Candy Spelling has never met her granddaughter

Candy Spelling is playing the victim card relentlessly. The widow of super-producer Aaron Spelling is selling her 56,000 square foot mansion, promoting her memoir Stories From Candyland, and talking about how her daughter doesn’t want her poor old mother in her life any more.

Candy claims that Tori and her husband Dean never visit her and never let her see her grandchildren. Candy says she would have kept her mansion, for her grandkids, “If I had any hope that I would have a relationship with my grandchildren I would never sell this house. I’ve fantasized for years about a wonderful playhouse on the grounds for children.” Candy also claims she’s never even met her granddaughter Stella. People has more:

Candy Spelling is starting a new chapter in her life, which includes writing a frank memoir called Stories From Candyland – and selling the $150 million, 56,000-square-foot mansion where she’s lived since 1991.

Spelling, whose book is due out March 31, plans to move from her five-acre French Chateau-style mansion into a $47 million condo with 17,000 square feet; the same footage as her current attic. But she tells PEOPLE that she’d never have put Spelling Manor on the market if she thought she’d reconcile with her estranged daughter Tori, her husband Dean, and their two children, Liam and Stella.

“I don’t see Tori and Dean anymore,” the 63-year-old grandmother tells PEOPLE. “I used to see Liam, but no longer. And I’ve never met Stella.”

Spelling, who was married to producer Aaron Spelling for 37 years before his death in 2007, says she’s not sure why Tori is angry with her. “I’ve tried to talk to her, but that doesn’t work. She may not even know why she’s angry.” When called by PEOPLE, a rep for Tori Spelling had no comment.

Despite the family’s fracturing, Spelling says: “If I had any hope that I would have a relationship with my grandchildren I would never sell this house. I’ve fantasized for years about a wonderful playhouse on the grounds for children.”

Although she spent four years planning the home before she moved in, she’s selling it now because, “It’s just me in this big house,” explains Spelling.

Still, she hasn’t lost hope entirely. She made sure there is a playroom in her new condo in case the grandkids ever do visit.

“Someday my grandchildren will know who I am because of the trust funds I’ve set up, but I would like to be part of their lives now,” says Spelling. “I would have loved to have built that playhouse for them.”

From People Magazine

I don’t really know what to think of all this – I’m not a fan of Tori Spelling, but I don’t really think she’s a horrible, malicious person. Candy has said and done some pretty harsh things to her daughter throughout the years, and Tori might have just had enough. There were rumors after Aaron Spelling’s death that Candy was using Aaron’s estate in an attempt to control her daughter. There was also a rumor that Candy doesn’t really care for Dean. All of this seems like a half-decent explanation for why Tori has cut her mother out of her life.

Well maybe if she passed a little of her wads of cash along to her daughter who got next to nothing when Aaron Spelling died, things would be a little different. Greedy? No I don’t think so…many among us would be PO’d at our remaining parent having so much and not sharing with flesh and blood..not saying that Tori is though as who knows.

  2. HEB says:

Couldn’t her son have kids? Did I miss something? They wouldn’t be good enough for a playhouse?

  3. sandy says:

what is that big white lump near tori’s necklace?

  4. Nina says:

Anna Nicole who was abused by her mother Virgie Arthur and stepfather also didn’t want to let her mother visit her daughter Dannielynn.

  5. CB Rawks says:

Yeah, and was there ever a playhouse for Candy’s actual kids? Is she suddenly going to become warm and sweet just as grandchildren arrive? 😉

Oh trust, when your mother treats you like garbage it’s not that hard to turn away. Society wants you to stay in their life, but society didn’t suffer emotional abuse from the ice-cold crazy lady for 40 years.
Not that I’m drawing from personal experience or anything.

  6. HEB says:

    Umm CB Rawks–are you Tori?

  7. Come Sta... says:

    HEB…lmao!

