Star: Michael Cera is ‘obnoxious, rude and he treats women like objects’

'This is Our Youth' - Photocall

Of all the former child actors to call out for misbehavior, I never thought the tabloids would go after… Michael Cera. Cera is the star of Arrested Development (he was brilliant), Juno, Superbad, This is the End, etc. He transitioned from awkwardly brilliant teen actor to awkwardly brilliant young adult actor. He’s 27 years old now and he doesn’t look a day over 18. Star Magazine says that Cera is also a MONSTER!

This once-pale and skinny actor in Arrested Development, but the Juno and Superbad star Michael Cera has taken 180-degree turn with his charm.

“He’s obnoxious and rude and treats women like objects,” snipes a source about the unexpected Lothario. “He’ll use his humor to make women fall for him, then he’ll dump them once he gets what he wants.”

Maybe the fact that he’s been acting since he was nine is starting to catch up with his ego a bit.

“He talks down to people, but he’s so witty and people don’t realize that he’s openly mocking them,” dishes the source to Star. “Michael used to be the nicest guy, but within the last couple of years, the fame has changed him. The new Michael is unbearable”

[From Star Magazine]

This honestly feels like some kind of “meta” high-art project, like Cera called in this “tip” about himself to Star Magazine to see if he could get it published. It’s like taking the most random person you could ever think of and accusing him of whatever hot-button issue is out there. Michael Cera is a misogynist! Mariska Hargitay is anti-immigrant! Nina Dobrev doesn’t support #BlackLivesMatter! Right? It’s so bizarrely random, I have a hard time believing it. I mean, I’m sure Cera has done the “love ‘em and leave him” bit before, but does anyone believe that Cera is this much of a douchebag?

Here are some photos of Cera performing with his band (??) in Dublin last month. Is that the face of a douchebag? Or is that the face of a hipster who just pranked Star Magazine?

How in the hell is he getting women?

  2. Pandy says:

If I had to vote – douchebag.

    • Juliette says:

I second that. He’s got a bit of the douche face going on.

    • tifygodess24 says:

I agree , people are letting the baby face fool them.

    • Tippet says:

A straight white hipster guy is an asshole? No WAY.

    • Bianca says:

I think Lainey mentioned his douchey ways before. Just being rude and ungrateful. Something about refusing to be in the Arressted Development movie because he was too good.

    • Elisha says:

Absolute douche! Dorks are often douches–thinks MRAs, *they’re* dorks. Cera has some major Nice Guy™ going on, which this “is that the face of a….” post only perpetuates.

And how is his acting brilliant?!? He is the same character in every single movie!! I liked it in Superbad, that’s it. So glad his career is tanking. Bye Felicio!

      • bettyrose says:

Yeah, I kinda figure this is all true because the Micheal Cera’s of the world feel victimized, so on behalf of all the dorks who will never even get the chance to be entitled douchey womanizers, he has to douche for the team.

    • Bronson says:

Douche, indeed. A friend of mine interviewed him a couple of years ago and said he was condescending, rude and totally full of himself.

  3. Little Darling says:

    Michael Cera for Shaft.

    I can see it.

  4. minx says:

Sheesh, he should be grateful for any woman who would be interested in him.

  5. Lilacflowers says:

    Looks like a Duggar.

  6. Shambles says:

If the scene in “This is The End” in which he’s receiving a BJ while snorting coke and drinking a Capri Sun is any indication of his true self, I’ll believe it. 😉

On the real, I could honestly see this being true. He seems like he has a pseudo-intellectual hipster personality, which could translate easily to “is a douchebag to women.”

  7. oop says:

Is this really hard to believe? He does look like a douche to me. And he is a mediocre actor who plays the same part in everything.

  8. De says:

I’ve never been able to stand him, but I can’t put my finger on why. I don’t like that particular type of comedy movies he goes for though, so that might contribute.

  9. QQ says:

and looks like the literal embodiment of a Pinched Nerve, ya’ll forgot that

also I question who even gets with that clammy mayo sandwich of a blobby guy

    • Ally8 says:

“literal embodiment of a Pinched Nerve”, lol.

This is one of the funniest comment thread I’ve read on Celebitchy for a while. Michael Cera is clearly quite an insult muse.

  10. ladyg says:

IDK, I kinda believe it. Friends of ours, who work in H-wood, have said some not so flattering things about him. And wasn’t there a thing, many years ago now, where he was taped going off on set? Or, was that a prank? Can’t remember…

  11. Tiffany says:

There were minor rumblings that during his hayday he could be a douche. He was the holdout when AD was in movie development. He was too demanding because he thought he was the biggest star of the cast. There were some shade from Mitch H. himself. By the time the next season was picked up by Netflix he had to eat some humble pie and return to a venue he thought he was too good for.

