Miley Cyrus’s new ‘BB Talk’ video: ridiculous or catchy? (NSFW)

Miley Cyrus sort-of won me over with her talented performance on A Very Murray Christmas. She dressed appropriately, for her, she sang her heart out, and she sort-of proved that she’s more than capable of performing typical songs, in normal clothes, with her tongue in her mouth and her ass in line with the rest of her body. It’s rather clear that Miley would prefer not to perform this way, however. Her new video, for BB Talk, has so much wrong with it I don’t know where to start. Leave it to Miley to pose as a sexualized baby with comically oversized accessories. Here are my thoughts as I watch this ridiculous video.

First thoughts: of course Miley is smoking pot, and of course she drops an F bomb to start it off. At least there’s no baby with a bong in the beginning. (Update from later in the timeline, Miley smokes a baby bottle bong at the end.)

:20 Miley’s baby outfit isn’t entirely see through. That’s progress.

:30 If she has long hair does that mean she’s supposed to be a toddler, not a baby?

Since when do babies wear oversized milkmaid hats?

What is she talking about even? Is she waxing philosophical about a past relationship while she’s involved with another guy? I really do not need to see her in a diaper. Why does she sound like she’s got a mouth guard in?

:40 This beat is catchy and I like the dancing babies in the oversized diapers. This video needs more giant outfits and less Miley.

:45 I saw nip while she was crawling toward the giant bottle.

1:00 oh hell no with that tiny leotard in the crib. That’s like what she wore in the Terry Richardson photoshoot.

The chorus does not redeem this song. I’d rather hear Miley’s smoker’s voice than this melancholy singing.

1:15 Miley has her legs over her head with her ass in the air. I can’t.

1:30 Whose baby talk is Miley complaining about? Is it the new guy in bed with her or the old one she’s thinking about in a marijuana haze?

1:33 She actually howled.

1:39 The chorus ends with “F*ck me so you stop baby talking.” That line is somewhat genius and now I know she’s mad at the new guy.

Jesus there are three minutes left… if I scroll down I can have a nice palette cleanser by watching Adele’s Hello for the 20th time.

I’m sorry for doing this to you, but I had to see it so you do too:

This song had some funny lines in it, I have to give it up to Miley:

You put me in these situations where I look like a f*ing dumbass bitch and I’m not a dumbass bitch.”

I hate all that f’ing PDA I probably hate it more than your f*ing friends do.”

2:30 When Miley sings “I feel like I’m going to vomit” and then we see Miley with with her legs wrapped around a giant baby bottle rolling around on the floor, I can totally relate.

I swear to you I watched the rest of this goddamn video. She sucks her toe, wears footie pajamas, and then spoiler – goes into detail about having sex with the guy and enjoying it despite his cutesy schtick annoying her.

I really wanted this post to end here, I don’t enjoy talking about Miley showing side mons and humping her crib as a sexualized baby, but there’s a mammy character who appears at the end because of course there is.

I’m usually cool with now nuts Miley is because truly she wasn’t harming anyone. Until today.
This video is harmful. It is not alright to sexualize babies like this. I know it’s trying to show how she feels when he baby talks and all that, but she has taken this way too far. It’s dangerous. It’s wrong. And as the mother of a baby I’m not happy with this at all.

    • mimif says:

Mikey is obviously trying to cash in on FAKE BABY’s meteoric rise to stardom.

    • BossyKat says:

I don’t understand it. Mind you I’ve only read the description and haven’t watched.

I guess if she’s talking about men who have infantilized her as a young woman while in bed. ..and she’s calling their pseudo-pedo’ing out, perhaps it’s OK.

If she’s not doing that, she’s awful. No surprise.

Hard for me to believe she’s being all feminist and coming down on those who sexualize children or fetishize very young women and want to ‘bb talk’ when a) she’s known for cavorting around with predator photogs who force impressionable teens and workplace harrass them…and b) she herself was very fond of exhibitionism as a young teen with her naked selfies. She was exploiting youth in those instances too.

kids today, can be up on charges for sending their own nude selfies.

Also, what bugs me is Miley turning in a respectable in tune performance of whatever song (the Murray X’mas show)..and people thinking she’s Whitney Houston just because she chose not to twerk and croak and grab her crotch through the performance.

That doesn’t make her amazing, it makes her one of the okay highlights of a suburban high school talent show.

    • Becki says:

As a parent, this is totally horrifying to me. Sexualizing children is harmful & dangerous, and now she’s brought it all the way down to babies. Just the thought of this video is enough to turn my stomach. It’s awful.

    • Diva says:

      This is disgusting.

