Ariana Grande won’t face charges over donut-licking, America-hating incident

At the end of the day, what lesson did Ariana Grande learn about licking and/or spitting on donuts? Nothing. She learned no lessons, except maybe that she can get away with really terrible things if she blames everything on hating fat people, then offers a Bieber-esque second apology blaming everything on her youth. Yes, as it turns out, Ariana will not have to face any legal consequences after licking or spitting on donuts at Wolfee Donuts in California. The donut shop has declined to press charges, mostly because they faced a health department investigation into why they left out donuts.

Ariana Grande’s doughnut-licking incident won’t be a “Problem” anymore. Last week, surveillance footage leaked of the singer licking unattended doughnuts and shouting “I hate America” at Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore, California.

But, the bakery’s owners “declined to press criminal charges against Ms. Grande,” Michael Vasquez, deputy sheriff at Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, tells PEOPLE.

The “Break Free” singer apologized twice, and California police and public health officials launched an investigation into the shop because of the incident, causing Wolfee Donuts to receive a B rating from the health inspector. Per California law, restaurants are required to keep food products protected from the public.

Joe Marin, owner of the shop, tells PEOPLE: “We got a B because the donuts were on top of the tray, and we were actually stocking up. My employees kept going in the back and grabbing some more … They were minor things: little, tiny, minor things that were fixed in three days.”

Marin adds that the health inspector will be returning on July 15 for a followup inspection: “We already fixed all the problems.”

[From People]

While I’m glad that Wolfee Donuts is taking care of their problems, it still pisses me off that they faced bigger consequences than donut-spitter Ariana Grande. Now she’s free to spit, hiss and melodrama her way out of everything. Until her next public shaming, which should be soon enough. After all, she has the same management as Justin Bieber – how long did it take Bieber to clean up his act? Right?

So she is clear… and the store owner loses it rating and drops down a notch.. I notice in her apology she didn’t mention the store owner or the workers. She should have sent them a check and a personal apology. Go and work a day at the store and greet the shoppers or purchase all their products for ONE day and they can resell or give them away. Do something.

    Bratt

    • Jen43 says:

I would love for her to have to work there for a day and compensate the owners in some way. Too f’ing bad she wasn’t charged with anything.

    • Chichi says:

Guys, the reason she isnt being charged is because the Bakery refused to file a complaint. This guy was spitting mad (yes, a pun!) a few days and suddenly he isnt pursuing this? Isnt it obvious that a pay off deal was negotiated? After managing Bieber, Scooter Braun is the king of the payoff. I would rather have seen her in court but at least you can rest assured that this incident has bitten into her wallet.

      • Kiddo says:

        Huh, ^smart^.

      • lucy2 says:

I wondered that myself, if they said pay up or we’ll press charges. I’d rather they have pressed charges, though we all know nothing would have come of it.

Hopefully this damaged her reputation enough to make her grow up and behave better, but I doubt it.

    • Kiki says:

I would still go to th donut store and buy their donuts. It not their fault, she has not right to do a disgusting thing like that, it may be nasty but I am not going to let someone stop me for buying a donut because a polo and her atrocious manner, the only way I will stop buying donuts fro that donut store is if the store has disgusting habits, but I think the donut stor should sue Ariana Grande for her nasty mess . And I agree, she and Justin Beiber
and their idiot Manager s are just rich spoiled brat that will not
own up to their responsibilities and should be sued.

  2. TarheelPixie says:

Too bad no charges will be filed. Once again, no consequences for the celebs. Oh, well….maybe the public backlash will end her 15 minutes early.

    • We Are All Made of Stars says:

How is she actually doing? I haven’t lived in the states in awhile so it’s a little bit difficult to do the water cooler litmus test. Somebody on here mentioned that she was touring large venues and doing well.

  3. Ronda says:

    Maybe been paid off?

Its not good but her career will be damaged by this. Even more but her remarks about america.

personally i got a bit enjoyment out of it and i learned that if i ever yell “i hate america” i should not base my apology on the premise that americans are fat.

  4. minx says:

    Brat.

  5. aims says:

She’s a total twit. She has a very long history of bad behavior. It would had been nice for her to get a little embarrassment for her snooty behavior. She’s a pain in the ass and her music sucks.

  6. Amy Tennant says:

    So gross

  7. Kopi says:

Okay, she spit on two donuts for Christ Sakes. Apologize for being a drunk brat, pay them back for the damaged goods, and call if a f*cking day. It’s not like she stole a diamond set from Tiffany’s.

I don’t even know who she is but if we sent everyone to jail over being disrespectful in a place of business, pretty much no one would make it out of college within being put behind bars at least once.

    • Allie says:

Two donuts that were eventually sold to innocent people. Would you like to eat her spit? In the grand scheme of things, no, she did not commit a major crime. But what she did was illegal, immature and offensive.

    • MsMercury says:

I truly hope you are joking with the last sentence Kopi, people like you are the reason I don’t like to eat out. You do know that tampering with and contaminating food is against the law right?

