Derick Dillard aimed his sled at a helpless cat, Team Cat is not amused

DD2

I haven’t paid much attention to Jill Duggar-Dillard and her husband Derick Dillard. I mean, I assumed they were nutjobs, of course, but they really haven’t seemed as aggressive about everything compared to the rest of the Duggar family. But this week, Derick has become Public Enemy #1. Well, the #1 Enemy of Team Cat.

The backstory: the East Coast and Mid-West has been crippled by snow for weeks now. Areas that normally don’t even see an inch of snow got a foot or more in February. So, that’s led to something nice: lots of kids and adults have gotten an extended winter holiday and a chance to do fun snow-related activities, like sledding. The Duggar family went out sledding at some point in the past week, and Derick Dillard decided to aim his sled at a poor little ginger cat who was just minding her own business on a snow bank. They filmed the whole thing.

Sledding with friends and family at the Duggar home 🙂 #smallestsled

A video posted by Derick Dillard (@derickdillard) on

What’s more disturbing? That Derick aimed his makeshift sled (it’s a baking sheet) at the cat or that the other Duggars laughed and laughed like it was the funniest thing to see a poor kitty get run over by a 180-pound dude?

Obviously, Team Cat is not amused. Team Cat is coming for the Duggars, Derick in particular. Team Cat lives on the internet. Team Cat is all over Derick’s social media, bitching him out. But he still hasn’t removed this video. TEAM CAT WILL GET THEIR REVENGE.

I didn’t think it was funny. What a jerk. I hope Team Cat goes for the jugular.

    • Belle Epoch says:

      + 1,000

That was a sick thing to do.

      • Frida_K says:

And the way they were all giggling and cackling in the background like a bunch of trolls and troglodytes is pretty effing repulsive too.

        What nasty, vile people.

        Team Cat all the way.

    • Sooloo says:

I refuse to click on the video – did he actually hit the cat?

      • Jennifer says:

It was hard to see exactly, but it looked like he ran right over the cat and then the cat immediately bounced back up and scurried away a little bit. Then, no kidding, the cat turned to look at Der dick, as if to say “what an asshole”.

      • Pinky says:

Me too. Won’t look. He’s a “sociopathetic” would-be serial killer.

      • Samtha says:

It looked to me like the cat darted out of the way.

      • anne_000 says:

To me, it looked like he hit the cat and then after being hit, the cat jumped back to get away from this jackass in case this jackass tried to hurt him again.

      • Gen says:

I can’t bear to watch either. Ugh! #Teamcat

      • Feeshalori says:

As an owner of three rescue cats, I also refuse to watch this disgusting video. But I am going home to give my kitties extra treats and kisses tonight.

      • laura in LA says:

I can’t watch it either. That poor cat, being out in the cold and being subjected to sociopathic cruelty…
Could the Duggards get any DOUCHIER than this?
I’m afraid to think they probably can. They should go far away and take Sarah Palin w/them.

      • good buddy says:

I can’t watch that kind of video either. What a creep.

    • NGBoston says:

Seriously. And this Dude just reminds me of a stupid back woods dork. He is creepy.

    • Duchess of Corolla says:

      +1

      Awful.

    • Pandy says:

All God’s creatures … guess they forgot that part. Although truthfully, I don’t believe they aimed at the cat. But I didn’t hear anyone saying OMG the cat’s in the way, etc.

      • Rachel says:

Actually I think hitting the cat was the entire point.

I’m sure they’ll hear a ton of backlash from this, but sadly, they’re so assured of their own moral superiority, they won’t even take into consideration that what they did was WRONG.

      • katy says:

        ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^this.

Rachel is right; even though all God’s creatures should be loved, these people are so lost in their own moral superiority that you couldn’t tell them that something they do is wrong, or abusive, or vile.

They probably believe cats are cohorts of witches, anyways.

Now I’m going to go home and cuddle my two cats they way they are supposed to be.

      • jc126 says:

I am willing to bet that they absolutely don’t regard pets or any animals as part of God’s creation, but rather as resources for people to use for their own ends. That bit about being given “dominion over all creatures”. (On a similar vein, people are often shocked to find that sometimes the Amish are mean to their horses and dogs – they have the same worldview).

      • anne_000 says:

If you listen to the audio, he aimed at the cat and the others supported him doing so.

(Uh… I don’t know why there’s a duplicate of my post. It happened before too. I didn’t mean for there to be a duplicate.)

      • anne_000 says:

If you listen to the audio, you can hear that he was purposely aiming at the cat and the others supported him doing so.

      • JB says:

He was aiming, 100%. So rude.

      • mayamae says:

@jc126, the Amish have some of the worst puppy mills in the country.

      • Josephine says:

@jc126 – they don’t even consider some humans as deserving of decent treatment or as God’s children, so I think there is little hope for the animals.

    • Mia V. says:

Team Cat all the way! Those people are so dumb is hard to believe natural selection hasn’t taken care of them yet.

    • prettylights says:

What a freaking jerk. I would expect this out of maybe a 10 year old but not a grown a$$ man. TEAM CAT. I hope that cat gouges out his eyes in his sleep.

    • Josephine says:

When I read the headline, I assumed the offender was a teen. Apparently he just completely lacks maturity and intelligence. Not surprised. I don’t think intelligence is encouraged in that group; harder to keep them suppressed.

    • Crumpet says:

It’s illegal to be cruel to animals. I hope they get reported. Is anyone on that?

  2. Snazzy says:

Can team cat make these idiots disappear?

    • Kiki04 says:

Before I clicked on this link I had no clue who he was! I wish I could go back in time to that point again. Poor cat.

    • Green Eyes says:

Yeah, like start a grease fire somewhere in D-Bag Family’s vicinity? I’ll provide the sticks for them to rub together!

