Gwen Stefani, one of my idols of life, is on the talk show circuit, promoting her upcoming album, This Is What the Truth Feels Like. Gwen was on the Ellen show Thursday. Ellen kicked off the interview by talking to Gwen about the awesome live video for “Make Me Like You” (still on repeat on my iPod) that she shot during the Grammy ceremony. (Ellen said that a lot of people just thought it was an ad for Target.) Gwen called the video shoot a “surreal moment.” She confessed to being incredibly nervous about the shoot but concluded, “It was just something magical.” Fun fact: Ellen was supposed to be in the video as the piano player during the bar scene (and the bar was named “Blake’s” because of course it was) .
Ellen and Gwen are pals, and you can tell by their conversation. At one point, Gwen was calling Ellen “bitch,” but in the good way. So it was inevitable that the conversation would turn to Gwen’s beau, Blake Shelton. Ellen showed some pictures of the happy couple and came across a few from Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy party, where Gwen was sitting in Blake’s lap. Ellen quipped, “They didn’t have enough chairs at this event?” Good one, DeGeneres.
Gwen is no longer a judge on The Voice, the show where the pair met (which I am hoping means she’s going on tour for the new album), but she is serving as a mentor for Team Blake. Ellen tried to get a reaction from Gwen, asking, “When he popped the big question – about you being his mentor – how did he do that?” The question resulted in a giggle fit from Gwen, who asked, “Did you rehearse that before?” She then answered the question, stating, “I want to be on that show as much as possible. That show, it’s hard to talk without laughing…I got so much out of it…” Ellen quickly added, “You did!”, which resulted in more giggles from Gwen. Through the laughs, Gwen said, “Oh my God! You’re so good. You’re so good at your job. This show is like…I just come on and giggle and laugh, it’s so embarrassing.”
So how did Blake start this relationship, exactly? I’m thinking he may have passed her a note that said “Do you like me?” with check boxes for “yes” and “no.” New love is the best. I’m Gwen’s age and I have been dating a guy for a year now who is awesome. Have I made him CD mixes of love songs that make me think of him? Yep. Do I do an improvised “happy dance” when I’m going to see him? Yep. I think it’s adorable that Gwen is reduced to a giggling teenager when she talks about Blake. And she looks awesome. I am coveting that pink blouse. You go, Gwen.

I agree. I think Blake is genuinely crazy about her. It’s rebound, but I think it’s real. Finding out your husband has been cheating with the nanny for three years would do a number on any woman, and the best medicine for that betrayal and pain is being loved up with a great guy who thinks you’re amazing. Even if it doesn’t last, which I’m beginning to think it might, they were the right people for each other at this time in their lives coming out of divorces.
I loved that outfit on her. She has amazing legs.

I saw her on the Ellen show, and her face DID NOT MOVE. Even through all of the giggling. And one eye is looking droopy — a tell tale sign of the ‘Tox.
Yes! Her left eye kept doing something weird. I thought maybe it was that her fake eyelashes were so long they were getting tangled in her hair.

What the hell is she wearing? It’s 2016 not 1996 and you are not a teenage girl anymore. That severe make up makes her look older. Also I think she might be one of those women who just constantly needs to be in a relationship and be in love.

They’re at least three sizes too big! I had to go back and look because she used to have tiny teeth and I can see how someone could sell her on veneers but this is awful. It looks like such an effort to even close her lips.
And to be honest I kind of think they affect her singing voice, something’s a little different.
Validation for the veneers comment! I went back to see her “old” teeth too. Whoever did these veneers was off because her teeth are way too big now. IMO it ages her and it does look like she has trouble closing her mouth. Yikes. No. Gwen. No. Flashback. Remember how cute she was with her braces?

WOW whats with all the shade tossin at Gwen? i LOVE seeing her this happy. i have been a huge fan since the OC days and this has been her signature look since then. its not new people. you’re talking like she’s just started sporting the bleach blonde red lips look. FFS back in the late ’80s early ’90s she was the only one out there sporting this…..i like to call it the Marilyn Monroe meets punk. and i love it.
Most people commenting know it’s not a new look, and that’s probably part of the criticism. After 20+ years perhaps it’s time to adjust the look, especially since the look works less well on her now.
I’ll add that most people supposedly ‘shade tossin” or ‘trolling’ or ‘mean’ have been, and probably still are at some level, her fans.
Which doesn’t mean they have to like everything she does.
We go through this on this here gossip site: people don’t like it when a celeb they like gets criticized, even if it’s not remotely on the level of criticism that a family like the Karadshians get.
I have a fondness for Gwen, doesn’t mean I’m not going to mention that I don’t think this look works for her anymore, or that maybe she’s tweaking her face, or that maybe her relationship with Blake is a little too publicly out there.

Agreed! Who cares if her relationship is “real”?! Who cares if you don’t like her blond hair? She looks amazing, probably better than most of us here look at any age. There’s fun gossip and then there is just being plain awful and mean.

I am probably in the minority, but I always found Gavin wayyy hotter than Blake. I also am not down with the country singing plaid shirt look. She seems way too desperate for this to work. Look, I am in this first few months giddiness too but with 3 kids and a failed marriage, I just don’t think she should be acting this way this fast because you know the kids see it. I’d personally like to see her build her self esteem up.

What does that have to do with it? You can be with the hottest guy in the world, but if he barely pays you any attention for years, it’s you loving him more, and then you find he’s been banging the nanny for THREE, count them, three years in your home, having a good looking guy drooling over you makes him much hotter than the ex, who still hasn’t given up the nanny, by the way. To have a man who is charming like Blake building your ego back at a time you desperately needed it after your cheating husband made you feel less than and humiliated? I pick Blake. Gavin and his laziness and using Gwen lost his hot for me. She’s probably having a lot of hot sex also after a dying marriage. I say go for it.
To me it looks more like lust than love. Hope I’m wrong and wish them the best, but I don’t think this one is for the long term. It’s a hot steamy start which can fizzle out. Been there, done that.
