Lindsay Lohan’s amazing eHarmony profile video

I need to find one of the writers from Funny or Die and marry him. Or her. They’re so good I’m not even going to be choosy. And they must be manipulative as hell, because somehow they got Lindsay Lohan to star in a hilarious skit they wrote of her mock eHarmony profile. Part of why it’s funny is that it’s so true. It’s not like the Paris Hilton for president video where she joked about painting the While House pink or other funny yet implausible scenarios. In the Lohan video, everything she says about herself is completely true: like how she’s a shopaholic, a workaholic (okay maybe that’s a stretch), and “according to the State of California, an alcoholic.”

In a new Funny or Die video, Lindsay Lohan parodies those eHarmony ads and pokes fun at her new Us Weekly cover.

“Hi, My name is Lindsay, and I’m looking for love. I’m recently single … I think,” she says, referring to her recent split with Samantha Ronson. “I’m looking for someone I can spend the rest of my life with … or at least the rest of my probation.”

She says her potential mates need to be able to handle a “redhead with a little bit of sass, and by that I mean a redhead that’s crazy.” She then adds, “Don’t pretend like you don’t know me. We’ve all read about it.”

“Or, you could find me on the cover of Us Weekly,” she says as she flips through the latest issue, “because I’m so alone.”

[From Us Weekly]

That Lohan could actually pull herself together and make fun of her current situation gives me some hope for her. As SamHill mentioned, a lot of us are sort of waiting for her to “pull a Britney.” Not that we want that, but she’s just as self-destructive, and has a much worse support system. And while Lohan obviously didn’t write any of the skit, the ability to poke fun at herself makes me think she has a teeny, tiny bit more self-awareness than previously suspected.

Lindsay’s Us Weekly interview – which she references in the video – is part sad and part aggravating to read through. On the one hand, you do get the sense that everyone in her and Samantha’s life behaves like they’re all still in high school. Lohan and Ronson very much included. It does seem like all their friends have taken Ronson’s side. And whatever the reason, the combination of losing friends and a love all at once can be devastating, so I do feel badly for Lohan. On the other hand, she constantly uses the phrases, “it’s not fair,” and “none of this is my fault,” over and over again, and that gets annoying.

It’s not fair, and I wish I could find out what’s going on. It was scary for me. The worst part: I was so alone. I’m so alone. I was with my mom and my sister, but no one called, only two of my friends called. Everyone’s turned on me. No one called me, no one asked how I was. Samantha told me she would never break my heart or do anything to hurt me.

[From Us Weekly, April 20, 2009, print ed.]

Lohan needs to take a little responsibility for her part in what’s gone on. The article is so long that it’s impossible to go over everything, but the impression I walked away with is that there is way too much drama, and too much mean-spiritedness. Not so much in terms of Lohan and Ronson, but the situation they’ve but themselves in. It’s the combination of their families and friends, and people who are being too involved and too angry. This kind of vengeful anger doesn’t go anywhere, and I think more than anything Lindsay should get some space. Like she said in her video – she’s got over $400. Use it to buy a plane ticket and get the hell away from all that negativity.

I agree Jaybird – now is the time to exit stage left

  2. Lex says:

Ahh… like i posted earlier. Pure genious! I’m glad you picked up on the feed jaybird!

  3. happymom says:

I just find it pathetic-not funny. And the whole “victim” thing comes right from that fame whore mother of hers.

  4. Amoosed says:

Hats off to Lindsay – that is an excellent spoof 🙂 Kudos to her!

  5. Trey says:

Thought it was great but I caught a little too much “prompter-eye”. C’mon, you had like seven lines about your life and what keeping you from memorizing them?

  6. barneslr says:

I’ve always felt badly for her and for her sister. It’s like they were both doomed from the start. They really got screwed by having not one, but TWO, crappy parents.

That being said, I really think that LL has a lot of talent. If she could just get past her issues I think she could be a lot more than just this sad train wreck she’s become.

And I still don’t know why child protective services hasn’t rescued her underaged, minor sister from that disaster they call a mother.

  7. the original kate says:

god, she’s an attention whore. maybe instead of making unfunny videos she should go to rehab. dumb cow.

  8. Samantha says:

I’m glad she can poke fun at herself. Some people get offended when they realize everyone views them as a joke, so kudos to her for joining in on the fun. It doesn’t change my opinion of her, although it does make me love funnyordie just a little more.

  9. Ryo says:

I actually really want her to pull herself together. I liked her until she began to spin out of control. If Britney can do it Lindsay can do it.

  10. allison says:

this video is a great way for her to show that she can laugh at the bad things that have happened and move on, not take her self seriously, and get over bad things quickly. Bravo to her! This was definetly a good move.

  11. Ron says:

I thought this was hilarious. Good for her. Now get back to being a workaholic and get your life in order. This was a good start though 🙂

  12. heehee says:

Love it; Im nothing but rooting for her. I think largely sine I just had a nasty split, too– I know hw it fels and yes it can make you act loopy. 😛 She comes across as intelligent enough …I dont think shell have a meltdown. But we dont know if this is her ‘bottom’ or if she still has a bit farther to go before she is able to find a happier place

  13. Megan says:

    She’s so horribly thin.

  14. Bodhi says:

So she is all alone, but her mom & sister were with her. And no one called her, but two friends called her. She needs to get her story straight!