    • Alice says:

Why won’t Arkansas pass a spay neuter law for these people? Disgusting.

  3. BRE says:

Totally asshole. Nothing shows your true personality like the way you treat animals.

    • Jenna says:

THIS 1000x over. One of the best bits of advice about the people I would date came from my gran who thought the depth of character a person had was shown in how they treated animals. You don’t get social standing or financial remuneration from that behavior, you can’t curry the goodwill forward into a personal asset, it can be the clearest view given of someone’s caliber of soul. If someone goes out of their way to be cruel to thing weaker then they are, simply because they ARE weaker… usually means there is some pretty twisted up morals running loose in their head.

That said, it’s not exactly shocking. I have family (only one side is this way) that make the Duggar’s look positively decadent and liberal and this mindset is pretty ingrained. The reasoning goes like this (and please understand I’m NOT in the same camp. Neither is my dad thank god!) God gave Man (and yup, man. Women tend to be actually slightly ~below~ the family hunting dog) dominion over the animal kingdom, which means that as man has the godgiven power, they can do whatever they want to dominate fully said kingdom. (The idea that, hey, maybe if god put humans on the top of the stack it was to, oh, I don’t know… protect those that can’t do it for themselves is usually viewed as heretical.) It’s sick but it’s pretty common in a lot of the ultra conservative circles here in the US.

First time I ever fought back in that part of my family was after watching my uncle torture a puppy. I feel incredibly guilty it took it getting to that point to make me realize I could fight back, but thankful in a no doubt twisted way for that poor dog. Made me see I could fight for my beliefs and that I could stand up to the insanity.

      • sally says:

        so true.

      • Algernon says:

“Watch how he treats his dog when he thinks no one is looking,” is what my nan always said. Good advice.

      • Wren says:

I agree entirely. “If you want to know a man’s true nature, watch how he treats waiters and animals,” is something I heard as a kid. It’s so true.

People who mistreat animals are scum of the earth, and I have no time for the “man has dominion” theory. Maybe it’s another symptom of emotional and sexual repression. You gotta get your rocks off doing something, and if you can’t dance, sing, gamble or have sex, I guess dominating animals (or anything “below” you) is what you’re left with. Hurray.

      • Hannah says:

        @jenna
I dunno…I think what they did was really mean and obviously animal abuse is never acceptable but I’m not a fan of generalizing to other aspects of people’s personalities. They’re not the most caring towards animals clearly, and that’s all you can really say.

      • Jenna says:

@hannah Sorry Hannah, but this IS gonna be something I at least generalize about pretty comfortably. I’ve never known anyone who went out of their way to put animals in danger (as well as being cheered on by the crowd for doing so) that wasn’t seriously disturbed. It’s considered one of the triad of psychopathic behaviors for a reason. Do I think there are people out there who just don’t care all that much for critters that are good people? Yup. Of course. Some people are afraid of animals, some can live quite happily without animals in their daily lives – but going out of your way to frighten and endanger animals for no reason other then it’s something to ‘joke’ about? I’m gonna hold firm on thinking thats a pretty clear sign a person is mentally disturbed.

Better actually to view it as a mental disorder. Otherwise it’s just being cruel and evil for the sake of being so… and that seems even more damning personally.

      • Crumpet says:

That attitude is completely unbiblical. Proverbs 12:10: “The godly care for their animals, but the wicked are always cruel.”

      • K says:

I think lacking empathy for animals is a red flag as well, but tbh I know some who have plenty of empathy for animals, and none for people. That’s a red flag, too.

I can’t watch that video though. Vile thing to do to a defenceless animal just minding its own business.

    • Esmom says:

Agreed. And as such a vocal Christian, did he forget about loving all of God’s creatures?

      • NGBoston says:

        Yes! Someone should ask him!!!!

      • AntiSocialButterfly says:

Of course, because uneducated zealots like them think cats are the devil’s minions.

        #TEAMCAT all the way.
Dick Dillweed will regret that cruelty and ignorance. I would wager it’ll be an epic battle between the extended ignorant Duggar clan and the entirety of the internet. Well, one can hope, anyway.
SPCA, PETA, their local LE department, the Humane Society, etc., etc.

    • Loulou says:

      TEAM CAT 4EVER!!!

      • sally says:

        team cat forever and always!!!

p.s. derick has more than 400K instagram followers…wtf?

    • Judyk says:

What is remotely funny about that…he aimed directly for the poor cat. What a MORON. I can’t stand this family. TEAM CAT.

      Please make them go away.

    • polkasox says:

I’m much more of a dog person but harassing animals is never funny. Poor kitty.

  5. amanda says:

wow if that were a kid, I’d hope it’s parents would whoop the sh*t outta him right in front of everybody.

A shame that somebody who has such high standards on how to live your life and treat other human life doesn’t have respect for the rest of life.

  6. Lindy79 says:

Dickhead, but not surprised at any behaviour by this freakshow family.

    • Brin says:

He seems lacking in brain cells (19 brain cells and counting).

    • Sabrine says:

They do not believe certain segments of the population, their fellow citizens, should have any rights so cruelty to animals isn’t much of a surprise. It is really disappointing to see TLC sing the praises of these people and renew their contract year after year.

      • Kitten says:

Exactly. It has been talked about many times around here how these people treat animals like trash.

      • Kiddo says:

So I guess TLC is a toilet now? The latrine channel.

      • Wren says:

It’s the money. TLC couldn’t give a crap what these idiots do as long as they bring in the sweet, sweet money. If people didn’t watch, this family wouldn’t be on TV.

      • Josephine says:

I said the same above before I saw your post. It bothers me that they pretend to be Christians. I found nothing Christian about the way they treat all females in the family, and the way they treat other people, let alone animals.

