Sixteen hours ago, I really didn’t think I would be naming Jaimie Alexander as one of my favorite people on the Golden Globes red carpet, but here we are. She absolutely was one of my favorites, and I think it’s because I’m a sucker for a bold graphic fabric. Jaimie wore this Genny gown with a fantastic emerald green print. She arrived early and posed her ass off, as I would have too in this gown. You could tell that she loved it and that made the dress even better. Plus, she didn’t shy away from accessorizing with emerald jewelry (love it), nor did she shy away from leaving her collar unadorned. I like that. Everything was on point here.
For about an hour during the red carpet show, I thought Eva Green was Krysten Ritter. That’s not an insult to either lady, but before last night, I never realized how they look alike. Especially now that Eva is doing her hair like this. Eva wore Elie Saab, which is utterly boring. She shouldn’t wear beige/nude either.
Sophia Bush in Narciso Rodriguez. CB said this was boring, and it sort of is in photos. It was prettier in motion, where it sort of had a sophisticated, minimalist vibe. I think it was a decent choice for a TV girl.
Here’s Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. She wore Zuhair Murad, a pretty if somewhat unremarkable dress. As soon as they hit the red carpet, people were just talking about Channing’s weird hair though.
Speaking of weird hair… Brad Pitt & Ryan Gosling didn’t walk the carpet, but word is that they were each other’s dates. They presented together and did a bit and it was funny. But I have a few questions. One, why was Brad so… “tight” looking? He seemed especially scrubbed and wrinkle-free. Also: why was Brad so orange and Ryan was such a lovely, normal color?

Yeah, what was up with the orange tinted look? Was it the cameras? Quite a few people looked liked glamorous Oompa loompas. Anyway, although Jamie bugs me to no end, she looked fantastic, best out of this bunch.

It’s too much. On a more general issue… If the purpose if a dress is to make a fashion statement or be edgy Or remarkable then Eva Green was a fail. If the purpose of a dress is to look good on the wearer and allow a stunning woman to stun – which I believe it is – then Eva’s dress did just that. Cate Blanchette’s dress was remarkable and presumably made some sort of a statement. And it looked bloody awful.
I agree, @Anne tommy. While I think red carpets the past few years have suffered from a saturation of Elie Saab, I would say that, assessed individually, all of the creations are almost all very beautiful and flattering.
Agreed – I really love Jenna’s and Jamie’s, but they are both just too open in the front (especially Jamie’s). A little more fabric and they’d be perfect.
I think Brad got some eye work done or something. He does look different.
ITA about the necklines — plunging all the way to the waist with the straps obviously taped down feels unnecessary for otherwise lovely gowns. A neckline can be a low cut V without having to go to one’s navel.

Brad’s hair was so bad plug looking, I didn’t even notice how orange he was. Ryan Gosling was, however, the funniest person of the night for me.

I love Jaimie and she is gorgeous, the dress is stunning but I can’t wait for necklines to get back to actually cover a bit more skin. (She can totally carry off any look with her incredible body, but why does a v-neck need to be so bloody low?) the earnings were amazing!
I loved Eva, thought she looked great. Jenna’s dress is beautiful, with the same caveat as Jaimie. She really is a gorgeous woman and I love rich bold jewel tones.
channing tatum is as unattractive as ever, it’s not like he looked better when his hair was styled differently. maybe people are finally waking up to the fact that while he’s super nice, he’s really not that good looking.

Charming Potatim isn’t ugly either tho. One day he looks like mess like here then the next he some hot again. Mostly when he’s back to work and loses all the weight. I dont get the attractive hype but He isn’t ugly. I do like him and his personality but he’s typical basic white male like Ryan gosling which i dont get either.
I think it has to do with him gaining weight. He’s one of those people that just looks really “puffy” when they gain 5 to 10 pounds. When he’s in shape, tanned, and has a good hair cut going, he’s not ugly at all in my opinion. But what do I know? I’ve never understood the hoopla over Brad Pitt.
I don’t find him attractive either. He seems nice, and his wife is pretty, but he doesn’t do it for me.

