Behati Prinsloo debuts some new bangs: bangs trauma or kind of cute?

Sometimes we get Celebitchy newbies who are not familiar with my aversion to bad bangs. For the record, I believe nearly all bangs are bad. It’s my hangup and I’m working through it. I have three categories: the worst is “bangs trauma,” where a woman has gotten bangs and it was a really bad decision that she should regret. The second category is “middle ground bangs” – which does happen – where the lady doesn’t really look that different with or without bangs, or when the bangs are done well (which is a spectacular feat). Then there is the unicorn, the rare woman who looks amazing with bangs and should never be without them.

Which of those three options is Behati Prinsloo? I feel sort of sorry for Behati, I think this is the first time I’ve ever covered her without the story having something to do with her new-husband Adam Levine. She’s a successful model in her own right, although she became much more famous when she got with Levine. Can we blame Levine for these bangs? Because I think these are full-on BANGS TRAUMA. Behati debuted The Trauma at a Super Bowl party on Saturday. I guess it’s taken this long for most sites to ID her. Because she looks so different with those hideous bangs.

You know who Behati reminded me of with her new hair? Bradley Cooper’s young girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse. Suki’s been doing a similar fringe for a few years. I kind of think Suki pulls it off better than Behati.

She reminded me of Suki too! Yeah these are awful. It changes her beautiful bone structure. All about those cheeks and jaw, baby!

  2. Cara says:

Yikes- not a good look on her. Lipstick doesn’t really do her any favors either.

I don’t agree. It’s fresh and on trend, plus she balances it without giant bolt ons. Anyone celeb with “normals” is punk rock for me. In think the bangs are an improvement.

Well, let me refine your appreciation for bangs.
-If a woman has a high forehead, she generally looks great with a fringe. This is because it brings her eyes into focus–eyes that were previously swamped by a five-head. I would know–I have one. You also need pretty strong features, or an oblong face shape (the fringe adds width).
-If a woman has a low forehead/hairline, she won’t look good with a fringe. It will just swamp her face and features, particularly if they are delicate.
-Behati has small eyes and she’s done a fringe that’s angled on the sides, which just covers up more of her eyes. I tell you, more women should do a BLUNT FRINGE.

I liked her old hair much better. Some people just look better with really long side swept bangs, or grown out ones. Maybe if they were cut a bit more? I don’t know. She’s not rocking them, and I generally like bangs.

does no favors for her face

She now looks like Paz Whoever, that scary drunk lady, and that is nota good thing. Bangs trauma indeed.

Kaiser please define what’s good bangs for you.
    I feel uncomfortable now !
    🙂

  7. scout says:

Behati’s bangs wayyy better than Beyonce’s short ugly bangs (Wig?) she had on display for a while. That was just repulsive.

  8. Goats on the Roof says:

Bless her heart, it’s just not a good look at all.

  9. Alexandra says:

I guess I’m the opposite- I love a good bang. I think it looks good on her. She looks good without then too but I think she can pull this off.

  10. Tifygodess24 says:

Wow between the lipstick and bangs her face looks So different.

  11. minx says:

Looks like two completely different people.
She doesn’t look as bad as others who get bangs, but I’m not a fan of bangs either.

  12. Jegede says:

    No. Just No.

  13. Scarlet Vixen says:

Maybe if she’d actually combed her damn hair the bangs wouldn’t look so bad. Her hair looks so ratty and gross, which really doesn’t help.

I can’t get over how the difference a change in makeup can make. I think it makes way more of a difference than the hair. But I guess that’s what makes her a desirable model–that chameleon aspect. Take away some eyeliner & add a dark lip (and take away a hairbrush) and she looks like a completely different person.

    • Esmom says:

Agreed about how different she looks with different makeup (or lack thereof). It’s pretty dramatic.

  14. Delta Juliet says:

Coming from a person with bangs, who has had them for most of my life, this is a BAD look on her. Poor girl.

  15. Amanda says:

I only like side bangs. These are awful on her.

  16. nicegirl says:

    Yep, trauma

  17. InvaderTak says:

They make her eyes look too close together. Also, are manicures no longer a thing? Been seeing some real bad nails on otherwise dressed/styled/well groomed ladies. Not saying it an absolute requirement for everyone (my own job laughs in the face of nail varnish) but on a red carpet why would you not? Even a neutral color.

  18. Crumpet says:

    Someone call the trauma unit.

  19. Kat says:

Yeah, but still nowhere near as traumatic as being legally bound to Summer’s Eve Levine (I’ll take the most busted set of bangs over him any day of the week!)

  20. kri says:

Awful. I thought it was BCoop’s babysitter/girlfriend too. Oh, gurrrrrll.NOPE.

  21. Lara says:

i didn’t even recognize her. they changed her completely because they are covering a decent amount of her already small eyes. she’s much prettier without them

  22. jferber says:

Yes, her face looks incredibly wide in a bad way with the bangs and her eyes look smaller. She looks much more like a super model the old way she did her hair. But, yes, Adam Levine is far worse than traumatic bangs. I just can’t with him (not that he’d have any woman beyond his preferred brand: Victoria’s Secret model). Any man who chooses women off the Victoria’s Secret menu exclusively is a pig in my eyes. So Adam is a pig.
