Kylie Jenner: Mom ‘cut me off financially 3 years ago, I pay for everything’

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner has a new interview with InStyle UK to promote her Nip + Fab anti-aging endorsement. Yes, Kylie is still 17 years old. In this interview, Kylie talks about how her skin is really dry, so she uses the serums for hydration. I still think Nip + Fab is silly to hire a teenager, but Kylie is making a killing on several endorsements. Over the past week alone, she’s posted product-friendly selfies for both FitTea and CocoaBrownTan. Kylie makes a lot of money in addition to whatever she brings home from KUWTK.

The InStyle journo describes Kylie as having a “bee-sting pout,” which only encourages the continued use of lip fillers. Kylie talks about her style influences (her sisters) and money stuff. She allegedly pays for all of her necessities and luxuries herself:

She gets dolled up for the show: “Sometimes I look back at myself on previous seasons of KUWTK and think, ‘Why didn’t you let your hair down then, or put on something nicer?’ I think now I’m much more aware when the cameras are around and I do doll up a lot more.”

Her style influences: “I feel like I dress like Khloe on my down days and Kim when I’m going out. If I’m just running out I’ll throw on a cute T-shirt, a pair of leggings and my Timberland boots. If I’m dressing up I love Celine and Saint Laurent, or for accessories Alaïa, Givenchy or Gianvito Rossi.”

Her financial independence: “My Mum cut me off financially three years ago so I pay for everything — my car, my gas and food as well as my clothes. There are so many outfits I bought in the past that I just think now are NOT cute — but there’s not very much I can do about it!”

She’s not into exercise: “I haven’t worked out in two and a half years. I’m living out my youth not doing any exercise and eating what I want, which is pretty bad. I’m into yellow rice — you just cook it for 15 minutes, it tastes so good.”

[From InStyleUK]

There are plenty of awful things to say about Kris Jenner’s parenting, yet I don’t see anything wrong with this money issue. Kylie still (until she turns 18) lives with Kris, so it’s not like Kris kicked Kylie onto the street at age 14.

Kris did allow Kylie to quit school around that time, which was a bad move. Is it so awful that Kylie paid for own car, gas, and clothing when she had her own income? Kylie probably could have eaten at home for free but chose to eat out instead. In which case, Kylie should have paid for that indulgence. When I got my first job, my parents made me pay for all that stuff too. Kylie didn’t get a real education, but maybe she’s learned something about managing money.

Here’s a photo of Kylie working out decor details at her new mansion.

What, cut her off financially AFTER giving her access to her trust fund? That’s not being cut off, child.

    • Tristan says:

The entire article is really disturbing. This very young woman has a completely distorted view of the world, as a result of terrible parenting by her parents. At age 14, your parents should not be pretty much allowing you to do whatever you want, providing you’re raking in the cash. You ought to be getting taught the value of discipline, respect and a decent education. It is disturbing to think of where she is going to be at in her 30’s, when she clearly hasn’t got a clue of the harsh realities of life

      • Denisemich says:

Maybe it will all work out for her. Maybe the school of thought is that she will have all her mistakes while she is young enough to bounce back.

I don’t think she got her trust fund. She was earning money from the show. That is not the same thing. She had a job, she should pay her way.

        Question???
Did she quit school and get home schooled or was that school closed and she got home schooled until last year?

      • swack says:

@Denisemich: I think Kris J took both girls out of school because it interferred with their work and so decided to home school them. Last year Kylie decided to drop out of home schooling. Don’t know if Kendall ever finished or not.

      • Tiffany :) says:

“I don’t think she got her trust fund. She was earning money from the show. ”

By law, a portion of the money a minor earns from entertainment has to be put into a trust so their parents can’t raid it.

      • Beth says:

I doubt this women in this family will have to deal with the harsh realties in life. Kim is mid-thirties and her vapidness is going strong. As vile as this family is, PMK knows how to hustle and teach her daughters how to hustle. When Kendall reaches her 30’s, she will probably be married to a rich guy and have popped a few kids. And she’ll know what to do when they get a divorced a decade later. Let’s face it, this family has set itself up for life. The only way they end have a rude awakening would be if the money dried up.

