Amal Clooney wears Balenciaga to visit George on set in NYC: cute?

135502PCN_GeorgeWalk34

George Clooney was filming scenes for his new movie, Money Monster, in NYC this weekend. I’m including some photos of George – in character – wearing some kind of suicide vest. Jack O’Connell is in this movie too. George’s hair is the best it’s looked in years, right? Is that a wig or is that his real hair?

But what’s important here is that George’s biker-chick wife came out to watch some of the filming. Amal stopped by the set and watched George film a scene. She wore ripped up (designer?) jeans, a cute white blouse and this Balenciaga motorcycle jacket. I usually think Balenciaga jackets are overworked (they did too much with leather quilting), but this jacket is really cute. Would I wear it? Probably not. But for Amal’s hit-and-miss relationship with casual clothing, this is fine. My biggest issue is with those absolutely terrible shoes. Amal has a terrible fashion secret: awful taste in casual footwear.

We don’t have all of the photos from Amal’s set visit, so you can see more of them here. Amal brought two dogs with her. Are these the Clooney puppies?! They look like two adorable cocker spaniels, one honey-blonde and one black. Why haven’t we seen more of these magical dogs?!

George looks thrilled to be there…

  2. Birdix says:

Her outfit says nyc, but her bag screams coachella.

    • Gea says:

Her outfit is more saying ” look at me, I can pull casual cool “, but unsuccessfully in my opinion. She is obviously enjoying attention and she is ready for everything that goes with it.

    • goofpuff says:

      her jeans fit terribly….

  3. Lucy says:

Love the outfit and the hair (hers). The shoes would be perfectly fine if they were wedge-less.

    • Mar says:

She seems lost inside those jeans She has no legs at all. Too skinny

      • V. says:

I don’t like to body shame people skinny or fat, but the jeans are not a good look on her and the shoes are awful! She should do a skinny jean which would hug her body better. See I can be nice and constructive without shaming.

      • jane16 says:

V, agree with you that the shoes are awful.

      • Timbuktu says:

I don’t think it has anything to do with body shaming, those jeans just look 2-3 sizes too big for her, not sure if it’s just a poor cut for her body type or actual size issue…

      • jane16 says:

I agree she’s too skinny. The camera adds 10 pounds. She seems to have lost a lot of weight over the past year. She reminds me of Karen Carpenter for some reason, like she thinks she’ll be “prettier” if she is super skinny.

  4. katren says:

Those dogs are so cute! More dog photos!!!!

  5. Lora says:

Urgh, those shoes… So much money so little taste

  6. Lama Bean says:

This outfit just strikes me as try-hard.

    • zinjojo says:

Yep, I was just coming to say the same thing. Casual try-hard. Plus, that’s a full on blow out if I’ve ever seen one. She’s ready for her picture to be taken and thirsty for it too.

    • ican'tsnap says:

YASSSSSS. I just can’t with her.

  7. AG-UK says:

umm wonder if her doggies have their doggy passport and chip for the UK

  8. Mollie says:

I struggle with Amal’s pants/jeans game. They never seem tailored right and look saggy baggy.
She looks so great in skirts and dresses, I wish she’d wear more flattering jeans and pants.
I think maybe the baggy look just doesn’t suit her.

    • GingerCrunch says:

Saggy Baggy is right. She probably can’t find jeans in her size. If worn correctly, a pair of jeans are like the sexiest thing you can wear, imo. Not on her, tho.

      • Francesca says:

It’s like her lower body is so small that even the smallest sizes look like hand me downs she hasn’t grown into yet.

    • Michelle says:

I agree! It isn’t only Amal’s jeans that are too big, I feel like all pants I’ve seen her in look like they’re going to fall off of her body. I think you’re right that she might not have an easy time finding her size, she is extremely thin, but there is no reason she can’t see a tailor.

  9. DogMom says:

Are we supposed to beleive these are pap photos? Or officially sanctioned by the production or GC?

  10. Cora says:

The black dog is definitely Clooney’s. His name is Einstein and he’s a Hurricane Katrina rescue. Stacey Keibler used to love doing the pap stroll with Einstein.

  11. Miss M says:

I wonder what Einstein (George’s dog) thinks about this relationship. Tell us, Einstein: Are they equals? Are they smitten? Spill the beans, you’ve been there since the Italian queen! lol

  12. Beatrice says:

George has that Kanye West “I’m miserable with this woman” look.

  13. lower-case deb says:

dooooooggssss puppppehhhss. more dogs and cats and babies please! *goes away to youtube*

  14. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I don’t like ripped jeans, probably because I wore ripped jeans hundreds of years ago in the early 70s. But I like the jacket.

