Duchess Kate is ‘filled with horror’ whenever William rides his Ducati

TOO MUCH HAIR. Here are even more photos of Prince William and Duchess Kate, also known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn while in Scotland, which is where they are right now. They’re doing a day-trip to Dundee where they’re packing in like five or six events into one 24-hour period. By most reports, Prince George and Princess Charlotte did not fly out to Scotland with Will and Kate. The babies either were left with Nanny Maria or Carole Middleton (or both?), maybe in Berkshire, maybe in London, maybe at Anmer Hall. Who knows?

We do know that Will & Kate spent the night at St. Andrews, which is where they fell in love, at university. Although we know now – through the Duchess’s hagiographer Katie Nicholl – that Kate and William met before university and Kate basically threw herself into William’s path with all of her might once they got to St. Andrews. Anyway, Will and Kate stayed at the Old Course Hotel, in a room that goes for $470 a night. Maybe it was nice for them to have a little getaway from the kids. Meanwhile, this happened:

A local named Fearghas Simpson, 28, asked the Duchess if William still took his Ducati motorbike, which costs £20,000 and can go from 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds, out for a spin. The Prince was last seen riding the 190mph machine the night before the Royal Wedding in 2011.

Kate, who showcased a healthy glow and accessorised her look with coordinating blue drop earrings, a simple black clutch bag and suede gloves, replied: ‘He’s still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it‎. I’m terrified. Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Huh… I didn’t even remember that William had/has a Ducati and I certainly didn’t know he still rides it. William sure loves that kind of stuff, flying helicopters, riding motorcycles, etc. It IS horrifying when you think about Will riding his Ducati, especially considering his mother died in one of the most famous car accidents in history. Pretty dangerous.

Oh, and I have the IDs on the boots and the clutch too. Kate paired her bespoke Christopher Kane coat with the same Aquatalia boots she’s worn before, plus a Stuart Weitzman clutch. She’s also wearing her sapphire-and-diamond earrings, the ones that match her ring.

That “healthy glow” has created some deep forehead wrinkles. Nice to see her working a bit more.

  2. Loopy says:

Gloves, is it that cold in UK already?

    • Sixer says:

I put my heating on today. And I’m in the warm bit. Dundee is the cold bit!

    • imqrious2 says:

I just got back from England Tues. night. I was in London (and surrounding areas), for eight days. It was COLD! And damp/rainy… definitely puffer coat and wrap around scarf time (at least for this So. Calif. girl! lol) Highs were in the low 50s if that… so yes, cold! And of course, the ONLY bit of sunshine that came through was on the day I was leaving to come home 😛 lol

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I’m so glad my husband doesn’t ride a motorcycle anymore. They scare me to death.

    • FLORC says:

I still ride with mine. Still enjoy it. Just no highway! Side scenic roads only.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

FLORC! I bet you look awesome. I’m just a chicken. Be careful! ❤️

      • Eleonor says:

        Me too !

      • FLORC says:

Haha! I get stylish. Skinny jeans to tuck intto my tall boots. Fashion, but useful leather jacket. Full face helmet and gloves Always! I’m comfy enough to lean in for stability with fmorc, but higher speeds and I start bargaining with God with “I know I haven’t prayed lately”…
And light jacket and gloves for warm weather when fmorc might be in a T-shirt and turtle she’ll. I’ve seen too many accidents to not go fully covered.

    • savu says:

My mom’s first husband died riding his motorcycle (car’s fault.) It’s taken her decades, but now she and my dad each have their own bikes and ride together. Very strong lady. To each their own!

    • Jib says:

My husband has one and I HATE it. Hate.

      • tmot says:

I was SO GLAD when Mr TMOT sold his! It’s bad enough that he climbs rocks!
This post shows that no matter what Kate does she’ll get slagged off here.

  4. Anna says:

Judging from the comments on the other Kate post of the day, this is an unpopular opinion, but I think she looks really good here. The coat is amazing, and I don’t mind the big hair. She is still suffering from bang trauma, but there is nothing to be done until they grow out. I was thinking she looked like a woman who finally got to sleep a night without small children. But the boots are the WORST. She loves these cheap looking tight suede boots. The look would be so much more polished with leather boots.

    • Jib says:

I said the same thing on another site, she looks like she actually got a night’s sleep while in Scotland without kids. I bet that George doesn’t sleep and I’m sorry, even with a nanny, that has to be exhausting. She looks about 20 years younger in these pics than in the ones from the day before.

  5. Sixer says:

Kaiser! You’re doubleplus trolling us now!

    1: hilarious hair pics
2: using the Britisher press school of snarky digs – cf “hagiographer”

    More like this, please!

  6. savu says:

I have a coat that exact color! Looks good on us green-eyed brunettes. And probably everybody else. (GO BUY ONE)

  7. Jules says:

    She’s wearing a sheitl. It’s so much like my rabbi’s wife’s ‘do.

  8. BooBooLaRue says:

That blue coat is everything though! Please, please, please a good hair cut is indicated.

  9. FLORC says:

I can’t stand ducatis. Or the people who ride them generally. Horror sounds fair though.

And ugh. The more they are said to have the perfect love the more side eye they deserve. No love is perfect. Or marriage. Or the in between. That this couple have believers that believe there’s no wrong and no struggle because their love is pure joy is adorably naive. Maybe I’m jaded or just realistic.