  2. Josefina says:

    Okay then, Miley…

  3. QQ says:

F*ck this and F*ck this Hick with a Black People as accessories fetish , Just No I’m not gonna even give her the video Click so thanks for sacrificing your ears and eyes for us

  4. Marnie says:

I’m going to make it my life’s mission to never watch this video.

  5. mimif says:

I’m not watching or listening to that hillbilly trash but your recap was f-cking hilarious CB.

  6. L says:

    There’s..an actual…’mammy’????!!!!

    ???!!

    “And I’m not a dumba** bi*ch”
    DEBATEABLE

  7. Sarah01 says:

She is a beyond gross and her whole theme is sexualisation of children and now babies. Paedophiles everywhere must love miley.
This is not pushing the envelope or being avant garde she’s disgusting.

  8. Eggland's worst says:

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: No publicity is bad publicity for these people. As long as people are talking about them, that’s all they care about. When people stop getting riled up by their antics, they’ll change course (or in the case of the Kardashians, hopefully go away).

    • mtngirl says:

For sure. We can all hope this is the last of Miley and the milky milk influence from Wayne Coyne. It’s too bad, because she has a good voice and the Coyne collaboration with her dead petz project is tired and uninspiring. Lay off the drugs Miley!

  9. D says:

Why did I click play? I regret this decision…

  10. Jolene says:

For God’s Sake MILEY STOP WITH THE DRUGS

  11. Jae says:

    Aw, it was funny.

  12. db says:

Ok, I kind of love this. It seems to be about a lover who infantilizes Miley–goo goo eyes, baby talk –and she’s not into it.

    • als says:

Yeah, if there’s a guy out there that saw this video and still doesn’t get how creepy baby talk is…he is a moron.
I find baby talk just disgusting. More disgusting than Miley and this video. And it goes for men and women that use it.
The baby talk and the cutesy nicknames…gross!
And then these creeps actually have babies of their own…gross!

      • db says:

Baby talk just creeps me out. I used to date a guy who used it, and I just couldn’t. Couldn’t do it. LOL. I reserve baby talk for actual babies and pets. Btw, Miley knows just what buttons to push to outrage people and miss the point. She’s working as hard as she can, that one.

    • Mgsota says:

I like the song…but she ruined it with the video. Too cringeworthy.

  13. Melibea says:

She’ll do anything for the Shock value and nothing else..this is very disturbing!

  14. L says:

I like Miley’s last two albums and I did go to her show in Boston. That being said I was a little “WTF” after seeing this video. I do like how she seems to bring the people she performs with into the video. The mommy lady in this video has preformed in all of her shows in an array of costumes. She seems to generally care about her dancers. I will keep watch this Miley sh*t show because it’s entertaining and I like her voice. I don’t agree with all the things she does but at least she keeps it fun. She’s like 22yrs old lol. Keep it coming gurllllll. That’s how much time I have on my hands. #nokids

  15. InvaderTak says:

Thanks for the recap, it was hilarious. But if I never knew this video existed I think I would be happier. She is disgusting and so is the video.

  16. kri says:

Thank you so much, CB. I need your physical address and real name so that I can send you all therapy bills. Is this some commentary on Mommy issues? Good lord.

  17. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

…so the black woman is her nanny/mammy? (I’m assuming, God hasn’t granted me the serenity yet to accept this bitch and watch the video)

Honestly, really and truly, I don’t even have an emotion to spare for her. That level of inner emptiness and desperation is just not worth the effort.

  18. Daria Morgendorffer says:

Ok, so she’s still trying to use black women as props.

How is she really still relevant though? Who is actually buying her albums or seeing this and saying that this is cool or good? She jumped the shark such a long time ago.

“F-ck me so I stop babytalking” says the woman wearing a diaper and rolling around with a giant baby bottle. This is super gross.

  19. perplexed says:

Her speaking voice was so annoying I couldn’t get through the whole song. I was surprised her singing wasn’t bad (was it technology-enhanced?). As for the visual imagery, I turned my head away — it was too weird for me.

  20. Kathryn says:

The song is about Patrick S. Listen carefully to the talking parts of the song.

  21. lisa says:

    “talented performance”

sorry no, the bar is just set really really low for her

  22. Jess says:

I would rather listen to every justin bieber album than listen to 30 seconds of this mess.

  23. Irene says:

    WTF did I just watch?

Is that really her speaking voice? She sounds like a 75 year old smoker.

Also, this is a terrible song.

  24. Sassy says:

So gross. And her speaking voice GRATES.

