Alison Brie: ‘Marriage never really interested me… I just met that person’

How To Be Single - UK film premiere
These are photos of Alison Brie at yesterday’s London premiere of How To Be Single. Her dress is David Koma and it’s sexy but the design leaves something to be desired. In the close up photos you can see that the stitching along the front is a thin leather rope woven through but from father away it looks messy and unfinished. Brie has such a versatile look and her styling is great but there’s something cheap looking about this dress.

Yahoo! Health has a new interview with Brie and she comes off very well. They also have a photoshoot with her in winged eyeliner and with a 60s style, similar to her character on Mad Men. She looks incredible. You can see Yahoo’s slideshow here, and some quotes from their full piece are below. Brie is engaged to Dave Franco, they’ve been together about three years, and she talks a little bit about how much he means to her, and how they stay under the radar. You can tell she wants to gush about him but is holding back a little. Oh and she bought what could be her wedding dress on Net a Porter, but she doesn’t say who designed it. They definitely have some gorgeous designer wedding gowns.

On how she learned about comedy while working on Community
I think because Community had such a cult following and so many comedic actors and writers coming through, it was a great time to meet a lot of people and learn about that side of the business. And it carried this incredible weight. Because Dan Harmon is such an incredible writer.

On working with her fiance, Dave Franco, in The Disaster Artist
I’ve never been more comfortable on a set, obviously. It was nice because you had your person to hang out with. We spend a lot of time apart because of work, and it was nice to say, ‘Oh, my gosh, I’m leaving for work … and I’ll see you in an hour!’

On how they avoid paparazzi
We don’t go out of our way, we just don’t flaunt it.

She met Franco at Mardi Gras in New Orleans
People were like, ‘So you’re … the ones it works out for.’ I don’t think I’d recommend it normally; it’s sort of outside of both of our characters.

On her wedding plans
I’m not very bridal, instinctually. Marriage never really interested me, I guess because I was very focused on my work. I wasn’t sure if I really saw the point to it. I bought a dress on Net-a-Porter, and I’m like, ‘Maybe I’ll wear that.’

Why she decided to get married
I just met that person that I was like, ‘Well, I’m really in love with you and would like to grow old with you.’ I actually think it’s much more romantic when two people are like, ‘Oh, I could go either way on marriage, but I want to marry you.’

[From Yahoo]

These two are so cute together, I want them to get married and have babies (if they want them!) and never go on pap strolls or out to eat at the Ivy or Mr. Chow. They seem to know how to avoid all that. Listen to what Brie said about how they avoid getting papped “We don’t go out of our way, we just don’t flaunt it.” She subtly threw a lot of shade with that comment.

Liz Hurley did that dress better!

    • tegteg says:

OMG I was JUST going to say this reminded me of a discount version of Hurley’s iconic Versace dress! 🙂

Allison has been looking good lately styling-wise, but I swear she’s done some tweeking or something. I like her and Dave as a couple.

      • GlimmerBunny says:

Yeah, something in her face looks different than she did in Mad Men, but I can’t figure out what it is. She’s still very beautiful though.

      • Detritus says:

I think maybe she got a stylist and makeup artist? Recently(not so recently) she started switching up from her old single style of makeup to more adventurous looks.

This dress would look so much better as a single piece with no lacing. She can have the black leather as trim if she can’t do without it.

      • Tania says:

She had a nose job. The tip of her nose was slightly more bulbous. It’s a shame really. Now she looks more like a model as opposed to an actress.

      • Wiffie says:

I look and look in that first photo for the girl on community and I cannot see it. Chin implant too?

  2. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I loathe that dress. Just hate it. It’s like she’s wearing a bad idea with no effort to make a dress out of it.

“I don’t care one way or another, but I want to marry you. But not in that dress.”

  3. Erinn says:

When the heck did this happen? How long have they been engaged?

I love Dave. He just seems like such a genuinely happy, laid back guy.

I’m also kind of intrigued with the idea of the Disaster Artist. I’ve been forced to watch so many Wisseau related things… and he’s just so so strange. And the fact that so little is known about where he came from, or how he got the money to fund The Room, and stuff like that. The whole thing is weird. Apparently they’ve figured out that he’s from Poland, but that’s all I’ve heard so far.

  4. tracking says:

They’re a cute, talented couple, but the paps are hardly in hot pursuit of them either. I loved her on Mad Men but man this is a thirsty dress.

    • Lucy2 says:

That’s what I was thinking, neither is a huge star that would warrant paparazzi chasing them down the street. She’s fairly popular and may get some attention, but it’s a totally different ballgame than some of the celebrities who are pursued by the tabloids constantly.

