eligibility requirements, it was in one theatre in LA county. For a week. Not advertised by said theatre, or mentioned on their FB page like they mentioned multiple other Oscar hopefuls. Oh, and the theatre is out in the boonies. AND not mentioned in the LA Times until the day before the last day of the run.
So I had the first same thought as Mea–WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE, AND WHEN/WHERE DID THEY SEE IT?

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Carol, who wrote: “I believe a movie has to shown in Los Angeles before Dec. 31 of the year in consideration to be eligible for a nomination.”

When I first read the Academy Awards nomination rules I mistakenly thought the film had to have its 7-day qualifying run in Los Angeles by December 31, 2014. But in fact, the film only had to ‘start’ the Academy Awards qualifying run before 11:59 pm on December 31, 2014. “Cake” very, very quietly began its 7-day qualifying run on December 31, 2014. Not many people had a chance to see it at all. We won’t know what the movie going public thinks of the film until the wide release on January 23, 2015.

    • Bloorville says:

That’s one reason Aniston infuriates people. The coddling of her. The low bar standard. Take the comment about ‘the incredible amount of people discussing their chronic pain with her,’ how amazing all these people coming out to her has been — but two seconds before she claims it’s amazing this movie has gotten all this love and no one’s seen it. It’s hyperbole, and it goes unquestioned because her interviews are highly monitored by her PR flack. She doesn’t get asked questions that clear up the inconsistency.

  4. Maudd says:

‘I’m the number 1 snubbed’ was something Jennifer repeated when Ellen joked about the snub. I don’t believe anyone really thought that JA meant she was really the No1.

    • Annie says:

Actually she wasn’t joking at all, she was like so being arrogant about it, not that she was snubbed but she was important HW star that her being snubbed made headlines the most. That’s how I interpreted it, she was smug about it.

      • Anny says:

She was clearly joking. Have you seen the video? SMH

      • elo says:

I dislike Jennifer Aniston, I think she is a terrible actress, and her snub didn’t suprise me in the slightest but she iis totally joking here. She is a funny gal and jokes on herself quite a bit.

    • doofus says:

“I don’t believe anyone really thought that JA meant she was really the No1.”

you must be new here. just wait.

ETA: oh, never mind. no waiting needed.

    • Josephine says:

My question is whether other actors are doing the circuit to talk about not being nominated. Is that usual?

I think the “#1 snubbed thing” is just an extension of the fact that her potential nomination has seemed to get an extraordinary amount of attention considering the lukewarm reviews of the movie, the fact that it didn’t get a distributor until they created one just for the film, and the fact that she hasn’t been “working on her craft” for years while going unacknowledged. I remember some PR buzz happening as soon as the project was announced, and then again during the filming. I really just loathe Oscar buzz being created because some actress goes without make-up.

  5. Lilacflowers says:

Dear Jennifer, I suffer chronic pain. I wear make-up.

    • I can’t imagine having to suffer through chronic pain. I thought I had it bad when I kept popping a muscle in my calf for about three weeks (and limped the entire time), but I just CAN’T imagine having to go through pain that you think about, all the time, every single day, for YEARS.

And Lilacflowers, you remind me of a cousin who has chronic migraines–has for half of her life, since she was 16, and always has a smile on her face. I didn’t even know she constantly had a migraine until she put a post on FB a few months ago, on her birthday, about how excited she was that this was one of her ‘good days’.

I think this movie would’ve been taken more seriously (by me, at least) if Jennifer had talked less about how empowering it was to go without makeup and gain ten pounds, and more about chronic pain. For me, it’s like watching a movie about a woman who says she learned SO MUCH about racism and racial injustice, by saying something like “OMFG, the KKK were SO mean!”….not much substance there.

And you’d think that it would be something that was expected that she talk about….I’d have left off with the “tabloids are bs”, “this feud between me and SHE-WHO-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED is bs”, and focused more on my role (and let that speak for my new future in Hollywood), and the business side of getting the movie made. It’s just kinda weird that there’s all this praise for a movie that no one wanted to buy.