    • TeaAndSympathy says:

Ugh, what a gronk. Let’s rename him Dullard. #TeamCat

      • Lilacflowers says:

No, this is Gronk and he likes kittens. http://s3-ec.buzzfed.com/static/2014-12/10/12/enhanced/webdr01/enhanced-17969-1418233987-27.png

Other names are more suitable for that Dullard DuggarDillard.

      • NGBoston says:

We love our Rob G here in Boston. Before NE won the Super Bowl, he was out in one of our local Coffee chain shops surprising customers handing out food & bevs at the drive through window. All smiles and laughs and just a really good dude who is grateful to be so loved and blessed. And he is just HUGE!

Would like to add again, this Dillard dude is an asshat and I am glad he is getting grief.

      • TeaAndSympathy says:

Thanks, Lilacflowers… There’s a man named Gronk? Well, he looks like a nice fella. Here in Australia, the term is a derogatory one; “a gronk” as opposed to the proper noun. But you knew that…

      • Esmom says:

Gronk is short for his last name, Gronkowski.

Finally having a sports fanatic son is coming in handy! 🙂

      • Kitten says:

Oh man I SO badly needed that Gronk and kitten photo right now. Thanks. Lilacflowers.

        Well done, Esmom! 😉

      • doofus says:

even though I’m a Giants fan (True Blue!!!), a pic of a hot man with a kitteh will always make me smile, regardless of team affiliation.

well, except maybe a Dallas player.

Hot guys with cats (more adorable than hot). http://hotguyswithcats.com/

  7. NewWester says:

What a disgusting excuse for a human being. Team Cat should tie him to a chair, cover him in honey and pour buckets of used cat litter all over him

  8. Miffy says:

Nothing amuses me more than an inconvenienced and pissed off cat, but that was mean. He could have really hurt her. She was just sitting there minding her own business. Not super christian but I guess kindness to animals doesn’t really fit in the super nutjob right wing branch of christianity.

    • Norman Bates' Mother says:

Exactly. I know a super religious nutjob family like this (it’s aimed at fanatics and not religious people in general) and they are known for their hatred towards animals. The mother was my father’s co-worker and she couldn’t understand why we would keep a dog and a cat in our flat – we don’t have a yard to protect, mice to catch, you can’t milk, eat or ride a dog/cat, therefore city dogs/cats are useless and all should be put down. Also, in middle school, I had a teacher with extremely conservative religious views and he told us we would all go to hell because he heard we had some sort of pet appreciation day in class and in his mind, animals are here to serve humans and to be eaten by humans and those people, who treat animals like family members and who say they love their animals, are sinners. And the worst of all – my poor dachshund was killed by a guy like this. My dad was so mad he almost attacked him and the killer was defending himself by quoting the Bible.

      • jc126 says:

I’m sorry that happened to you.
I went to Catholic school and one time a theology teacher or a priest (can’t remember which) told us that we couldn’t REALLY love our dogs because animals weren’t human, and so could’t bond with us the same way – it was really stupid and was probably one of the first comments that led me to heathenism, lol.

      • NGBoston says:

Sick and twisted. Sorry for your loss and what they put you and you Dad through.

    • Lindy79 says:

Unfortunately it’s usually in my experience the fanatical ones that are the most hypocritical, judgmental, nasty and unchristian like while consistently banging on about how good and god fearing they are and how they’re first in the queue to get into heaven.

      • doofus says:

        this.

the people who shout from the rooftops about how “christian” they are?…usually the worst offenders.

if you LIVE like a Christian, you don’t have to keep telling people that you’re a Christian. they’ll see it in the way you live your life and the way you treat others (especially the less fortunate or downtrodden). and yes, how you treat animals, too.

as someone said, what would Jesus do?…not try to hurt innocent animals, I’m pretty sure of that.

      • Christin says:

Agree with @doofus 100 percent. The walk speaks louder than the talk, IMO.

      • Esmom says:

        doofus, Amen.

      • anne_000 says:

        @doofus: +10000

      • MtnRunner says:

Doofus, hell yes to infinity. Just look at Jesus and the way he treated those that were the most helpless and oppressed in society — the poor, the disabled, women and children. I think we can infer that he would treat animals the same way. Not like this asshole, asserting his physical superiority over a little cat.

I’m not even a cat person but I’m Team Cat today.

    • aang says:

My daughter spent a year at a Catholic high school and one of the sisters refused to allow the girls to pray for any animal, even their own sick pets, during morning prayers.

      • Catk says:

Not indicative of all Catholicism, at all. Hello, St. Francis of Assisi. And I wouldn’t include Catholicism under a comment on “super nut job right-wing Christians.”

      • Lilacflowers says:

Many Catholic parishes have a Blessing of the Animals day each year so that nun is not indicative of the faith at all.

      • Fancyamazon says:

Yes, that would not be the norm for Catholics at all. There are patron saints devoted to animals and pets. Also what Catk says is true. People mush Catholics in with the right wing fundamentalist evangelicals all the time. I have a theory on it, that Catholics are very easy to identify via the habit and collar and so on, while most other Christian leaders wear clothes that blend in with the general populace. And for that they take heat meant for others.

      • jwoolman says:

That’s definitely not standard Catholic procedure (survivor of 16 years of Catholic education here). St. Francis of Assisi is a Very Big Deal and he is promoted as a model for how other critters should be treated (hence the naming of the Assisi Loop that saved Internet feline sensation Li’l Bub’s life). There is a special blessing of the animals in Catholic practice, where kids bring their pets into church for the blessing from the priest in some places. I remember going through the list of saints in the missal figuring out which St. Sylvester (yes, there was more than one) was the patron saint of our cat when I was in grade school (yes, he looked like the famous Sylvester the Cat, but was smart enough to try to poke at Tweety the feisty parakeet only once). I think I chose some bishop as his patron saint. I told people he was a Catlic.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

The popen actually declared recently that dogs and cats go to Heaven. Saint Francis was famous for his kindness to animals. That nun is a nutjob.

is there any talk of reporting this creep for animal cruelty? I am on Team Cat all the way.

