Star: Taylor Swift is a ‘total nightmare’ diva to staffers on her two private planes

tay1

I think I knew at some point that Taylor Swift has her own private plane. But did you know she has TWO private planes? That’s what Star Magazine claims, and now that I’m thinking about it… it wouldn’t surprise me. I’ll side-eye Swifty about a lot of things, but I like how she spends her millions: amazing real estate, private planes and cat toys. Anyway, Star Mag says Tay-Tay is a major diva when she flies, only her “insane” demands really don’t sound all that mega?

Taylor Swift has a high-altitude attitude. Swift, who owns TWO private jets, is said to be a “total nightmare” when she’s flying, and a source tells Star her demands are insane.

“Taylor seems to make demands just for the sake of it,” dishes a well-connected source. “She insists her napkins and forks are at perfect 90-degree angles, one inch from the plate. The staff will do everything they can to ensure they have the exact foods she’s requested, but then she’ll change her mind after takeoff and it’s too late.”

The source notes that Swift outfitted her aircraft with cashmere seat covers and a massage table. The insider claims she’s also been known to take her frustrations out on the staff, but Taylor’s rep insists otherwise, stating: “This is untrue. Taylor is very respectful to everyone and loves the people she works with.”

If I own the plane, of course I want my favorite foods to be served on said plane. And I’m going to want the staff to do things my way too. Of course I rolled my eyes at “napkins and forks are at perfect 90-degree angles,” because seriously, what is this? Is the Pope flying on Swifty’s plane? No. And I don’t exactly see the point of cashmere seat covers considering her cats really do fly with her often enough, and cat hair + cashmere = no bueno. I hope her planes keep lint rollers handy.

Meanwhile, did you hear that Swifty is going to have her own mobile game, just like Kim Kardashian and Katy Perry? She’s even using the same company, Glu Mobile. Kim’s game was/is wildly successful and one of the most profitable mobile games in the past few years. Kim worked out a great deal with Glu Mobile too, so she’s seeing crazy money from the success of her game. Katy’s game, Katy Perry Pop, on the other hand… well, it didn’t do so well. The Glu Mobile CFO even called it one of the company’s “biggest disappointments.” So… of course Tay-Tay went to the same company. Swifty to the rescue! She will save Glu Mobile AND one-up Katy Perry. You can read more about the deal here.

I think Taylor’s a ruthless business woman, and I can understand the “mean” vibes in relation to her competitors, but she doesn’t strike me as the crazy diva kind who’d disrespect a staff member just for the lols.

And anyway, Star = celeb fanfic.

    • LadyMTL says:

ITA, and I’m not a big Taylor Swift apologist. She’s never struck me as the type to scream at people or disrespect them just because of the “don’t you know who I am?” factor.

Heck, if I had a private plane (or two) I know I’d want my favorite foods to be served, and I’d probably have a freaking library installed on board, lol.

    • Lizzie McGuire says:

Yeah. she has never struck me as someone who would yelled at her staff. Plus her dancers love working with her, & she found out thru them that Katy Perry wanted them to join her tour. No one would be that loyal to someone who yells & disrespects them.

      • Allie says:

@Lizzie McGuire Actually, her back up dancers wanted to work with Katy Perry instead because they thought she was more fun and treated her better (not saying Taylor treats them bad). They quit on her to go back to Katy. So really, she doesn’t necessarily have the dancers loyalty.

“And anyway, Star = celeb fanfic.”

Yep. And they especially like to write spitefic about women. I think Taylor Swift probably is a pain to work for, but this is silliness. Oh no she wants to eat food she likes! She should just swallow whatever other people want to feed her like a good little woman.

  2. Allie says:

I would totally put a massage table in my private plane too. That said, I wouldn’t use the word diva to describe Taylor, but I bet she has an incredible ego and I wouldn’t be able to work for her and have to kiss her butt 24/7.

I don’t understand her making this game though. She doesn’t need the money, and it just makes her look cheap. I hate singers/actors that have to make themselves into a product instead of just letting their music/acting stand for themselves. But I guess that’s the point, Taylor’s music couldn’t stand for itself, without her ex boyfriend/squad gimmicks.

    • Fran says:

But the thing about Taylor is: she’s all about the money. She can BFF as many celebs as she wants and send presents to her fans, but it all comes down to the dollar with her. So if making some dumb game will get her more money, she’s in.