    • sad DSA says:

Baaaahahahah! Yeah, me too (autoimmune disease) and I like makeup.

Still gutted I didn’t get nominated for doing my groceries sans makeup the other day, tho. *Snort*

    • SQS says:

Also a chronic pain sufferer with bad hair, roots showing (can’t sit long enough for highlights). I usually manage mascara though it gets smudged if I’m crying or nodding off.

    • Elle Kaye says:

I’m happy you wear make-up and still look good for yourself, even when you hurt. There are others who are suffering from depression or have lost the desire to do such things for themselves because of their chronic pain. Such as the woman that this movie is about. There are people who can relate. Not everyone is as strong as you.

      • sad DSA says:

You know, I was depressed for an entire month and literally when I started using scrub again I actually thought the new brand I was using didn’t work (it turned out that I had so much dead skin cells from completely not grooming for an entire month, it took a second time to work). So, yes, I can relate to looking awful because I feel equally awful inside. I’m trying to recover and I literally thought about killing myself today because I saw a picture of some people who bullied me. But some of us don’t have a support system, so we laugh at our own situations as a coping mechanism because we have nobody to talk to.

The point isn’t that we’re laughing at her character, I can’t speak for Lilac or the others, but I was laughing at the awards-baiting uglification. Just because I don’t say I’m not suffering doesn’t mean I’m not suffering or I don’t empathise.

    • Cindy says:

“I have chronic pain and I wear makeup” Me too. 🙂

  6. truthSF says:

I know Ellen was joking, but Jennifer’s movie is currently at 35% rotten on RT, not exactly an argument one can use to campaign for an Oscar for a good performance.

And no one should use the GG or SAG as a guarantee to get an Oscar, totally different ball games. Plus waaaaayyyyy more members in AMPAS with over 5000, as oppose to 91 members of the GG.

  7. Adrien says:

She wasn’t serious but she’s obviously hurting.

  8. captain hero says:

Yeah this was already covered in the last one. Composing my required essay now

  9. savu says:

All that money for the Oscar campaigner, and they didn’t draw on the people she’s “heard from” until now? Maybe if she was talking about the people in real life in that situation instead of tabloid dramz, we’d be talking about her Oscar nom. (And I fully didn’t want her to get one, just because of all the hype she single-handedly manufactured and outlets like E! kissing her ass about.)

All I’m saying is that if she made these people who supposedly reached out to her her main campaign focus, it may be a different story. One that wouldn’t be so easy to eye-roll at. And definitely a more humble one.

  10. Meandyou says:

#1 snubbed? More like “#1 We’re surprised you got this far based on the thinnest body of work and praise for actual performance”.

  11. RobinS says:

I hate the belly chain. It ruins that outfit. of course she isn’t the number one snubbed but I’m sure she believes she is.

    • CM says:

Hate the belly chain too. The exposed tits help it look more classy though

    • Looking at her outfit again, I think if the jacket had been more tailored, and the chain/necklace thing GONE, then it would’ve been a great outfit. Honestly, I just hate cutouts like that….no one can ever pull them off except JLo.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

I agree with Kaiser in saying this outfit looks like it was designed for someone much taller than Jen, hence the LOW ‘V’ of her jacket … and did you check out the length on those pants? It looks like she’s walking on the hem plus 3″ of the pant leg. She would look so much better in some of her clothes if she had them tailored for her short waist and frame.

  12. Louise177 says:

Jennifer is saving face. You don’t hire a consultant and schedule a bunch of interviews for the day after nominations if you didn’t care about it. It’s even more pronounce considering she cancelled most of the interviews. It’s fine to be disappointed but it’s annoying when people act like it’s not a big deal when things don’t work out.