      • Kitten says:

I’m surprised by this as well. I grew up in an Irish Catholic town and all my friends had pets that were very much loved and cherished. Blessing of the Animals Day is awesome.

        That nun sounds kinda jerky.

      • Adrien says:

I believe they have Patron Saints for pets. St. Gertrude for cats and St. Roche for dogs. I know this because the vet clinic outside our office was named after the two saints.

      • aang says:

Yes, we take our dog to mass every year for a blessing on St Francis’ feast day. I was mentioning one sister. Not all the sisters at the school.

      • Esmom says:

Yes, I’ve never heard of a Catholic church that didn’t have a Blessing of the Animals celebration.

Not to defend the nun, but maybe she thought including animals would make morning prayers too long?

      • Sally J. Freedman says:

My son is in Catholic school, and yes he did indeed have a day where the kids brought in their pets to be blessed. It was really sweet. There were all sizes of dogs there, cats, birds, lizards, and even a snail! It was a beautiful thing seeing Father blessing each animal. They also got a St. Francis de Asissi medal to put on their collars.

      • epiphany says:

Blame that on the nun, not Catholicism. Catholics have a long, long history of loving, and yes, blessing animals. Ever hear of St. Francis of Assisi? His feast day is October 4th; parishioners bring their pets to church – yes, inside the church – and the priest blesses them. This has been going on for centuries. It’s people like the Duggars and the nun at your daughter’s school who give Christianity a bad name.

      • spaniard says:

Papa Francisco said recently that all animals go to heaven. San Francisco and especially San Antonio Abad were animal protectors so it was an awful nun not Catholicism. In Spain we go to church to bless pets on January 17th, San Antonio’s Day.

    • Joy says:

Well, I’m from Arkansas, and this has pissed me off today. Here I go to light up his Instagram. And Twitter.

    • Kirsten says:

So christian! I forgot their version of Christianity only applies to men alone. women, cats, anyone else be damned.

God I hate this family! Team cat 4 life!

Also the ginger kitty looks just like my Chester so I’m super angry rn.

  9. Justine says:

    Disgusting man-boy, ugh! #team cat

  10. Kaley says:

The sanctity of life. Really important up until you pop out of that womb. After that, you’re on your own losers!

    • Kat says:

Evidently, being pro-life means you support the notion that a woman should have to carry a fetus to term. As the great George Carlin said, conservatives are obsessed with the [human] fetus from conception to nine months; outside of that, they don’t want to know about you nor hear from you!

      • portlandjan says:

        Also courtesy of Carlin: ” If you’re pre-born, you’re fine. If you’re pre-school, you’re f****d”.

    • MtnRunner says:

To be fair there are Christian organizations who provide maternity, adoption and counseling services for those who choose to carry their children to term. They also provide post abortion counseling if the mother chooses that route. Please don’t lump all Christians in the Dugger camp. I’ve known plenty that act like Jesus and show real compassion. They don’t tend to be in the news though.

      • Josephine says:

Sadly, you have to act in the ugliest ways to get into the news or have a tv show these days. if someone were to judge us as a race based on what is on tv, I don’t think they would feel compelled to want to know us at all.

  11. J-G says:

I didn’t want to watch the video. Is the cat ok?

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yes, but he or she was frightened and ran away after that halfwit nearly ran over him, while the other charming family members cackled and hooted with laughter. They really are just disgusting people. Stupid and mean is not a good combination.

      • J-G says:

Isn’t there a special place in hell for people who are cruel to animals?

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

There should be. I looked at their Instagram page and their defenders are saying how Christian they are and “it’s just a cat.” Ugh.

      • Sabrine says:

This Dillard strikes me as being on the immature side. When he’s got 10 kids in 10 years, maybe his smile will be a little less brilliant.

    • Fancyamazon says:

The cat is fine, thankfully. However, the video says a lot about them to me. If they treat helpless animals like that, how much loving kindness can they have?

      • jwoolman says:

It’s pretty well established that cruelty to animals is a precursor to violence against humans and a very serious sign of trouble in children old enough to know what they are doing. So even if you’re only fond of humans, kindness to animals is important and lack of it is a mental health issue. Even people who eat other animals are not naturally disposed to be cruel to them if they are emotionally healthy.

I remember one chilling discussion with a computer salesman, who casually said he’d like to kill his neighbor’s cat because the cat was leaving paw prints on the hood of his car (apparently the thought of protecting his precious vehicle against paw prints and birdie doo with a plastic sheet didn’t occur to him). He wasn’t joking. He was very cold and emotionless about it. I think the only thing that prevented him was property laws that might be used if he did kill the cat and was caught. I figured laws were the only thing preventing him from killing pesky human kids as well. I bought my computer elsewhere. I couldn’t get away from that guy fast enough, he was scary.

    • smcollins says:

I don’t want to watch it either (I don’t need my bp spiking so early in the morning), but based on some of the comments it sounds like the cat wasn’t hurt. What an a**hole! That whole family makes my stomach turn.

  12. BengalCat2000 says:

This gives me such rage…. *Grabs Bengal kitty and Xanax bottle*

    • TeaAndSympathy says:

Aw… We recently got a Bengal kitty, too – he’s adorable but slightly bonkers, I think. That likely explains why he was the last one left…

    • Kitten says:

*scoots over next to Bengal, grabs Xanax and lights spliff*

Bengals are stunning creatures, so are my Scottish Folds, and so is every sweet shelter kitty, and every feral cat. Like all animals, they need our protection.