  8. Nat says:

    LOL @ CB Rawks…
I feel ya girlfriend! I don’t find Tori Spelling attractive or talented, but I am sure she has a good reason for alienating herself from her biological mother, Candy. Sometimes it’s just better for your emotional and physical health if you stay away from toxic people even if you ARE related to them.

  9. Jen says:

That woman has very cold eyes.

We can speculate all we want about Tori’s relationship with her mother, but the truth is, we really don’t know.

  10. cebitchyfan says:

Didn’t Tori have an affair with Dean when they were both married to other people? Didn’t Dean dump his wife after they just had a baby so he could sleep with Tori? Didn’t Tori divorce her husband and then get pregnant with Dean’s baby? Wasn’t it Aaron that was so hurt and upset about this first and HE (not Candy) was the one who cut her off financially? Then Candy only did the same because he specified in his will that Tori could not have any of his money and property?

Then she was mean about how Dean’s ex-wife was infertile and that’s why Dean didn’t think of her as a real woman any more? That Tori was a real woman and could give him real children instead of adopting and that is why she was a better wife than her?

  11. CB Rawks says:

    Thanks Nat. 🙂

heh No HEB, but Tori would probably be thrilled that you think she could be 40. 🙂

  12. HEB says:

Now I’m thinking CelebitchyFan is Candy…

CB Rawks-hey I was only 5 years off!

  13. cebitchyfan says:

    No silly! I’m not Candy!

But I just remembered a whole bunch of stories about what happened and I think that it was like I wrote down above and not the way some people seem to be saying it.

Maybe they just didn’t see the same news stories or forgot about what really happened and only know Tori from her reality shows.

I remember when Tori got in trouble with her dad Aaron because of the things she went out and did with that Brenda Walsh actress from 90210 (Shannen Doherty).

Does anyone remember that? He cut her off then to some degree too and told her she might lose her job on the show.

Sort of like how Britney Spears’ dad is taking over her finances and getting restraining orders against her old boyfriends? You know about that too right?

I haven’t followed Britney as closely but I was a fan of 90210 so followed all of the news about that show a lot closer so that is why I remember it better.

I thought it was sad that Aaron passed away like that. He had a lot of great shows and I remember many of the actors and actresses really liked him a lot. Luke Perry and Jason Priestley and Jennie Garth (from dancing with the stars). They said he was like a second father to them and that they really loved him a lot and were very sad when he passed away.

Anyway, I don’t hate Tori really but I was just trying to tell it how I remembered it from all the news stories I read when I was in school.

    I hope I got it right…

  14. Hieronymus Grexx says:

I’d be afraid she’d try to eat the child or use them for some satanic life-extension pact or something.

  15. Dee says:

I really tori – she seems like a very sweet yet immature woman .. tho she does appear to be a very good and very affectionate parent .. Thousands if not more people leave their spouses every dsy to get with someone else so I don’t think this is s fsult exclusive to her or Dean .. they are well suited to each other .. Csndy is airing dirty laundry and that is tacky to me – just help your children out when needed and be nice – they will want to be around you .. nice is good. I would like to see Tori gsin a little weight, I hope she isn’t ill.

  16. cebitchyfan says:

Cheating while you are married and then divorcing and bad mouthing the cheating guys wife is never a good thing!

That’s why Aaron Spelling cut her out of his will. He said she had a fairy-tell wedding at his home to her first husband and he paid millions for that and then she goes and cheats on him and gets pregnant with the cheater!

No wonder he was angry! How can anybody say that is an OK thing to do???

  17. Judy says:

Maybe if Miss Candy had not made sure her daughter got screwed in her fathers will this would not have happened. The woman is so greedy she made sure that Torri didnt get any money from her Dad while SHE lives in a mansion and has nothing but money.
Her Dad was no competent when Candy made him change that will. SHE also ran her mouth about Tori and her husband. I dont blame Tori for not letting her around her kids. If the greedy Btch will trash her only daughter to the media she will trash Tori to her kids too.