    • Darya née Dara says:

Like the jacket and the top – hate the jeans, shoes and bag. LOVE the dogs.
So with you on the jeans, ripped jeans should be banned on anyone over the age of 22, or unless you are a Kardashian. In which case it’s just normal wear and tear.

    • jane16 says:

LOL! Agree with both of you. (GNAT & Darya) I wore the ripped jeans in my teens also, but as an adult, no, I would feel silly in them.

  15. Talie says:

I actually do love her style. It’s pretty great.

  16. MP says:

I can’t consider any outfit that costs around 3000$ casual no matter what it looks like.

    • Wheeze says:

Most of her outfits cost way more than that. This is a casual day. She spends around $6000 per outfit, I’m guessing. The Daily Mail does a “you can buy it too” section where they give you the prices. It’s insane, but I’ll bet George gave her an allowance and made her see a stylist. She was much more idiosyncratic (and less branded) pre-George.

  17. Darya née Dara says:

Someone come find me when George goes to watch Amal at work, him sitting in the gallery in some courtroom or university lecture hall, gazing at her adoringly while she’s being a legal genius…then I want a full report about what he’s wearing and his expensive haircut.

  18. Rita says:

I doubt we’ll see a picture of George with a pooper-scooper or Amal with a small baggy of poo but that would be a great “casual” photo…………..even with the suicide vest.

  19. chelsea says:

The look of a man in love. Oy.

  20. Michelle says:

I don’t hate or even dislike Amal, but all of her clothing is ill-fitting. I realize that she is very slim, but her clothing always looks like it is literally hanging off of her body and I think it looks terrible.

    • RJ says:

I’m with you Michelle. And even though she’s always been slim, to me she now has the skeletal frail look of someone with anorexia, especially in that top pic. Scary, considering the camera adds ten pounds. I can’t imagine what that looks like naked.

  21. Catelina says:

Those dogs are adorable, and while the ripped jeans aren’t the legwear of my dreams, I think Amal looks pretty cute in these pictures of we ignore the shoes.

  22. Anguishedcorn says:

Call me a dork, I really want them to be good together. But George looks miserable. 🙁

  23. noway says:

I like this outfit, although I am not a fan of the ripped jeans look either. I realize they are in, but I just don’t get it.

Why do we always see pictures of George, with his wife now, but before with his ladies on set? I just don’t remember seeing that many of other stars. I know the media likes him, but his movies are generally not that big. He just seems king of the PR push, and the show is getting old. I think I would believe the “love” more if he stopped shoving it down my throat. I do like the dog though, so cute, puppy play date.

    • siri says:

Clooney/ Grant Heslov are producers of this film. So they can pretty much invite anybody to visit the set. Same with Monuments Men- Stacy Keibler visited.

      • noway says:

There are a fair amount of actors that are producers of their and other films, and we still don’t see them with the constant PR picture push on set. I am not sure the producer thing has that much to do with it either. Elisabetta was on the Descendants set, and he didn’t produce that. Just think he thinks this is good publicity and I just don’t get it, especially when you do it over and over again. Just doesn’t seem that special.

      • siri says:

Well…then it might be because he’s such a creature of habit. He does the same things with all his ladies, same restaurants, rides on his bike, the dog pictures, the set…perhaps he finds comfort in this;-) That’s probably one reason why his PR is so predictable, and boring.

  24. siri says:

This black little cutie (I mean the dog) knows ALL of George’s dirty little secrets…he also knows how many hours Amal spent on this ‘effortless casual’ attire, inclusive full blow out. Amal does look a bit misplaced, and I wonder if she shook hands with Jodie Foster. “Moneymonster”- how metaphoric;-) Oh, and the guy walking next to Amal is one of her half-brothers.

    • boredblond says:

One of the Dubai yacht bros? George to asst: ‘get Sarah Cleveland on the phone..tell her to give her another little job..anything’…

      • siri says:

Yes, one of those;-) I’m not sure, though, how much George has to do with her getting that ‘job’. She clerked for Sotomayor a while ago, so maybe the latter just picked up a phone…and that dinner at the Carlysle was a “Thank-you” occasion…it’s networking. And Amal is probably very good at that. I wonder how a ‘normal’ lawyer would get a stint like that…

  25. Jayna says:

Aw, Einstein, what a cutie. Who cares about them? LOL It’s all about those dogs. I remember when George adopted Einstein. That was a cute story. I have a parti cocker mixed with unknown, so I am a softy where spaniels are concerned. Here’s the story from Esquire Magazine. It’s so cute. I think I melt seeing these dogs because we’re getting ready to adopt another American Cocker or English Spaniel or mix.