    • Michelle says:

@Anastasia – EXACTLY! It isn’t getting cut off when you get a chunk of the family income. Getting “cut off financially” means you have to actually go out and earn your own money. All that happened with this child is that her mom began making sure Kylie got her own check instead of having her mother hand her the money. I also don’t believe she bought herself that $125,000 G-wagon she drives.

      • Mare says:

There wasn’t any mention of her purchasing a $2 mil hom, which she supposedly paid herself.

    • FLORC says:

Other reports have said almost a year ago Kylie had to start paying rent and entered into a very binding contract that Kris is her manager in finances, career, projects, endorsements…
Taking a larger cut than other managers would. It’s old news.

Kris gave birth to these girls, but is no mother. All choices have a greedy motive at the root. And whatever cost to her daughters lives is of no concern to her.

  2. Shambles says:

It sounds like she wants a pat on the back for being “financially independent,” but she gets no such pat from me. Her money comes from parading her lip injections in front of a camera, and mindlessly posting Instagram posts with some product placement. You want to act like you bust your a$$ so you can be “financially independent,” get a job that requires any skill, brain power, or– ya know — work. (Gasp)

    • BengalCat2000 says:

x10000000000 If she had left school to work because her family (or if she didn’t have a family) needed to be supporter, I would have major respect. I don’t know what will happen to this poor girl. She has no guidance at all.

And wtf is wrong with thin lips?!

      • The other paige says:

        Bengalcat-
She didn’t grow up seeing any…she had no ‘role model’, if you will….

    • Tracy says:

You’d do it in a minute if someone offered you that kind of money, lol.

      • Shambles says:

Nah, Tracy, I actually wouldn’t. I don’t want that kind of life. I don’t want any part of it. The superficiality, the fame (which really doesn’t sound all that great when you think about it), being nothing but an employee to my own mother… All for a reality show. The end product of her lavish, empty life of fame is that show. The shallowness of it all is overwhelming.

I sing, and I like to think I’m pretty good at it. My mom and I had always talked about the possibility of auditioning for The Voice or something like that. As I’ve gotten older, I actually have thought about whether I would choose that kind of life if given the choice. And my answer is no. Definitely not the kind of life I want. I want to wander the world on foot, and be outside, and spread the love of yoga, and hang out with my cat — and have an actual job, that brings actual meaning to people’s lives (I’m studying to become a counselor).

      • Bob Loblaw says:

No, I would not, I do not worship the almighty dollar. It is disgusting that this child was turned into a money making machine by her mother. Money will not cultivate her mind and sooner or later that will catch up to her. Money is so empty. It attracts vultures and it doesn’t care if you live or die. She has everything she could want materially but if she is spiritually empty, her life will be an unhappy one. Life is not about money and no amount of money makes up for being used by your family instead of being loved by them.

    • Kitten says:

      Exactly.

    • Sabrine says:

She doesn’t seem to be doing too badly. Quitting school at 14 I find disturbing but if she balked, there’s not much that could have been done to force her to continue. It’s not going to happen if she refuses to stay in school. You can only do so much. Since she’s a millionaire, it’s a bit of a double edged sword. If she regrets her lack of education she can pick it up later, doubtful but not impossible.

      • Shambles says:

I just don’t know that she’ll ever be self-aware enough to regret her lack of education, ya know? She lives in a silicon bubble, and always has. Her reality is so vastly different from ours.

    • Tiffany :) says:

      Money makes money easily.
If the value of the Kardashian brand didn’t exist, Kylie wouldn’t be able to find people to pay her to rep things like hair extensions, etc. It is absurd the way she pretends to have built something of her own.

  3. bettyrose says:

Presumably Kris also set her up with a good money manager, since the girl has no education or job skills to fall back on if she blows through it all.

  4. belle de jour says:

The last photo of PimpMama at the airport made me laugh; entirely appropriate she’s carrying that magazine instead of a briefcase or computer. Just another day at work.

  5. luffy says:

living at home rent free while you are making money from your appearances on a hit reality tv show is not being cutoff.