    • LooseSeal says:

Actually Hurwitz himself debunked that. It was a joke he made at some event and the media picked it up so it became the big joke amongst the producers and cast that Michael Cera was the hold out on the final season. I could even see this story being a plant from Hurwitz to continue to mess with Cera.

  12. OhDear says:

Weird, I’m not a fan of his but I’ve read that he’s nice. That being said, not sure how reliable these accounts (both good and bad) are.

  13. Yelp says:

Wait are you telling me it isnt true that all good looking men are assholes and all ugly looking guys must automatically be nicer people??!!!
    My life is shattered.

  14. miasys says:

    Clammy mayo sandwich. DY. ING.

  15. meme says:

“brilliant” young actor? c’mon now, let’s be realistic. “brilliant” young actor like DeNiro in Mean Streets?

  16. Genny says:

So he acts like every character he’s played on-screen? Shocking.

  17. Felice. says:

Did they just watch This Is The End and roll with it?

  18. Freddy Spaghetti says:

I can believe his ego might have blown up after Juno and Superbad, but then he got pulled back down pretty fast after every other movie he did tanked.

He’s always struck me as a neurotic hipster.

  19. Shitler says:

    I believe this.

  20. jammypants says:

I only came here for the comments and they deliver.

  21. Jeanne says:

I take one look at him and assume he has bad breath. He has bad breath, right?

  22. speshul says:

    Cupcake batter
    Secret Duggar
    Pinched Nerve
    Clammy mayo sandwich blobby guy

I don’t even care about Ceras existence but the comments are gollllld. Now I’ll add one: a bowl of cold oatmeal

  23. Nikole says:

I’m here for his City Museum shirt <3

  24. miasys says:

When I look at him, I get the same feeling as when there is a hair stuck in my bra. Just. No.

  25. JENNA says:

That description sounds a lot like Jesse Eisenberg.

    • Zigggy says:

Yeah, I get them confused. I can see it being true of both of them though.

    • Careygloss says:

Ok I’m really weird I know but Jesse eisenberg…I find attractive. I wouldn’t say no. I think he’s talented and very unconventional in terms of his looks. Two things I like.

      • Ally8 says:

No, I’m with you on Jesse Eisenberg. He seems like you could have an interesting, intelligent conversation with him. Also, his features are not funhouse-mirror like Cera’s. Whereas Cera gives off a slightly socially challenged vibe.

  26. emma says:

he probably makes some sarcastic jokes about people and some don’t like it

    • ican'tsnap says:

But it’s satire… he’s writing it as if he really were a jerk, which he isn’t…

    • jm says:

But the text exchange was real…I thought?…I googled to find the article, but I remembered it being presented to me at one point as an actual happening…I could be wrong, I don’t pay too much atttention

    • Marny says:

That was all a joke! It’s really funny 🙂

    • jm says:

Oh oops…also just did some more research and it appears (just this once :p) I was mistaken….sorry! I change my vote to pretty funny guy

  27. shannon says:

Um, SEE: Jesse Eisenberg. OF COURSE he’s a douche. I loved him as Scott Pilgrim and Bleeker, but this story is completely unsurprising.

  28. MSat says:

He played a satiric version of himself in “This is the End.” The writers of that movie (Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg) thought it would be funny to have Cera play himself as a creepy jerk because, they said, he couldn’t be nicer in real life. So, not sure I believe this.

    Scott Pilgrim forever!

    • Erinn says:

im not jumping on the ‘hes a douche’ band wagon. Partially because I had a giant crush on him during AD/Juno. But also because the only stories about him being a douche are SATIRE. Like…the guys so ridiculously nice that theyve had him play douchey roles because its so not what hes like.

  29. Mark says:

Sound like a man, every woman wants.

  30. rudy says:

Isnt this the same guy that Schumar said was a douche?

  31. kitty28 says:

    LOL!!!!! Hahahahahahah! Too funny

You gotta love this is the end. That’s how I picture him in real life… Or at least I wish he was!

  32. I Choose Me says:

    The comments. I’m dying.

  33. Sassback says:

I don’t believe it, because I remember the rumblings of him refusing to continue Arrested Development and those are patently untrue because he did the new season and they’re currently filming another. I think he would show up for anything-he just did a bit part in Wet Hot Anerican Summer: First Day of Camp and was literally my favorite part of the whole series.

  34. Boston Green Eyes says:

There’s something very “Ancient Aliens” about his face.

  35. Betsy says:

I would not be surprised if he was a complete douche. Plus, his troll face.

  36. Ashley says:

Michael Cera ran in my good friend’s circle while he lived in Portland and was supposedly a cool, mellow guy. She actually did have a crush on him but he didn’t reciprocate.

  37. Nuhuh says:

I met Michael Cera at a cafe in Paris a couple of years ago and acted like I had no idea who he was so we had a good conversation, he was shy, approachable and exactly the dorky kind of guy you would expect him to be, he may treat the press a bit differently but to me he was nothing but lovely, I don’t believe the star article at all.
