Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar Odom the first time back in December 2013. It feels like it was so long ago. Lamar never responded to Khloe’s divorce petition, and he actively avoided being served with the paperwork, which meant that the divorce was in limbo for more than a year and a half. When Lamar overdosed last year, Khloe asked the court to suspend the divorce filing so she could still legally take care of Lamar (and make his medical decisions) as his wife. Nowadays, Lamar is doing better. I believe that Khloe is paying for Lamar’s ongoing treatment, and she’s rented a house for him close to her own house. But she’s still done. She still wants the divorce. So she’s re-filed.

Khloe Kardashian has just gone to court a second time to end her marriage to Lamar Odom … TMZ has learned. Khloe, with the help of attorney Laura Wasser, filed for divorce Thursday, claiming — as she did the first time — irreconcilable differences. Our sources say there is a prenup and the 2 worked out a property settlement the first time around, so now it’s just a waiting game. In California, a divorce cannot become final until 6 months after it’s filed. We’re told the divorce is amicable … Khloe and Lamar are on good terms and he was given a heads-up she was filing.

TMZ broke the story … Khloe filed for divorce the first time in December 2013, and the paperwork just sat in the courthouse as she tried to salvage her marriage. When Lamar OD’d at a Nevada brothel last October Khloe dismissed her divorce petition … just weeks before the divorce was to become final. She says it was never about getting back with Lamar … she just didn’t want to upset him while he was recovering. But the final straw came in March when Khloe saw pics on TMZ that Lamar was drinking again.

I know a lot of people believed that Khloe and Lamar’s situation during his hospitalization and recovery was shady, but I sort of believed that she was genuinely trying to do right by him. Maybe that makes me a Khloe Apologist, but I think she loved him, she wanted to take care of him and she was just trying to do her best. But she’s done being married to him. People Magazine had a lengthy story about what was going on behind the scenes, with sources saying:

“This was always the plan. The divorce has never been officially off. Khloé was waiting for the timing to be right…She was loyal for a long time and taking care of him, but she’s not a babysitter and needs to move on with her life. She’s honestly fine and it’s more of a formality at this point. She’s there for him and they’re in regular contact and she wishes him well. She’ll always be there for him. But as far as their marriage is concerned, that’s over and has been for quite some time. It was time to make it official. Khloé told Lamar. He wasn’t blindsided. He knew it was coming. It was amicable. Khloé cares about Lamar and he’ll always be in her life. But there is only so much you can do for a person. You can’t help or fix someone who won’t fix themselves.”

I believe all of that too. She probably will still take care of him, as much as she can, but at this point, she wants to be done with all of this.