  6. Susan1 says:

I find this disturbing. It shows that Kris sees these kids as independent money makers and a line item on her own balance sheet. This is not at all the same as having a summer job to pay for extras that you want. A 14 year old has no business feeling like they are financially in charge of their life. No wonder these girls quit school. A true parent, Kris or Caitlyn, should have set up a trust and put the money in it for them, encouraged them to finish high school and go to college and TAKEN care of the child’s needs until the child graduated from high school and was over the age of 18. This, “you are a money maker so you can pay for yourself” is just all kinds of wrong on so many levels. At that point you have just cut the 14 year old loose from your control and guidance., which is why you have a 14 year old who knows Tyga and babysits his kid now a 17 year old in a sexual relationship with the 25 year old. Caitlyn and Kris are despicable parents.

    • Luca76 says:

      Agreed.

    • Cynthia says:

      +1

    • Mrs. Wellen Melon says:

      Well said.

    • pk says:

      You are right!

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

      Preach.
She pushed this child out of the nest, at least psychologically and emotionally while screaming “werk it!” to an underaged girl, her own daughter. I don’t care how much money she had or was making, this is just sick on so many levels. She was essentially being groomed by her mother to make money young through her mother’s rejection of her basic physical and emotional needs.

    • zinjojo says:

      Perfectly stated!

    • julep12 says:

Yes, to all of this! Parenting at its worst. Very sad.

    • Virgilia Coriolanus says:

Exactly! I don’t care how much money I was making–my mom would put it all away, give me 20 bucks here and there, and tell me to keep my grades up or I won’t even get the 20! Who does that!?!?!

    • Giddy says:

I agree with you. A good parent would definitely have ensured that her child finished at least high school. But, having a child in school is work, and not the kind of work that brings in any money. You have to get that child up, get them to school, oversee school projects, attend parent teacher meetings, and so much more. Letting her girls quit school made life easier for PMK and also freed up the girls to work. Kris doesn’t care that her girls illiterate in many ways, or that she has condemned them to a shallow existence where art, literature, and classic music don’t exist.

    • Pip says:

+10000000 honestly I just feel more and more sorry for this girl every time she opens her mouth. Her parents and lifestyle have clearly warped her completely – notice how she says she used to not really care about how she looked e.g. throwing her hair up and whatever but now ‘she’s more aware of the cameras’. Add on to that the fact that apparently when she tries to voice this insecurity instead of having someone listen to her and talk to her about self esteem and real beauty they just shove her off to a surgeon and honestly I don’t think she ever had a chance. Kris and Caitlyn should be ashamed of themselves.

  7. Jayna says:

Maybe Pimpomager should have been focused on her daughter’s education. Just a thought.

And no 17-year-old needs to be out buying a $2 million home. Move into a cute, smallish condo when you’re 18 as your first home if you have the money instead of a big home and hiring people to run the home and do the yard and pool. You’re a teenager. At least live on a smaller, more care-free scale so you have something to build to, instead of out buying a $2 million home at 17 as your first place. So silly.

    • FingerBinger says:

Agreed. Kylie is just showing off imo.

    • Christin says:

I was just about to post a reply mentioning the house on the comment above yours.

Buying a full-fledged mansion at 17 is ridiculous. She obviously not only bypassed a proper education, but has little if any guidance from her parents.

They must believe in the saying it takes a village to raise a child — only in this case, it is her sisters.

    • Michelle says:

This is a family that values money and beauty above all things. It means nothing to them that none of them have educations (except Rob and Kourtney) because to them, being rich means they’re successful and that’s what they care about. I’m sure that they lie to themselves and say that Kylie doesn’t need school because she already has the fame and the fortune, so in their eyes she just took a shortcut. We can’t compare our reality to theirs because it isn’t the same. We don’t share their values (or lack thereof).

As far as buying the house, although I don’t understand how she legally made that happen, I watch the show and Kris Jenner mentioned something about Kylie potentially getting involved in real estate and flipping houses. In other words Kylie hasn’t exactly been marketable so Pimp Mama Kris is finding new means of income for her.