    • Maria T. says:

Well, yes, but Hillary Duff and Kaley Cuoco aren’t exactly fascinating people either. And how many pics do I see of Hillary Duff walking to her car? If they wanted paparazzi attention, they’d get it.

      • Esther says:

        thats a good point.

      • Josefina says:

Yup. If D-list reality stars are papped walking their dogs, so could they. And there are a lot of A-listers (Hugh Jackman, Christian Bale) who are rarely papped, which makes me believe these paparazi ordeals depend on the celeb’s will more than anything.

  5. Adrien says:

    Dave Franco is so adorable.

  6. Nancy says:

Liz Hurley called and wants her dress back.

  7. ell says:

    “On how they avoid paparazzi

thank you, alison brie. next time a celeb complains of being followed by paps, let’s remember this.

on a different note, this dress is appalling.

  8. Sarah01 says:

They make a cute couple and wish them luck. I think she’s right about marriage it should happen when you feel you’ve met the right person. A lot of people do it as almost a right of passage and I glad that slowly people are realizing it’s not, same with having children.
weddings have become this whole “show” and Bridezilla is running it, rather than about two people committing to a union. All you need is your loved ones, great food, music and a nice place. once you’ve got a theme it all snowballs from there.
Ive attended weddings where it was lavish and extravagant and believe me it’s not bought any measure of happiness to the couples.

    • Scarlet Vixen says:

I’m absolutely mortified to admit this now, but here’s why I got married the first time: I was 24, so many of my friends were getting married & having babies, and I was just dating a guy & having fun. Then one day my older sister calls and says, “Hey! I’m getting married (for the 3rd time)! You know what?! You & C should totally get married, too! OMG We should have a double wedding!” And I thought…Huh, maybe I SHOULD get married…So we did (well, not the double wedding part). Less than 6mos after the wedding I found out he was lying about money, but I was too embarassed to admit I’d made a mistake, so we stayed married-and had a kid-for almost 6yrs before I couldn’t do it anymore. My sister’s marriage lasted 13mos & she’s now married to #4 (I can’t even keep track of how many times she’s been engaged).

So yeah…get married–don’t get married. But do it for the RIGHT reasons.

    • Anne tommy says:

      Totally agree Sarah01

  9. Farhi says:

    “On how they avoid paparazzi
We don’t go out of our way, we just don’t flaunt it.”

This rubs me the wrong way.
I don’t believe that every celebrity who gets photographed by paps “flaunted” it.

I don’t know who she is but at first impression I don’t like her but like the guy.

    • Patricia says:

Oh you should check out her work! She’s a lot of fun.
She’s very bright eyed and sweet, but able to play slightly-crazy or off the wall in a very understated way. I think she’s quite talented. She was great in Mad Men and I really love her in Community.

      • lucy2 says:

I like her a lot on screen, she was good on both shows, but try as I have, off screen there’s something about her I don’t click with. I’ve listened to a bunch of long interviews with her, and always leave wishing I liked her more, if that makes any sense.

    • Sofia says:

I feel her answer can come across as unfair. The problem is that many celebs do the pap walks and make sure they are not forgotten so that we assume that’s the only way to someone get papped.

It seems to me the “right” answer is a mix of luck by not catching the media/audience attention and not engaging too much with the celebrity approach, in a way, not celebrating the celebrity status. But if someone becomes really a sort of fenomena because of their looks/personality/success… well… they don’t need to flaunt anything to be a thing.

  10. Josefina says:

The dress looks cheap, tacky and flattens out her great body. Horrible.

  11. minx says:

Aw, I miss seeing Pete and Trudy Campbell.

    • Patricia says:

Remember when she threw the chicken out the window? Hahahaha Pete and Trudy, destined for failure.

      • Apsutter says:

I think once Pete actually removed his head from his *ss and got past some of his personal demons they were actually a sweet couple. I loved Trudy, what a bad*ss b*tch. Strong woman who didn’t take any of his crap

  12. Lucy says:

Dave is my favorite thing about James Franco.

  13. Murphy says:

I love Trudy, she was my favorite character on Mad Men.

But even in the strongest days of mad men I very highly doubt any paparazzi were following her.

  14. Caela says:

Love her, hate that dress! She is much better than that 🙁

  15. Micki says:

She wasn’t sure she sees the point of marriage or if she wants it for herself but she BOUGHT a dress?!?!
    Really?

    • Sarah says:

      Wha?
She didnt used to be interested in marriage but then met someone she wanted to marry so she is getting married. They’ve been engaged a while and she bought a dress. Not sure what you don’t understand there….?

  16. JLo says:

I’m not sure I could stomach James Franco as a brother-in-law.