I cannot STAND these awful people.

      • BengalCat2000 says:

@ kitten and T&S, I’ve got plenty of room for you and your kitties! My Bengal is a rescue from a couple of coke heads and she is the calming love cat Queen! I’ve had pets of all kinds and cannot wrap my head around animal abuse. In a perfect world, these people would have short lives, taken out by a wild creature, Ancient Rome style.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Sits down and opens a bottle of wine. My Maine coon is a shelter rescue and has more personality than most humans. She also is never silent. If she isn’t expressing her views by braying like a donkey, purring like a prop plane, she is snoring. Loudly I can’t understand how anyone could be cruel to such fascinating creatures

      • TeaAndSympathy says:

Well, thank you, BengalCat2000! I’ve got a huge house, so there’s plenty of room for you, too, along with any and all kitties. And the meteorologists have predicted a warm Autumn for us in Australia… We also have a much older and wiser tabby rescue cat who has decided (read “deigned”) to play father to the kitten, showing him all the best sleeping spots, best possies to catch the sun’s rays on cool days, best hidey-holes, cuddliest blankets, best way to dart out in front of us when we least expect it, most effective way of getting tummy rubs on demand etc etc… Aaahhh, bliss.

      • BengalCat2000 says:

This story made me angry but now you guys are making me Feel (and it’s not just the Xanax, I promise!) ☺

I watched a friend’s kitten die from an infection a few days ago. People who don’t honor animals are the scariest of all.

      • FLORC says:

        Bengal
Funny you say that. A friend of mine adopted/rescued and aBengal from a couple of coke heads as well. Coincidence? Maybe. Poor thing is still super skiddish, but massive.

There’s something so evil about people who think causing fear in or injuring an animal is a pass time. Or funny. Or socially acceptable. It’s a hallmark of a soulless pos psychopath.
The animal isn’t harming you. Most animals just want warmth and some behind the ear scratches. Not to be attacked because you can.
WHO finds it appropriate to cause pain to another living creature simply because you can?! Oh i’m so stabby and ragy right now!

      • NGBoston says:

My cats were all rescued by my Husband and I from low-income housing in the City where former owners have left them abandoned.

We are all not crazy people on here–.it’s like someone posted above– a real Christian or anyone who believes in God knows we are to show love to all of God’s creatures. This is with exception to heinous murderous individuals who commit horrible crimes, pedophiles or any dangerous animals who may threaten to kill or harm us but have not been provoked.

      • Kitten says:

        Here, here, fellow animal-lovers!

      • BengalCat2000 says:

@FLORC, that is very strange indeed! I love animal rescue stories. As others have said, we have to look after them. I’ve called the police on people like the Duggars, because, f@ck them. Taking this cat was the best thing I’ve ever done. I gave some cash to the fiends and didn’t look back. She is health, smart, loves playing in water and is a breathing work of art!

      • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

When I read the title, I was like “Oh shit! I don’t wanna see O’Kitten’s response to this…”……..it’s disgusting and not funny. And especially to put it up on SOCIAL MEDIA…..wow. Shows they have no shame.

      • FLORC says:

        VC
I thought the same. That Kitten was going to blow a blood vessel in her eye over rage against this video.

And was that cat their cat? Because if that belonged to another family someone should do something.

  13. bbg says:

I don’t even like cats – but I like ’em more than Duggars, so, for today, I guess it’s #teamcat!

  14. Lindy79 says:

What makes me laugh/cry is if you go into his Instagram, there are so many people defending him and denying he aimed at the cat. Never mind there was yards of other space he could have gone other than aim directly at a cat sitting about 4 feet from him. He’s a God fearing Christian so would never do that. Total utter hypocrites.

    Utter cockcheeses.

    • SamiHami says:

And it doesn’t even matter if someone likes cats (or dogs, or any animal). It’s a matter of simple human decency. You don’t harm animals unless it’s in self defense or defense of another. People who think harming, or even frightening, an animal is amusing are not christian, regardless of what they proclaim.

Disgusting. I never really had a strong opinion either way for the Duggars until now.

      • Kitten says:

EXACTLY, SamiHami. Life is life. I don’t care for Canada geese, but I’d still brake for them if I saw one crossing the road.

    • tifzlan says:

The cat was a bright orange blob in a sea of white snow. Unless he is medically blind, he and his mindless minions can spare me with the “I didn’t see it!” excuse. The other Duggar girl, Jwhatsherface said it’s our ~duty~ to judge others for their action. I’m definitely going to take that advice and judge the HELL out of the Duggars, even more so now than i was before.

      • Lindy79 says:

He clearly says “move cat” before aiming straight for it so it was fully intentional.
He positioned the sled about 4 feet from the cat before some bint starts going “push him, push him!”

        Vile vile vile vile!

    • bluhare says:

I think I’m going to have to borrow cockcheese. That’s absolutely disgusting! (And an excellent descriptor of this moron.) I think I just insulted morons everywhere. Apologies!

    • anne_000 says:

      @Lindy79 – I agree totally with you.

It really shows what type of ‘Christians’ his supporters are when they outright lie or purposely ignore the evidence that the Dullards themselves captured on video and audio. I can’t imagine any decent person coming up with excuses and/or lying for these creeps.

    • lunchcoma says:

Agreed. Also, if it was an accident, why didn’t anyone stop and say, “Hey, this looks really bad. Why don’t we keep the mishap where Derick hit the cat off the internet?” They posted this because it was done on purpose, everyone thought it was funny, and no one considered that it was wrong.

