Why isn’t Taylor Swift’s whole #squad defending her honor online?

A photo posted by Cara Delevingne (@caradelevingne) on

Several of Taylor Swift’s friends rode to her defense in the immediate aftermath of Kim Kardashian showing the receipts. Selena Gomez and a few other squad members posted sh-t in the vein of “OMG, there are more important things to talk about!!!!” Which is funny for a lot of different reasons, but that’s neither here nor there. What’s interesting is that there are some squad members NOT speaking up in Taylor’s defense, and it seems like there are some divided loyalties at play.

People Magazine had a rundown of who is NOT speaking here. #Taymerica partiers Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne haven’t said one word about it, likely because they’re both close to Kendall Jenner and they know and are friendly with Kim Kardashian. Shockingly (or not so much), Karlie Kloss hasn’t said anything either and she’s one of Taylor’s BFFs, right? But Karlie is – I believe – somewhat close with Kanye too. Karlie even attended Kanye’s album release party in February. Also shocking: Lena Dunahm hasn’t said anything! She’s tight with Taylor, but she’s also defended the Kardashian women many times. Hilariously, People Magazine also lists Kendrick Lamar as a potential Swift-squad member who hasn’t said anything, probably because Kendrick is featured on The Life of Pablo!!! There’s a longer list, but these are the most interesting non-committal people, don’t you think?

Meanwhile, Taylor’s BFF Abigail Anderson went OFF in a series of now-deleted tweets on Monday. Abigail brought North West into it. Nope.

“Lord, hear my prayers.
I pray God helps your daughter understand, that despite how many times she’ll hear daddy reference all women as ‘bitches,’ she isn’t one. I pray she understands her father actually IS faithful to her mother, despite all the adulterous comments she will hear her father making.
I pray that she will understand ‘adultery and bitches’ are just daddy’s form of art and not to worry because not every man thinks like him.
Lastly, I pray for forgiveness. May God forgive you & your wife for doing to others the very things you pray are NEVER done to your daughter.”

[From Us Weekly]

Abigail deleted those tweets, then wrote:

No one deserves death threats on social media, or in life. Let’s just say that clearly. No one should threaten Abigail Anderson or anyone else. But if you want to say that Taylor Swift’s BFF is a holier-than-thou a—hole, go right ahead.

Here are some photos from Abigail’s social media from the #Taymerica party.

Probably because they aren’t actually her friends and only “hang out” with her because it gives them more publicity.

    • OriginallyBlue says:

    • Fa says:

100% true they all are in for the PR and they can’t defend because she lied at the beginning & the video show that

    • jinni says:

Exactly. Those people are handpicked to be seen with her because they bring something she wants to incorporate into her brand and image. An example of this is how when Jezebel called her out for having no black friends all of a sudden she made sure to be seen with Serayah McNiell from Empire until everything blew over. This year the token black friend was played by Uzo Abuda at the 4th of July party.

    • Betti says:

      And a pay check!

    • jjmeow says:

I am sure it is actually that she has clamped down and told everyone of her friends to STFU. Taylor is smart enough to know every time someone comments on this, the news cycle starts over, and the whole thing is rehashed. It will become “the event that shall not be mentioned” The early comments were likely posted without permission from Taylor herself, and I doubt anyone close to her will speak about it for a very long time, or at least until there is gossip to replace this gossip.

      • Sarah says:

Taylor is the one who can’t shut up about this. And what makes us think she’s smart? She just has a good marketing and PR team and that’s probably because of her parents.

      • jjmeow says:

If you don’t think that regardless of her personality, Taylor Swift is a smart cunning business woman than her PR really has worked on you. How do you know she wont shut up? She made one statement on Instagram and not a thing since. Are you her friend, is she calling you to talk about it?

    • daisie-b says:

The matter at hand is a question as to whether or not a law was broken. Tweets or instagrams or posts on blogs by friends make no différence one way or the other? It cannot be decided by popular vote. There are legal means to settle these disputes and both sides have legal teams on retainer.

  2. Jensmom says:

Is there some reason I should know who Abigail Anderson is? Never heard of her before.

    • Krista says:

Nope. She’s a regular joe who has been friends with TS since they were kids.

    • K says:

I think she is an actual childhood friend. So real person, real friend known her forever.

    • Leah says:

Yes…I’m guessing that she’s the “redhead named Abigail” in Taylor’s song “Fifteen”…who sleeps with a guy who then dumps her. 🙁

      I’m embarrassed I know that! 😞

      • susiecue says:

Ahh, we all Tayed it up at some point. I had that album

      • BunnyBear says:

Yes! She’s the Abigail who gave EVERYTHING she had (sex) to a boy who changed his mind.

Hopefully Taylor wont sue me for repeating some of her lyrics 😎

      • La Ti Da says:

I can’t tell you how much I hate that song lyric. Exactly when did we revert back to a time where a woman’s virginity was all she had and she was ruined if she unwisely gave it away?

      • InsertNameHere says:

Abigail was also an NCAA swimmer in college. Want to cause a mess on campus and make people late for class? Bring your famous bestie to class with you.

    • Telicity says:

      She’s the Abigail from “Fifteen”.

    • Adrien says:

Let’s just say she is Tay’s equivalent of Kim’s Jonathan Cheban.

    • HH says:

She’s an actual, non-celeb, real-life friend of TS.

A while back, I caught myself watching an E! Special about Swift. It was interesting at first, but then I had to change the channel once they started recounting how Taylor was being “bullied” by the other girls. She stated (paraphrasing): “I’m not sure why they were so mean to me, maybe it’s because they were cheerleading and I was recording an album.” Essentially stating they were jealous of her. However, she said it with such snark and such a tone, that you question if it was actually her own attitude that resulted in having no friends.

People don’t realize that when you talk bad about someone you can do it in such a way that it reflects on you and not your intended recipient.

