Hugh Jackman plays Catchphrase, gets a little naughty: hilarious or dumb?

Chicago screening of 'Eddie the Eagle' - Arrivals
Hugh Jackman is doing the publicity circuit for his new movie, Eddie The Eagle, which is the true story of a British skijumper in the 1988 Olympics, played by Taron Egerton, 26. Hugh plays the coach with a drinking problem. On The Tonight Show earlier this week, Hugh made a joint appearance with Taron. You get the sense that Hugh could do all the publicity on his own but that he wants to help Taron and that’s sweet. The two did a bit where Hugh tried to pronounce the insane name of the Welsh town where Taron grew up. It’s called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch, it’s a real place, and Hugh and Taron previously talked about it on Ellen earlier this month. Hugh also said he got to ride in an F16, a rare two seater F16, and that it was thrilling and terrifying. (You can watch that video of their interview below, it’s at the bottom.)

Of course everyone is talking about Hugh’s turn on Catchphrase with Taron, Fallon and Tonight Show announcer, Steve Higgins. Hugh was charming and a little naughty. This looks like so much fun. We’re going on a family vacation for Easter next month and we’ve already downloaded an app to play this. Anyway Hugh’s clue was “Go with The Flow” so he mimed peeing and Taron was like “what?! orgasm?” That video is below and it will make you laugh. The part we’re talking about is at 4:10.

And because we’re talking about Hugh Jackman there are no shortage of stories of him being awesome, Hugh and Taron visited two schools together, SLAMM Charter School in Miami and also Oakland Tech High School in Oakland, where Hugh coached high school students along with Marshawn Lynch, a former running back for the NFL. This is how you do movie promotion.

Oh and in other interviews, Taron said that he had the chance to meet the man he plays, Eddie Edwards, and that it was such a treat as an actor. This looks like a cute movie, and one I can take my tween to (which are increasingly hard to find) so I think I’ll see it in theater. It’s out this week!

In other news, Hall and Oates are touring again!

I truly think Hugh is one of the best. All around. Talent and a kind heart.

So true. I have news cameraman friends who have all said he is hands down the nicest and most genuine famous person they’ve ever met / interacted with. For example, at a junket with multiple crews, he went around and introduced himself to every single person, no matter how minor they were. He was happy and professional for every interview. As each crew left he made sure to say goodbye to them and remembered everyone’s name. Another time a publicist was going apeshit saying they couldn’t have more from him and Deb. Hugh calmly asked the publicist to calm down and go inside and have a beer and then asked the crew what they needed. He and Deb did every shot asked of them on a high balcony in NYC winter graciously and happily. Awesome couple!

Just imagine him and Dave Grohl ever working together on some acting/music fusion project, and promoting it everywhere. Imagine all that kindness.

Hugh just stands above the rest. Talent, professionalism, great positive attitude. And so damn handsome.

He can sample my Farmers Bounty any time.

Like Hugh, but I can’t STAND Fallon. He’s such a kiss-ass to celebs – and just uses the same tired bits over and over. I actually tend to feel second hand embarrassment while watching him, and there’s far too many stories of him being a messy jerk for at least some of it not to be true.

Swoon. I feel like we read about so many garbage people on this site that it’s always great to read about lovely Hugh for a change.

I truly adore Hugh Jackman. He’s one of the few actors that comes across as genuinely humble. And rooting for Taron to make it big. He was great in Kingsman and managed to hold his own on screen with Colin Forth.
