NeNe Leakes dishes on her View experience: ‘all of them are tired’

It’s round 2 of NeNe Leakes versus The View and this former Real Housewife of Atlanta spilled the “T” to Watch What Happens Live‘s Andy Cohen about her recent visit the talk show. Put on your reading glasses, the library is open!

The 47-year-old reality show personality turned actress (to her credit, she was pretty good on the sadly short-lived sitcom, The New Normal) made an appearance on the panel talk show last month to promote her Broadway stint as Mama Morton in the musical Chicago (the role played in the film by Queen Latifah). After the appearance she posted (and then deleted) a tweet saying, “Just sat down with a bunch of mean girls turning up their noses, looking u up & down as if u don’t belong. The HATE was so real & SAD.”

Was it really? NeNe’s appearance started out oddly, with co-host Joy Behar claiming NeNe’s massive ring was going to leave a bruise on her shoulder after NeNe smacked her on the arm twice playfully when Joy didn’t get up to hug her (Joy said “If I’ve got a black a blue mark, I’m gonna sue your ass“.) NeNe’s Dancing with the Stars colleague, Candace Cameron Bure brought up meeting NeNe’s husband Gregg, which prompted Joy to dig a little into why she remarried him. NeNe told her she wanted to teach him a lesson, and, when egged on by Joy as to what that lesson was, NeNe dropped this little bit of shade, “To never cross me in the wrong way. How about that?” Jabs continued to be exchanged between Joy and NeNe for the rest of the segment. Joy sarcastically called NeNe “very modest,” and told her, “No wonder you’re friends with Donald Trump” after NeNe claimed that some other reality stars had been trying to “imitate the NeNe Leakes brand.”

Later, Joy and Whoopi gave NeNe grief about photos of her new home, making a point to call her out for not having any pictures of the home after it was furnished. NeNe said she didn’t want photos of her furniture airing because of “security” (huh?) and asked the gals if they enjoyed working with Joy, adding her own sarcastic “Isn’t she something?” You can see the segment in all of its awkward glory here and below.

Well, when Andy Cohen wanted the dirt from NeNe on Sunday’s Watch What Happens Live, she was more than happy to share her side. She reveals it wasn’t just Joy who she felt had it in for her. “Now, Joy was definitely throwing a lot of shade, but there was someone else on the panel that threw shade as well, as far as looking me up and down,” she told him. “Now, we were live, so as far as what the cameras shot or showed, I don’t know. It didn’t show everything. But I could tell you that there were a couple of people on that panel who were very shady.” Shady? That’s so Raven, isn’t it? When Andy asked if she was referring to the former Cosby kid, she replied “Probably” and took a parting shot at the View ladies, stating, “I know all of them are tired: Their hairstyles are tired, their makeup is tired. Whatever.”

It kind of seems like much ado about nothing. Yes, The View is pretty much the worst. Why anyone would want to watch 5 loud women attempt to talk over each other for an hour is beyond me. But were they really that awful to NeNe? The woman was a Real Housewife, for Pete’s sake. She’s endured worse, and had less to say about it.

Oh, by the way, NeNe should probably find another outlet to display her talent. My friend saw her in Chicago last week and gave me this short and sweet review, “She was sweet, but can’t sing. Lol.” If you watch the clip from The View, you’ll agree. NeNe doesn’t have the pipes for Broadway. What NeNe does have is the ability to generate publicity, which is what this situation boils down to. Whose side are you on, Team View or Team NeNe?

I agree the women on the view are nothing but loud-mouths, and they completely talk over one another. I can’t believe the show is still on the air. Does anybody watch it anymore?

    • LadyMTL says:

I actually watched an ep this past summer when I was on vacation and needed some background noise while I was reading (yes, I read with background noise, go figure lol).

It turned out to be the infamous episode where Kelly Osborne made those comments about immigrants cleaning toilets – I’m paraphrasing – and that was the last time I tuned in. The show has run its course, it really ought to be cancelled.

      • joan says:

        She’s right, it’s tired.

It’s hard to see her so desperate to find something to do.

I saw Nene sing on TV and was surprised she wasn’t too bad. But not for Broadway.

I think she should be a nightclub “chanteuse.” Sing smoky, soulful, sexy songs wearing a gorgeous long wig. Be funny in a quiet way, try to have a little class.

    • bellenola says:

      Nope.

  2. aims says:

Team Nene. The View is terrible. The women are a bunch of hyenas laughing. They just say things and very rarely is it intelligent. I can’t with the show.

    • V4Real says:

I’m team no one. Nene is just as deplorable as the women on The View. She has said and done worse. This is just a case of I can dish it but I can’t take it.

And who’s hair is she calling tired? Has this woman looked in the mirror.

      • Bridget says:

Agreed. Just because I can’t stand The View doesn’t mean that they were wrong to actually ask NeNe questions. The NeNe Leakes Brand. Ugh.

      • Santia says:

Preach! Nene’s “hair” needs to be taken out and beaten.

  3. Eggland's worst says:

I’m on team none-of-the-above. They ALL need to go away.

  4. bros says:

Nene could never take criticism. she can always dish it out but could never ever bear to be questioned.

  5. FingerBinger says:

Nene got a taste of her own medicine. She’s behaved just as bad on real housewives of Atlanta.

  6. Chelly says:

Is there a 3rd team? Cause they’re ALL tired

  7. Talie says:

I did think it was weird that Nene kept hitting Joy… I was like, what the hell is this? You could tell Joy was genuinely taken aback.

    • bros says:

Nene thinks everyone needs to bow down to her constantly. I can’t stand watching her-she was so awful the last few seasons of RHOA as soon as she started getting any work outside of the show. she really thought she was the most famous person on earth and had a way overinflated sense of her own relevance.

  8. stinky says:

very professional – whether they were all hatin’ or not.
they all hustlas and Nene’s poise surprised me.

  9. JudyK says:

I didn’t think they were mean to her. Joy’s always passive-aggressive, and that’s a trait I can’t stand in ANYONE for ANY reason, including so-called humor.

  10. justanothergossiper says:

I think Nene and Joy have two very different personalities. Nene has a long memory. If you snub her once, she will remember forever.

I think Joy will tell you what she thinks and then let it roll off her shoulder. but I also think Joy isn’t a fan of reality stars becoming popular actors or comedians.

  11. Nancy says:

The View hasn’t been the same for years, however….NeNe? She is copyright like possibly 2010-2012. She should be happy she’s invited on any show and stop biting the hand that feeds her. Nene has leaks for sure, from her big mouth.

  12. bcgirl says:

“Put on your reading glasses, the library is open!”

    awesome.

  13. Kelly says:

I saw Nene on Dancing with the Stars, and she was vile to Tony. Sounds like she’s perfect for the show which is equally vile.

  14. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

Yeah, Joy & Raven were bitchy. Whoopi seemed okay.

As I watched the video, I kept thinking of the Friends episode – the one where Ross’ teeth were bleached too white. I couldn’t stop staring at Nene’s chompers. I think they could be categorized as a lethal weapon. Yes, there is such a thing as too damn white.