    • Mmhmm says:

And yet if she did act like she was hurt and ‘cared’ people would still be on her case. I think a lot of actors and actresses who barely miss the nominations are in a tough spot on how to react in front of the public. I’m no Jen fan, but I think she’s doing well with the snub. (Yeah, I’m calling it a snub. Not a great movie but her performace was actually quite good)

      • serena says:

Barely? Come on, even though she was nominated in other awards (dunno if she actually won something) she had no chance for the Oscars. People who actually saw the movie are saying her acting was poor and the movie is pretty weak itself. She spent a lot of money, hoping to buy the nomination (nothing to say there, a lot of actors do that) but in no way she’s the #1 snubbed when her talent just lies in roomcoms.

      • LNC says:

        @MMHMM,

When and where did you see the film? How were the crowds?

      • Sullivan says:

I saw Cake. At home, so couldn’t tell you about attendance. Her performance was good. Not award-worthy, IMO. Not Oscar nomination-worthy, IMO. Aniston should give the Oscar consultant a big tip because her performance wouldn’t have been noticed without the consultant’s help. She certainly got no help or support from the cast or director. Just about the only people who have seen the movie have viewed it for free. The consultant earned every penny.

    • littlestar says:

I’m surprised and second-hand embarrassed for her that she even scheduled interviews for the day after the Oscars to begin with. Did she really think it was a sure thing? It’s so presumptuous of her :S.

  13. Reed says:

    Delusional.

  14. Rosalee says:

your comments made her number 1 – GO TEAM!!!!

  15. Annie says:

Also I really think the reason why she touched Kate’s behind is not only because she knows that it will get attention but also because she thinks she also has a nice behind. She seems so proud of her own butt and likes to show it off in Cabo. it’s like she is saying, Oh Look at Kate’s butt it’s nice, I’ve got nice butt, too. LOL!

    • GoOnGirl! says:

If this had been anyone else touching someone else, you’d never hear the end of this. The talk would be how they like women. Just think it’s strange to go around grabbing another woman’s body.

    • Sally J. Freedman says:

Well yeah, I mean her butt is amazing. She works damn hard on it. If I had an ass like hers I’d be pretty proud of it too. By the way, I love both Jen, and she who must not be named in a JA post.

  16. Rosalee says:

At least she didn’t get chicken pox..

  17. scout says:

Ofcourse, World revolves around her and her Cake, she has to be the number one there too. Never mind others who are infront of her.

  18. Amcn says:

The butt rub was cringeworthy at best. Don’t worry Jen, you’ll get the nom next year!

    • Mina says:

I would have probably slapped her and sued her for sexual harassment. What is wrong with her? Do Americans consider this normal? Do people go up to Sofia Vergara, say “omg, your boobs!” and cop a feel? What a creep.

      • Some creeper reporter did that to Scarlet Johannsson on the Golden Globes red carpet YEARS ago….she was like 20/21–I think she was nominated for “Girl With A Pearl Earring”…but the guy just grabbed her boobs. It was very uncomfortable..and on CAMERA. WTF?

      • Amcn says:

It’s very middle aged girls gone wild. I guess they didn’t want any groping on the Oscar carpet.

      • CLEA says:

I think she has been made very savvy in the fine art of what is called `talking points`in political circles: you say the same thing enough times and it enters the cultural narrative.
Enough times said, and folks don`t remember where they came to believe something, they just do.
Wait and see in the weeks, months even years to come: people may even think she got nominated because of the repetition of Jen associated with Oscar.

  19. lisa2 says:

I think she was “jokingly serious” especially when you go on to say how people were in tears because you were not nominated for an Oscar. And how does she know she was in that 5th spot. Maybe she was 7th, 8th, 9th or not even really in consideration. Marion didn’t just come out of nowhere. she had an amazing performance in a film that was more loved by the critics (I don’t care about what the critics say per-say) but her film had better reviews than any of the other actresses’ films.
    Nobody is hating on Aniston.
It ‘s obvious that this promotion for the film has become the feel bad for Jen because she didn’t get a nomination. This is not the first time.. but hopefully the last time the Poor Jen promotional tour will roll out.

And where are the other actors. Why are they not promoting. Why were they not apart of her Oscar nomination press events.. Has she even talked about any of them or their performances.. No, and why is that when a film is a collective experience.