    • CornyBlue says:

When she was fifteen she gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind. They both cried.

  3. Loopy says:

Do cliques in middle school ever really like the Queen B?they usually cant wait for their demise.

    • Cara says:

My BFF from 3rd through 8th grade was the Regina George/Taylor of my school. She made my life hell and I was too weak to get away from her. When I finally got the courage to stand up for myself and tell her what I thought of her, it was AMAZING! Best life lesson ever!!

On topic: the Taylors always get what’s coming to them…sometimes it just takes a while.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

Oh man, I have dealt with the school bullying thing in spades back when I was a teacher. We had intensive training from a team of psychologists on the issue.

      Here’s the skinny:

Of course bullying is real, but about 95% of the time the one being supposedly bullied is in fact doing something (maybe unknowingly) to contribute to the problem. You have to remember that kids are still developing emotional skills, and this applies to everyone. Mediation helps. It helps a lot. Especially when you get peer counselors involved (other kids who have notable emotional skills and some training and support for what they do). Every now and then, you run into someone who is genuinely a victim, for example the kid who suffers from severe anxiety and doesn’t have the best coping skills, but most of the time it is not that simple.

What doesn’t work? Hand-wringing and finger-pointing over how much you are the “victim” and “they” are “just jealous.” The blame game. Stereotypes about cheerleaders and nerds. This makes the problem worse. The one doing the hand-wringing inevitably sets herself up so that everyone else can’t wait for her to get a grand comeuppance because they are frustrated and don;t know what else to do.

I never bought into Taylor’s bullying narrative. She strikes me as someone who is completely helpless at playing well with others and showing them empathy. It is all about her. This leads me to believe that it has always been about her. Few people have any patience with that.

      • Erinn says:

While I do believe that there ARE a lot of kids who are doing something that maybe incites the actions from the other kids – I also know for a fact that a lot of teachers end up with pre-formed opinions of kids by hearing their other teachers talk about them. I come from a family of teachers… I was going to be one myself before going into web development. I also was always the kid who they sat with either the kid who was getting picked on because I’d include them, or the kid who had to sit with the kids who needed to be broken up from their friends because they were a disruption. I’ve seen a kid who has a bad rap get blamed for things they didn’t do. I’ve seen kids who are beloved by the whole school community of teachers and parents be absolute nightmares to those kids with bad raps for no reason other than because they could, and because they would never get flack for it.

I also watched my autistic brother get picked on all the times- sometimes physical attacks – while some teachers would roll their eyes when it was brought up by myself or our parents. No kid deserves that.

But teachers are humans, and they’re often going to take the word of the kid who’s well liked or otherwise well behaved over the kid who maybe caused other problems in class. They’re also going to spend the year hearing their friend talk about all the trouble one kid has caused in their class, and by the time that the kid is in their class they’re going to have an expectation on their behavior already set. Sometimes it’s 100% right. But sometimes that kid who’s a little jerk is also a victim.

I just think there are far too many factors to even say that it’s 95% of the time something the kid is doing to cause it. Handling of the staff as well as bias really does affect this sort of thing. It’s dangerous to assume that everything done is bullying, but it’s also just as dangerous to automatically wonder what the victim did to ‘provoke’ the bullying.

      • Wren says:

I was bullied, and to this day I don’t really know why. All I can come up with is “easy target”. Shy, quiet, preferred to be left alone, etc. As I recall none of my teachers ever did much about it, and my mom had to step in once because the school kept trying to get me and the main girl who made my life hell to “work it out”. Except instead of helping us work it out they just wanted to throw us together and hope for the best. I hope things are different now.

It only stopped in middle school when I learned the art of profanity and just cussed those awful girls out whenever they went after me.

      • Llamas says:

I may be totally and completely wrong but I think I heard somewhere awhile back that Taylor fabricated a lot of the bullying. I may be thinking of someone else.

Also, “quickly finds black person to show ‘I LIKE BLACK PEOPLE TOO HEHE’ and then dumps them once PR mess is over.” Classic Taylor swift 😑

      • Sarah says:

I’m teaching for 25 years, and yes, there are some kids who have “annoying” personalities, but that is nonsense that having an annoying personality or not fitting in is contributing to bullying. You are blaming victims here, victims who aren’t adult blonde millionaires. I get what you were saying but I don’t think the comparison is apt.
And you know what else I’ve seen? Teachers make excuse after excuse when the “popular” kids bully those lonely kids. Your explanation reminds me of this.
Erinn, you are right on about teachers excusing the “good” or “popular” kids. One of the meanest girls I ever taught was valedictorian and went to Harvard. The teachers all loved her, but from the kids in my Creative Writing class talking when they thought I wasn’t listening, she was as mean as a snake.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

Getting back to this after being out all day:

I hope I did not sound dismissive! I did not want to imply that kids don’t actually get bullied. I was bullied myself, back in the olden days when adults simply didn’t do anything about it, and I know how it feels.

What I have seen though, specifically at my last teaching job which was awhile ago (I left teaching quite a ways back) is that there are anti-bullying programs out there which do an immense amount of good and get past black and white narratives. Mediation, building awareness, peer counseling are all really, really effective. In the majority of cases, all the kids involved can overcome obstacles when they are bought to the table and taught a bit about how to talk to one another. By the way, i did not say that 95% of the time the bullied kid is doing something to cause the problem– I meant that 95% of the time both sides have something to say and both sides can do some work toward making things better. Especially when you are dealing with kids who might not have the best coping skills or communication skills. This is what mediation is all about– coming together, talking, compromising. Usually when people feel that they are being heard, things improve.

Are you familiar with the work of Richard Weissbourd? Google Making Caring Common (MCC). It’s a Harvard-based initiative which not only seeks to combat bullying, but in general seeks to build greater compassion, empathy, and overall emotional intelligence in children.

