Tom Hiddleston & Taylor Swift had a date night in Santa Monica last night

wenn28667073

Tom Hiddleston flew back to LA on Tuesday night after spending a few days in New York for some unknown reason. Taylor Swift was in Nashville for a few days too, although no one knows why. There were stories yesterday about how Tom had returned to LA to spend time with Taylor Swift, that The Glorious Tiddlebanging of 2016 was still happening, that any rumors of Tom’s reticence were not true. I was suspicious. But as it turns out, the Tiddlebanging is still happening, at least according to People Mag’s sources/witnesses (Taylor’s publicist?).

Summer lovin’ is going strong for Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston. The couple were spotted at Hillstone restaurant in Santa Monica, California on Wednesday. Hiddleston, 35, reunited with Swift, 26, following his Kong: Skull Island panel at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday.

“They were tucked away in the second floor of the restaurant,” a source tells PEOPLE. “They seemed to really be enjoying each others’ company.”

Another source shares: “Tom drove them to the restaurant. They held hands and looked very happy. Taylor was pretty in a black top and skirt.”

[From People]

I left in the “each others’ company” mistake (it should be “each other’s company”) because I suspect that People Mag just cut-and-pasted from an email sent from someone on Taylor’s team. Taylor wants you to know that Tom hasn’t bolted. Taylor wants you to know that they’re still having intimate date nights, likely involving fudge and swan pastries. Taylor wants you to know that Tom is a gentleman who acts as her chauffeur. Taylor wants you to know that she looked pretty.

Of course he came back-the special ankle monitor, I mean bracelet she gave him will deliver a fatal shock if he’s more than five feet away from her for longer than 48 hours.

    • Lilly says:

I bet it’s bedazzled with love hearts and unicorns…

    • Sixer says:

But what if it is the other way around? What if SHE is wearing the special ankle monitor/bracelet because HE loves the attention that much he is terrified she’ll take fright at the laughter and bin him?

I don’t see why one is more likely than the other.

      • Bonzo says:

Did they give the hot bodyguards the night off??

      • spidey says:

Perhaps Tom told the bodyguards to shove off.

      • Ducky La Rue says:

@Sixer – I noticed a similar narrative was used by some people for Brangelina – it was always “poor Brad” who was trapped by Angelina, that she controlled everything he did, that she sucked the hot out of him, etc. etc.

Now, I see similar comments while watching Taylor and Tom play out in the press, and there’s a hefty dose of “poor Tom”, who is somehow a hapless victim at the mercy of Taylor.

It’s interesting to watch the commentary, to say the least.

      • cyn says:

        Bahahahaha!

      • Lyla Lotus says:

I wouldn’t say that was as likely at all, given Taylor’s track record.

      • Christin says:

Maybe they have matching ones (similar to those halved heart necklaces).

Nothing says love like a mutual tracking device.

      • Sixer says:

Don’t get me wrong – I’m not suggesting it’s more likely to be Swift trying to make a getaway than it is LEGS. But it seems to me that it’s equally likely. They’re both attention hungry. They both manipulate their respective fandoms with aggressive image promotion.

It just seems that the PR approach to this affair has backfired on them both – unintended consequences and all that. I’m sure we were all supposed to be gushing that the American beauty had found her English prince and it was all intended to have a Grace Kelly narrative or something. Instead, we all pissed our pants laughing at them. It’s all very “computer says no”.

Maybe one of them IS trying to make as dignified an exit as possible. Could be either of them. Maybe they are BOTH trying to shut it the heck down as gracefully as possible. Maybe they do like each other enough to carry on the relationship but will dial back the Hallmark and go a bit dark in the hopes that will make us stop laughing.

Who knows? But I don’t see why LEGS is the only possibility for a hostage situation here.

ETA: Christin – HA! YES! Mutually assured destruction!

      • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

I think you’re right on the money again, Sixer. They were probably expecting to be welcomed by an adoring public, and were taken aback at the laughter and derisive comments.

And thanks for the Little Britain reference – I loved that show!!!