    • epiphany says:

Considering she sank her own money into the project, you think Aniston would approach this film the way a producer does – work to have the film as a whole do well, not just her own performance. From what I understand, Adriana Barraza, who plays the housekeeper, steals the movie. If Aniston had insisted Barraza be included in the promotion tour, and allowed some of the spotlight to shine on her, Adriana might just have a Best Supporting Actress nom right now – which would benefit everyone connected with the film.

    • Pixi says:

She probably would have come across better had she said something like, at least I wasn’t the only one snubbed. Look at Selma, that was a gorgeous film and they didn’t get the recognition they deserved. But I guess it’s hard to be humble when you’re 4 margaritas into your day.

    • kendra says:

I’m sure we will get one of Jennifer’s interviews telling us ” How happy she is”. I mean she is happy every other sentence and her life is great. It’s like Jennifer is trying to convince herself that she is happy and great. This is what she is doing now, trying to make us think , being #1 snub is just GREAT.

    • Janet says:

None of the other actors are promoting the movie because it’s being marketed as HER movie. But if it bombs at the box office I wonder if they will be calling it HER flop?

  20. MrsBPitt says:

“It hasn’t even come out! That’s the crazy thing! We are so shocked and amazed that we have had this much love for a movie that hasn’t been released, yet!” What love??? It has a 37% ROTTEN on Rottentomatoes! She was the only one nominated for that film for ANY award! I have not heard ONE THING from her fellow actors in the movie…not one! From the trailer, it looks like a bad movie, but people were surprised that JA was trying something different than a romcom actress, and that she allowed to be shown as less than her always “perfectly put together” self… I have said from the beginning, she may get nominated for the Globes, or Peoples Choice, but there is NO WAY the stuck up, our farts don’t stink, we only nominate serious actors, Academy would nominate her for anything!

    • norah says:

also interesting how none of the other cast members even bothered with cake – i can understand that anna was busy with into the woods etc but nothing from anyone else

  21. Jayna says:

    She was joking.

    • lisa2 says:

I think when you say it one time it is a joke.. but she has said over and over in all the preceding interviews. That is not joking. It is her true feelings. She believed 100% that the nomination was hers. She was not hoping or praying. She believed it was hers. And therefore she believes she is the #1 Snub. I saw a part of her Ellen interview and Ellen was running down the nominations she had gotten. She omitted the CC nod.. Aniston before answering the question made sure to mention that nomination. I feel that when she got those 3 nominations she was sure. So sure she sent out invitations to bloggers and reporters for a sit down. That guy at GD said he had never seen such a thing. Yes with the cast; but not for ONE Actor in a film.

The lesson is never count your chicks before they hatch. Yes she kept her press responsibilities for Cake.. but she had to cancel the Hotel thing that was just about her OSCAR victory.

so no she was not just joking.

  22. Maya says:

If you say it once – it’s can be a joke but if you say twice or more – then you really mean in.

Jennifer said she was number one snubbed during an interview with Huff post the other day as well.

I really think she thought she had this nomination in the bag. She spent millions on this campaign – to the campaigner, Oscar bloggers were wined and dined and bought, distributed the movie by some of her own money, sent “gifts” to Ampas voters etc.

It must have been a real shock to her that she wasn’t nominated. I might have felt sympathy for her but then I get reminded of the way she used her dead ex, ex husband & his current wife, never ever included the other actors/actresses in the conversations, passively agressively snarked at her fiancé and the ring etc for this campaign. Any sympathy I felt went right out of the window and I actually feel a little happy that Oscars proved that they cannot be bought all the time and that they didn’t nominate her.

PS: let’s see if this ruthless campaign has worked in Jennifer’s favour or if it has made her less popular amongst Hollywood. Time will tell – although it does seem like she has no new movies lined up.

PPS: she rode the poor pitt train for the past decade – now I won’t be surprised if she is going to ride the supposedly number one snubbed the next decade to stay relevant. God save the gossip world.