I wish programs like this existed everywhere. They don’t. I readily admit that my last teaching job was in a fairly privileged environment.

All of this is kid of off topic. To bring it back on topic, I have to say I call BS on Taylor Swift’s self-serving stories about herself. She seem to me to be extremely lacking in compassion and empathy.

    • KB says:

I don’t think she was ever the Queen B in school. I think she’s trying to make up for it now as an adult. She still aspires to be “popular” and part of a “squad” because she never was growing up.

    • Lucy says:

That one line from Mean Girls says it all: You think everyone is in love with you, when in reality everybody hates you.

  4. Clare says:

Her bbf is so out of line. F-k off with bringing people’s kids into this shit. Disgusting.

    • TIFFANY says:

Yeah, involving their children is a no no.

But is okay, because she praying for them and all….

    • QQ says:

Right, who The f*ck asked that sanctimonious chick about Child rearing advice or “prayers” for North or whatever, GTFO

      • HH says:

True. Although after what Kanye said about Wiz and Amber’s baby though… He can’t call anyone out.

None of it is warranted or deserved, but we essentially have a war of words with people who clearly can talk sideways at any point.

      • Tiffany says:

@HH. Kanye got blasted for discussing Sebastian, as he should have. That was completely deserved.

      • Clare says:

        @HH
Yea Kanye was a massive wanker for bringing someone elses kid into an argument – but that doesn’t excuse/justify/explain/anything.

This awful woman is no less wrong for bringing a child into it, just because the child’s father happens to be a wanker.

    • Maire3 says:

Yeah, it reminds me of a saying often heard in religious circles “You can say anything you want about somebody, as long as you end it with ‘God Bless ’em’ “

    • Ronaldinhio says:

I get wanting to take a stand beside your friend but fake praying is the sort of thing that gives the Christian religion and Christians a bad name.
Fake praying as a veiled attack on people but aimed at a little girl is a complete b-tch move.
I know it was done to inflict hurt.
Praying that God forgives Kim and Kanye for calling out her friend is just grotesque.
As if God listens to anything that comes from an unpure request. She should be ashamed.

I pray that Taylor Swift’s asinine friend learns to shut up and stop involving children in adult arguments.

      • Locke Lamora says:

I get she trid to defend Taylor because she’s actually her friend, if my best friend f-ed up I would probably try to defend her too, even if I knew she was guilty, but this was such a stupid response.

    • Alex says:

Right?! Children are always a no go zone for me. I love how her stans are all GO ABBY when they probably dragged Kanye for doing the same. The hypocrisy is amazing.
Go take your prayers and send them taylors way so she can stop being an a$$hole

  5. jinni says:

Yes, no one deserves death threats just like an innocent child that has nothing to do with the drama doesn’t deserve to be dragged into it by passive aggressive bff of one of adults in this fiasco. I also doubt God would want his followers using him to mask their subtle jabs at another one of his children though their child. But maybe they don’t teach that at her church.

    • Christin says:

She apparently missed the part about saying prayers in private, not for all to see.

      • teatimeiscoming says:

That’s a huge blindspot for Christians in the US, to be fair. They LOVE to spout their religion in public.

      • Christin says:

Yes, it is. The part ‘like the hypocrites (…to be seen by others)’ also often comes to mind in today’s world.

      • Starkiller says:

@teatime: so you’ve met every single American Christian, have you?

  6. CidySmiley says:

You mean her skinny white girl squad? I dobut they would know what to say. I also think they don’t want to get dragged like Selena. Also a lot of them modeled for Kanye, and are friends with Kylie and Kendall.. it would be a bad career move. Also I don’t see a … ton.. of people defending swift because I think the general idea is that she did lie, and she was in the wrong. I feel like at this point they are well aware of Swift’s massive machine. I mean.. can you imagine all the professional photographers at her summer party thing? Those are not iPhone pictures! Everything is carefully constructed for a pretty white girl innocent party, and I don’t think they want to get sucked into that any further at the moment. They’re chosing to not get on the Taytanic. And I don’t blame them.

On another note though, I think this proves that Taylor Swift is a terrible friend. Think about what happened between her and Katy, or her and Demi. She flipped so fast! Kanye made the decision to call her and talk to her about it before he released the song. He could have pulled a classic Eminem and put her in there anyway. But he even says on the call that their relationship is more important, and Taylor stomped that. She’s obviously the toxic person in every relationship she has, and the amazing thing about this drama, is that it makes her the liar in all of her victim situations, and they might be trying to put some distance between them and that. And frankly, I don’t blame them

    • Castor & Pollux says:

Ooh…can we please please please refer to Swifty as ‘Taytanic’ for the duration of these shenanigans? Cidy, you just made my day!

    • Katenotkatie says:

      The Taytanic- BRILLIANT.

    • Lynnie says:

Creds to M16 for Taytanic. Otherwise your assessment was spot-on.

    • Bonzo says:

MI6 coined “Taytanic” on the Hiddleston thread yesterday. And “THexit”. Sixer was sulking that she didn’t come up with those first. 😉

CidySmiley, you nailed it. Taylor is a toxic person who uses friends for her own gain and now that her two-faced backstabbing is known to the public, she won’t be able to hide behind that victim persona anymore. It’s too bad that so many of her “squad” don’t have the chutzpah to stand up to her and tell her off. At least the press is more willing to now.

      • shelly says:

The good ship Taytanic has hit the Kardashian iceberg, abandon ship, down periscope…Hiddles and children first.

      • Tara says:

Kudos to the coiners of Taytanic and THexit! Also, “hiddles and children first!” made me giggle. Good work all!

    • HH says:

I’m surprised that Selena even stood up for her. Remember when Selena was going through that rough period, going back and forth with Bieber, partying a lot? Swift was nowhere to be found. Almost as if she didn’t want her image tainted. She was back as soon as Selena got herself together.