  25. serena says:

Guess I’m not surprised anymore? Everything she could ever do after humping, almost naked, whatever thing the first times, would not surprise me. I mean, of course this video is offensive, embarassing and stupid.. I don’t think she’s racist but she put out a ‘mammy’ because that’s a ‘shocker’ and she needs that -it seems- to go on. She would be so much better if she’d just stop with the dumb stunts.

The song is kinda awful too. I like her voice, she can really sing, but except for the chorus it’s all talking. Wtf??

  26. Whitney says:

This gives me a 90s music video vibe for some reason. Gonna have to disagree that “F*ck me so you stop baby talkin” is “kind of genius”. No shade to Celebitchy, I love this site, I just don’t see how there’s any musical merit there.

  27. Girlinbayou says:

Ok, I watched the video. First off, it sounds like she talks with a mouthful of marbles or at least with a giant retainer in. I’m like open your mouth girl and speak right! And then the other 90% of me says “aargh! Shut the hell up because this garbage is grossing me out”

The video is obviously a plea for some type of help. Yeah. I’m going with that.

    • SloaneY says:

I thought maybe she was drunk and having some kind of allergic reaction and her tongue was swollen after smoking 500 cigarettes in a row.

  28. Anonny says:

I hope he DOES keep baby talking to her just to piss her off, ha ha!

  29. Hotpockets says:

This is disgusting and represents everything that is wrong in the music industry. The entertainment industry loves sexualizing minors and now they’re trying to mainstream pedophilia? There is a difference between being provocative and then there is just using such disturbing imagery to desensitize the masses into believing that this is just “funny” and “playful.”‘ There is an agenda behind this kind of thing.

  30. SloaneY says:

Somewhere Liam is thanking every God known to any sect or religion that he is free of this.

  31. Eleonor says:

Am I the only one who’s not impressed with her Christmas performance ?
Seriously the world is full of girls and women (check on youtube) who sing like and even better than Miley’s, so please stop praising her for that.

  32. GlimmerBunny says:

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?! One of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen/heard.

  33. Bread and Circuses says:

The problem with Miley’s ‘drugs are awesome!’ credo is there are rather a lot of examples of extremely talented musicians who fell down that rabbit hole and never crawled out, or at least not with their career intact.

The video might be funny. I’m not going to watch it because it will also be gross and tiresome.

  34. a.d. says:

    i can’t. i just can’t…

  35. Asparagus says:

I do think she’s scarred by her years as a Disney icon…but while I can’t know what she feels like, I can but help think some of this is just pure marketing. I think she needs to take time out and try some introspection to get through her issues rather than putting out video after video after song after song about her hatred of her Hannah Montana years.

  36. Imp says:

She’s a racist hick im not watching it. Can’t leave that mammy shit alone can she? She’s part of the reason i won’t watch a very Murray Christmas. Screw that.

  37. Jessica says:

I don’t understand. If a guy is “baby talking” to you and you don’t like it… why don’t you leave, not have sex with him, and dump him if he’s your boyfriend? Why the “F*ck me so you stop baby talking”, why not just leave?

  38. Ayra. says:

She’s been getting less attention recently, let’s keep it that way.

  39. snowflake says:

This is the weirdest video I have ever seen.

  40. Decorative Item says:

Okay, I get it. So, she dated a guy that used baby talk and it skeeved her out. That’s completely normal, many women are skeeved out by that. But she is immature and truly doesn’t understand the dangers involved with the sexualisation of children/babies.
And yes, I understand Disney child exploitation, but what I’m referring to is the exploited children who have no name, face, or power. Two year olds who are raped to the point where their skeletal structure is mutilated so they can’t even walk. Children who are sold as sex slaves and disposed of when convenient because there is no one who would miss them if they disappeared. The real victims.
I don’t know why, but I do think she would care if she really understood, she just doesn’t get it. I’m forever hopefull that she just doesn’t get it anyway.

  41. Erica says:

I actually thought this was funny. I don’t like the ending with the mammy, but other than that I don’t see how this is actually sexualizing babies in any way. I think it would be sexualizing babies if she actually had any babies in it that were dressed sexually. This just makes me think of the fetish called Paraphilic infantilism (aka Adult baby syndrome). Which isn’t something I’m personally interested in, but I don’t have any problem with people doing their own thing. These were all adults in here.. no children of any kind that I saw. I understand how it might gross out people exactly like many people feel about this fetish, but I don’t think that it’s bad in any way. I don’t think she was actually talking about this fetish in any way either.. seems much more of an artistic expression of the main theme of the song of baby talk from a guy. Anyways, I also like Miley for the most part and am all for people’s sexuality, sensuality, and fetishes being all fine as long as they aren’t actually hurting someone in a non consensual way.
