    I love it.

    • Classy and Sassy says:

      Me too!

    • JenYfromTheBlok says:

I don’t think it counts as “pulled off”. This garment appears to have violent Picasso style breasts, and I must admit it’s not my thing. I love avante garde, but NOT as a walking misogynist thing.

  2. OrigialTessa says:

    No she didn’t. It’s terrible.

    • Poisonous Lookalike says:

+1 I usually like the yellow and black combination, but this is a mess of textures and styles. I don’t know what that detailing in the chestal region is supposed to be, but it looks like empty hoods. And the black lines in the yellow look like stylized ribs. Ugh.

      • Ankhel says:

Empty hoods? Funny, I saw Evil Smurf hats. Love her though, and the skirt part is cool.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Agree. It resembles a Marvel Superhero costume.

    • Annetommy says:

She would have looked better if she had pulled it off…and binned it.

    • key says:

+1. She’ gets a pass bc she’s who she is and she has fashionistas’s respect for not being a boring red carpet, I give her that, but many, many times she doesn’t pull of some of the eccentric outfits she wears and even then she gets love. She looks waistless and chest-less, which is odd given that the optic illusion of the design aims to the opposite, which is to give a more feminine figure. Nope, she’s not pulling it off but again: kudos for not being boring.

    • qwerty says:

Yeah. It’s yet another dress that’s fug as f. but supposedly she pulls it off. Nope. She’s just been wearing ugly clothes lately.

    • islandwalker says:

It’s awful. Reminds me of the T-shirts with the picture of a bikini clad body down the front.

    • Alix says:

It really is. No way to pull this off successfully.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Right? Pulled it Off? On what planet?

  3. lizabeth says:

Nope. Don’t agree at all. They top half, maybe without the loose leather sleeves, but the fishtail, double layered skirt? No.

It also makes her look bigger in the middle than she is.

  4. meme says:

Nope. She did not pull this hideous dress off. and it is hideous

  5. sketches says:

    Fantastic, love it.

  6. InvaderTak says:

If she had a different backdrop, maybe. But it blends in too much.

  7. Elisa the I. says:

Queen Bee outfit. I kind of like it. 🙂

  8. Dana says:

This is fugly & the Guardian’s Secret Actress columnist is her Blue Jasmine co-star, Sally Hawkins.

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

I thought it may be Minnie Driver? But I will admit to not be paying too much attention to it.

  9. Harryg says:

I think it’s those sleeves that makes it hideous. But she’s pretty like always.

  10. sills says:

She’s a very stylish and elegant woman, but this time I’d say “no” to the dress and hair, “yes” to the shoes, jewelry and make-up.

  11. Lucy says:

HECK YES. The contrast between her calm face and the craziness that is the dress is happening.

  12. Josefina says:

I hate it, but I like that I hate it. I respect that Cate wears bold, weird dresses like this.

  13. kri says:

I hate this dress. I LOVE the fact that Prince told that plasticene black hole to get off his stage. Purple slap, purple slap.

  14. BooBooLaRue says:

Wow so hideous, but if she only fails say, once in a decade or so, respect.

  15. MAC says:

    Needs black hair………

  16. me says:

Why are we being reminded of that time Prince pulled Kim off the stage for not dancing? Why does everything that happens on this earth have to be connected to the damn Kardashians?

  17. PunkyMomma says:

She looks like a killer bee.

  18. KBeth says:

She is beautiful, dress is horrid.

  19. Mel says:

What does “pull it off” mean? If it means looking good – no, she didn’t. I think that some people just choose to overlook her terrible dressing choices because they “love” her.
I love her as an actress (and she seems like a nice person), but her dressing is more often terrible than not.

  20. Anare says:

She looks like a big insect. Yikes! Grab the Raid!

  21. Kym says:

I’m going to have to respectfully disagree. Yikes.

  22. Snazzy says:

I hope Prestly really is able to take down Scientology

  23. Magnoliarose says:

I like that Cate takes fashion chances and it isn’t bland. I don’t love this dress but it is interesting and reminds me of Modern art.

  24. EM says:

    hideous

  25. Jayna says:

    Horrific.

  26. A Fan says:

    More importantly, the face!

[*As in a non-plastic, slightly-aging, lovely, NATURAL FACE*]

  27. Lime says:

I’m not a big fan of her fashion but I guess for her it’s about not getting bored and making the most of her unlimited access to designers and free clothes to do her promotional work. I’m sure she enjoys fashion a lot too but I can’t imagine her having a lot of time to peruse outfits – her stylists probably email her a list and she does a rapid-fire picking routine.
Haven’t seen Carol and it doesn’t interest me at all but she was outstanding in Truth. Caught that on DVD this weekend along with Sandra Bullock’s Our Brand is Crisis and the enormous difference in quality – acting, script, ideas – was just laughable (Clooney was a producer in OBIC and it showed). Sandra Bullock is morphing in Meg Ryan in terms of nervous quirks and reliance on wardrobe items to get over a sometime inability to find their character. Painful, painful to watch. Cate is an acting queen and she’s got this unique beauty to boot.