  7. K says:

They are public friends not real friends. A little shocked on Lena I thought she’d be all over this to have her name in the paper. Maybe she is waiting to see which way the wind is blowing before she comments so she can maximize her attention.

But really all these people are business associates and looking to stay close what is best for their bottom line.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

      Bingo!

Lena is trying to figure out an angle. It was one thing when this was all done against Taylor’s wishes and Kanye was just being a bastard. Now that the snapchat was released she can’t play that angle and has to see how the wind blows.

She knows she’ll have to dance in circles to make something stick tho.

      • MI6 says:

I will say this for Lena…she’s smart. If a ship is sinking, she will not rearrange the deck chairs.

    • QQ says:

Lena got put the f*ck out the Paint Last time she tried to complain about Famous, Everyone pretty much reminded her of her book and her Little sister’s stories, like if you wanna talk about consent and body autonomy………

      • I Choose Me says:

I try to pay as little as attention to Dunham as possible but the petty in me is cackling knowing that she got dragged for her hypocrisy.

    • Grey says:

Didn’t Lena’s boyfriend, Jack Antonoff, work with Taylor on a bunch of stuff? I believe he was on the stage when she made her big speech at the Grammy’s about how no one can take your success away from you, etc., so maybe Lena is in a bit of a tough place on this one?

    • morgfunk says:

Lena has been on the outs with Taylor for a while, I think their friendship is over. They haven’t been seen in public together for months, and while some people are whispering it’s due to political differences (Lena is team Hillary and people are saying taylor is team Trump, although there is circumstantial evidence that points to that, I’m not sure. I just think that Taylor is the human equivalent of white bread, she chooses not to engage on politicized matters to protect her image which is funny considering she ruined it herself by engaging on what seems to be a very trivial matter, thereby showing her true character), I don’t think that was it. What I do know is that quite recently Lena’s newsletter, Lenny featured an article by Khloe Kardashian of all people, talking about spirituality, which for me is the smoking gun or other yet stronger circumstantial evidence that there is a rift between the 2. That’s how celebs slam each other they don’t take direct pot shots, they show their displeasure by making subtle digs to that person in an extremely passive aggressive fashion, like the newsletter. Personally, I was very disappointed that KK was featured because Lenny has, well had a reputation as being a feminist, somewhat intellectual maybe even slightly subversive or alternative newsletter and I’m sorry but once you let a Kardashian’s ghost writer put their spin on it, you jumped the shark on that and hard. And the worst part, that family is incapable of giving a thoughtful analysis on anything, they have to be selling or promoting something and this article was no different, it was way out of step for the publication and a very thinly veiled attempt at crappy PR for Khloe, why she’s ok with getting a divorce although she’s super spiritual and non judgmental (*eyes rolling so hard I pulled my back and my neck) .I’m not a huge hater of that family…ok I am, but not effusively, I just don’t pay attention to them because it’s not relevant for my life nor do I see them as role models or anything to which I aspire to be (vapid, self obsessed, double check the box for money, image, and status obsessed with no real substance or depth of character, anti-education or at least anti intellectual basically and terribly narcissistic). With that a being said, on the Taylor VS Kimye, I’m team Kimye because you gotta give credit where credit is due, right is right in this case. But I think Lena and Taylor are dunzo as friends. Also Taylor worked closely with Lena’s BF and I wouldn’t put anything past her, despite her quickly dwindling saccharine image much like cotton candy in a rainstorm, I think she’s an active man stealer, and while there’s tons of proof of that I’m not going to go into it because I have better things to do, but I’ve been ruminating on the Lena Taylor thing for a while now and am interested to see, in time, whether my theory is true or not.

  8. tifzlan says:

Since when has Kendrick Lamar ever been part of Taylor’s squad? These people aren’t defending her because she is messy AF and they know it. Anyway, i have a prayer of my own to offer:

Lord, hear my prayers. I pray Thor helps Loki understand that despite how many times he’ll hear sweetheart reference all boyfriends as ‘the one’, he is not it. I pray he understands his girlfriend actually HAS felt this way multiple times, despite all the comments to the contrary he will see her leak to the tabloids.

I pray that he will understand that self-victimization is just sweetheart’s form of art and to worry dearly because she WILL write an album about him and win ten Grammys despite Kendrick Lamar being nominated for the same awards.

Lastly, I pray for forgiveness. May Thor forgive her and her PR team for doing to others the very things she cries to the media about having been done to her.

In the name of the Kween, Pimp Mama and all the DELICIOUS drama we’ve been served lately,
    AMEN.

    • ElleBee says:

      Amen

    • HH says:

PREACH! Let me get my church fan with MLK on the cover. Have to cool down. That prayer was nothing but justice.

Let the church say Amen: AMEN!

      • Tara says:

I have $5 to submit my petition that “nothing but justice” should formally now and forever after replace “perfection” as the way to say something is so glorious and fitting it cannot possibly be better.

    • TIFFANY says:

This. A cameo on a song, a friend does not make.

  9. OriginallyBlue says:

Don’t be an a**hole and drag children into the beef, especially when it isn’t beef and it’s not even yours. Kanye tried it with Amber Rose and got shit for it and so should this girl (minus the death threats of course)

  10. Pinky says:

Maybe they know she would stab them in the back in a heartbeat and aren’t willing to put their necks on the line for a Lannister.

    –TheRealPinky

    • Aussie girl says:

Bu..but a Lannister always pays their debts…. Even if it’s in Instagram pictures with her😊.

  11. Scal says:

Death threats are awful and no one should be doing that-but there was ZERO need for this nobody to drag North into the debate. Of course people were going to drag her. And the whole “I will pray to God to forgive you”-please. Sanctimonious cow.

