    Nooooooooooo!

    Why God, why?

  2. Abbott says:

HODOR! This ruins my whole weekend. I feel like Jon Snow coming off a three-day bender. Bring me my Darth Sansa mourning clothes! The earth is evil. We don’t need to grieve for it. We’re alone. Life is only on earth, and not for long….

    • Lilacflowers says:

I f’ing hate Thenns. This is their fault!

      • Abbott says:

And imagine how long we’ll have to wait to hear Kit Harington say words!

      • Chinoiserie says:

        Abbott, lol.
I was kind of expecting this since they barely managed to finish in time for seasons 4 and 5 and there is more CGI and difficult shooting every year. I would be sad but have my exams in the spring and felts so guilty this year for spending so much time on Game of Thrones forums that maybe this is good.

    • mimif says:

HODOR! The night is dark and full of bullsh-t! Poala is going to commit seppuku when she hears this.

ETA: How many of you Hodorettes will read the 6th book if it actually does come out?

      • Abbott says:

A Girl must seppuku when seppuku is necessary. Or something.

      • mimif says:

There must always be a Stark in my pants.

      • Bridget says:

Is it cold in here or are you just happy to see me?

I will probably read the 6th book and then hate myself in the morning.

      • mimif says:

I’m so not reading that vile misogynistic gratuitous rapey violent trash! I’ll wait for the show so I don’t have to think.

Also, pretty sure Reddit just imploded.

      • paola says:

ok no seppuku for now but i’m on my way to Weiss and Benioff’s houses and I mean business.
I’m expressing the biggest WTFs of my life because show and books are two completely different stories right now and the delay is just pointless. They went ahead with the show KNOWING that they might have done so without GRRM’s original story so wtf are they doing this for????
They’re playing with fire and they ain’t Targaryen
        Get.Your.Shit.Together.

I think GRRM will pull a Beyoncè and come out with the book out of the blue. Maybe tomorrow!

Aghhh I hate all of them.

        Mimif,
I agree. There always have to be a Stark in my Winterpants and no I won’t be reading the book.
I’m too pissed right now that even if GRRM gave me a part in it I’d refuse it.

      • paola says:

on second thoughts though..they’re filming the new series already so it would be fair to think that the 6th book is finished and delaying the show will buy GRRM some more time to finish the 7th book that I’m sure is just a bunch of lines at this very moment.

      • Bridget says:

They’re 2 different entities at this point, but this isn’t the difference between one of the Dothraki khal living in the book where he died in the show – Jon’s fate is the biggest reveal in the story, and there’s a very high likelihood that it’ll be similar enough between page and screen that it would utterly spoil the book.

Also, anyone familiar with GRRM’s work for the last decade could have predicted this would happen. He really didn’t think HBO would go forward without him, and it seems this was an unpleasant surprise. As I posted below, my guess is that Book 6 is actually finished and they’re giving this tiny bit of extra time to actually release it, because from what I understand it takes 4-6 months to get the book published and out. With that timeline, the only reason why they’d delay isn’t to give extra time for GRRM to compose, but because the release date is close to the premiere date and they’re giving a courtesy, knowing that it’ll be huge press for the show to have Book 6 actually come out around premiere time.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I will read if the book is released in my lifetime. Because Drogon!

      • Abbott says:

Paola just said GRRM will pull a Beyonce. Someone put coins on my eyes because I’m dead like Tywin.

I wonder what the deal was between the publisher and HBO. Seems strange HBO was push back their biggest show out of the goodness of their hearts?

      • Lilacflowers says:

@paola, GRRM does not write during the NFL season. Apparently, developing conspiracy theories about Bill Belichek takes up all his creative energy.

      • Bridget says:

The other part is that they could legitimately need more time to finish the effects on the show. It’s getting more and more elaborate as the White Walkers are playing a bigger part of the story.

@lilac: is he still doing that? I’ve wondered if he had to change that policy once HBO dropped the hammer on him a year or two back. He really never thought they’d go forward without him, it must have been a very rude awakening.

      • mimif says:

Seven Hells, he isn’t a Pats fan is he? Speaking of, what the ever living f-ck is up with my Hawks?!

      • vauvert says:

Can I just get some tea and sympathy here? I remember picking up the first book and reading it in one night back in Bellevue many many moons ago – it feels like a different lifetime. I was on my first marriage, no kids, fully able to stay up all night engrossed in a book if I wanted to. That is how long I have been waiting to find out how it all ends, what happens to Tyrion and Cersei and Eddard’s children. And if God forbid GRRM passes away before he finishes, he will still have the last laugh because he has left instructions that no one else is to finish his books for him. On one hand I don’t blame him at all, his world and his choice, but damn that is cold…
So cheer up guys, this delay is nothing compared to my long watch twenty years I think and counting:-)
PS He is said to now be working during footballs eason too, he has cancelled a bunch of appearances so fingers crossed. To mark time I am reading the superb, huge and highly detailed companion book that has the history of the 7 Kingdoms al the way to Robert. It is a spectacular book.