    • jwoolman says:

All of them seem to have bought homes much bigger than they need which cost a lot in taxes and upkeep. Which means once the E! cash flow stops, they’ll have to sell and move. None of them seem to look ahead further than their next paycheck. It’s all about appearances. They really don’t have special skills, and what they’re doing now for $$$$ won’t really be do-able throughout their lives.

  8. Mia V. says:

She’s talking about money and drop something about clothes. How deep.

  9. 237 says:

Who paid for that obligatory mansion?

  10. Narek says:

At 17 I wish she was as fluent in dropping literaturary influences or authors names as she is with clothing labels.

  11. LDUB says:

    her house doe….. *sigh*
infuriating on a myriad of different levels.

  12. Me too says:

What is she doing to her face?

  13. Nicolette says:

Kylie’s face in the top photo says “Get the f**k off of me”.

    • Ankhel says:

Right? Kris is no mother, she’s this greedy, manipulative colonel Parker-type, who has this delusion that she’s “one of the girls”. I should think her daughters are secretly feeling both embarassed and resentful around her.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Her face (Kylie’s) looks so worked in that photo. I agree she looks over Kris hanging on her like a boa constrictor.

  14. Loopy says:

I doubt she was cut off in the traditional sense, and I hate to think that Kris is so greedy she cut her off just so she could spend her on money.

    • Michelle says:

She wasn’t cut off at all, lol. The family is all signed up for a reality TV show and all this means is that her mother got her her own contract so that she would get paid by the E! network and not just handed money by her mom. She has not had to go out and work. This is a dumb 17 year old girl trying to sound like her life has had some sort of struggle in it when we know damn well there has not been an iota of struggle involved at all.

Kylie is so Damn sad to me because all 17 year old girls want to be treated like grown women and believe they’re mature adults but unfortunately in her case, her wish is being granted and she looks and sounds like a fool in a multitude of ways. Kylie is desperate to look and act grown and this bullshit interview about how she was “cut off” is an attempt to sound like an independent grown up. Kylie is going to turn out to be the most desperate and thirsty of them all, and I find it really troubling and sad that at 17 she hates herself so much that she got an entirely new face and is now obviously messing with her body as well. There are pictures from just a few months ago that show her with a completely flat butt and suddenly she’s developed a but out of nowhere. It’s pretty pitiful.

  15. Murphy says:

She’s talking about all her going out to eat/spending/car money and you know what–I paid for all that stuff when I was her age too.

    • word says:

I started working at 13 babysitting and stuff like that. I payed for my own clothes at that age…but I wouldn’t go around saying my parents “cut me off”. I was still living in their home and had zero bills to pay. Kylie is out of touch with reality, just like the rest of her family.

    • swack says:

I wanted contacts at 16 (they were just coming out and were very expensive) . I had to earn the money for them. Didn’t get my first cat until I graduated college and then paid for it myself. Friends who got cars as teenagers paid for theirs.

  16. BooBooLaRue says:

What’s the difference between this one and Courtney Stodden? Frankly, I have more compassion for Courtney sad waif that she is.

    • Moneypenny says:

The difference is that Kylie’s older sister did p0rn so she doesn’t have to.

  17. Who ARE these people? says:

InStyle, if you want to know what ‘bee-stung’ lips are, look at pictures of Clara Bow.
Kardashian lips are more like vacuum-sucked.

  18. Al says:

Maybe she but her off financially when Kylie made the decision to quit school. That seems quite reasonable actually.

    • Jayna says:

You don’t think Momager wasn’t behind that? She didn’t tell them to stop taking jobs or forbid them to. The opposite. She set the jobs up for them. They were kids and couldn’t go get these jobs on their own and leave town without her setting it up. She said they needed to study more but she was behind the home online school. Who is she fooling with that fake story line, the girls bringing it up and TALKING her into it? LOL Bruce was the one upset about them quitting, not Momager.

  19. claire says:

There’s so many disgusting things in this interview. Kris and Caitlyn are sh*t parents. Nothing more to be said there. It is funny though hearing her say she hasn’t exercised in 2 years, when her cover for that new enlarged butt has been that she got it due to exercise. LOL. Hard to keep track of lies, I guess.