  12. Scal says:

Other random question-in the header picture is that a leg or a arm coming out of Taylor’s stomach? Where is the rest of that person?

    • shelly says:

Scal I just had a look, it appears to be a photo shop fail. But surely Taytay wouldn’t need to photo shop her pictures, would she ?

    • Imqrious2 says:

That’s just Cara’s bent arm. You can see her hand on her waist. Taylor is just bending forward in front of it. There’s a lot to criticize Taylor for, but C’MON…smh.

      • shelly says:

Look again I’m talking about the arm/leg that appears to be branching from TayTay’s thigh…Cara’s arms are all accounted for.

      • Imqrious2 says:

Just looks like she’s blocking someone standing behind at a distance.

    • CharlotteCharlotte says:

It’s TH’s leg. He was standing off behind them so that he could be snapped in the pics, but done ‘accidentally’, because TS is so private, y’know? There are other shots of this same pose taken from different angles and you can see him clearly. Accidentally.

  13. Aussie girl says:

Dear lord, I pray I never have to hear a tweet like that again. Seriously that was bad and wrong.
Taylor’s friends ( cough) aren’t responding because they don’t want death threats and know Tay is in the shit. That and I don’t think there real friends. Where’s Blake now…? She has no problems gushing and standing up for woody,?

    • Bonzo says:

Judging by her squad’s tweets (and that racist director), her friends are as tone-deaf and arrogant as Taylor is. They all deserve each other.

Tom deserves to go down with the ship if he continues to stay with in immature, narcissistic human for career advancement.

  14. OrigialTessa says:

I hope her publicist asked them not to. It doesn’t help to defend a guilty person and pile on sanctimonious garbage that no one wants to hear. They all need to shut up and let Taylor take this hit. She deserves it.

    • TIFFANY says:

I am pretty sure their publicists said not to. Trust me, she would want them to, then deny it.

  15. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

    “Lord, hear my prayers”

Jesus…are all her defenders in the thought process that if they don’t go hard defending Taylor that their families will be kidnapped or something? Between Joseph Kahn “blond woman murdered” and this I’m cringing. Funny how she didn’t say a word about Taylor’s words and actions though right? Because it’s super bad Kanye says all that but um, no comment that Taylor was encouraging him to say it.

Also, for the love of God can her friends stop trying to use BLM as a shield? You idiots NEVER tweet about it when there’s actually people dead, but when Tay-Tay gets in trouble suddenly you keep referencing how there’s more serious issues in the country.

  16. Maybe because they saw how badly it went when Selena, Abigail and her director tried it….and failed miserably and made it worse for Taylor. Oh and also because it’s obvious she lied and they do’t want to look like idiots.

  17. eileen says:

Last night I read a Taylor Swift apologist who commented on Taylor Swift vs Kim Kardashian who said Taylor had “Class, who keeps her private life private” I have never read such nonsensical garbage in my life-I asked her how could a singer who disses people in her songs, tips off paparazzi for her every move, hires a photographer to document her Stepford wife psychotic 4th of July party and plasters it all over social media was keeping her life private? I don’t understand these fanatical people such as this Abigail, a sanctimonious bitch who drags little girls into arguments between adults rationalize things? I’ve never been so fanatical over any person in my life that I couldn’t see where they were clearly wrong!

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

Someone on Celebitchy posted a link of one of the late night TV hosts having a go about how Taylor’s life is SO private. It was hilarious and I think it says it all. Her life is so private we just all mysteriously seem to know everything about it.

Is she dating a new guy? Oh, didn’t know that, not like there are professional themed color coordinated couple photos splashed anywhere right?

    • Otaku Fairy says:

“Last night I read a Taylor Swift apologist who commented on Taylor Swift vs Kim Kardashian who said Taylor had “Class, who keeps her private life private”.

That’s hilarious, but it’s not too surprising that someone used that argument: when an attention-seeking starlet (they all are) or celebrity projects ‘the right’ image, she’s automatically seen as less thirsty than the ones who do the opposite of projecting that ‘right image’- even if she’s in the middle of seeking the public’s attention.

  18. Naya says:

So its official. Taylor is the obnoxious moralising cheerleader in all those high school movies who we discover at the end is nothing like she claims to be. And her best friend deserves the medal for Best Concern Troll 2016. Just when I think I cant dislike this girl and her crowd anymore, she proves me wrong.

    • toni says:

It’s insane how cartoonish her personality is. She really appears to be a stereotype from those High School movies. The awful homecoming queen who treats her “friends” like servants and if any of them don’t follow her instructions she distroys them. And against her enemies she sends her minions to do the dirty work.

    • Sarah says:

I love that she has her own initial in a heart on her arm. Good lord!!!! Could she be any more cartoonish and manufactured?!?! Not to mention narcissistic?

    • Beebee says:

You know what else? I’m even more irritated now by her blatant fakeness. Here she is accepting the Grammy for 1989 and when she runs to Kendrick Lamar as she makes her way upstage, she’s at her most fake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMCAEUb0h34

That ridiculous face, the insincere display of emotion, so hard to watch anymore. That belonged to Kendrick -everyone knows it.

      • holly hobby says:

Don’t forget her startled “what me?” look open eyes and mouth whenever they called her for an award, That was totally fake!

  19. Ronaldinhio says:

I would guess that they are behind her nervously waiting

they are simply waiting for her to call the play, whatever it is and however it is – and then they will obey

being unable to call your friend out on a poor decision isn’t friendship it is sychophancy

  20. Talie says:

Cara and Gigi are 100% real friends with Kendall Jenner, I believe that. The thing with Taylor is definitely for PR reasons. They were cast for photo-ops, nothing more and nothing less. But, after this, Taylor will probably replace them.

    • Miss M says:

I agree with you. I also think there was a fallout with Karlie Kloss too and it seems she is closer to Gigi than she is to Taytanic these days.