      • paola says:

        Vauvert,
You’re the truest fan I know. I wouldn’t have waited 25 years if I’m honest.
I’ve just found out that the latest Sophie Kinsella’s book is in 2 parts and the second has not been released yet! It put me off completely! 😂😂

        I am that shallow.

      • mimif says:

GRRM has already said that a couple stans have figured out the basics of how it ends, and pretty sure one of those dudes is on Reddit.

Also: CLEGANEBOWL. Please make this happen. The End.

      • Cindy says:

        @vauvert
wait, like Bellevue the suburb of Seattle, or the “other” Bellevue. Not judging, I’m gonna end up in the “other” Bellevue if they can’t get it together to start the new season.

        ps
please know I’m kidding, I’m only serious about the part where *I* end up there.

      • Bridget says:

@Vauvert: You’ll appreciate this then – I started the series about 13 years ago, on the recommendation of someone at the University Village Barnes and Noble. I still remember sitting and reading book 3 (when it had just come out on paperback, no less) in the waiting room when my then-boyfriend/now husband was in for a major surgery. It was a nice way to avoid the awkwardness of hanging with his parents 🙂

Also, it’s all about the crappy Offensive Line and it doesn’t help that crappy plays are being called. WTF.

      • Cindy says:

        @mimf
I have an embarrassing confession to make. I got all riled up and huffy over the Sansa rape scene and vowed never to watch again. My resolve listed about 2 days (ok, an hour), and I was like, aw to hell with it and was right back watching the next episode without a second thought. I suck.

      • mimif says:

@Cindy, I almost cracked the Bellevue joke too! But then thought that would make me a horrible person, so we can be horrible together. And there’s plenty of legitimate criticism about the show/book, but um WHITE WALKERS so I’m in til the end.

@Bridget, totally crappy calls, even my Hawks hating friends are calling those out. And no Beast Mode, who btw is what my bulldog is dressing up as tomorrow. I might even make out with him.

      • vauvert says:

You guys are too funny:-) Bellevue as in the Seattle suburb:-) I loved living there but as a Canadian being there on my hubby’s visa I could not work (long story there, that’s why I ended up divorcing, there’s only so much shopping one can do without going crazy…) and very close to our condo there was this huge B&N. It was heaven. At the time we had nothing like that in Canada, nor Starbucks. So yeah, I was spending a lot of time between Nordstrom, the bookstore, the fantastic Bellevue library (they would send you books home. WHO does that??) and Starbucks, and I remember picking the book up, loving the original cover art and thinking that it sounded great and quite a departure form his Wild Cards series. (Yes, I am a geek. All the way.)
At the time there was nothing like it so I became quiet entranced with the series. And the second novel did not take that long… but it all went to pot after that. I do hope he will finish it, after being invested in those characters for so damn long. I have had a longer relationship with this book (and some shoes) than either of my marriages (although given time I sincerely hope this second one will outlast GRRM’s snail pace). Not sure of that is sad or what. I try to stay positive: by the time he is done my son will be old enough to read them and watch the show. We are very liberal but I draw the line at this, not so much because of the sex in it, but the casual violence would literally give him nightmares.
Sorry, that was a very rambling post, wasn’t it??

      • mom2two says:

@mimif, according to his blog GRRM is a New York football team fan…Jets and Giants.
Honestly, I don’t see the big deal about GoT airing a couple of weeks later. I would be shocked if the 6th book is out before then (it won’t be) and it gives the show more time to wrap and do special effects. I do believe they were working on post-production on some episodes almost right up to the premiere.
The problem is that HBO does not have that signature drama waiting in the wings once GoT exits stage left. They had hopes for TD and The Leftovers, the former just got off of a bad season and the latter did a soft reboot for it’s second season but I am not sure if it’s ratings has improved. For what it’s worth, I do like The Leftovers, but it’s not getting GoT like ratings.
Allowing them to air Vinyl with some GoT teases, they think, will help it’s viewership plus Vinyl is a joint production of Scorcese, Terrence Winter and Mick Jagger. HBO would like this show to take off because they need a replacement for GoT once the show exits stage left in either 2017 or 2018.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@mimif, no, GRRM is no Pats fan. Pretty much considers them the source of all evil or something. The Night King is based on Belichick apparently.

      • mimif says:

Haha! That’s the best thing I’ve read all morning. HODOR!