  15. Lilacflowers says:

May a feral Maine coon cat and a feral Siamese wage a nighttime turf war below his bedroom window for all eternity.

    • Lilacflowers says:

And for those who have never heard one, a Maine coon makes a noise similar to a braying donkey. But louder.

    • Lindy79 says:

I just wish the cat had attached itself to him like an Alien Facehugger and scratched the living shit out of him

    • doofus says:

or maybe just pee all over their porch, repeatedly? can’t get rid of THAT smell to easily…

    • doofus says:

send them here…where the cats outnumber the people 6 to 1.

(hope this link is OK with you, celebitchy…)

      http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/03/03/cat-island-japan-aoshima-_n_6789450.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news

      • FLORC says:

Just drop him there with only the clothes on his back. He’ll have to sleep at some point…

This reminds me of that Tales From The Crypt episode about the old man who was haunted by a cat looking to claim his soul. He killed loads of cats in his day. So a black cat started hanging around him to torment him antil eventually ending him.

    • Lilacflowers says:

@Florc, when I first got mine, she would get in the tub when I was taking a shower and roll around in the water at my feet. She’s been loving the 7 feet of snow we’ve had. She goes out on the porch in a harness and leash and burrows into the snowdrifts

      • FLORC says:

        That’s adorable Lilacflowers!
When my maine coon was a kitten if you went to wash your hands in a sink he would jump in like it was his bed. Adorable

They really enjoy all things water related. Snow is just another form.

    • lunchcoma says:

And may a pair of raccoon mate on the roof throughout the battle. May owls consume rodents outside their kitchen window as they eat dinner. May deer eat their garden. May unseen dogs leave evidence of their presence on their lawn. So say we all.

  16. OSTONE says:

I am just waiting for the day this psycho people do something “impure” that is filmed.. or say something that would make their followers turn on them.. So they can go. away.

    • dr mantis toboggan says:

What if we find out the cat was pregnant?

    • jwoolman says:

It will be a cat that will take him down. They can carry miniature cameras on their collars now (cat cams, to see what kitty does all day). There is no place on the planet where he can be unobserved.

      • portlandjan says:

Be assured that cats have their own rumor mill. And that the one in Arkansas has been clacking like a geiger counter since early yesterday.

  17. lucy2 says:

They try to hide it behind their religion, but I think there’s a strong streak of cruelty in that family.

    • jc126 says:

I absolutely agree. I also think they’re seriously narcissistic.
I’m kind of glad that their extremism is getting to be more widely known. A few years ago, all I kept reading online about these nuts were comments like “well, the kids are well behaved so they must be doing something right” or “they’re not hurting anyone” blah blah.

  18. Insomniac says:

What a scumbag. I’m sure Jesus would totally try to run down an animal.

  19. rianic says:

I say animals are a test from God to see how we would act if we were Him. T

  20. FKA Pri says:

He probably thinks since he’s Christian he is allowed to do such shit as he pleases. He reads the Bible people. Arse!

  21. JoJo says:

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” –Gandhi

    Love Gandhi. 🙂

  22. greenmonster says:

I always wanted to say this and it never fit better: that guy needs a high five. In the face. With a sled, made of steel. Twice. From Hulk – on a really bad day.

    • funcakes says:

And one to the face for the bad flowbie haircut. They do look intellectually challenged.

  23. Hope says:

If he tried that with my cat she would have clawed his eyes out and had them for tea…

    • greenmonster says:

If he tried that with my cats I would show him what hell can be like. Even the devil would be jealous and thinking “Why didn’t I think of that?”.

  24. Giddy says:

May the contents of a thousand litter boxes end up on their porch!

  25. epiphany says:

Forget about Team Cat going after these people – wait until God gets ahold of them! Given the way in which these idiots distort the beliefs and spirit of Christianity to suit their own purposes – God wants you to have so many kids you require public assistance and your uterus prolapses, yeah, right – they probably think cats are minions of Satan. #CATSAREGODSCREATURES

    • Lilacflowers says:

But that’s in the after-life. Until then, may cats make their lives miserable and God can laugh at them.

  26. Jazz says:

    F*** this sanctimonious P.O.S!

  27. Lucy says:

    TEAM CAT 4LIFE. Destroy him!!!!!!!!

  28. Kitten says:

I just don’t understand what GROWN-ass adult man would think to do something like this.
The saddest part is that they’ll model this kind of behavior for their children and will raise another generation of people who have no respect for life.

    • Lindy79 says:

Exactly. There were kids present, watching this and listening to their screechy laughter so will grow up thinking this kind of bullshit is ok.
The poor cat had it’s back to him too. Just sitting there minding it’s own business, naturally not expecting a toolbag on a baking tray to come at it.

Urgh, I can’t with this useless bunch of skidmarks on the pants of the world.

      • FLORC says:

He’s immature. There’s a cultural difference i’ve witnessed 1st hand here. The boys are only to learn a skill, impress older men and later take a wife for children. That’s it. Maturity is not required. That is the factor he’s missing. Becoming a man as we view it and as he views it are completely different.

Still, people understand things from a young age. Harming an animal is one of those things. That he’s laughing shows him to be a monster.

  29. Suzy from Ontario says:

Great post Jenna and I agree 100%. I will never understand people who think teasing or tormenting an animal is funny. But then I remember when Anna Duggar got a kitten for their daughter and when it got bigger put it outside and stopped feeding it or letting it in. These people have no empathy or compassion at all. They are all about themselves.

  30. epiphany says:

Don’t blame Jesus for what these idiots did! This wasn’t a Christian assault, it was a Duggar assault!

  31. Sofacat says:

I have no idea who this guy is, but that still entitles me to say he’s 100% pure a**hole.