    • CornyBlue says:

Gigi and Kendall are actual real best friends. I can see why she is hesitant. I dont think Cara cares much. She has Suicide Squad coming out and probably does not want to mess up her PR now.

  21. Jane says:

I swear, these people are so histrionic. I think they need this drama to breathe.

  22. ElleBee says:

Serious question guys, what happened to Lorde? Was she only Swift’s friend when she had a hit song?…Oh wait…yes…nvm

Anyone else noticed that Taylor Swift has never tried shading any real female heavy weights in the industry like Beyonce and Rihanna? I would love for her to try it and pick on someone her own size.

    • Don't kill me I'm French says:

Kathy Perry is not a minus

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

This will sound rude but I actually think it’s true: Lorde wasn’t looking good in the photos.

Taylor made a deliberate choice to surround herself with statuesque models and celebrities who are all gorgeous. That was an image choice to make herself look hotter/she had tons of friends.

Quirky semi-gothic Lorde was when Taylor was in her “Guys I’m not prissy and girly, look who I have as a friend!” phase with Lorde and Lena Dunham as the props. Funny how both ladies started to disappear from the pictures as Taylor got more and more models.

      • ElleBee says:

Yup she got “traded up” for taller and blonder, poor girl. Ruby Rose won’t last much longer either since her OITNB star is fading/faded and she doesn’t have the barbie look to sustain her Squad Membership. It’s the aesthetics that matter just look at the Taymerica pictures. All of those women fit a mold.

      • Scal says:

Except she went with Lorde to Coachella and had tons of pictures from that. And whenever Lorde is stateside they hang out and have pictures together (e.g. the met ball). I just think Lorde is recording a new album and didn’t feel like traveling just for a 4th of July party. It seems like she has good people around her who would tell her how dumb that party would be.

      • Tiffany says:

Her relationship with Lena was by association as Taylor was trying to get songs from Lena’s boyfriend, Jack Antonoff. She succeeded and I think just humors Lena at this point.

      • Starkiller says:

“Quirky semi-gothic Lorde” is every bit as fake and manufactured as Taylor Swift.

    • Clare says:

Well, she tried to play with Nikki Minaj and got shut down pretty quick, didn’t she? I seem to remember a tail between legs retreat there.

  23. HappyMom says:

Somewhere Tina Fey and Amy Pohler are smiling.

    • holly hobby says:

Will they be hosting the Golden Globes again? I can’t imagine the fodder they have for that show!

  24. Lucy says:

I’ve always thought that, out of all her squad, only Selena, Lena Dunham and maybe even Ed Sheeran (who also hasn’t said anything, although to be fair he’s been MIA for a while now) were her real friends. There’s also Abigail, of course, but she was there before there was even a squad.

  25. MI6 says:

    Two words: career suicide.

    • Christin says:

Upside: More room on the Taymerica slide next year!

    • Bonzo says:

MI6, my guess is she will go away for while and come back when everything’s settled down. This is what anyone does who pays for good PR advice and it works. I don’t think her career will take a downturn, but I think she is now forced now to rebrand herself since the innocent victim image has been shattered and no one will buy it except her teenybopper fans.

She’s white, pretty, popular, writes catchy songs, has a loyal fanbase and is extremely ambitious. She’ll rise above all this as others have, unfortunately for the world.

      • shelly says:

TBH I think people would have more time for her if she’d been caught buying heroin or something. Its the prissy, victimhood that really p*sses people off.

      • MI6 says:

        Hi Bonzo!
I meant its career suicide to defend her, as Selena recently found out. TayTay could potentially learn from this and come back as Grown Up Barbie, but I am not holding out a great deal of hope at this stage.

  26. Leah says:

Abigail sounds like Mandy Moore’d hilarious character in “Saved”…Hilary Faye! 😂

  27. Sarah says:

All you need to know about Taylor are those obnoxious 4th of July pictures. And what adult woman puts a Fake T tattoo on her arm for her own name?????

Daily, I thank heavens I’m 54 and didn’t grow up with this level of narcissism I see all around me. I feel so badly for my daughter and her friends, who have to deal with this in people their age.

    • dotdotdot says:

ha, my first thought was the same – “t” for taylor – but itÂŽs probably for tom…

    • Erica_V says:

She had a T on her arm. T for Tom, not for her own name.

      • ElleBee says:

The ‘T’ for Tom-her boyfriend of 5 minutes is just as sad tbh

      • Sarah says:

Oh, that makes it better. 🙂 She is a model of how an adult woman should behave after dating someone for two weeks.

  28. bashp says:

oh Boy. It’s not looking good for Taytanic (saw that in a comment above and loved it)!
Her Squad is slowly but surely falling aparat isn’t it?
Even more noteworthy is the whole Zendaya case. Zendaya was part of the squad for a hot minute and on Monday she was likeing tweets from people who stated that they are glad Zendaya left the squad on time.
And then there is the whole FifthHarmony situation.

    • Lynnie says:

What’s up with Fifth Harmony? Are they part of her squad too?

      • LB says:

Dinah’s aunt claims Taylor imprinted on Camilla and it caused friction in the group.

      • Taiss says:

She was only friends with Camilla, now Camilla is doing solo projects(tho she’s still in the group). And she’s like their beyonce lol

      • CornyBlue says:

The really racist one is. Dunno her name.

      • Otaku Fairy says:

Oh crap. I’ve been off-and-on paying attention to Fifth Harmony over the years (talent-wise Dinah Jane is my favorite) but didn’t know one of the girl’s was racist.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

I was wondering what’s happening with her and Fifth Harmony, she latched onto them pretty quick and now to have all this blow up.

      • Flowerchild says:

She had a couple of token girls of color on the squad for a minute until they were no longer of use to her.