  18. ChristinaT says:

this woman is some piece of work. what a witch…

and how did tori inherit her mother’s bad nose job? the awfulness of it must have imprinted itself in their DNA…

this is just further proof that money doesn’t buy you… well… anything worthwhile… like class, compassion, heart, sympathy, etc…

  19. cebitchyfan says:

So you say Candy was the one who changed the will all of the times?

Aaron changed it like 2 or 3 times to remove her from it before he died, and you say all of those were done when he was not of sound mind? The judges and the lawyers and the witnesses all knew he was not of sound mind but made the changes anyway just because Candy wanted them to?

And why should Tori get ANYTHING? Aaron earned all of that money and Candy was right along with him for 40 years helping him earn all of that, supporting him and having kids and raising them all together.

Do you think Aaron was not of sound mind all of those 40 years too?

He warned Tori about her drinking and drugging and sleeping around when she was on 90210. That had nothing to do with Candy at all! He cut her back to like $10,000 a month in money so she could pay bills and rent and things but would not give her more until she stopped all the partying.

How can that be Candy’s fault?

Candy may be a bitch but she earned all that with Aaron for 40 years time! Tori hasn’t gone out there and earned her own living like that – has she?

Tori needs to suck it up and earn her own way. Aaron earned his own way, why can’t she?

  20. Ron says:

You are not required to like your parents. I had no relationship with my father after I turned 18.He would rear his ugly head every now and then if he wanted something which was always lovely. He died 5 years ago and left everything in his estate to someone my sister and I had never met and excluded us in the first line of his will in much the same fashion Joan Crawford did. My response to all of that was it was worth it. I would have paid a million dollars to never see him again and so any inheritance I might have had made that payment and I was glad to let it go. We will never know the intricasies of this relationship, but it’s obviously difficult as best. I wish you luck Tori.

  21. j. ferber says:

Sorry, but Tori seems like a conniving woman to me and not genuine at all. She did taunt Dean’s ex-wife by saying he wanted a wife young enough to have children.

  22. tattooed redhead says:

Being a Canadian, it was pretty much impossible to ignore the situation because is was all over the news. Tori & Dean did have an affair while he was married – while he & his ex were in the process of adopting. They get the baby and he takes off. What a gentleman. And they post on each others’ imdb sites all the time – all PR, cutsie stuff because everyone else is bashing them!

  23. tattooed redhead says:

Oh yeah – nobody even knew who he was at the time, everyone only knew his wife because she was on a really popular cooking show. So not much has changed – nobody really knows who he is, they only know his wife!

  24. cebitchyfan says:

Did he really leave her just because she could not give birth to a natural born child anymore? Isn’t that horrible if he did? OMG! Why would he stop thinking of his wife as sexy and loving just because her body can no longer produce biological children of her own? That is awful of him, isn’t it?

Why would anyone want to defend Tori at all? Isn’t she the homewrecker? Wasn’t she just horribly mean making the statements about being able to actually give birth means she is a real, desireable woman and his wife no longer was?

    OMG!?!?!?!

  25. Miss Wanderlust says:

I don’t know what happened in this family but nowadays children seem too emotional blackmail grandparents with their grandchildren sometimes because of their manipulative ways or there narcissistic spouse…….happened to my family big time and there is nothing we can’t do about it, because grandparents + aunts/uncles do not have any rights !!!
Nobody thinks about the grandchildren…they need to get the love and attention frome other familymembers but they can’t speak for themselves !!!
I they can’t work it out Candy has the money to spend it on a good family therapist ?

  26. Ms. JK says:

I think Candy seems like a huge beast, personally. I feel sorry for Tori, having had a mother with similar MO, I think that Tori will be a happier person in the long run without her mother in her life. If the stories are true, Candy doesn’t deserve to have her grandchildren in her life. BTW, isn’t she beginning to show her age? What is she like 120?

  27. kitti says:

How much $$ did the son get? Did he feel shorted too?

  28. j. ferber says:

When I look into Dean’s close-set eyes, all I see is vanity and stupidity. I also get the feeling Tori micro-manages their lives.

