Bradley Cooper made out with Betty White on ‘SNL40’: funny or gross?

Bradley Cooper

Here’s a photo of Bradley Cooper on the SNL40 red carpet last night. He brought his mom, Gloria, as his date. I guess Suki Waterhouse wasn’t interested. She’s too young to remember anything good about SNL. The reunion episode was everything one would expect. Former stars hopped out of the woodwork into overstuffed skits that carried no merit but novelty value. Guest and musical stars (including Miley Cyrus) piled on en masse.

Bradley appeared in a silly skit called The Californians, and Twitter lit up with the magic of his Betty White kiss. Bradley played a beefcake poolboy named Greg (or Craig). It doesn’t matter. Betty and Bradley locked lips. He first appears at about 4:30, but the good stuff doesn’t happen until almost the end.

See, I told you Betty White scores all the fly tail. She’s living the dream … if that dream includes making out with BCoop.

The episode was a mess, but this is SNL, not high art. The best part was the opening monologue, which included Steve Martin as King Tut and Bill Murray as Nick Ocean the lounge singer. You can see the monologue (with NSFW language) here. Murray comes in with a Jaws love ballad at about 12:00.

Here are photos of several dudes on the red carpet. I’m including Jason Sudeikis with Olivia Wilde, Bill Murray, Alan Cumming, Eddie Murphy, Louis CK, and Dave Chappelle.

It was the high point of the Californians sketch…..which IMO isn’t saying much, I guess, since I hate that sketch to begin with. But Bradley was really, really funny in it – he’s a good at playing a surfer dude. And kissing Betty was cute too 🙂

    • Shambles says:

Whaaaaaat how could you hate the Californians?! I loved the earlier sketches with Kristin Wiig and Bill Hader. “Eeeeeeewwwwwuuuuut are yew deeewing here?”

  2. Aussie girl says:

Poor Betty, I wonder if she just closed her eyes and tried not to think of beige shorts. Haven’t seen the sketch but it does sound good. His mum looks like an older version of an Olsen twin in that coat and been a wee little thing. He obviously doesn’t get his height from her .

  3. Karen says:

Bradley and Betty were the best.

  4. Kiddo says:

I missed the first half hour. PRIORITIES: Brooklyn 99. But the SNL show was largely a disaster.
That sketch was terribly unfunny and nearly everyone sucked in it. Bradley was bad. Seven straight minutes of fake baby would have been funnier.

  5. scout says:

Very cool. Why not? She can have a shade of BCoop too, he is a lucky guy. Now he can say he has kissed best of best! Got to watch SNL.

  6. BJ says:

I loved the most the auditions tapes from past & present cast members and those Lorne not hired – including Jim Carrey & Stephen Colbert!

I loved Chris Rock’s tribute to Eddie Murphy but the latter was barely on the stage and told no jokes at all… Reminded me a bit about the N’SYNC re-union a couple of years ago at the VMAs. Talking about a very brief return.

Overall it was ok show with some good/great moments.

One last thing: Olivia Wilde & Jason Sudeikis are cute together or what.

Brad kissing anyone grosses the hell outta me. Poor Betty – it looked like he was in full python mode. Yuck.

    • jane16 says:

I know, poor Betty. It probably didn’t matter to Cooper, since to him all women are “yucky”.

Cooper did something to his face? He looks like Trussaud’s wax double

    • TracySmiles says:

Yeah, I’m with you on this. Whatever he has had done to his face is not good at all. He’s quite an attractive man IMHO (albeit with crazy stalker eyes) but if he’s doing crap to his face…. ugh!

  9. Ashley says:

It was a reunion/anniversary special not a full on episode of snl. I think it was supposed to be more about nostalgia and if that was the point it did its job.

  10. sr says:

what is wrong with his face. something about his eyes. did he have a procedure?

  11. boredblond says:

Betty to the rescue! I spent Sunday watching the first season of SNL on vh1–terrific stuff. This over hyped special was mostly a mess..disappointing.

  12. Boxy Lady says:

I actually surprised myself by not being grossed out. I called out to the TV,”Get it, Betty!” Is that terrible? Is it terrible that I don’t really care if it’s terrible? 🙂

  13. Pam says:

    YUCK @ his face!

  14. becky1 says:

I thought the show was mediocre but that The Californians sketch was actually kind of funny. B Coop was good..

  15. sophie says:

wish they had shown an actual clip of Gilda Radner as Rosanne Rosannadanna instead of Emma, and Chris Farley instead of MM. Also wish they had more clips of Phil Hartman. Glad to see Jane Curtin. Never like the Californians skits.

  16. Sara says:

I think Bradly Cooper brought his mother because Leo DiCaprio was in the audience with his mom. They probably hung out with each at the after party.

  17. M.A.F. says:

I was too busy watching The Walking Dead to tune in on time but from what I saw, I didn’t miss much.

  18. Lin says:

OMG Bradley, stop it right now! What on earth are you doing to your beautiful face!

    • Melanie says:

It could just be the lack of facial hair that is making him look different. Well, maybe that and normal aging.

  19. Lama Bean says:

I LOVE Alan Cumming, but I’m getting serious Pee-Wee Herman vibes here.

and yes, BCoop is just morphing into a totally different person in the face.

  20. A. Key says:

    Why would it be gross???
Oh you mean because she’s kissing Cooper? Yeah ok then…

  21. Veronica says:

I thought it was hilarious, though way too late in the skit. The joke should have landed well before that point.

  22. JLo says:

Growing up, Mondays were for rehashing the best moments from that week’s SNL over the lunch table. I haven’t watched since the Ferrell days because it hasn’t been funny for years and years. Sad 🙁

  23. AKA says:

One awkward moment was when Jerry Seinfeld took ?s from the audience. Michael Douglas asked why he wasn’t part of the show because he is Hollywood royalty & a sexual icon????? The look on CZJ face was priceless. She looked shocked & horrified.