  3. Arock says:

This is unacceptable. 2 Steve Jobs movies but they can’t get GoT out before spring, what is this world coming to…

  4. INeedANap says:

Is that a little penguin in a dickie Peter Dinklage is holding? It’s adorable. But why is he holding it?

  5. neutral says:

Laughed the other day – for those in the UK there was a review of The Lsst Kingdom which started its tv serialisation last week. The reviewer – Is it Like Game of Thrones? No it’s Downton Stabby.

    • Olenna says:

I’ve been watching The Last Kingdom just to past time until Vikings and GOT returns, and I’ll say it’s just *OK*. But, it looks like I’ll have to find something else to fill in the gap since GOT is starting so late.

      • Abbott says:

I tried the same with Bastard Executioner and it is television butt garbage. Westworld looks like it may be good, though.

      • Olenna says:

Abbott, I tried watching The BE, too. It was horrible. I’ll definitely check out Westworld. The cast line-up looks amazing!

      • mimif says:

Lady Olenna Tyrell, is that you??

      • Olenna says:

Ah, my dear mimif, there’s only one Queen of Thorns. But, I’m happy to be her namesake ’cause she’s just all kinds of slick and savvy, and fun to watch.

    • antipodean says:

The Last Kingdom is dire. It’s only redeeming feature is Mr Rutger Hauer, the original Dutch beefcake, and all round fab actor. Downton Stabby is hilarious, what a wit. I don’t think my life will come to a screeching halt for lack of more GOT. Somehow I will carry on regardless.

      • Olenna says:

I love Rutger Hauer. I read an interview he gave about the show and he said he’d always wanted to play a Viking. Sadly, his character didn’t last long.

  6. lucy2 says:

    “Hide yo’ models!”
    Bwahaha!

  7. Bridget says:

I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they were holding it back to give GRRM a tiny bit more time – at this point, it would mean that the book is done or in the final stages of editing (because it takes something like 4-6 months to actually get the book set, printed, and out), and so they’re going to give the publisher the courtesy. I’ve said it before: there’s no way the publisher would be okay with the series’ biggest reveal being seen on HBO first. They must have been hustling GRRM hard to get this done.

    • mimif says:

ITA and we all know how much GRRM likes to be pressured. Well damn, time to bust out the reading glasses and put vacation time in then. Better be good, Georgie!

    • paola says:

Sorry Bridget, I didn’t see your comment before posting mine. I just posted the same thing.
GRRM is a lazy ass, time to stop sipping wine and post pics on Instagram.
      Finish your frigging book dammit!

      • Bridget says:

Serves you right for not hanging on to my every word like it’s gold 🙂 (or dragonglass!)

Though for what it’s worth it wouldn’t be a Beyonce. The book was initially supposed to come out this year, so people are actually expecting this thing to get done soon.

      • paola says:

Dammit now all I can think of is GRRM in a black leotard a la Beyoncè in single ladies !! 😂😂😂

Ahh Bridget I was just too impatient to post my comment so forgive me.. But I do adore dragonglass and your comments along with it.

So…. about this book.. don’t you think the biggest cliffhanger (Jon Snow) will be given away relatively early in the first pages?
I’m sure GRRM will drag it on and on and oooooon and oooooooooon just to keep people obsessing over it.
I can totally see him revealing Jon’s fate at the end of the book.
        *slams fist on the table*

      • mimif says:

        paola has gone Full Cersei!

      • paola says:

*slams fist on the table and grabs cup of wine*

NOW I have gone full Cersei!

      • mimif says:

        SHAME *rings bell*

      • Bridget says:

GRRM would rock that leotard and you know it.

It doesn’t really matter where in Book 6 it’s revealed, as long as it’s revealed at all.

      • paola says:

How I have missed the GoT posts!!

      • Bridget says:

Me too, paola, but I’ve also been SUPER busy with work and kids so I’m okay with the break.

      • Lilacflowers says:

You haven’t gone full Cersei until you slam your fist on the table, grab a glass of wine, give really stupid orders that get someone killed, and have sex with a family member; all in the space of one scene. That’s what it takes to go Full Cersei.

      • Nikki says:

Had to thank LILAC FLOWERS for what it takes to go full Cersei! Sorry I’m so late.

  8. Daria Morgendorffer says:

I read somewhere that after he appeared on Breaking Bad, Jesse Plemons got the nickname “Meth Damon” partially because the show involves meth, but also because he looks like a less attractive version of Matt Damon (depending on who you ask, obviously). I’m going to say that model is Meth DiCaprio because although I’m not much for thinking Leo is gorgeous, that guy is a much less attractive version of him.

  9. jeanpierre says:

I’m so sad right now. GoT usually comes back around my bday.
I like Jenna Jameson whatever she does, can’t help it. I hope she’ll get it together somehow.
