I hope Joni is going to be okay. She is one of my faves.

    • mimif says:

Oh man, me too. Where’s Kiddo? I need her to hold me and sing me sweet Joni lullabies….

      • Jaded says:

        I’ll try mimif!!

        “Maybe I’ve never really loved
I guess that is the truth
I’ve spent my whole life in clouds at icy altitudes
        And looking down on everything
        I crashed into his arms
Amelia it was just a false alarm”

      • mimif says:

        ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

      • The Original G says:

I remember that time you told me you said
        “Love is touching souls”
        Surely you touched mine
‘Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh, you’re in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet

Oh I could drink a case of you darling
And I would still be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

      • PennyLane says:

“Like Icarus ascending on beautiful, foolish arms…
Amelia, it was just a false alarm”

    • Kiddo says:

Hopefully, she didn’t have a stroke or heart attack. It’s amazing that she is 70-something. She looks older, but the same, with no jacked up face. Good painter, poet and singer.

Hey blue, there is a song for you
Ink on a pin underneath the skin
An empty space to fill in

Well, there’s so many sinking now
      You’ve got to keep thinking
You can make it through these waves

      • mimif says:

        Acid booze and ass
        Needles guns and grass
        Lots of laughs….

She’s conscious! I luff her; she’s up there with Chomsky I my book. #pleasedonteverdie

Also, KIDZILLA I miss you! The End.

      • cynicalsmirk says:

I don’t think she looks older than 70. I think we’ve just lost touch what 70 looks like.

      • Kiddo says:

I said she looks older, meaning older than photos I saw of her capturing when she was young, not older than 70. Most people in my universe do not get plastic surgery.

      • cynicalsmirk says:

Sorry, misunderstood your comment. My apologies ๐Ÿ™‚

      • Kiddo says:

No worries. I write in gibberish, so you have to take a Rosetta Stoneยฎ course to speak the language.

  2. lucy2 says:

    Hope Joni is OK. ๐Ÿ™
“Willie Nelson gets his own marijuana strain” how did this not already happen, like, decades ago?

  3. doofus says:

    good wishes to Joni…

…and I wonder what “charlie monkey” thinks of Tom Hardy hanging out in hot tubs with Leo Di and models?

  4. LAK says:

It’s terrible to say this, but I was genuinely surprised by this news as I thought she died in the 70s.

    • QQ says:

what’s gonna sound really heinous is that I cackled at your comment.. longer than is polite to do in Polite society

      • Kiddo says:

Pfft, so Celebitchy is what is passes for ‘polite society’, these days?

      • Kitten says:

Dude. I don’t know why, but I lost my sh*t when I read LAK’s comment.
Polite society be damned because I needed to laugh today.

But yes, get well Joni, the world needs your music, etc.

      • mimif says:

To the Amanda Knox thread*, all of you!

*jk Wouldn’t wish that sh-t show on anybody.

    • Neil says:

In the Jazz community that is when she was born.

  5. ilovesunnydaze says:

She’s one very talented and respected artists from Saskatoon Saskatchewan. I’ve met people who used to party with her. Apparently always was cool. Hope she’s ok.

  6. MSat says:

    Get well, Joni!

    One of my faves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AavxMdFiZo

  7. Dani says:

    Hilary’s dress…with the hair color…makeup…the brows…no.

Also – isn’t Hardy married? Or in a very serious relationship with a woman who is definitely not the blonde in the hottub?

  8. InvaderTak says:

O/T but I’m really kinda disappointed by this April fools.

  9. Hautie says:

Tom Hanks needs to come get his son, Chet Haze. And have him take a seat.

Wendy Williams was talking about this twitter thing, aimed at Howard Stern this morning. And she summed it all up very well, in her own funny unique way.

I suspect neither Tom Hanks or the wife will be guesting on Wendy’s show… after she shared her thoughts about Ole’ Chet.

  10. cynicalsmirk says:

I wish a speedy recovery for Joni. An amazingly talented person, who had a rather difficult life. She was a huge part of the voice of her generation. And the composer of my favourite Christmas-time song, “River”.

  11. Belle Epoch says:

There’s an article about Joni in the NYT that mentions all her illnesses, including polio as a child, dengue fever at some point, and Morgellons. People jumped all over her (“I bet she doesn’t believe in vaccinations!”) and all the psychiatrists came out of the woodwork to say Morgellons is a disease of hysteria.

First of all, Joni has been very brave to speak out publicly about Morgellons Second, this is hardly the time to pick on her mental health. And third, I believe Morgellons is a Thing. I have no idea WTH it is, but when you see the pictures it is severely creepy. And when disorders affect children, I tend to doubt the hysteria angle. Thoughts?

    • Velvet, Crushed says:

Thank you for your comment. I hesitate to consider what might be said by many in the public or by some medical professionals if a less esteemed celebrity or artist were to claim to have Morgellon’s.

      • cynicalsmirk says:

I have never heard of Morgellon’s before this morning, when I read Belle Epoch’s post. Spent half the morning reading websites about it, and it is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever seen.
