Tori Spelling denies she’s anorexic despite photographic evidence

Tori Spelling must think our eyes are bugging. The actress and author has been doing all sorts of press for her latest book, “Mommywood,” and has been the subject of a good deal of gossip regarding her weight. Back in 2007, Tori was a spokesperson for NutriSystem, and lost 22 pounds on the program. She’s since had daughter Stella, and lost the 40 lbs she put on during that pregnancy. But Tori seems to think it’s just a trick of the camera that’s making her look so emaciated. Oh, and let’s not forget that classic “too busy to eat” line.

Tori Spelling knows her slim figure has been the subject of rumors – and now the mom of two addresses speculation that she’s battling an eating disorder. “Oh my God, I’m not anorexic,” Spelling tells PEOPLE in a new interview. “I acknowledge that I look thin in photos. I get it.”

Spelling, 35, also says that she is thin enough having lost 40 pounds since giving birth to daughter Stella last year. “Obviously I don’t want to lose any more weight, ” she says. “But people haven’t seen me not pregnant in two and a half years. I’m eating healthy, I just have a crazy lifestyle.”

“I’m so blessed to have as many jobs that I have, but I do agree that there needs to be some downtime,” she says of her hectic schedule that can leave little time for proper meals… I’m the first to admit that sometimes I don’t have the time to sit down for a well-balanced meal,” she tells PEOPLE. “Usually like you kind of just finish whatever your child doesn’t eat. I’m like, ‘Cool, you have a few pieces of hot dog left and one broccoli floret and a fry, I’ll take it.’ ”

“I want to be a positive role-model for my daughter,” she says. “The last thing I want to put out there is that it’s acceptable to be too thin or have an eating disorder because you’re in Hollywood. I have two kids that I need to be healthy for because they need their mom.”

[From People]

Tori is saying all the right things, but I’m not sure I buy it. She’s acknowledging that she looks too thin, then giving a reason that’s plausible but not indicative of a mental health issue. Then talking about being a good role model/parent. It’s all exactly what a PR rep would tell you to say. And she’s not being at all obnoxious about any of it, so I don’t want to be rude towards her. But she is looking incredibly thin lately, and it seems logical that it’s more than just being busy. I mean the woman can probably afford help; I’d think she’d be able to schedule in a regular sandwich, need be.

I’m not a mom so I don’t want to underestimate the amount of effort and time that goes into taking care of two kids and working, but it just seems to me like feeding yourself is one of those basic needs that doesn’t go ignored consistently. I’m sure there’s times here and there were all moms are too busy to eat. But it would have to be fairly frequent to explain the weight loss in Tori’s case. And she noted in her book that her mom criticized everything about her when she was growing up – her appearance and weight were no exceptions. I can’t help but worry she might be anorexic as a result.

If nothing else, she’s clearly not eating right. A few pieces of hotdog and a French fry are not enough to keep anyone going, let alone a busy mom. If her explanation is true, then it’s time to hire a cook.

She’s obviously pretty conscious that everyone thinks she has a problem, thus the loose tent dresses she’s been wearing on the book tour…

I think she’s under a lot of self-applied pressure to be sucessful these days. She’s pretty much taking every job her agent can sniff out…The resulting business added to the everyday pressure to be thin is a dangerous combination.

I think if Candy put her back in her will (or put her in for the first time…) she’d cool it with all the random projects and have more time to eat.

I don’t think she’d be working so hard if it weren’t for that fame hungry husband of hers. And she probably doesn’t trust him. I think she lost the weight so quickly because she was afraid of losing him.

  3. bros says:

she still looks lumpy and disfigured in everything she wears-she is one of the oddest looking people ever. she isnt toned at all-she is just skinny with a humongous head that gets even more cartoonish with every pound she loses, and those terrible sacks she calls boobs stay sagging around contributing to the caricature.

Aerosmith was right!!!! Dude looks like a lady

  5. Boom says:

Tori, please stay away from any jockeys, they might try to ride you

  6. waaaahh says:

    extremely thin = attention
    she knows that
    and look! it worked!

  7. Exiled says:

Doesn’t anyone remember, she was a size 0 on the original 90210? Enough about the horse jokes, I’m sure you are all just smoking hot right? She obviously has self esteem issues… give it a rest.