      • Wren says:

It’s not all that novel of a concept. Poor innocent (grown ass 35 year old) man ensnared by cunning female who sucks all the life and handsomeness out of him with her demands and feminine wiles. Because women are vile temptresses who ruin perfectly good men for their own amusement, and said good men are powerless to resist. Aren’t some major religions based on this idea?

      • Sixer says:

Wren – in which case, I think we should make up some happy and humorous fantasies about Swifty hi-jinxing it from LEGS as he runs after her begging her to wait and shouting “BUT I WAS IN THE DAILY MAIL EVERY DAY! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE TAYLOR! I COULDN’T BEAR IT IF IT ALL STOPPED!”

      • shelly says:

I do believe they are a genuine couple, but I also agree the hoots of derision they got from some of the ill advised, candid PDA’s must have come as a terrible shock.

The old fashioned love story narrative just isn’t going over too well, and while they are entitled to carry on anyway they like, the fact is they did bring this on themselves.

Its hard to imagine what life must be like living through the prism of constant publicity even if you court it, when it goes wrong you’d have to be cringing a bit on the inside.

To carry on Sixer’s little Britain comparison, Taylor and Tom as Lou and Andy, Tom in the wheelchair pointing at Redmaynes career.
        ‘Want that one’

      • Sixer says:

Oh, Shelly. I can’t stop laughing! That’s exactly how I see poor old LEGS!

      • Bonzo says:

*pouts in corner over Little Britain reference that went over her head*

Sixer, think you’re spot on with the intended narrative of “America’s Sweetheart finding her British Prince” and between the OTT lovefest that many didn’t believe in, the ensuring laughter over the World Tour & Taymerica party, Calvin punching back re: the Riri song and the Snapchats, that narrative never caught on in the media.

I think TIDDLES is real and they’re going all the way to the alter. Now that they’re on the gossip radar, they’re correcting their overexposure and going to make a case that they’re the legit by letting these quieter sightings speak for themselves. Then they’ll come back with a bang at the Emmys.

      • Sixer says:

Course correction does seem most likely, doesn’t it?

Also, I think real or not real is a bit of a red herring. Firstly – it’s not a binary; it’s a spectrum. Some people are very happy in their arranged marriages, for example. Secondly, they work in – and are enthusiastic devotees of – industries in which “what can they do for me and my profile?” is probably an actual factor in deciding to whom one is or isn’t attracted. They probably think that’s normal!

If you look up Andy and Lou on YouTube, you’ll see what we mean. The schtick is that everyone assumes Andy, the disabled guy, will be the stupid one but in fact he is pulling all the strings of his carer, Lou.

      • Bonzo says:

        Spectrum indeed.

Just watched a few Andy & Lou clips on YouTube… no longer sulking now that I can get the joke!

  2. Mrs. Welen-Melon says:

If they ate spaghetti in the same manner as the two dogs in Disney’s “Lady and the Tramp”, while an older Italian gentleman played romantic accordion music … Well, my life would be complete.

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

Ok this is the scenario that will complete my life, please Captain Jean Luc Picard “Make it so”

    • lilacflowers says:

That may have happened on the Rome trip. Or during the visit to the Italian restaurant in Australia.

  3. Steph says:

“Taylor was pretty in a black top and skirt.” lol
    Oh TayTay never change.

  4. anon456 says:

There’s a photo of this dinner so it’ s not made up by People, although People was very much on it (in contact with Taylor’s people) since the article was posted like 20 minutes after the photo made it to the internet.

The DM has also photos from yesterday of Hiddleston running back at the hotel were he is staying, the same one he left on Sunday. and Taylor going or leaving the gym.

    • PatriotsPower27 says:

Ugh…I hate that I know this and that I’m completely consumed by this but Taylor lives close to that hotel, so believe his run started from her house. They’re trying to keep paps away from her home…

      • anon456 says:

Someone made a comparison of the photos with the exterior of the hotel and Tom is basically at the entrance of the Four Seasons he was staying at until Sunday.

As for the paps, what you say makes no sense, if the paps spotted him before the hotel they would just have followed him back to her house. A photo of him entering her place would sell much better than one of him near the hotel.