    • kendra says:

Amen Maya, so true. Can not wait to see where her career goes from here.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

The thing is she’s only hunting herself with the Academy in the future with “Jokes” like this. The Academy does not like to be told they don’t know what they are doing nor do they like having a actor or actress foisted upon them that they may have no interest in.

    • The Original Mia says:

She said it on Access Hollywood too. It’s not a joke. She truly believes she was snubbed.

  23. TeresaMaria says:

B****, please! The only reason Jennifer could even entertain the thought of getting an Oscar nomination, was because of her massive campaign. It had nothing to do with her performance or talent (or lack thereof).

  24. serena says:

She just loves her pity-parties, she’s always the number one poor victim *rolling eyes*, sure jen, sure.

  25. neer says:

Assuming that she is just joking when she said, “I’m the number one snubbed!”, she still came across as arrogant. She may be joking BUT deep inside she is hurting. LAUGHING ON THE OUTSIDE, CRYING ON THE INSIDE!!! She was expecting to get nominated considering she campaigned real hard. I think she believes in her own hype, the hype she created with her team to make so much noise & gives an illusion to the public that she gave an impressive acting performance when in fact she only gave a “without-make up” performance.

It is so unbelievable that she even prepared a press con for her supposedly Oscar nomination BUT cancelled when she didn’t get one. Who does that? It’s the first time I heard a celebrity doing that. She is counting the chicks before it’s hatched.

I pity her BUT at the same time I am annoyed at her because she always gives me an impression that she is NOT a humble person. She is full of herself. Besides, she is also very rude. The way she behaves during interviews or otherwise, she is just NOT giving me the vibe of a sincere individual. Everything is just about her.

    • I think it was a joke, but I agree. I think it’s natural to be hurt that you didn’t get nominated. But girl, you didn’t need to add fuel to the fire (to borrow a phrase), by setting up a press junket FOR YOURSELF…before the nominations even came out. And if what the dude said was true–that celebs don’t set up press junkets for themselves i.e. that’s not the norm–I don’t think that that gave her a lot of respect points with the Academy. Which she needs if she wants to be taken more seriously by them (which is what she wants)–especially in future roles.

I do wonder how she’s going to parlay this. She’s got the SAG awards. And then what? Her IMDb is a blank slate for acting and producing projects this year.

  26. Pixi says:

Correction: “#1 snubbed in MY CATEGORY” would have come off better, but then the Amy Adams looneys probably would have jumped on her…

  27. Hawkeye says:

    Uncool, Academy, uncool.

    • Lol. VERY uncool. Now we gotta get Chelsea Handler to call all of the Academy members c-nts.

Btw, whatever happened to Chelsea Handler? Wasn’t she supposed to have some sort of deal with Netflix? I watched part of her Uganda-whatever tour/standup (not very funny, but meh), and then nothing…..kinda weird. Or not. Last thing I heard about her was she kept posting all of these topless pics on instagram….this past December.

  28. flutters says:

So basically, Aniston got Golden Globe and SAG nominations before she hired the Oscar strategist/campaigner, and then was snubbed for the Oscar after she made that hire? Wasted money for sure, but what all this says is she got a SAG nomination (let’s ignore the Globes, which are always messy) before hiring this person?

I don’t know, seems to me like Aniston was hustling before but nothing over the top, and she got rewarded with recognition before the campaigning began in earnest. Good for her and maybe a lesson that less is more when it comes to Aniston.

    • Maya says:

Nope – she hired the awards campaigner back in October before the voting started for any award.

Jennifer and the campaigner carefully planned the whole campaign starting with blocking the reviews for 4 months.

    • The Original G says:

I don’t think she wasted the money at all. First, she did not finance the film. That came from Chinese investors.

She probably did front some screening and distribution costs, but I imagine there are tax write-offs there that make it hurt less. Same thing, for the awards consultant. That’s a professional cost, as well. If she has the talent and the mojo to follow up her campaign with a rebooted career trajectory, the consultant will have been worth every penny and more. It will have been a wise investment, actually. Time will tell.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

Careful, flutters, you’re being rational and lucid. That’s not allowed with the get-Jen mob.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Lahdidahbaby, who wrote: “Careful, flutters, you’re being rational and lucid. That’s not allowed with the get-Jen mob.”