Ryan’s looking great. And he made the skit work. Brad Pitt seemed a bit uncomfortable, I think. I blame the hair and BAD spray tan.
and maybe because his Dr gave him a wee bit too much Botox. Pitt was suffering from the condition commonly called “Kidmanosis”. It was striking to see Ryan Gosling’s forehead actually wrinkle when he spoke compared to Pitts’ forehead which didn’t move.

Yes I could not stop comparing the two on stage. Like Brad’s faze was so frozen it was embarrassing! He couldn’t even close his mouth all the way. I’m sad, I hope he’s not headed for a mid life crisis! the hair and the face together we’re just too much.
Any dress that doesn’t show her beaver is an improvement for Jamie.

I think Jaimie Alexander looks great, though I’m not always a fan of dresses cut that low. I actually like Eva Green’s dress, even if it leans towards the boring side. And as much as I love Brad, last night was not his best look ever.
I am amazed anyone else agrees that Jaimie’s dress would have been just perfect if it had just provided a tad (3/4 inch) more fabric on each side of the neckline. Because you want one picture of solid gorgeousness, not to be thinking if she needs double sided tape or can get away without it. But otherwise she was absolutely gorgeous, as was Ryan Gosling. that man is getting better looking to me as he ages, a la Matt Damon!

And Channing’s hair is for his role as ‘Gambit’ in the Xmen spinoff. Yes he could have styled it slightly differently (maybe swept back?) But it’s for work and it’s not like he could change his haircut when he has to get back on set.

Green is my favorite color so I was loving Jaimie’s whole look. Simply gorgeous. I wish I could wear something like this but my boobs would be all over the place.

Eva Green is so striking and has such great colouring, she could carry off any dress in any colour, but she chose this? I know it’s almost sacrilege to say this about an Elie Saab, but that dress is dull.
The Golden Globes is usually fun, but this has been the dullest red carpet in ages. There’s not a single dress that I love, and only a few that I like.

So obvious Brad had a face lift or some major work done a couple months ago. I thought we covered this – his morphing into Robert Redford. I said so last night during his presentation at the awards and my husband yelled “yes! that’s it.” Dude has had plastic surgery. He looks weirdly not like himself anymore but more like he did in Benjamin Button. He looked better before he had it done. Should’ve just aged gracefully. Also, unimpressed with the vanity at issue. It’s bad enough when women do it, but I kind of understand b/c they don’t have very many roles for wrinky middle-aged women, but the men in Hollywood aren’t held to that same standard, so why?……

I thought Jaimie was one of the best dressed of the night. Though I don’t like how deep the neck is.
She’s got amazing skin. If you don’t like the deep neckline, look up her no neckline dress where you could see her privates from the side. One of the Thor premieres. I’m amazed she wasn’t arrested for indecent exposure.
Calling someone “a lovely, normal color” is a great reference to Bridget Jones’ Diary! Love that movie.

I loved Jamie’s dress and the entire look. Breathtaking. Definitely the best of the night, by far (there weren’t a lot of dresses I loved and a lot I hated). As for Brad, I thought he and Channing decided to see if they could bring back douchey hairdos from the 80s – they both look awful and Brad definitely looks plumped, shiny, and orange. Yuck.
I love Jamie’s and Jenna’s dresses as well (especially Jamie’s – I love the color) though I don’t know who either one is (especially Jamie, lol). Channing Tatum looks like he’s going for “movie star Hitler” with his hair style and facial hair.
This was not a good year for style at the Golden Globes. Hopefully it gets better as award season goes on.
Judging from pictures, Brad Pitt no longer has the sharp-as-diamond jaw line so he looks almost childlike from afar. Still better looking than Ryan Gosling with all his features sliding into each other at the center of his face.