      • Jojo says:

I don’t get why it would matter either way, like why is him staying at a hotel nearby a big thing even if he is?? I think some hiddleston fans, or hiddleswift naysayers are so desperate to find a crack in this, or possible proof the relationship isn’t real that they are jumping on, and holding on to the smallest of things…

      • Whatabout says:

        @patriots
Taylor’s house nearby is under major renovation. She’s not living there. It’s completely tented. Her other house is farther out and into the hills.

      • Luca76 says:

Honestly I agree with jojo he could be renting a hotel room and it doesn’t really shine any light on the state of their relationship. Maybe he’s just using the hotel to conduct business meetings which I’ve heard other celebrities do even if they do have houses in LA.

      • anon456 says:

@Jojo First of all I was replying to someone, which is good manners. Second I wasn’t making a big thing or stating that because I believe something to be real it’s real (like you love to do), I was just adding infos to the post, which generally happens in these threads. Or was I supposed to ask for your permission before I did that?

I also pointed out that there was photos evidence proving that they actually had dinner together, but of course you only focused on the one thing that didn’t suit your Swiftie scenario.

      • Jojo says:

@anon I’m sorry if you took my comment as an attack , it honestly wasn’t meant that way. English isn’t my first language so maybe I was more forceful than was meant … Not everything comes across how well it was meant written.

I’m a believer yeah , I like seeing people happy, but if calling me a ‘swifte’ was meant as a bad thing I won’t see it as one, even though I wouldn’t call myself that . I’m much more a Tom fan, but I do have 1989 on my iTunes, and I’m not ashamed of that . I’m Taylor’s age myself, and though I don’t agree with a lot about her , I don’t have none of the hate many seem too.

      • jammypants says:

@Jojo: ” I think some hiddleston fans, or hiddleswift naysayers are so desperate to find a crack in this, or possible proof the relationship isn’t real that they are jumping on, and holding on to the smallest of things…”

it’s been evident for a while

    • Jojo says:

the daily fail has nothing about where he is running, whether it be the hotel, or not, and according to tumblr/twitter hes running around taylors neighbourhood…

      • anon456 says:

Except that he wasn’t running, in the photos in question he was walking, something a runner does at the end of his daily training.

      • Dara says:

The running photos were taken a few miles from Taylor’s neighborhood. Her house is up in the hills, where there are steep, narrow streets, and very few sidewalks. He may have run from her house to the hotel – that would have been an easy distance for him.

There’s also a perfectly good canyon park not far from her house, with walking and running trails galore, but if he’d gone there the only witnesses to the run would have been the rattlesnakes, and they generally don’t take photographs.

      • MaybeLater says:

@Jojo Tumblr said he’s running near her house? What Swiftie obsessed page was that from?

      • Becky says:

Jojo, in one of the DM pics it says he’s running in West Hollywood, that’s nearer to the Four Seasons than Taylor’s house which is up in the hills, as Dara pointed out.

      • Bonzo says:

Dara, don’t forget the trail runners… They usually have their cellphones with them.

  5. LinaLamont says:

STOP SAYING “couple, pair, any other singular entity” WERE!

    That’s my rant. Carry on.

    • Sixer says:

      I second that emotion.

      • Bonzo says:

Sixer, I’ve found my bingeworthy TV show: The OutLaws, the show that’s being featured on WP. Only two episodes are up currently, but I’m hooked!

      • LinaLamont says:

        Thank you.

      • Sixer says:

Finally, Bonzo got some summer viewing! Funnily enough, I have got into an older US show – prison drama Oz, which I never saw first time round. Loads of my faves in their younger days.

Lina – it’s a tin foil on your teeth thing, isn’t it?

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Sixer, oh, my God! OZ! Or, 1,000 Ways to Die! Phenomenal cast: Eamonn Walker, Adewale, Simmons, Harold Perrineau, Aidan Gillan, Lance Reddick, BD Wong, Chris Meloni, Joel Grey, Patti Lupone, Betty Buckley, Queen Rita Moreno (how is this NOT a musical?). LOVED OZ!

