Justin Timberlake brings the 90s back with BBD’s Poison and The Carlton

2015 GLSEN Respect Awards - Arrivals

Are you missing the 90s? Well, if you are, let Justin Timberlake take you back to the days of grunge, baby doll dresses and hair scrunchies. Last week, a video of Justin and his backup singers performing Bell Biv Devoe’s hit Poison went viral. The video was shot back in 2013, during Justin’s 20/20 Experience tour. The video was posted on BBD’s Facebook page for #tbt and has been viewed over 17 million times already. Never trust a big butt and a smile, but trust that Justin knows how to put on a hell of a show.

In addition to knocking ’em dead with a little BBD, Justin also entertained the crowds at golf’s Pebble Beach Pro-Am this past weekend. Justin did what I know all of you would do if you had the chance and Alfonso Ribeiro just happened to be there. Yes, Justin and Alfonso took a little golf break and did the dance that we all know and love from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, The Carlton (sadly, without musical accompaniment from Tom Jones, but I’ll let it slide this time.) The duo did better dancing than they did in the tournament, as neither one scored a prize. Do they give participation trophies at these things? But hey, anything is better than watching people play golf, right? After the tournament, the guys joked with the sports commentators for the event. While watching a playback of the dance, Justin said “We didn’t even plan that, wow!” Alfonso added, “We look good, though! You do a good Carlton.” See for yourself below!

For those of you who miss JT, who has been spending some quality time with wife Jessica Biel and son Silas, check out the acoustic performance of Drink You Away that he also performed at Pebble Beach. I, for one, hope he brings the funny back by hosting SNL again. For a singer, he’s a pretty good comedian. And anyone who can knock out such an enthusiastic cover of Poison has earned my respect. Bravo, sir.

He’s not a good comedian. Reading someone else’s lines doesn’t make him a comedian. He has good comedic timing, nothing else. Also, he’s not one of those people who look better with age. Did he have a nose job?

What in God’s name is Jessica wearig in the last picture?

    • HH says:

Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine?!

Justin is definitely looking older, but not terribly, IMO. I just think it looks more drastic on hi m because he had such a ‘baby face’ for a long time.

    • JKL says:

Right? He has gotten so odd looking with age.

    • lilacflowers says:

Jessica is wearing her US Nationals Figure Skating costume.

      @ Locke
I’m tired of ppl giving him a pass as well. He always try to make black cultural connections but he needs those receipts before I can pay him any mind. He has using that gimmick long enough and reaping the rewards.

      • Goo says:

“he needs those receipts before I can pay him any mind. “….. Seriously? I don’t think he needs your or, anyone else’s approval.

  2. PsychoCat says:

    He’s morphing into a hobbit!

  3. LAK says:

Love BBD’s poison. That was a good rendition. I wish JT would stick to music. He’s pretty good at it.

    Carlton 4EVAH!!!

  4. Alex says:

He performed Poison on the stop that I was at on his tour and it was fantastic (as was the rest of the show). Dude is a performer and a great one full stop. No negatives here…also his son is adorable

  5. JKL says:

He is such an attention whore. Can’t let anyone else have a moment in the sun.

  6. Nev says:

    No respect from me.
Why couldn’t Carlton just do Carlton?!!!!
Ewwww Justin is highly annoying and I won’t let go of my Janet Jackson grudge. Sorry. Nope.

  7. Malificent says:

Weren’t scrunchies the 80s? And, for me at least, the 90s were not baby doll dresses. I still had an hourglass figure back then, so it was the decade of the vintage 50s cocktail dress. Alas, now I am in the eternal millenium of the Empire waist….

    • Wiffie says:

My friends and I rocked scrunchies well into 98, and every dress in the Delia’s catalog was an empire waist baby doll dress! I love the 90s.

Going against popular opinion when I think JT seems like a really fun dude to hang out with. *shrugs*

      • Wiffie says:

I wanted to add, I feel like now is totally the era of the natural waist line. I couldn’t find am empire waist if you paid me! Trying to find non maternity pregnancy clothes for early and after baby was basically impossible because EVERYTHING falls at the natural waist line. It thoroughly annoyed me!

  8. Colette says:

This guy is SO overrated. He is a good singer,an average dancer and a mediocre actor.

  9. nicegirl says:

This makes me so so happy. Whenever I am super depressed I watch JT & Fallon’s History of Rap, but I’ve seen Bel Biv Devoe in concert and this JT Poison cover is now my new jam.

  10. OrangeCrush says:

Why do his eyes look crazy in every single picture? Even the one where he’s laughing in the tux, his eyes are like serial killer eyes.