    • Josefina says:

Taylor isn’t a singer, though. She’s a pop star. She’s a brand, and as such, she sells lots of products.

  3. Jess says:

Did you hear about the intruder at her LA house? That’s totally scary

  4. Micki says:

And I feel like an exeptionally high maintanance after reading this crap.
Private plane is not a Mcdonald’s. What’s the point of having one if “everything goes?”

  5. Crumpet says:

I love her for wearing that awful sweater a fan knitted her. That is all.

  6. CornyBlue says:

It is pretty wel known that Taylor treats her staff incredibly well giving them bonuses equalling almost a year’s salary.

  7. Murphy says:

I bet the 90 degree angle stuff was just from an etiquette book about how to set a table that was given to them as a guide and they decided to make a big deal about it.

    • Pippa says:

Yeah I mean I worked at a catering company all through university and we were told to serve everyone like this so I’m not really seeing the shock here? If the plane staff are trained in silver service (which I mean it’s a private plane so I’m assuming they would be) then this would just be pretty natural to them.

  8. Lala says:

I’m not buying this. She’s way too image conscious and too big a control freak for this to be true.

  9. MoochieMom says:

By virtue of my husband’s job, we get to use a private plane. Everything is logged, and expensed, and billed to us for personal vs business expenses. It’s highly legit and audited. My kid poops and we pay for it. I fell over laughing at the first bill for a kid poop. He poops, no charge. I can’t imagine you can just have a plane with no rules. That is beyond my comprehension. As far as I know there are logs on every, single thing on a plane, down to occupants meal requests (chicken nuggets was a nightmare – they wanted to know the brand – she is four!), and “disposal fees” (cleaning the bathroom).

I get she might be a diva but didn’t you know that signing up for Swifty’s plane? The things execs asks for are insane. I can’t imagine what TSwfit could ask for.

    • MoochieMom says:

ETA: also former asst for a CEO with a plane. OMFG the insanity. I quit after he had me interview “girls” for the plane.

    • Ally8 says:

This was really interesting, thanks! How embarrassing to have everything logged like that.

  10. Hollz says:

I really doubt she has two private planes. (Unless one of them is a tiny recreational plane, which is doubtful)

Why do I doubt this? Because private planes are ridiculously expensive, even for millionaires. It’s not just the planes she’d be paying for, but hanger space, fuel, staff, licensing, etc.
I use to work in travel (for a certain exclusive credit card) and spent my days booking travel for extremely wealthy people. Their are people who claim to have private planes but actually have purchased the equivalent of a time share private plane, which still costs them millions a year. I’m not saying that’s what Swifty has done, just that I don’t think she has two planes. One, absolutely. Two, nah.

  11. Lucy2 says:

It’s Star, so this is probably completely false.
That said, if I owned a private plane and traveled as much as she does, I would want it to be as comfortable and well stocked as could be too.

  12. Allie May says:

If this is true with napkins and utensils at a perfect 90 degree angle, it could be a symptom of mild OCD. Not a fault that can be easily rectified. I would cut her some slack on this.

  13. QuietDan says:

Taylor Swift herself does not own two planes. She, her family, crew and organization have access to two planes through the family held corporation S A T A, LLC, (which is thought to mean Scott, Andrea, Taylor and Austin). The first aircraft is a Dessault Falcon 900 trijet with intercontinental range and around 13 seats. The second aircraft is a smaller Dessault Falcon 50 trijet, seating around nine. She also has a huge aircraft hangar / warehouse at the Nashville International Airport. This all makes perfect sense for entertainer Taylor and her family and business. She needs the aircraft to make her concert connections while resting up for the next gig. It’s the modern equivalent to the tour bus, a tour bus on “Eleven.” The Falcon 900 is pretty nice, but not over the top. It has brown leather seats, and the headrests are embossed with her lucky number 13. It all looks very NOT diva.

  14. Holmes says:

This is a strange story from Star. None of this would be exceptional for a commercial first class flight, let alone a private jet. Unless her entire staff is totally green, which is doubtful, none of them should find any of this exceptionally diva-ish or out of the ordinary.

  15. Catharine says:

I do not believe a word of this. I have seen her in many interviews with Ellen and they are good friends. She is very kind to her fans. Saw another interview when she was in Australia on tour and she explained how she handles situations. Unless you have met her I do not believe gossip. She is very generous with her money which she makes a lot of. You also have to consider the pressure she is under too and she needs to vent just like everyone.