“I was looking for a dog because I hadn’t had one for a while — and I wanted one that was house-trained. I’m just terrible at house-training dogs,” he writes. “So I go online and see Einstein. They had a whole film about him. It was actually really sweet. You see him all beat up and s*it in the shelter, and they show how they cleaned him up. God, I love this dog. So I called and said, ‘I like Einstein!'”

Unfortunately for Clooney, the staff at the shelter needed to test first whether or not the dog would enjoy the company of the actor. “We’ll bring him to your house, but if he doesn’t like you, he can’t stay,” the shelter rep said. “We have to have good homes for these dogs.”
Naturally, Clooney had a plan for making the introduction something of a joyous celebration.
“Okay,” he continues. “I have this really long driveway, and I open the gate for them, and I start to panic that Einstein is not going to like me. So I run into the kitchen, where I have these turkey meatballs, and I rub them all over my shoes.”

“This woman opens the door, and who knew Einstein was such a food whore on top of everything? He throws himself at my feet.”

“She says, ‘I’ve never seen him react like that, ever!’ And she left him with me on the spot. And forever, now, he just thinks of me as the guy with meatball feet. He loves me. I can do no wrong. He follows me everywhere.”

    • Wheeze says:

Haha. That is a cute story. Say what you like about George but he’s good to animals. But he did turn that pig he had into a cannibal, apparently. He fed it ham or something.

    • Ange says:

Awww that’s sweet, I like that George rescues. We had a golden cocker spaniel for years, we got him as a rescue as well from some horrible people who burned him with cigarettes and god knows what else. We had to work with him a lot to get the viciousness out of him but even though I was only 3 years old I was never scared of him because I knew he was a sweetie underneath. He was the dumbest dog to ever walk the earth but we had him for 11 good years and I still miss him.

      • Jayna says:

Aw, that’s a cute story. Our dog is so smart, dare I say brilliant LOL, and a pure joy to have had the privilege to be the human mommy of. But my parents had a mixed Australian shephard breed (mixed with what we don’t know but they think two other breeds), about 50 pounds, and he was dumb as rocks. He had the sweetest heart in the world, though, and a little dog in a big dog’s body. He wanted to be a lap dog on my mom’s little lap.

  26. Nimbolicious says:

In every single one of these photos, he looks as if he’s saying, “Christ, woman, haven’t you had your fill of this yet?”

    Clearly, she hasn’t.

    • Jayna says:

I know. He looks like he’s thinking, Can I go back to work now and not hold up this film crew for your photo-op? LOL

    • jane16 says:

      LOL! Great comment!

    • siri says:

But it’s HIS PR, not her’s. He’s always acting as if it was iconvenient, but HE is calling the shots here, not Amal. Perhaps he does what his PR tells him to do, without really wanting it. Because I don’t think Amal just dropped by accidentially. Each minute on a set like this costs a lot of money, but HE is the producer of this film. After all the obviously arranged pap shots of them in front of/in restaurants, or her ‘working’, they needed some ‘average day’ pics, and Amal in ‘average day’ cloth. He always follows the same routine with his PR.

  27. Jayna says:

Granted, it was Hawaii, but then we have Elisabetta visiting him on set, and looks like someone who is really stopping by to see their honey, dressed down, not a huge perfect photo-op, but just caught in couple of simple photos.

  28. debutante says:

Usually, Amal carries some gorgeous bags. I mean truly awesome, droolworhy bags. This is not one of them. Fringe on bags can look trashy and juvenile.
I happen to like the loose fit jeans on her. If she wore tight super skinny jeans. I think her legs would look worse.
George looks like he’s totally over it. Usually, he looks happy on movie sets ! Wonder why he looks so annoyed ?? Hmmm…

  29. lisa2 says:

I think the tan dog belongs to that other guy. Not George and Amal.. I was looking at the video at the Dailyfail and George, Amal and the E” got in a car and that guy took the other dog with him. S

  30. Yup, she’s plucking her eyebrows.

  31. golden retriever says:

I’m with George on this one … Over it. She needs to dial down the fash slash pap walk stuff and get on with something/anything else. She’s (actually both are) coming across as shallow, elitist and throughly unlikable. I believe the Daily Fail has masterminded a relentless negative clooney campaign since he refused to accept their apology, was that last year or the year before? Anyway I bet their Disney wedding on ice and that Amal is super showy, has the crack team at the Daily Mail back slapping big time/rubbing their grubby little hands together with money and glee etc.