  32. Eileen says:

I have a gorgeous, handsome tabby cat and the thought of cat cruelty sickens me. Unfortunately those who drink the duggar kool aid will write off this controversy as animal rights wackos mark my words

  33. spaniard says:

I am a kitty owner and an animal lover and I swear to God that if this nasty b*stard ever comes my way I may end up in hell but entering through the main gate and up in arms. Big style like a champion.

  34. Jaded says:

Maybe this POS should read his bible a little more deeply, if he can read:

“Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you. Which of these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”

    Job 12:7-10

    • anne_000 says:

      @Jaded –

+1000000. Really on the nose. Thanks.

Bible-thumping hypocrites like Dullard use only the parts of the Bible that suit their egos and their own sense of morality rather than use the whole of the Bible to change themselves into better people.

  35. esblondie2 says:

    HOW CHRISTIANLIKE!
    Effing hypocrites.

  36. Cindy says:

He is so icky. Poor kitty.

  37. kri says:

What is this a$$hole’s problem? Did he run out of squirrels to shoot? First cousins to make out with? No more white lightning mash to drink? Oh my god, what a jerk. I hope he gets dunked in vat of male cat pee. I can’t watch the vid, even though you guys seem to be saying the cat is okay. So, listen you ham-brained smeller of your own farts-be ready. you messed with a ginger cat and now you will pay because KARMA. F^ckface.

  38. Jane says:

That’s not what Jesus would do. I think Jesus wouldn’t be too pleased.
Anyone who deliberately tortures or harms an animal should have a special place reserved for them in hell.

    • Lindy79 says:

Yep, I’m pretty certain that Jesus would be side eyeing anyone for acting like a douche by sliding down a hill on a baking try, wearing a stupid onesie and aiming for a cat.

      Just a hunch.

      • MtnRunner says:

You assume correct. Probably saying something like, “I died for that too”. I doubt these people would listen, however.

  39. booboobird says:

Didn’t watch the video but i can still pass judgment…#teamcat always.
this is just a judgmental shoutout to all the asshats on instagrams and you tubes and vimeos and other places…your funny animal videos are not funny..especially when you are trying to sneak up on an animal to scare it, pretending to give it food thru glass table, making it jump when you know it will fall or tossing it into a tub full of water…ha ha it is not…that’s animal cruelty

  40. antisocial says:

I whole heartedly agree with all the comments here. Those who engage in, endorse, or abide animal cruelty deserve a fate worse than death. There just aren’t words to describe that kind of vileness.

I would like to point out that People (AKA Kneepads for the mini van majority) has thus far refrained from addressing what this P.O.S. did, presumably bc this “Christian” band of breeders is their new favorite entity.

    I can’t w/ the Hypocrites.
And I won’t with a publication that protects trash like them for their bottom line.

Team Cat. Team Dog. Team Animal. Always.

I believe Twain said, “If man could be crossed with the cat, it would improve man but deteriorate the cat.”

  41. Deanne says:

These idiots have been abusing and neglecting animals for years.. They are horrible people. I don’t care how uneducated they are, there is no excuse for their behaviour. Derick is about to become a Father. His behaviour and his brainwashed dunce of a wife, cackling like a witch, while he attempts to harm an innocent cat, make me feel ill. I’m sure they can’t wait to start blanket training their new infant. Harming the innocent seems to go part and parcel with their brand of ” Christianity” . I literally hate this family and the sugar coating they get.

  42. portlandjan says:

What I hope is that his bosses in the Walmart accounting dept. will see or hear about this. Granted, Walmart is soulless and heartless but they want to clean up their public image . He made himself highly visible when he married into Stalag Duggar, and it’s commonly known that he works there. Walmart’s will NOT be amused to see him and his in-laws blackening their name even further,

  43. Meggin says:

    What a jerk!!

  44. Sister Carrie says:

First, let me clarify: TeamCat all the way!! As the human currently gifted with the presence of 10 rescue kitties, let me say that if he had done this to any of MY companions, he’d be missing some teeth and he may no longer be able to reproduce.

That said, I am intrigued by the fact that this cat was just sitting around on a snowy hill. While I’m sure some felines like the snow, I have yet to see one just calmly lounge around in it.

    • anne_000 says:

I think that the fact that the cat was just sitting there calmly shows that throughout it’s life, it’s been comfortable with all the activity and people around him.

But now that Dullard taught it that not all humans can be trusted and that some are just cruel pieces of worthless crap, it’s probably going to be wary of being near human strangers for the rest of its life. Very sad.

  45. anita says:

What a bunch of self rituous blowhards. They put on a show for the public about how they are so moral and have such good values. They’re just a bunch of uneducated and unenlightened religious fanatics. I guess their goodwill only extends as far as their tv audience. Whenever they speak they show what a bunch of doofus’ they really are. Cruelty to animals, what a great value to be demonstrating to your truckload of children.

    ++++++

  46. Honeybee Blues says:

Typically when a public situation occurs regarding animals, even my Third Eye gets ready to start rolling at PETA’s customary histrionic response, but in this case, I might even set up a Google alert for this shit show. It will be 15 weeks this Saturday that I had to say goodbye to my sweet Dufus, (a tuxedo), just a few months before his 17th birthday. Yes, he had a good, long life, but my heart aches daily. So, personally, I want this sadist hurt, and hurt badly. The circumstances of his life simply isn’t punishment enough for this kind of thing. I hope the local CPS is paying attention. Men who hurt animals also hurt children in overwhelming statistical cases. He WILL beat his kids.

  47. Miran says:

    #teamcat forever, fu*k these people.