What @Flutters said wasn’t accurate. Jen ‘did’ hire her Oscar consultant back in the fall before nominations/voting started for SAG and the Golden Globes. @Maya simply corrected that misconception.

        @The Original G …

Jennifer Aniston is listed as a the Executive Producer for “Cake.”

        http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=cake.htm

  29. The Original Mia says:

She’s serious. She’s been saying the exact same thing in every interview. She’s just that self-absorbed. She can’t conceive that she was never a contender. Her ego won’t allow it. Which is sad because she could reshape her image by being humble and saying it just wasn’t her year and that she felt grateful to be in the conversation, but no…can’t do that.

    • Toot says:

Exactly. People can say she’s joking, but she can’t help showing her all about me personality.

    • GoOnGirl! says:

Not to mention the fact people were in tears when talking with her. . . and the sad emails she received after her snub. Wonder what Justin says about all this. Maybe now they can go away and plan the wedding and actually get married.

  30. Suze says:

I would have advised her against that outfit.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

She looks awful in that outfit.
I wonder if she saw Kate Hudson’s V neck dress and figurer she’d do a V open Jacket with her suit…problem is the V doesn’t work on Jen’s chest the way she’s wearing it.

  31. serena says:

Nobody’s talking about Unbroken or Angelina Jolie. You know why? She didn’t throw a fit or a pity-party, nor she booked hotels and conferences presses for her SUPPOSED win (come on!).

  32. kendra says:

Jennifer uses comedy to hide her pain. In some of her interviews, Jennifer come across as a person, full of rage and anger but she’s acting like nothing is bothering her. She is really, really hurting about not getting the Oscar nom. Jennifer thought she had it in the bag.

    • norah says:

if i was amy adams i would be upset that jennifer aniston talks abt her being the no1 snubbed – amy won a gg for best actress but she didnt whine abt it like jennifer – anyway i am more curious as to how much money she spent on that oscar person

      • kendra says:

I read Jennifer paid the person 2 million and if she had won 3 million. Jennifer’s movie cost 10 million to make and she probably spent 20 million campaigning.

    • Janet says:

She believed what everybody told her. Some people posting on here said she had the nomination in the bag. That bag must have had a big gaping hole in it.

  33. original kay says:

I must be getting old. I could have sworn she said No 1 snubbed last week, in a print interview?
and now repeated with Ellen, so… she’s not joking. I think she really truly believes she was deserving and thus snubbed.

On a different yet related note, I loathe the word “snubbed”. Also, “bump” for pregnancy.

  34. The Original G says:

Uh, not a fan of her acting, but she was joking.

Really, let’s not make Jennifer Aniston the locus of a legitimate political discussion about diversity in entertainment.

  35. Kim1 says:

Yes she made the comment to HuffPo as well it’s possible she was joking the first time as well.I am more confused why she has been promoting this movie by herself. All her co stars are too busy to appear on Ellen?

    • Tiffany says:

The film did not have a distributor after it premiered at TIFF. The company that pays for the rights to the films covers the cost for promotion. The fact that there is no other promotion for it means there is truth in a story about 6 months ago about about her paying for the release out of pocket and hiring Lisa to get nomination.

It makes me wonder who encouraged her to go forth with this end result disaster. My money is on Justin. He just strikes me as the one who thought this was the best performance ever and egged her on.

  36. KatyD says:

She just can’t let go of the spotlight. I bet if she was ordered to not do any PR for an entire year, her fat head would explode. Everyone else who was snubbed has let it go, but only Jennifer is using it for EVEN MORE PR.
Yep, she’s number one alright. She’s outdone Anne Hathaway as the number one most annoying self-absorbed celeb. Congrats! 🙂

  37. bette says:

I think Clint Eastwood was the #1 snubbed as director after having seen “American Sniper” , but way to go JA, who would you have yanked out of the Best Actress slot?

