Tyson Beckford says Lindsay Lohan isn’t model material

lindsaytyson
Earlier this week, Lindsay Lohan told Nylon Magazine that she is thinking about giving up acting in order to do more modeling, claiming that it’s really “fun” for her, and “doesn’t feel like work” at all. Model Tyson Beckford had a few words on that topic. He thinks that the only thing Lindsay knows how to do like a model is party.

Lindsay Lohan isn’t quite ready to walk down the catwalk, says Tyson Beckford.

In a recent Nylon magazine interview, Lohan admitted she is looking for work and would love to “sign with IMG and do ad campaigns and model more… That’s fun for me.”

Beckford, who attended a Make Me A Supermodel bash Tuesday in NYC, told Usmagazine.com, “She has the partying part down right. But I don’t think she’s got the focus. I mean, it requires a lot of focus and a lot of people think they can do it, but they really find that it’s a lot harder.”

Added the model, “Ask anyone – it’s a lot harder than it looks. I guess that’s why they call us supermodels – we make it look easy. But it’s not as easy as it looks, so I wish her all the best.”

[From Us Weekly]

Maybe he’s got a point about Lohan’s lack of focus, but still, I don’t really think being a model looks that hard. You want a truly hard job? Try being a fireman. Or a police officer, or being in the military. Somehow, strutting down the cat walk in beautiful clothes doesn’t strike me as all that difficult when compared to, say, running into a burning building, or risking your life in Iraq. Sorry, Tyson. Nice try, though.

Bwaaahahahahahahaha! Hilarious post MSat! And completely true! How in the world can these idiots compare their definition of ‘hard work’ to the real definition of hard work? I mean, I guess I get Tyson’s point, but… by comparison… it’s a joke worth mocking. 🙂

  2. Prissa says:

Linds look very bad – haggard and all worn out. What the heck is going on with her anyway?

  3. Flourpot says:

Modeling takes a lot of discipline. Unless of course your Kate Moss – never did get the fascination with her. Ew. But yeah, early photo shoots, regular upkeep on all things beauty, good disposition so you don’t alienate your photographers, etc. I’m sure to her it sounds like a faerie princess dream. I don’t see it happening.

  4. sissoucat says:

Yeah, be nice, be early, that’s real hard for Lindsay. Still, it ain’t hard work.

I would add CPS and teacher to the list of hard works.

  5. neelyo says:

The way she looks now the only thing I can see her modeling for is Activia Yogurt. She looks beat beyond her years and brittle. I wonder what it will take for her to get her act together or if she ever will. Some people never learn.

  6. nanster says:

Lindsay is not attractive enough or tall enough to be a serious model – aside from the serious lack of self-discipline.

  7. Bodhi says:

Why would she yell at the paps? They are the only ones who are still paying attention to her

  8. mojoman says:

You are a walking hanger on the catwalk for god sake! how hard can it be Tyson? hilarious yet true about the comparison Msat!

  9. ToddRH says:

Yes, she looks haggard, bad, pale, & skinny…wait a minute…perfect runway model material.

  10. Crystal says:

Good point, MSat. I completely agree with you. I have a hard time believing that modeling is really that hard. I don’t think Lindsay is ready for even this easy of a job though, unfortunately.

  11. javelin says:

Well, it sounds like he was comparing the difficulty to say, strutting in front of the mirror and pretending you’re a model. Not police work. But nice try.

  12. Tia C says:

She may not be the most disciplined person, but wow, he’s an arrogant bitch.

  13. gg says:

The only thing LL is good for these days is playing some creepy victim or psychopath in a Shyamalan movie.

  14. Nony says:

While I agree that there are jobs that are way more involved and strenuous and dangerous, real modelling is probably a world harder than Lindsay imagines. So far she’s done some celeb-ego accomodating posing work. Really being a model would require a cleaner lifestyle, more discipline, more and harder work, and a much better attitude.

  15. Granger says:

I won’t deny that SOME models must have rather gruelling schedules. I guess having to fly around a lot for different shoots and shows can be hard on a person’s body. But puh-LEASE. I would gladly withstand a little “wear and tear” from jet lag if somebody wanted to pay me $10,000 to pose in a bikini on a beach in the Cayman Islands — and I would NEVER call it hard work!!!

  16. geronimo says:

Is Tyson a supermodel? Or just, like, an ordinary model? I get what he’s saying in the context of Lindsay – the ‘hard job’ bit is probably like Granger says, more to do with the discipline of staying fit, looking good, working long hours, probably a lot of boring hanging around etc etc. But obviously not hard work in the sense that us normal people would identify with. Or that Lohan would understand.

  17. Payton says:

Tyson is incredibly yummysexy. Lindsay who??

