Game of Thrones Season 6 teaser: ‘They have no idea what’s going to happen’

snow3

HODOR. Spoilers. Or something. Mostly Hodor.

I don’t understand how – AT THIS POINT – HBO can release a Game of Thrones teaser and not include any HODOR. But that’s just what they did. It should be said, HBO is really trolling the fanbase. The new season won’t be premiering until April, which is just an assumption at this point because no one at HBO has actually announced the premiere date. Think about that for a second – they haven’t nailed down a premiere date and yet they’re already releasing teaser trailers. Not that we’re seeing any new footage from Season 6. Does that make it better or worse? Worse, I think. Because it’s just cruel. Here’s the teaser.

Basically, the only new thing is Bran (yay, BRAN!) saying “they have no idea what’s going to happen.” And I guess the voiceover is new too – that’s Max von Sydow, the three-eyed raven. He’s been training Bran this whole time. Did Bran “see” Jon Snow’s ass get stabbed a million times? Did Bran see Drogon flying in to rescue Dany? Did Bran see Cersei’s walk of *rings bell* SHAME? Bran sees all. Hodor sees all. Game of Thrones is merely Hodor’s fever dream.

As for Jon Snow’s stabbed ass and the “he’s totally dead, TOTALLY” fake-out, I’m assuming that they wouldn’t feature Jon Snow’s SadDeadFace so prominently if the whole season was about Jon Snow being completely dead the whole time. It would be like spending half a teaser trailer focused on Robb Stark, you know?

FOUR MORE MONTHS. At least! It will probably be more than four months. Which means HBO is just being really mean.

It’s so freaking long till’ april, damn it. Exactly when in april is it airing? The only thing that would make the waiting bereable would be if it was starting on my birthday.

    • Chinoiserie says:

Well the speculation was that it might not even air in April since HBO had scheculed some other show (can’t remeber the name) on Game of Thrones slot, but it is now confirmed that Season 6 will air in April, so it will be maybe the last weeked of April. But nobody knows yet.

    • Olenna says:

Yes, April *is* a long way off, so at this point they’re just effing with GOT fans. We’re not going anywhere, so stop with the too early teasers. We’ll slug out the winter with nothing of consequence to watch (not counting The Vikings in Feb?), then gleefully plop our azzes down in front of the tube for the season premiere, whenever that is.

    • Kaye says:

      April is coming.

  3. GlimmerBunny says:

I’m not a Jon fan at all, but I got chills watching the trailer, something about the combination of the music, clips and voice-over was just so epic.

And yay for a flash of the Sansa/Lor Baelish kiss, I hope they have lots of interaction and romance in the new season (I also hope Littlefinger and his army kill that bastard rapist Ramsay in the most gruesome way possible as revenge for how he treated Sansa).

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

But Lord Baelish is a horrible person – he gave that poor woman to Jeoffry to shoot up with arrows just because she cried in front of his clients. Why do you want poor Sansa to get involved with him? I do agree and hope Ramsay gets the most hideous death ever.

      • GlimmerBunny says:

I know he’s done some bad things but I admire his ambition and intelligence, he really knows how to play the Game of Thrones. And in fiction in general I’m a sucker for ships with a villain and the one person who’s their soft spot (which I think will eventually be his downfall in the books – he will share too much with Sansa and she will ruin/kill him). And I think they have great chemistry.

      • Ashling says:

Petyr did not let Jofferey kill Ros because she cried in front of clients. He killed her because she was spying on him for Varys and exposing information that could have gotten him killed for treason. He was disappointed he made a “bad investment” in trusting her and making her his right hand woman.

      • Liv says:

It’s true that the Petyr in the books is smart and a good player, but the Petyr in the film acted stupid and amateurish when he left her with the Boltons. She was horribly raped, there’s no excuse for that – a man like Petyr would have known that. But the series is getting a lot of stuff wrong.

      • Bridget says:

Littlefinger is pretty awful, but he’s one of the few characters to acknowledge that he’s out for Numero Uno. And the fact that he’s a wildcard adds an interesting element to the mix.

      • tracking says:

I agree, I don’t want to see Sansa with Littlefinger either (blech). Somehow I can’t seem him being redeemed the way Jaime has (somewhat) been.

      • Bridget says:

It’s always been clear that Jamie, while making supremely bad choices, still has a sense of honor, duty, and what is right. Littlefinger doesn’t care.

      • suziekew says:

I can’t help myself but I like Lord Baelish too. He’s one of the villains you love to hate. He’s very intelligent and is very astute in dealing with all the characters. I think he definitely cares for Sansa the same as he did her mother and will protect her somewhat, although I hated he left her with the pig Ramsey. Ramsey, more than just about anyone in the story line, I want to see have a gruesome ending. He is one of the most evil fictional characters ever.

I am so glad I didn’t click on that mushroom link while at work.

    • iseepinkelefants says:

Whomever does HBO’s clips really does a fantastic job. And they usually have bomb music to go along with it. One year it was Lykki Li, another is was Mikky Ekko. I always get chills when watching their “commercials”. They need to give whomever is in charge a raise for really bringing the feels.

    • WendyNerd says:

Ew. She’s a teenager. And he’s a monster. Who has coerced her and sold her to her rapist.

  4. t.fanty says:

I don’t know. I thought the last season really fell off, once they departed from the books. I’m not sure they won’t just descend into violent melodrama without Martin.

    • mom2two says:

I feel the same way t.fanty. Last season, outside of a couple episodes, just was not that good. The plotting was rushed and off ( Hi Stannis’ storyline!). I think their Emmy win was a make up for the years they should have won (season 1 or 3). I find Kit and Emilia’s acting so unappealing. I was actually Team Jon Snow Stay Dead, even though I knew there is no way the show was going to do that.
It seems like the trailer is promising some Stark revenge though and I hope season 6 is better than 5.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Agree. I hate the direction they’re going in. All white walkers and Bran’s eyes rolling back in his head.

    • jugstorecowboy says:

I thought I was the only one…I stopped watching after episode 2, it was just so boring. Does it get better? And GOT was the whole reason I bought DirecTV from a door-to-door salesman. Now I cancelled HBO, and my kids are addicted to Teen Titans GO

    • Bridget says:

I personally think the opposite – the show is in many ways hamstrung by how crappy the last couple of books are. But the show is always going to feel a little rushed, since they’re trying to fit a thousand pages of source material into 12 hours of television.

  5. Abbott says:

Outside of Bran’s Westeros Wargaloo, someone on another site pointed out that the scene where the wights are busting through that door isn’t from Hardhome. They are in what looks to be Night’s Watch robes.

  6. Word says:

    Can’t wait.

  7. Aussie girl says:

Finally some Bran, HODOR!!! They told us John was dead and dead, is dead, is dead. But everyone keep saying, ” you know nothing HBO”.

  8. Jenns says:

There better be some hot white walker action next season. And by that I mean WW kicking butt and taking names.

  9. Size Does Matter says:

Please, sir, can I have some more?

  10. FingerBinger says:

That wasn’t much of a trailer.

  11. Goodnight says:

Bran can’t be seeing those things in the cave unless HBO dun goofed. To see events like that (such as Ned cleaning Ice by the heart tree) there has to be a Weirwood tree present, and it has to be one with eyes to see from, one that the COTF carved a face in. There are none inside Castle Black, none across the Narrow Sea, there were none where Jaime lost his hand and so forth.

Who knows how the wiernet will work on the show, though.