  29. CB Rawks says:

“CB Rawks-hey I was only 5 years off!”

    Tori’s 35?! Heheh! I had no idea!
Mind you, I have tried to block her from my memories since 90210.. and that was a looong time ago. 🙂

  30. Valensi says:

    Ditty, Sandy.
What IS that big white lump near Tori’s throat? Yikes.
Meh. I care for neither of these women.

  31. Valensi says:

    Jesus. Edit button, thanks?
    Ditto*

  32. Julie says:

Tori and her brother got the same small amount from their father’s estate. I bet Candy gives her kids money as a way of controlling them instead of just giving them a big chunk of their future inheritance now. Candy was also going around town with a male companion during Aaron’s final year.

  33. lilybme says:

“money can’t buy happiness….i don’t care too much for money, money can’t buy me love”….these sorry folks are the living proof for this very truthful verse.

  34. cebitchyfan says:

I think the son was on much better terms with both Aaron and Candy.

That said, if I remember the E channel report, his will specifically laid out a time table for each that would provide additional monies in the years ahead provided they did not have further problems with Drugs, Alcohol and/or other Legal Issues.

Basically, rewards for good behavior. There was a clause for each regarding College level education, obtaining a degree, getting a Masters degree, even a PHD. Taking and doing well in acting classes, directing classes, producing classes (film school) and the like.

I’m not sure if those were in place before the modified will and were also or incorporated into the final will, or part of some sort of trust, but both can be provided for.

I don’t know if the fact that she divorced had any impact on the terms.

Then again, it was the E channel folks that laid all of that out, and they may have gotten it wrong.

Candy was with Aaron for 40 plus years and she was dear to him and he to her. So I think from that aspect, you have can separate both of them out as a couple. They were happy, never cheated on each other, tried to raise a good family and do some very good things in the world – careers then to charities – and together they accomplished a tremendous amount.

Then you can look at their Parenting years and perhaps rate them in a completely different manner. She may have been a horrible mother, or at least one that did not suffer fools lightly, hence the disappointment with Tori. I think her brother had some run-ins but only after he got into acting. I think he is out of acting for now and doing much better.

Perhaps the life style of these young actors and actresses are simply so far over the top that it might be hard for many young people to come out unscathed. They may just be so overwhelmed by the “LifeStyle” that they have a hard time keeping grounded to a normal reality.

Regardless, Tori is a homewrecker – you cannot deny it. She also seems like a spoiled little brat to me as well. Candy seemed a very good wife and partner but perhaps is not a good mother at all. I don’t know enough to make that kind of determination.

Either way, I’m glad that brat isn’t my kid or my sister. She’s just YECH!

I don’t know about the brother.

Why can’t Tori be all nice like Jennie Garth? She really seems to have turned out great, don’t you think?

  35. Hel says:

It is perfectly normal for married couples to leave everything to the other. Why should children expect an inheritance? Everyone should work to ensure their own financial well being and not depend on their parents dying to help them out!

  36. Cinderella says:

I’m sure Candy is no angel, but I believe she is controlling the money for a reason. Tori has been known in the past to spend herself into a hole.

Can you imagine her beady-eyed husband getting his hands on several million?
A new motorcycle for every day of the month!

I don’t think Candy will ever let her grandchildren go without, so I give her points for that.

I also think something is going on with Tori. She looks like she’s wasting away. That long dress hides it but other recent photos of her are scary.

  37. thelmacynthia says:

Not for nothing Tori and Randy do not
act like they come from money. They
seem to be well adjusted happy people.
Candy and Aaron Spelling did a great
job with there kids. They showed up
for work you never heard they were on
drugs or alcholics. Stella looks like
Candy Spelling just look at her face and Liam looks like Aaron. For Gods
sake Tori and Candy make up and stop
    this foolishness.

  38. thelmacynthia says:

Please make up before its to late.
    Tori take those beautiful children
    to see your Mother…..

  39. thelmacynthia says:

I think you should swallow your pride
and go and get those kids before its
    to late….