    • COSquared says:

I just find it shady that this is the second “perfect marriage/couple” report within a month. It stinks of the usual Hollywood lovey-dovey PR=trouble at home situation. Maybe I’m reaching.:-/

    • V says:

Why do you hate Ducati riders? My fiance and I both ride bikes (he has a Ducati) and he’s a respectful, law-abiding guy and other Duc riders I’ve met (generally older guys) seem to be the same. He doesn’t ride like a nut or have a crazy loud exhaust. Just curious…

  10. Embee says:

Can you imagine how much improved her looks would be with a sleek lob?

    • tabasco says:

I just got myself a sleek lob and nothing but compliments! Actually more like a bob. Right about at the chin. My hair is black, not brown, and I didn’t have bangs, but I had a lot of hair. Not just length (I cut 9 inches off), but just a lot of it. I’m 39. I don’t believe in certain hair for certain age rules, but I think the Middleton girls need to be extra wary of styles that age them even further than their features/eyeliner. I think a bob/lob has a youthful vaguely schoolgirl effect, but is still sleek and sophisticated. So basically, yes, I agree about cutting her hair.

Lose the bangs, cut it to maybe 2 inches below the chin and lighten way up on the eye makeup. I think that would take several years off her and bring her into 2015.

      • Pondering Thoughts says:

        @ tabasco

What you described is more or less what Laetizia did and she always looks very elegant. Her bob gives her a younger and fresher air and her’s is long enough to do up-dos and stuff for formal events.

    • tabasco says:

Oh, and while we’re at it, let’s not leave the males out of the appearance-picking. Wills should borrow one of her wiglets or get some hair plugs because, damn. He could also stand to snap up his appearance with some proper cufflinks, a pocket square, better tailoring and tie selections. I’m sure that watch is worth more than my life, but as is, he looks like That Guy From Accounting. (No offfense, accountants.)

  11. Ankhel says:

Kate really looks good in jewel tones, much better than all that boring and ageing black. I rather like her hair too, so full, and none of those silly curls.

  12. ali.hanlon says:

It fills her with horror because if he dies in an
Accident now she doesn’t become Queen.

And boy her hair is terrible! Lil Kim has better hair.

    • Deedee says:

Yes. Something happens to Normal Bill, her stock goes way down.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

Eh…if (God forbid) something happened to Bill, she would still be a duchess/countess/princess and mother of the future king. Plus single and free to mingle. She could have a far worse lot in life, tbh.

  13. Tough Cookie says:

Her work ethic and hairstyle fill me with horror. The coat is hideous, I was surprised that it’s not as button-y as she seems to prefer.

Also, my husband has a motorcycle. Has had it for years. It is a mode of transportation. What does William do on it that fills her with horror?

And….all these events!! I hope they can add a few extra days onto Mustique as a reward. Dear God, they must be exhausted.

  14. Inge says:

She would look so cute with a bob.

  15. Jaded says:

That hair is so very wrong. What next? A Farah Fawcett flip from the 1970s?

  16. Stephanie says:

    What does “bespoke” mean?

  17. anne_000 says:

I’m sure that the hours she sits having her hair done (or put on), she’s also reading notes on the charities she’s about to visit. Because that’s the main thing, right? Not her hair but the charities and how it helps those in need. Anyhoo…

  18. T says:

As someone who lives in England, I am genuinely in shock at all of the royal experts we have across the pond. I don’t know what you think her job description is, but here we only expect her to wave and smile.

  19. Feeshalori says:

On the subject of William’s Ducati and whether he had one, I seem to recall stories of him riding it in Anglesey when he and Kate were living there. I also seem to remember reports that his high speeds used to give his bodyguards fits.

  20. What's inside says:

Well, let’s recap here. Prince William flies helicopters in the military and now has a part-time job flying helicopters, plays polo, had a run-in with a golf club, handles firearms and is known to stalk and hunt beasts, rides jet ski’s, snow ski’s, and now he continues to ride his beloved motorcycle. Kate is horrified?

    • Kori says:

He’s following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps for sure. Charles and Philip have both hurt themselves more than once in their activities. And Charles undertook a lot of them before either of his heirs were born so I’m sure that gave courtiers huge fits. Philip has over the decades played polo which left him with a broken bone in his left ankle, a gash to his left arm, fell from his horse and pulled a ligament in his left shoulder and developed synovitis, a rheumatoid condition of the tendon in the hand, after a polo fall; these injuries, which also left him with arthritis in his wrist, caused him to give up polo at which point he helped popularize carriage driving (and participated into his 90s) which left him with some back issues, has flown since 1952–had over 5000 hrs by 1992; rode horseback at the Trooping the Color until he was past 80–even though he found previous ceremonies so painful he had to lie on the floor afterwards to recover. Charles has a similar history–and famously received a very serious broken arm in a polo farm back in the ’90s. Charles is definitely the son, moreso than Andrew even who was a Navy pilot, who takes after his father in love of physically taxing activities with an element of risk. I guess William is following–though Harry does his share as well.

  21. MizFabulous says:

I’ve always thought that her hideous bangs were faux because they just don’t lay right. Have a closer look at the close-up photos of her face here, especially the one where her bangs are being blown up by the wind. Look at the hairline. To me, it looks like the entire top of her head is a wiglet, including those bangs. I’m growing out bangs and mine are at a similar length, but mine don’t lay like that and you can also see more of my scalp in the part of my hair than you can with Kate’s and my hairline is not so separated from my bangs.