      • phaedra7 says:

@Bonzo. Is this the scifi-western series where the cowboys who were feuding got zapped by lightning (they were standing in the middle of a Native American burial ground) and was transported to the 20th century? If this show is the same one, I remember it, too.

Btw, People Mag does their own type of click-baiting as well. They make up even clothing–“this is what they were wearing”–info for Tom-thentic and TClingy. The online report showed a past pic of her with a floral print, low-cut dress.

      • Sixer says:

Lilac – I am really, really, really enjoying it. I think Sky Atlantic basically bought the entire HBO back catalogue and every now and again they put on a vintage show late at night. But of course, I’ve never seen before!

      • Bonzo says:

Sixer, I’ve got Oz on my watchlist after people raved about it last year during Simmon’s Oscar campaign. I just haven’t been ready for prison drama yet. I needed something a little bit lighter.

phaedra7, the show I’m hooked on is actually a Belgian black comedy thriller that I watch on Walter Presents which features box sets of drama from around the world.

      • Sixer says:

Is it funny? I’ve been humming and haaing over whether or not to watch it.

      • Bonzo says:

It’s not slap yer thigh, throw yer head back and laugh funny but has snort/snigger moments with the nearly bankrupt insurance salesmen trying to prove that Bubba’s death was no accident.

    • lilacflowers says:

      Motion carried!

    • Lucrezia says:

I’ll dissent. Depends on whether you’re speaking of two people or talking of a couple as a singular unit.

“The couple was asked to pay $10 entry” = the couple paid $10 in total.

“The couple were asked to pay $10 entry” = both members of the couple paid $10 ($20 in total).

Both of those work, and the grammar is doing its job in conveying the two different meanings.

Therefore, “the couple were spotted” must also be grammatically correct (assuming the writer was indeed thinking of them as two separate people).

      • Sixer says:

        I double down the dissent!

“The couple” in this case denotes a unit. The couple was spotted as a couple – together – and reported on as such. The couple here is singular.

      • LinaLamont says:

        @Lucrezia

“Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not to his own facts:”
        attributed to Daniel Patrick Moynihan

Unless and until the grammar gods accept it as correct/proper, it just ain’t so.

      • Sixer says:

The difference is: only ever one couple but either one or two $10.

      • Lilacflowers says:

“Couple” uses the singular form of the verb.

      • Lucrezia says:

I was more complaining about the idea that it’s a flat rule than about this particular case.

But let me try another example. “The couple were spotted in New York. Tom was seen at the shoe-store and Taylor was caught sneaking into the reptile house.” That’s correct. You couldn’t say “was” and refer to them as a single unit because they weren’t both at the store and the zoo, they were in New York but in separate places.

Similarly, if they were both spotted at the restaurant, on different days? You’d use “were” to indicate the time lag.

Then it starts to become subjective. What if the spotter noticed one, then the other? You could still use “were” to indicate the time lag. (This might also apply if you had photos of them entering or leaving separately – a fairly common practice from celebs who want to devalue pap shots.)

What I’m quibbling over is the absolutely certainty that the writer meant the singular form of the verb and screwed up. That is only your assumption, the way you would’ve told the story. You’re not in their head and you don’t have the original quote from the spotter, so how can you tell whether this specific use of couple was plural or singular? I’m 99% sure you’re right and the writer screwed up … but there is a chance that (for some reason) really did mean to convey the sense of two separate people and you’re just ignoring that chance.

    • M.A.F. says:

I’m loving the grammar discussion more than the actual topic.

      • BluBare-E says:

Me too. We got us some mind bender grammar samurais around here.

      • LinaLamont says:

I’m no expert. I just know when something’s patently wrong (it’s about basic grammar). AND, I would never correct other posters’ grammar, here…. but, so-called journalists are fair game.  As Sixer said, (to use the American version) like nails on a blackboard.  Also, we all make typos and so does autocorrect.

Don’t even get me started about using subjects as objects!
When did “me”, “her”, “him” become 4-letter words?

    • supposedtobeworking says:

TO BE is an irregular verb, so it makes sense there is confusion.

“WAS is used in the FIRST and THIRD PERSON SINGULAR past. It is used for statements of fact.