      • PinaColada says:

+1 Ms Mercury! I am way too grossed out today out. I make my own everything possible. Yes I know gross things happen at food factories and I try not to think about it or id never eat at all!!! Every time I try to eat out, I picture sweat dripping into my food or bare hands or whatever and I can’t.

    • Kiddo says:

Disrespect is different than assault. But if we are comparing crimes on a sliding scale, are they only important when they impact wealthy establishments?

    • Jen43 says:

Someone stealing diamonds wants money. I think we can all understand that. But why spit in someone’s food? That’s malicious and evil.

      • Shambles says:

Yup. The malice that was so clearly motivating her actions is what makes this so disgusting.

    • Ronda says:

really? i would find stealing diamonds less bad because it does not possibly endanger peoples health.
Greed is bad but stealing because you want something shiny is better in my book than spitting on things because you get off on the idea of someone eating it.

    • Cindy says:

I think people are angry (myself included) because this girl (woman? I don’t know how old she is), has wealth and success and returns her good fortune by treating others with contempt. This isn’t the first crappy thing she’s done. She can’t even be decent to the people who buy her concert tickets.

    • JenniferJustice says:

Stealing diamonds doesn’t harm the public’s health and any jewelry stolen from a jewelry store would be covered by the store’s insurance policy. Someone spitting on food I could possibly purchase and eat without knowing it had been spit on is an entirely different scenario – it is vulgar, there are health implications, and intentional malice. She definitely should have had charges brought up against her regardless of the store owners wanting to file charges or not. She broke a law and it was on video. I don’t understand why the cops even need the store’s filing of charges. If somebody intentially defiled something I was selling in my store and it was on video, how does my waiving filing charges cancel out the crime?

    • Otaku Fairy says:

I would actually find her stealing a diamond to be less offensive than her licking food…..that was sold to other customers. Both would be examples of entitled and illegal behavior from a rich pop star, but at least the diamond- stealing wouldn’t be unsanitary and a health risk to others. That’s what bugs me about what she did- not anything that she said, but the fact that she allowed food with her saliva on it to be sold to other people without having the thought to be like “Hey, maybe I should buy these donuts so nobody has to eat food I contaminated.”

  8. Shambles says:

    This is what I propose.

We lure Grande, Bieber, and Jenner (sounds like a law firm made up of of Keebler Elves) into a warehouse with the promise of a convention for culturally-appropriative hairstyles and donut-shamers. We then lock them in said warehouse until Grande and Jenner are forced to eat each other’s hair extensions for nourishment and Bieber simply explodes after being away from his Nintendo Wii and juice boxes for too long.

  9. Tracy says:

Brat. Plain and simple. Just a talented….brat.

  10. Alex says:

Now I realize just how similar she is to her equally horrible and annoying fame wh*re of a brother Frankie

  11. Bishg says:

    Ariana,
Should we address the alleged reason why you’ve lost so much weight during the past +3 years?
Bonus clue: It has nothing to do with healthy diet and exercising.

    • JenniferJustice says:

Yah, I was just thinking she has a problem with fat and cholesterol but evidentally not a problem with nose candy #priorities#.

  12. BengalCat2000 says:

This is so gross. I don’t even like to make out with a person unless their hygiene is above par. This douchette should pay.

  13. Izzy says:

It pisses me off that she won’t face any consequences. The donut shop probably left them out on the counter to serve her and her nasty friends, FFS.

The only good things that came out of this, as far as I’m concerned, are first that the public got a first-hand look at how nasty she really is, and second, that I had a good excuse to walk into a Tim Horton’s, have a photo taken of me biting into a chocolate dip while holding a box of Timbits, and troll her stupid self on Twitter with a directed Tweet telling her to “lick my Timbits.” Immature? Yes. Satisfying? Absolutely. Best effin’ donut I ever had. Period.

  14. JenB says:

I also tend to think money was exchanged. If the shop owner pressed charges the issue would be in the media longer and Ariana’s team wants the public to forget this incident ASAP. I love how her letters never even mentioned the much worse donut issue, focused only on her lame USA comment.
That kind of behavior speaks to the type of person she is. It wasn’t some isolated mistake.
I’m a health inspector-I will never forget your malicious donut crimes Ariana! I hope the backlash continues, she’s such a little twit.

  15. briargal says:

Of course she is not facing charges!!!! If this were anyone other than a celeb, they would be charged and have the book thrown at them. But then I guess it pays to be an entitled, snotty nosed brat —ala Bieber, Lohan, all the K’s. No surprise here on this story!!

  16. Frank says:

Arianas comment was really stupied, America is a continent. She said she hates all people who live on that continent. Her action was childish, licking on food, but I guess there are people who would pay a lot of money to buy one of these donuts, she licked. But I guess Ariana wouldn’t any food, which people spit on.

  17. LA Juice says:

wait, what the hell was she doing in Lake Elsinore?

  18. Trashaddict says:

Ah the power of choice in America. Stop buying her music, tickets to her concerts (spit on them if you like), and stop posting about her on this website. There are thousands of equally talented, hopefully better-behaved artists who could use the dough. They’re out there, just waiting in the wings.
