It used to drive me crazy that the idiot Hannity used to use Martina McBride’s Independence Day on his radio show. It would blast, “Let freedom ring!”, and I’m sure the lunatic didn’t know the song was about an abused wife who killed her husband.
While I’m not in the business of defending Hannity, in any respect, McBride performed that song live quite a bit in the early aftermath of 9/11. She started it with the chorus, which was easily applicable to the situation, and she did an A cappella version that was truly magnificent.