  20. I Choose Me says:

*Struuuupes.* Why? Why do I continue to click on articles about this vacuous little twit who has no clue about the real world? I need to love myself more and stay away from all thing Kardashian/Jenner.

  21. Dawn says:

So that is why she quit school…she couldn’t afford it since her parents cut her off at the age of 14. Some how I don’t believe this. I know Kris is the sum of all evil but I can’t believe that she made Kylie pay rent or buy her own food. But who knows with this crazy wacked out excuse of a family. Each one is sicker than the other.

    • Jayna says:

More like buy her own food when she’s out partying and eating out with friends, not stock the fridge at home for their private chef momager has.

  22. Viv says:

I’m so ashamed that I remember this, but wasn’t her car (Merc SUV) a 16th birthday present?

She lives at home, so doesn’t pay for food or rent, and sadly most of her trashy clothes are probably freebies. The world is horribly unfair.

  23. ToodySezHey says:

Seriously, does this girl ever talk about anything other than her looks, clothes and make up???

When I was 17, I was obsessed with music (especially trip hop which had just broken in the States), Opera, going to art house movies. (I saw Tombstone and The Piano my last year of HS, I saw Exotica and Pulp Fiction freshman year of college ).
Does this girl have any awareness of the world outside of her vapid, shallow self serving LA/Hollywood bubble? ??

  24. Suzy from Ontario says:

Personally I think that Kris should have been putting that money into a trust fund with access at tiered ages…like so much at 18, so much at 21, and the bulk at like 30 or something when her daughter would presumeably be more mature. I think cutting off financial assistance at 14 and basically letting Kylie drop out of school and live as an adult with her own money was not a wise move, even if Kylie could afford it. Just because there’s lots of money doesn’t mean you can be done with parenting! Neither parent seems to be watching Kylie and parenting her the way they should. In my opinion, she’s still a child who dresses and acts way too old for her age and I doubt she’s very emotionally mature…money doesn’t bring you brains and maturity. Kylie (and Kendall both, imo) should be looking at schools and getting a good education and travelling the world to see interesting places instead of spending so much time and energy on makeup and their outward appearance. They are young and pretty…they don’t need to spend hours putting all that on their faces. I just think that Kris and her sisters encouraged her to grow up too fast instead of all the positive things they should have been encouraging. I think it’s sad. Money doesn’t buy happiness and I don’t think Kylie’s story will end well. I think she gets no real parental attention and she’s looking for something to make her feel of value and how she’s doing it and the places she’s looking for it aren’t the best. It has to come from inside, something her mother certainly has not taught her!

  25. Amy says:

    So let’s see…

She met Tyga when she was 12 through her older siblings.

She was cut-off when she was 14 and expected to earn income to support herself.

She quit school, dresses like a street walker, poses on Instagram and is now on the verge of being a baby momma to the same guy she knew at 12…who also has an ex-wife and child all at the ripe old age of 17.

Smh, this poor child was right. She should be scared for the future because hers is going to end badly one way or another.

    • word says:

I don’t think Blac Chyna and Tiga were ever married.

      • Amy says:

You’re right, I guess I’m so used to saying ex-wife but in this case they only dated. So ex-girlfriend with whom he still has a child.

        Plus he’s broke…smh.

  26. word says:

So her mom cut her off when she was 14? Yeah ok that’s illegal. Plus she lived in her mom’s house. Her parents bought her a car. She didn’t have any bills to pay. What on earth is she talking about ?

    • Janie says:

I think her being on her own is right in step with Will Smiths kids. They’ve been on their own for several years, same thing. They go anywhere they choose and do anything they want and have for a long time. Kanye made a point that Tyga “got in there young” with Kylie? Wonder if she was 12? It’s disgusting that he would make a remark about this young girl that he’s related to. I wonder if he’ll feel that way about North? This bunch is despicable, all of them.

  27. Penelope says:

Her parents did a lousy job. Yeesh.