This victim bullshit is ridiculous! You can only play the “poor me” card for so long, then its time to get off your ass. Her refusal to accept any responsibility whatsoever is killing her career & any goodwill she built in the industry (whatever is left anyway)

Yeah, this is funny, its from funny or die. I wouldn’t call this a step to resuscitating her career, but at least it shows a mote of self-awareness

  15. Ling says:

I’m SURE I’m the only one who would notice this, but they used that same Natalie Cole song at the end of The Parent Trap. (Her version, obviously.) Which is bittersweet, because on the one hand you remember her adorableness and on the other, Natasha Richardson.

The video? Meh. I feel like this whole celebs making fun of themselves thing is so common it’s overplayed. (You know what’s not overplayed? Celebs making fun of other celebs in ways that appear mean-spirited. Imagine how much funnier that clip would have been if they’d given, say, Amanda Bynes a red wig and instructed her to deliver her lines in a smoker’s voice.)

  16. Paradiso says:

    LOL I loved it xD

  17. BLA says:

Ugh, she looks so nasty and worn out. She’s seen much, much better days.

  18. Jag says:

She won’t pull a Britney because she doesn’t seem to be bipolar. I do hope she gets herself together…

  19. Sauronsarmy says:

She just keeps embarrassing herself doesn’t she?

  20. neelyo says:

I said this when someone mentioned it in the earlier Lindsay post, so forgive those who have read it before:

I don’t understand the whole, ‘look I made a joke about myself, all is forgiven’ mentality. She’s an untalented drug addict who almost killed people because of her driving and because she can laugh about it, now she’s cool?

I think it’s kind of sick and wrong. And worst of all, it’s not that funny.

  21. Darlene says:

I love her video. I hope she rebounds. This makes me root for her.

  22. Hunter says:

I agree. The video wasn’t that funny. She kept repeating how popular with the tabloids she is as if its that the greatest accomplishment. Ugh. She’s still the same attention whore. She just used a different media vessel this time which I WILL give her a few claps for.

  23. Terrian says:

I guess Hunter, missed the part where the video is supposed to be a joke…

  24. Lisa says:

I actually almost like her again after that video.

  25. kelly says:

    I LOVE THIS GIRL

  26. Ophelia says:

She was great! Britney wouldn’t have been able to do this in her meltdown. I think she lost more though. But I don’t think LL is going to go that kind of crazy. Maybe overdose crazy though.

  27. Allie says:

The first step in getting help is to acknowledge there’s a problem. The fact she can laugh at herself, shows she’s not as lost as I thought she was. Being able to laugh about it, is a good thing!

  28. Persistent Cat says:

I too didn’t find this all that funny. She’s not that good at comedic timing and the whole thing just screamed “look at me, I’m making fun of myself, on purpose, how hilarious am I?” And I’m sure they didn’t have to convince her to do it, it’s not like she’s got any other work. This is just another way for her to keep herself on the internets.

  29. flourpot says:

    @Lisa. ditto.

  30. Casey says:

Actually, I never could stand her, but I think this was funny and good for her.

The sad part is, she has a horrible reputation, which is definitely deserved BUT, tabloids can print whatever they want now and it will be believed since her past makes it believable. IF she gets her act together, and learns from it, people should give her a break. she’s young and created her own mess, but everyone deserves a second chance if they’re willing to admit their mistakes and take steps to correct them.

  31. Lori says:

Lindz needs to laugh at herself…. and then go get some help. Couple days ago she was ranting about her freaky fans being the problem. She needs to hold on to all the fans she might have left.

  32. JaundiceMachine says:

I do feel bad for her – I found myself in a similar situation after a series of poor decisions on my part. But my mistakes were never exacerbated money-hungry enablers, nor covered by national media outlets. (Which she totally solicits, but I guess that’s neither here nor there.)

That being said, I smiled a bit at the video. I liked the concept and I thought the writing was clever . . . the only thing I wasn’t sold on was Lohan, herself.

Seriously, did they start filming just before or 47 minutes after her first line of coke? Her delivery is just so lukewarm . . . I don’t know if she was going for “deadpan” or what, but she comes across as “flat-line”.

  33. Granger says:

That video is pathetic and desperate. The interview in which she claimed to be devastated, hurt, alone and sad came out just a few days ago, and she expects me to believe that she’s able to laugh about it already? Not buying it. All I see is someone desperate for attention and publicity.

  34. MeowMeow says:

Love that she can poke fun at herself. Some people take themselves so seriously they’d never do it. Good for her.

  35. Abby says:

pretty funny, although her eyes look stoned scary.

  36. Jaclyn says:

Haha, this was awesome! Lindsay did a great job! She’s a good actress, wish she’d get her act together and make another hit movie already!

  37. Shelby says:

I don’t think this is particularly funny, either. She’s trashing any hope of salvaging her career by playing exclusively to the paps these days.
The only reason I have any sympathy left at all for this chick is because her parents are such losers. It can take decades for many young people to straighten themselves out after being raised by such f’d up twats, and some never do. Which will Lindsay be?

  38. Blondie says:

There are elements of the pre-drug, alcohol crazy partying actress Lindsay, but her eyes look completely f*cked, and it feels half hearted.

She needs a good meal & some clean living, but am still convinced is probably too late for her. She needs to quit the drugs.