  48. laura says:

I have a sled too, if I see you in my hood I’ll aim it at you big pussy, meow

  49. Ana says:

Also sad and disturbing, the number of likes that post has…
    #teamanimal 😛

    • Kori says:

It is sad. Hopefully more people are like those on celebitchy. I don’t think there’s been one positive comment towards him or even a half-hearted ‘well the cat was okay so no harm done’. He’s just been roundly trashed as he should be. I have one badass kitty cat (a rescue stray so used to some life on the street) and if he would’ve pulled that crap on her, she would’ve lept up after him and clawed him but good. Actually she probably would’ve pulled some ninja kitty moves on him and jumped up as he got near her, landed on his back and clawed his neck and head the rest of the way down.

  50. cynicalsmirk says:

I sincerely hope that he gets charged with cruelty to animals by his local humane society. I hope that he will not only get fined, but have to do some sort of community service. He is a dickhead.

    • FLORC says:

He will get his in time.

BTW I never took notice before of the gravitars that are animal themed.
Mine if 1 chipmunk giving a flower to another 🙂 Or itlooks that way at least.

  51. bluhare says:

The comments here are helping redeem my faith in humanity. 🙂

  52. sad says:

It’s not just Derick. The family has a bad record with animals. Another poster above already mentioned the Anna and kitten heartbreaker. There was an incident with Michelle stuffing kittens in a pitcher (yes, you read that correctly). Yet, they think their poop doesn’t stink. “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Romans 12:19

  53. khaveman says:

Someone in his city or county should be outraged and call the local authorities or SPCA/ASPCA. It’s just not funny.

    • enraged says:

Please, can someone please do this!? Someone, please please, if you are in the area, please forward this video to the local authorities.
That cat could have been killed because of their disgusting behaviour.

  54. Feeshalori says:

What an immature, smug Dullard whose IQ is no doubt his shoe size.

  55. Rev. Brandy says:

I love when self-proclaimed Christians behave 180 degrees from what their Savior taught. Seriously? Makes you wonder how they cared for all those children, if it’s entertainment to run down an animal. Maybe when the baby fell down and hurt itself, its caretaker child pointed and laughed, elbowing the other caretaker children? I hope that cat sings the song of its people and leads a feline assault on everything Duggar!

  56. I Choose Me says:

F*ck that guy and the whole Duggar clan. Cannot stand people who mistreat animals. I’m so glad the cat is okay and I wish he’d gotten a face full of claws.

  57. Meg says:

they were laughing because ben seaward, who pushed derrick down the hill, fell on his face after pushing derrick.
but they were on a large hill, he couldn’t have put his sled just next to the cat? he had to put his sled right in front of the cat and say, move cat. what just seems aggressive to me, like you’re going out of your way to be aggressive when there were other options that would have allowed you to not even interact with the cat.
I think of that when i’m flying and I see people throwing baggage into the plane as if it’s a sport, clearly taking out frustration on people’s luggage.
what frustration does derrick have? Mad that he had to kiss his in laws ass so much in order to get married?

  58. sauvage says:

WHO DOES THAT? What kind of person do you have to be to intentionally hurt anyone, human or animal? And then you call yourself someone who believes in God?

  59. Heather says:

I am from the UK and I have never heard of this person but what a complete scumbag. I hope he hasn’t got kids. If he has God help them. It makes me so fracking angry when people get off being cruel to animals. Sorry but I would smack him in the mouth.

  60. Maria A. says:

Hell hath no fury liked ticked off animal lovers. These jerks deserve all the backlash that comes their way for being so cruel on a whim.

  61. LaurieH says:

I am a MASSIVE animal lover. In fact, if a story comes on the local news about some kind of animal abuse, I start pitching a hissy fit until someone changes the channel because I know the story will make me want to go out and kill that person – which, of course, fills me with massive Catholic guilt for thinking such things. That said…. WHO THE EFF DOES THIS?!?!?!?! What kind of person thinks this is a good idea? Or fun? Or funny? What makes matter worse – MUCH worse – is what kind of supposed “Christian” (I’ll just leave that there) decides it’s fun entertainment to gratuitously injure one of God’s creatures. Okay, now my blood is boiling. Reaching for my glass of Merlot. Breathe….breathe…..breathe……

  62. jenn12 says:

He enjoys hurting the helpless? Wow, he should make a great dad. You can tell this guy is just so pleased with his own fame.

  63. lisa says:

yes, that’s exactly what jesus would do, idiot

i guess people who dont believe in evolution never evolve

    #teamcat

  64. Nancy says:

I just had some fun on his twitter feed. I told him #godhatesyou. Hahaha!

  65. Pompasaurus says:

This has nothing to do with “team cat”. This is more about “team respect living things”. What an asshole; only psychopaths think hurting or trying to hurt other creatures is funny 🙁

  66. Delores Smile says:

If he advertises I won’t purrrchase his products. I loathe animal cruelty.

  67. KittyKat says:

I should probably be able to figure this out (lawyer!), but is there any way to prosecute him for this? I just feel like we, Team Cat, ought to be able to collectively give these jackoffs hell – what state are the Duggars living in?

Also, it’s really sad that when you google prosecuting someone for animal cruelty, the first responses have to do with how hard it is to do…

  68. Goodnight says:

Total asshole. I never trust anyone who thinks that harming animals is funny. This could have literally killed the cat and seriously hurt Derick. I used to think he was pretty harmless as far as fundies go, but I always thought he was pretty dim. This just confirms that he’s stupid and a jackass to boot.

I have three gorgeous cats (two rescued, one from a breeder) and if anyone ever tried to do that to one of my cats I would have to be restrained from hitting them. One of my guys is a ginger tabby so it especially hit me in the feels to see the cat in this video.

  69. Lis says:

Gotta love religious hypocrites. The value of life only extends to humans??? Wrong.
