Giada De Laurentiis and her husband Todd Thompson announced their split just after Christmas 2014. The announcement was not shocking in the sense that there were long-standing rumors of Giada’s wandering eye, seemingly made worse by the fact that Bobby Flay spent the weekend in Miami with Giada just before she announced her split (and months later, Flay would have his own messy divorce). Well, it took eight months and surprisingly little back-and-forth gossip between Giada and Todd, but they are now divorced. And the settlement definitely sounds like she’s paying for his silence.
Giada De Laurentiis is officially divorced from hubby Todd Thompson, but not without cost. TMZ has obtained a copy of the final divorce judgment, which orders Giada to pay Todd $9k a month in child support. Todd gets their $3.2 million house in Pacific Palisades and $300,000 in art and furnishings. He also gets to keep his membership in the swanky Bel-Air Bay Club which overlooks the Pacific.
Giada gets all rights to an untitled Italian cookbook and her production company, Linguine Pictures. She also gets all rights to GDL Foods, Inc. In other words, she gets to keep her brand. And get this … because there was no prenup, Giada must give Todd 50% of the unpaid advances to various cookbooks that are in the works, including a $2.5 million balance for Giada at Home/Weeknights with Giada, $2.3 million for Giada Feel Good Food, and $757,000 for Everyday Pasta/Giada’s Kitchen.
They’re dividing up various bank accounts, with a total balance north of $2 million. And of course, he gets to keep his Porsche and she gets to keep hers.
No one’s getting spousal support, because they’re both rich. His estimated worth is $15 million … hers is $20 million.
They’ll share joint custody of their 7-year-old daughter, Jade Marie.
That’s interesting that they’re both rich. I knew that he owned his own business and stuff but I didn’t know he was worth that kind of money. My guess – and I’m being generous – is that there’s such an equitable asset split because Todd and Giada really were together for a very long time. They were married for 11 years, but they were together for YEARS before they married (she’s 45, he’s 52). They really did have community property and I guess it’s nice that Giada didn’t put up too much of a fight about splitting their assets.

I’m pretty sure that based on the rumors of Giada being less than committed to fidelity that her lawyers were strongly encouraging her to just settle as quickly as reasonably possible. Now it will be interesting to see if she and Bobby Flay start circling each other . . .

He clearly gave her the money early on to establish her career, therefore he gets a cut of the profits as investors typically do.
How do know he gave her money? She’s the granddaughter of one the most famous producers. She wouldn’t need his money.
Being the ganddaughter of a wealthy person does not equal wealth for her necessarily.

This. Given The challenges Giada suffered as a child (do a Google search, I won’t mention it here), I wonder if this was more or a relationship/marriage between very good friends.
Ever since I read the write up of her in regards to her marriage ending, where a commenter referenced a blind and I clicked that link, I can’t get the image of her “eating a famous musician’s hotdog” out of my mind. The comment section here and on the blind site were just HILARIOUS euphamisms involving food, cooking and oral sex, which evidently she is notorious for.
So now, for me, she’s just green m&m style horny cooking chick who eats her food with pizazz. That’s all I think about her.

Exactly ^^^, they would be able to provide a similar life style for the daughter and if they are basically with similar net worth, why would she have to pay child support? Sounds like his net worth may be exaggerated.

Looked up her ex and they were together for a very long time, ever since she was 19-years-old and a college student at UCLA. I guess her marital advice to be a “traditional wife” didn’t work well for her. From her Redbook interview in 2011:
“I think it can be hard for any man to sometimes be upstaged by his wife. So when I’m home, I work very hard to be Todd’s wife and Jade’s mother. I have no problem going back to those traditional roles. I try to be Giada, the young girl that he met 20 years ago and fell in love with. All men want to be treated like kings in a relationship, and I think if women don’t indulge that sometimes, their men are likely to stray and look for someone who can give that to them. It’s simple. It’s not brain surgery.”

I always thought she seemed nice, and felt bad about those beej rumors. I grew up with Italian food and when I had cable TV I liked watching her show. She might be total mean girl for all I know, though. Divorce is sad and I feel bad for her kid.

I use to love watching her cooking shows and see her husband and child on there sometimes but now that I know about her infidelities….I’m torn of my opinion about her. They did make a great family but perhaps her fame got to her head. He seemed like he was a good husband to her and she has a beautiful daughter. Too bad she couldn’t keep her undies on.