    • Alex says:

TBH the only memeber of 5H that is truly part of Taymerica is Camilla. If you see interviews where they ask 5H about taylor you see Camilla gushing…while the rest of the group is side eyeing her HARD.
You can see the videos and GIFs on tumblr but yea they aren’t squad members either

  29. Squiggisbig says:

I mean they all, save Karlie, very quickly defended her when the song first came out only to have all this come out later. Maybe they are just sick of getting snippets of information. I also think that Selena and Abigail are her only legitimate friends in the squad and the rest are largely PR.

  30. Yellowrose says:

    They’re too busy getting tattoos?

  31. iceblast says:

I’m sure Taylor has told all her friends to not say anything to defend her. The one’s that have said something, have all been indirect on the topic.

Taylor knows, that the media would exploit anything her friends say, so it would be better for them not to say anything. Abigail apparently didn’t get the memo.

Now the media is trying to shame her friends into defending her, so they can sell more headlines. They are having a field day with all this.

Everyone should know by now, that Taylor is perfectly capable of defending herself.

    • My Fault Yo says:

I am tired of people not saying anything strongly worded or accurate.

Kanye: I f-ed up with her so I will forever look like an asshole as long as I deal with her (which I am free to not do)

Kim: I want to reap some benefits from this thing that has nothing to do with me and defend my ridiculous husband by releasing HIS phone calls because if he did it, he would still look the way he does – like a rabid dog not letting go of a zombie

Taylor: Yo, if someone called YOU to ask you if they could call you a “bitch” they made famous, what would YOU do? would YOU say “oh no, i don’t LOVE this” or would you say “go for it” and then let them have it, coz hey, i didn’t ask you to come up with this mess, and go defend it not by saying i OKed it, but by saying you MEANT it, which you are on RECORD now saying, you didn’t

    • Flowerchild says:

Really because she had her real friends, boyfriends and the squad defending her for years with no problem. You can’t be that deep in denial to think she didn’t give Abigail the OK as well as music director Guy the OK.

    • Karina says:

Iceblast, I totally agree with everything you said. Abigail, Selena and Joseph Kahn were probably just too furious to let it pass – and that didn’t help. Just more hatred.

      • Flowerchild says:

Too furious to let it pass???? 😂😂😂 so they make racist comments, talk about someone child, compara Talylor to a women that was murdered and abused……

All because their poor little blonde friend got called out for being a lair.

There was nothing to be furious about to begin with.

    • Maire3 says:

“Everyone should know by now, that Taylor is perfectly capable of defending herself. ”

Except she never really had to. Once her loyal fan base got their internet game on, they quickly logged in to shut down any mild criticism of Taylor. I remember reading fans’ OTT response back in 2009 when Wynonna Judd expressed her “Too much too soon” opinion on some CMA awards.

I remember watching the comments explode in 2008 on NPRs post “Hey, Has Anybody Noticed Taylor Swift Can’t Sing?”.
Another NPR post in 2009 after Taylor’s dreadful Grammy duet with Stevie Nicks “A Response To Taylor Swift’s Label: On Tuning, Hating, And Tearing Down”. Seriously, even her label manager, Scott Borchetta is spouting the “jealous much?” logic of a 12year old girl.

You cannot watch this happen without thinking that Taylor & her team were definitely aware of the sheer brute force that her fan base offered. And Twitter hadn’t even taken off!

  32. Lilacflowers says:

The person whose silence most intrigues me and who I would most like to hear from is Rick Rubin

    • TIFFANY says:

Rick Ruben does not need to be involved. Je has seen it all, and is laughing at the weakness of it all.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Actually, if this were to go to court, which it won’t, Ruben would likely be called as a witness by one or both sides. I’m a lot more interested in what he would say than what Taylor, Kenye or any of their synchopants have to say. So far he has said not him to support either of them

      • Isobel says:

According to TMZ Rubin as well as members of the camera crew ba clearly be heard speaking in the full video. why it’s not believable Taylor didn’t know she was being recorded.

    • The Eternal Side-Eye says:

On the same thought but a different angle I wonder how many people have been ‘witness’ to something Taylor’s said or done and that’s why she sometimes gets a chilly reception in celeb circles.

Can’t be the first time someone happened to be in the room while she said one thing and did another.

      • Betti says:

I think her constant leaking to TMZ and sh!t talking about other celebs will have contributed quite largely to how she is viewed in the industry. The list of other famous people she has thrown under the bus has become quite long.

      • Maire3 says:

@Betty. Add to that the vengeful wrath that her loyal fans unleash on the internet causing many to self-censor just to avoid having to ‘clarify’ their remarks or issue public apologies.

    • Alex says:

I feel like I knew the call was real when Kim said he was in the room and didn’t refute the statement. That’s when the nail in the coffin hit for me

      • LB says:

I believed it when Kanya first said and then when Kim mentioned RR. You don’t bring in the name of someone who is so reputed unless it’s true.

As an aside, I love how he’s just chilling on the sofa and not giving a single f about the conversation.

    • Christin says:

Rick is probably missing the days of working with Cash even more. Far less drama.

    • LadyLoo says:

Rick Rubin ain’t got time for this. That man is a music god, he can’t be bothered to deal with this mortal messiness.

  33. Jus says:

Did Jaime King defend TayTay? Because I recall that she was not in RI but thirstily posted something on instagram about Taylor and her son the other day.

  34. als says:

Also not saying anything, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, also in attendance at #Taymerica.

    • Valois says:

I’d eat my hat if Reynolds commented on that. I don’t think he knows Taylor that well (I always thought he was Blake’s +1 at #Taymerica) and I think he knows that he was extremely lucky with Deadpool and getting involved in a controversy like that won’t help him. Also, I could be wrong but I feel like he wants to be an A-lister and getting involved in Taytanic vs Trashtashian isn’t very A-List (A-List as in acting A-List).