  18. Bravo says:

Tyson is said to be the first male supermodel

  19. MARKY MARK says:

Are there actually any “Male” Supermodels–& I only hear models say that their work is hard. I’ve rarely heard “fireman or Policemen or Doctors or Teachers say that their work is hard–They just do the job they are supposed to do. The hardest thing I’ve seen models do is “attempt to keep their mouths shut

  20. Whatever says:

Tyson used the wrong word, he’s not the brightest… he should have said it takes a lot of *discipline* – not hard work. Discipline is something Lindsay does not have. She does a modeling thing a few times a year. Once it became a job and she had to actually start getting up early and working 12 hour days over and over, she would end up in rehab again.

  21. connie says:

while i agree that more jobs are loads more strenuous you have to admit that there would be difficult aspects of modeling. Anyone that puts themselves in thelimelight must enjoy some parts of living under a microscope so im not defending that, but i imagine the desginers (a la lagerfield) could be difficult to please, not to mention constantly being judged. that said, that’s my kind of “hard work”

  22. BeautifulNahla says:

For all u people who think modelling isn’t hard. If its so easy why aren’t you doing it? 10,000 dollar days and jetting off 2 london. Sounds awesome 2 me.

  23. aleach says:

uh, i dont think tyson was trying to compare modeling to being a fireman or a police officer. try again.

  24. AJ says:

she couldn’t be a model because she doesn’t have the LOOKS.

  25. Jules says:

Tyson might be right. That point and wink move he’s got looks really difficult and probably took months of hard work and practice.

  26. LondonParis says:

Ya, Tyson said that it was HARDER THAN IT LOOKS. Which it is.

Don’t bring teachers and firemen into this. If there isn’t an inherent respect for these professions, instill it, PLEASE, but Tyson Beckford shouldn’t be called names because he’s trying to avoid ever having to work with Blohan. 🙂

  27. c says:

Discipline would be EXTREMELY hard work for ol’ linds.

  28. Annie says:

I actually did some work for my friend who wanted to expand his portfolio, and I gotta say, it’s a pain in the ass. _<)

I don’t think he’s calling it difficult, I just think he’s saying that “Contrary to what you may think, it’s not a walk in the park.”

It’s irritating, time consuming and very very tiring.

I doubt he’d compare the “difficulty” to that of a police officer or something. I mean, those people, they’re amazing. They’re life savers. No comparison.

  29. rarahrarah says:

tyson and his hairy crotch should, tsk.

  30. Zoe (The Other One) says:

    Oh but he sooooooo sexy.

And that Lohan creature? It looks like it’s been used up, worn out and put away wet. She is a twat. And far too ugly, short and patchy orange coloured to model anything.

  31. Hunh! says:

I truly don’t understand why it was necessary for the author to interject their feelings as to what occupation may or may not be demanding or difficult as opposed to another.

As far as I could tell, Tyson was merely stating that “Modeling” is harder than it looks. Not once in his commentary did he even begin to compare “Modeling” to being a “Fireman” or any other equally demanding “Job”.

So your little self righteous rant concerning the “difficulties” of modeling as apposed to that of a fireman or someone in the military is “COMPLETELY ABSURD AND SELF SERVING”.

Anyone in their right effin’ mind knows and I’m damned sure this includes Tyson Beckford, that as far as being demanding and difficult is concerned THERE IS NO COMPARISON.

  32. Liz says:

I’m sure modeling isn’t nearly as easy as some people think, but I refuse to believe it’s all that rough. I suppose for the girls and guys out there who don’t have million dollar contracts, it sucks sometimes, but for someone like him? Please. Also, someone mentioned he’s the first male supermodel, but I don’t see how he could be. Marcus Schenkenberg should surely hold that title, shouldn’t he?

  33. Greg says:

I still say Lindsay could do it. Of course the getting up at 4 am for photoshoots. Standing in freezing whether or extreme heat. Waiting for just the right light. Than there is the catwalks… Tight fittings, Models playing cutthroat, people who think you have to be stupid to do the job. Not having a say when or where your picture will be used. Not to mention the long hours in a makeup chair… I think the job is not all glamor.

  34. Amy says:

Nowhere in Tyson’s quote does he say that modeling is harder than being a policeman, fireman, etc. I don’t know why people are saying he said that. He’s just saying that there’s more to modeling than lying around in a bikini in the Caymen Islands and getting jetlag. It’s comments like that is why Tyson made that statement since people think modeling is work and stress free.

  35. anon says:

He was in toni braxtn’s ‘unbreak my heart’ video, and in Zoolander. His career’s been pretty long and prolific. So yes, he is a supermodel, and he knows what he’s talking about.