  38. Penelope says:

She defines overexposed. Go away for a while.

  39. daughterofjean says:

It was an obvious joke. I watched a clip of her on Ellen. She looked amazing in that white dress. I think she’s gorgeous and I’ll watch Cake. I’m interested in seeing it now.

    • Janet says:

She would have looked even more amazing if the hemline was a few inches lower. She’s kind of long in the tooth to be wearing micro-minis. Just because you still got it doesn’t mean you have to flaunt it every chance you get.

  40. Anon says:

Judging from that ‘Cake’ trailer, Jennifer stereotyped millions of chronic pain suffers. …it is false, just like Rand Paul was proven wrong about why people are on disability.
Maybe Jen needs to do a remake of the story ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’.

  41. Dagmarunger says:

On another note, how insincere did she sound using words like “gorgeous” and “beautiful” to pay homage to AJ about Unbroken.

    • maggie says:

Yes she was being rather generous wasn’t she? She could have told the truth and said it sucked. Damn liar!

  42. Jordan says:

It’s obvious she was joking. Sheesh!

  43. Dr.Funkenstein says:

    Lawdy, that’s a godawful outfit.

    • Someonestolemyname says:

It’s terrible. Does she think that chest area looks good? I wonder why a stylist didn’t steer her away from that?

  44. Nudgie says:

“Cake” was a nice film. Good performances, nice Direction, good writing. So were many other films of 2014, some with smaller budgets and some with much larger budgets. It comes down to whether you liked the [FILL IN CATEGORY HERE] better than others who were considered for [FILL IN CATEGORY HERE.]

If you were chosen, the voters liked you. If you were not, you were Jennifer Aniston.

    See how easy that was?

  45. Amcn says:

Just started watching the new season of Episodes with Matt LeBlanc and wondering why JA doesn’t do this? I couldn’t stand ML before this show but now I think he’s hilarious. Why keep making the same crappy rom com over and over when there is a lot of innovative writing happening for tv? I hope she wises up, I’m sure she would get a lot of offers.

  46. Precious says:

I have no issue with anyone trolling for awards; that’s part of their job. But JA’s campaign reminded me how I hated Anne Hathaway for her Oscar campaign. It’s just as blatant, even more so for the fact that no one has seen her movie and there’s been an embargo on reviews until recently. Yeah, #1 snubbed……JA turned a decent performance into the biggest snub of the year. Amazing what PR can do.

  47. Mel says:

If you’ve been following the precursors, Ava Duvernay is not the #1 snub either. It’s Jake Gyllenhaal. He was nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press (Golden Globe), the Screen Actors Guild, the Broadcast Film Critics (Critics Choice), the British Academy (BAFTA), the Independent Spirit Awards. Yet he didn’t make the cut and we have Bradley Cooper instead, who has not been nominated in any single precursor award. Why is no one talking about poor poor Jake? He so deserved to be nominated, and even to win!, for that performance.

#2 snub is Gillian Flynn but of course no one cares about the screenplay categories so her snub was not mentioned much in the press.

    • TC says:

Mel — Agree 100% with your selections. And I LOVED Jake’s performance in Nightcrawler. It was a total departure for him and should’ve been recognized by AMPAS.

I’d also add David Oyelowo (Selma), Renee Russo (Nightcrawler), Tilda Swinton (Grand Budapest Hotel, Only Lovers Left Alive, SnowPiercer), Carrie Coon (Gone Girl) and Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner) to the bona fide Oscar nomination snubs of 2015. I’ll even throw Clint Eastwood onto the list, although American Sniper was nominated for best film. But he didn’t secure a nomination for best director. Though I didn’t really see or hear of Clint out there hustling for it. So maybe he just wasn’t interested. American Sniper came out late in the awards season too (which never helps) with no festival debut to build buzz around it like Still Alice received at TIFF.

  48. Pumpkin Pie says:

    Isn’t she cold?

  49. LAK says:

This is going to be her new pity party. Wonder if she can make it last as long as the triangle of doom.