  28. anne_000 says:

Since she bought the mansion, she’s not living at home, right? I thought she had moved out already.

    • word says:

She’s not moving out until she’s 18, which is at the end of this summer. Her mom was the one who signed the papers for her new house ! Kylie is full of it.

  29. jenn12 says:

I sincerely don’t get why Bruce/Caitlyn gets a pass on the parenting. It’s great to support transgender, but not to the point of excusing all bad behavior. Kris sucks, but so does B/C. She has two parents, and they BOTH need to be responsible.

    • Maria says:

Bruce/Caitlyn is more concerned about him/herself and what she looks like!

    • jenn12 says:

This site is always like, “Kris sucks”- which she does- but so does her ex. They are both the parents of those girls and they both are responsible for them. I also don’t get why Bruce/Caitlyn gets a pass on abandoning the first 4 kids he fathered. You brought them into the world and you are responsible for them, whatever your issues might be. Is B/C also getting a pass on the driving incident?

  30. Netu says:

Hmmmm. I thought her parents bought her a 70k sub for her 16th birthday. Professional liar.

  31. Jag says:

I agree that I had to pay for my car as a teenager, so got my first job at 15 in order to do so. I wanted to have a car for when I got my license at age 16.

I didn’t even recognize Kylie in the picture of them in the red outfits. She was so pretty back then!

Also agree that it’s ridiculous that a skincare company for anti-aging products has a 17 year old schilling them. I know she looks 40, but no one is going to believe that the products are what make her skin look youthful. Ugh!

  32. Jen43 says:

IKylie is living everyteen’s dream of having no limits or parental supervision. It seems like because she can support herself, her parents have washed their hands of their responsibility. Unfortunately she is too young to see the damage.

  33. G says:

I can’t with yet another vapid twit from this Klan. She is so self absorbed and completely dense.

  34. Kara says:

Hey, the photo of Kylie in the fancy room isn’t her mansion. On her snapchat, it shows that she spent a weekend in Vegas with her other friend Pia Mia. That’s right, a 17-year-old girl in a penthouse suite in VEGAS.

  35. iheartgossip says:

Not one word of truth has ever fallen out of a Kar / Jen offspring. Not One Word. And is all of this the ‘set up’ for her ‘sex video’ due for release in September / October??

  36. Rose says:

Kris is an excellent money manager and its been widely reported that her kids are good with managing their money, despite their extravagances. Kris may be a lot of things, but no one has ever called her stupid. I don’t think this is a case of her being a bad mother at all. I think she is setting her daughter up to be responsible for her spending and saving. I certainly wish my parents had helped me out a lot more in that department!

  37. EN says:

I don’t agree with American approach of pushing kids to make money early , which they takes away time from learning life skills and education.
What is the value of working for $5 per hour at Mikey D or Macys? It is not going to pay for college anyway, and it doesn’t really teaches the value of money, if it is pocket money and the parents are still going to shell out 100K per college.

I belong to the European school of thought, early teens are for education and personality formation, not wasting time on useless activities and working retail is useless.
If you want kids to work then get them to apprentice somewhere.

Kardashians are just a more extreme case of that approach – as long as kids are making money, their education or future don’t matter.

    • jwoolman says:

In my town, the high school teachers complain that the kids are so busy with their after-school jobs (usually at fast food joints) that they don’t have time for schoolwork. The jobs in most cases are paying for extras such as cars, so they can get to work…. so they can pay for the cars. It really is pointless. We have something like a 50% high school dropout rate, which is typical of many places in the U.S.

Coincidentally, the U.S. for many years has relied on foreign-educated people to make up for the acute shortage of highly skilled scientists and engineers– so much so that when Homeland Security started making it difficult for the foreign-born, it put a real dent in the work of national laboratories and graduate schools (where a lot of research is done, utilizing grad students and post-docs). In areas such as chemistry and physics, there can easily be a clear majority of non-US grad students; in my experience, in a joint program, the foreigners had a far better basic education than the vast majority of US-educated students; they were especially way ahead of us in mathematics.

Kris cut her off but Kylie got a cut-in of KUWTK, just like everyone else “starring” in the show.
