Charlize Theron in Halston at Sean Penn’s UK premiere: lovely or boring?

Here are some photos from last night’s London premiere of The Gunman. Charlize Theron is not in The Gumman, but Sean Penn is the lead, so Charlize came out to support her lover. Charlize’s gown is Halston Heritage and it’s an okay look. It doesn’t say “look at me, this is my film.” It says “my boyfriend stars in this junk.” So, completely suitable and nothing more. I don’t have a problem with her styling here, only that I sort of miss Charlize with really short hair. She rocks short hair better than nearly any other celebrity woman.

I watched the trailer for The Gunman for the first time just now, as I was writing up this post, and let me tell you… I guess Sean Penn needed money? Because this film looks like the kind of shoot ‘em up action/thriller “dude movie” that you would see Bruce Willis starring in. I’m actually sort of shocked to see Penn in the lead role. Girl, are you poor?!

It’s got good people in it. Javier Bardem looks like a sexy beast and it’s always nice to see Idris Elba, of course. Idris came out to the premiere too (I’m including a photo below). Also: Idris is scheduled to present at the Oscars this year. So far, Charlize and Sean are NOT scheduled. Huh.

What else? Charlize isn’t that much taller than Sean in real life, without shoes. She’s probably only an inch or two taller than him. So why does she wear three-inch heels (Stuart Weitzman) and then slouch beside him? Just wear flats! Or maybe he likes how tall she is. You ever know.

I was surprised he agreed to start in Jay and Beyoncé’s tour clip, he does not do many movies , most of these actors don’t have as much money as people think.

Idris Elba, Good Lawd! *fans self*

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yup. He has sex appeal oozing from every pore, doesn’t he? If he talked to me, I would blush and stammer and make a complete fool of myself, which is my very special way around really sexy men.

    • Sullivan says:

      +1
Oh, Idris, you are a gorgeous man.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I liked her hair better short, too. This length does nothing for her.

Charlize is always beautiful looking, but she needs to get rid of that POS on her arm! He is bringing her down, in my eyes! And I know that Penn is considered to be a GREAT actor, but I’ve always thought he was overrated! He was good in Mystic River and Dead Man Walking, but he usually tends to overact, in my opinion…and in every picture I see of him, he looks like he wants to punch someone in the face!

I came to this conclusion as well after seeing him in Milk. I couldn’t believe that he won an academy award for that schmatlz. He was overwrought in that role, and the speech impediment/lisp that he adopted for the role that was supposed to mimic Harvey Milk’s voice bordered on being laughable/offensive.

I thought he was amazing in Milk. That’s one of my all-time favourite movies. He might be a horrible person, but he is an incredible actor.

  5. Barrett says:

Isn’t he anti-gun now???? Why is he a money whore now in a movie entitled just that, “the Gunman”???????

    • OriginalTessa says:

The trailer was pretty anti-gun, anti-military if you ask me. It looked like he was part of professional private group, like Blackwater, and they were trying to erase evidence of the mission he took part in, so they were trying to kill him, yada yada.

Guys, check out Mark Rylance. He is not in these pics (he is in the Daily Fail pictures and was there) but is truly astounding and mesmerising on tv in the UK at the moment in a production of “Wolf Hall”. He wipes everyone off the screen and is truly one of the greatest actors of his generation. I hope we see him in more films rather than mainly theatre work.. He is playing Thomas Cromwell. If it gets to the US, please check it out. You wont be disappointed. Damian Lewis is Henry VIII and he is ok but hardly on screen.

Kaiser and Bedhead – we need more Jason Clarke and more Mark Rylance!

“Wolf Hall” is supposed to be on Masterpiece on PBS starting in April of this year. I am so looking forward to it!

  7. Chesty LaRue says:

I noticed her slouching too, just like Tom cruise made his ladies do. Tells a lot about the power balance in their relationship, and Sean’s own insecurity. I don’t like either of these two though so I hope they’re both miserable

  8. Micki says:

She looks beautiful but then I like her in nearly everything.

  9. Judyk says:

Think she looks stunning w/ short hair…don’t like longer hair on her at all.

  10. Crumpet says:

She is the picture of submission.

  11. poppy says:

her high heels? he wants to be sure the visual of ham troll climbing her is vivid?

  12. roxy750 says:

LOL a sexy beast! Love it, actually love Idris’ shoes. Those are sexy. I have said this before, might as well have at it again, honest to God what does this beautiful, successful, talented and wealthy woman see in a wrinkly, cigarette smelling old ass asshole of a guy like Penn? Ugh, it makes me sick. She can have any hot beast of a man and she picks him? WTF?