  8. Jenna says:

I honestly can’t remember what she looked like before she was pregnant the first time. But I doubt she was this thin.

  9. SolitaryAngel says:

@ bros: EXACTAMUNDO, my friend! I’ve been thinking that same thing–her head just keeps looking huge, her eyes are popping out and don’t get me started on the silicon…ewwwww. I just don’t get her at all. Poor thing.

  10. Larissa says:

I was a size 0 too, in my early 20´s! Not in a very healthy way, but not starving myself either, just controlling everything I putted in my mouth…lol and it was sooo easy to keep up! Now it all just seems a distant memory…especially after having kids!!!!
As for Tori, she looked healthy back in the day…now she looks, WRONG!
An extra 10 pounds wouldn´t hurt!

  11. heehee says:

Maybe she just wants more press for her books this way.
I mean its an extreme way to get it, but if she really wants the money I reckon its not impossible.
That and she def has some very difficult issues she is dealing wit now, which could push her into it

  12. Prissa says:

I agree with waaaahh. I think a lot of these celebrities (when they want that EXTRA ATTENTION & PUBLICITY) get thin very quickly get the cameras turned their way. I don’t think she’s anorexic because that is not something that develops overnight or over a few months. She’s promoting her book, her show so she’s got to have something to make people look.

    Exiled –

She put herself in the publics eye so she should expect comments like ooo, idk…

    “U sure is uuugllyyyyyyyyy”

    for example

  14. ! says:

I fully believe she would starve herself just for the attention.

  15. paranel says:

I hate to say this , really I do but Tory is not an attractive woman. I think because of that, she has image issues. Thin is good but thinner is not better. She looks really bad.

  16. Jacks says:

Eating disorders are typically caused by the need or desire to control, usually when you feel like there are too many things in your life you cannot control. It would make complete sense that she has had some sort of eating disorder her entire life given the various circumstances, especially now with 2 kids, books to promote, a reality TV show, etc. It’s not about looking thin, it’s about being able to control something, anything in your life. It’s truly sad and I hope that if she is feeling this way, she can start to recognize it and do something. Eating disorders aren’t usually caused by vanity and sometimes the general public is way too harsh in commenting on these disorders. We have to remind ourselves that, as easy as it would seem to be rich and famous, we can’t really know until we’ve walked in those shoes. We all have struggles and we shouldn’t judge “who has it harder” because, as we all know, the grass is always greener on the other side.

  17. cherryblossom says:

Uh huh, you can tell that someone is anorexic just from looking at them. *end sarcasm*
I wouldn’t put it past a Spelling to gain attention by any means, she used to be very slim before kids.
But, from my experience, it’s usually that you GAIN eating like that, you know, because then you see a box of cookies and lose control.

  18. Cate says:

I hate to say it, but Tori Spelling is a butterface. The shape of her face bothers me, it’s the exact same shape as Rumer Willis’.

  19. Mindy says:

A suggestion, after seeing a portion of her “reality” show, and her guest stint on Today…she is not attractive but sickly looking…way too thin, and the thin is on purpose, no matter what she is saying PR-wise. Also, what is with the dork husband? He always looks dirty, like he needs a good shampoo and bath. Why doesn’t the guy get a hair cut and shave? He looks grubby. His personality is so immature, but maybe that is Hollywood. While we are on hair, Tori’s handlers should cut hers too…or she should wear it in a different style; the stringy, straight,”I can’t move because my hair is positioned over my right shoulder” style is bizarre.

  20. Shakes says:

JayBird: Your article was fair and kind. That’s refreshing. You mentioned that you weren’t a mom, so you were unfamiliar with the energy demand of kids…..Let me tell you as a mom, a working mom: There are times when I do forget to eat or I grab a handful of crackers as a meal. But that’s the exception. A turkey sandwich isn’t hard to make. You don’t forget to eat THAT much. Children are time consuming but not to the point of death. That’s why so many people have them. They’re actually fun and are supposed to enhance your life, not starve it. She’s so skinny, I can barely stand to look at her. In any case, I ASSURE you being a very busy, working mom is not the reason to look like Karen Carpenter. It’s very sad.