As for Blake, I could totally see her talking about that in an interview in a few months but only if Taylor ended up winning this whole thing and only if Blake thought there was something in it for her. Maybe if she has some new lifestyle nonsense going on and Taylor advertized it on instagram etc.

  35. teacakes says:

Real talk though…… is a single person here surprised that Taylor Swift’s childhood BFF is a sanctimonious, hypocritical cow?

Birds of a feather flock together and all.

    • MI6 says:

      😅I was thinking that too

    • LadyLoo says:

Where’s Bonzo (I think) with her quote about water and levels?

      • bonzo says:

Water seeks its own level. Same as birds of a feather. People associate with those they are like or want to be like. You can tell a lot about a person by who they choose to hang out with.

  36. Mira says:

UGH don’t sully Kendricks name with this. he is not part of her squad. He’s collaborated with her on one song probably because his record company told him he would feel more records if he did. I wish he never did, the man is so talented and has something real to say as opposed to most of these idiots and their immature bullshit.

  37. Valois says:

I can see why she’s friends with Taytanic.

  38. OhDear says:

How can the squad defend her honor when she has none?

  39. SK says:

Her friend’s comment was out of line, sanctimonious and a dick move. Don’t bring other people’s children into things like this. However, I do actually think it is damaging to refer to women as “bitches” and “hos” and other derogatory words in songs. I think it’s damaging to have women represented as sex toys or only sexual things as opposed to fully fleshed out people. I think there are genuine issues with lines like this in Kanye’s music and many, many other artists’ music. I just don’t think a bitchy little “prayer” about an artist’s child as a way to deflect from the crappy behaviour of your friend is the way to bring up that particular debate.

    • LadyLoo says:

As others have pointed out, Abigail’s own twitter account has several instances of her using the word ‘bitch.’ She uses it to refer to other women, and I think to herself (by calling one of her handbags her ‘bitch bag’).

  40. CornyBlue says:

Listen if Karlie Kloss pulls a bad move during this feud I will legitimately be upset. I hope she is too good for this shit.

  41. Hannah says:

Hopefully her 45 year old boyfriend can help her mature.

    • seesittellsit says:

35, not 45, and after seeing him with that tee shirt and coming down that slide with her “squad” I wouldn’t hold my breath.

  42. Cat87 says:

Let’s be real, the friends that are defending Miss.Swift are sounding worse than Kim and Kanye and are just adding fuel to bash Taylor.

There is no reason to drag Kanye’s daughter into this mess. She is really just a child and you lower your standards when you do so. Not to mention that Asian director who claim that this isn’t the first time Kim’s family attack a blonde white woman. To be fair, he brought in the racist assumption that just makes Taylor look even worse.

I feel the way people talk about Taylor Swift is also very demeaning to her character. We are talking about a 26 year-old adult not a child by no means. If Taylor had real friends they would tell her to take the high road or get relentlessly drag due to your own foolish pride nature. Question does Taylor have real friends? We all know Kanye doesn’t give a ish.

  43. B says:

Can someone please ask Blake Lively what she thinks about this???

    Please god.. Hear my prayer

  44. holly hobby says:

And who is Abigail Anderson to be exact? I don’t recall that name from anywhere. Shame on her for bringing a child into this fight.

  45. Shayla44 says:

am I the only one who thinks KK comes off as a bit of snake herself. TS got caught at her own pity party game but…. I think KK bit off more than she can chew on this one. Do you not think other A-listers are going to be wary of KK and KW from now on wondering what they will pull to keep themselves “relevant”?

  46. Nancy says:

Poor Abigail is such a lap dog. Bless her heart……

  47. LadyLoo says:

Probably said before (I’m going back to read all the comments), but it’s because they’re her ‘squad’ not her ‘friends.’

    • LadyLoo says:

Also, they may be waiting for Tay’s checks to clear…and for her publicist to write the tweets/IG posts.

  48. Argirl says:

Nothing like passive aggressive public praying to show loving devotion to Christ. Haha

  49. Marianne says:

Or maybe they saw the crap Selena and Abigail were getting and decided to stay out of it? Or maybe their PR reps told them to stay out of it? Who knows. We dont know all the facts yet.

  50. bonzo says:

    .

  51. Veronica says:

What are they going to say? I’ve seen friends f*ck up and didn’t defend them because sometimes you just can’t. This is a PR headache for everyone involved. Taylor knows how the game is played. I’m sure she understand exactly why they’re keeping mum on the subject.

    • K.C. says:

Yeah…I mean of course you want to stand by your friend, but if they messed up and you know it, there’s not much you can do other than talk them through it. Spouting your opinion to the world won’t help matters. Better to just keep your head down and hope your friend figures out their mess.

    • Jess says:

Exactly. Taylor probably told her “friends” to stfu and stay quiet until she comes up with a plan of attack.

Her dumb friend should of just kept quiet and supported her BFF in private instead of dragging Kanye’s kids into it, further making this a giant PR mess. The kids are completely innocent in all of this.

  52. jd says:

    Fabigail is the best.

  53. FF says:

Dunno why people think this is going to damage the Taytanic. People are way too invested in the innocent white girl narrative socially for it to do real damage.

They’ll wait until, Kimye f-up elsewhere and load on them then.

They’ll be more wary of Taylor (and the people who were ALWAYS wary of Taylor will feel vindicated) but nothing more will happen unless she either compounds it with something else – like a really acrimonious split with Hiddles – or a more “authentic” career rival turns up who fits the trope better.

People like denial and if they’re already sipping the Tay-Aid they’ll keep going because of the level of investment.

  54. na na says:

I was actually almost bullied in school… but once I showed that silly female that just cos I was smaller and quiet that i was not to be treated like a slave she backed off fast and we actually became friends.