WERE is used in the SECOND PERSON SINGULAR and PLURAL and FIRST and THIRD PERSON PLURAL. It is used in the subjunctive mood to indicate unreal or hypothetical statements. The words if and wish usually indicate the subjunctive mood.”
      -Writing Explained website

Third person plural pronouns are “they,” “them” and “their.”

      • Sixer says:

No subjunctive happening here, though. The couple WAS definitely at the restaurant. Nobody was suggesting that if the couple WERE to be at the restaurant then Taylor would be paying the bill, for example.

It’s one couple. It’s a simple sentence in the past tense in which the (singular) couple is the object. Passive construction but not in the subjunctive. And in the passive because the person who did the spotting is not named.

  6. kittenhotel says:

I guess their lawyers extended their contract for another 4 weeks?

Since everyone knows they will be breaking up as soon as possible.

    • cherrypie says:

Not only that Kitten, now they are trying to coy and “private” when they have been on such a publicity campaign for the last couple of weeks.

  7. Brunswickstoval says:

I love DListed’s description of his face in these photos. “Screaming internally”. So accurate.

    • Aussie girl says:

Screaming internally, crying from the inside, smiling through the tears…..ha!!!! It must be hard on Tay Tay to keep him admits all the drama. She must be trying Lingerie and new (most probably bland) sex positions to try keep him interested.

    • OhDear says:

I thought he was about to cry in that picture that DListed had as their lead photo in yesterday’s post.

  8. PatriotsPower27 says:

A ” fan” got pics of the dinner, so I guess they’re still Tiddlesbanging: http://it-feels-like-a-perfect-night.tumblr.com/post/148082369966/hiddleswifts-i-crossed-out-the-persons-name

I know that I’m in the minority on here but I think this relationship is real. Hopefully all this backlash from the gossip circles will can convince Taylor to get some chill in her personal life. Elaine Lui gave a great summary about this whole thing to Slate. I firmly trust Lainey’s assessment since she’s seldom wrong.

    • Jojo says:

Your not alone, i think its real too, and i’ll go one further and say i’m rooting for them to work out.

    • shelly says:

I’ve said it before, I also think this is real.

Also I would imagine that the more people question it, the more determined they’ll be to make it work.

      • Jojo says:

totally agree, it brings into the relationship a kind of us against the world sense.

      • Sophie says:

Same here. I hope the tiddlesbanging goes on FOREVER.

      • I think it’ real, but man, they TOTALLY OVERPLAYED THEIR HAND in the beginning. You can almost feel them trying to “tone it down” now that Kim K has produced the receipts. A day late and a dollar short, but at least we don’t have to watch him embarrass himself with set-up shots in a terrible t-shirt. And yes, this article in People is totally staged. I guess that’s Taylors version of keeping it low key.

    • Luca76 says:

Yeah I think it’s real. I also think they are very similar people in a weird way so I get the feeling they will last. They obviously both like the attention.

      • BluBare-E says:

See, I can accept it might be real now or as real as a celebrity PR relationship can be. But I don’t see them as similar or even weirdly similar at all. Yes the have weirdly similar circumstances and life style in common as they’re show biz celebrities, but all other likenesses are very broad stroke comparisons. These two are Not alike in so many ways nor do they seem “realistically” compatible for any long term *normal relationship. The thing that throws common estimations about this couple out the window is their celebrity.

Most famous people have a very hard time sustaining relationships cause of the nature of the business, their egos and just the time it takes to get to know someone in a natural and regular environment. So celebs unfortunately don’t usually make the best romantic decisions as to who they are involving their selves with. Because of all the distance apart from working, it usually takes a while to see this or the initial (weak) bond goes away.

With that said. I believe some celebs, like maybe Tom, realize the hazards of their profession and decide to have a go at what ever comes along that seems worth the trouble and try to make the best of it. That’s very much Tom’s outlook on life, to make the best out of a less than ideal situation and try to be a happy person. I’m not saying he’s made honorable decisions, but in his position, maybe they were reasonable for him (not just PR) despite the backlash. That includes continuing on with TS until the relationship comes to its natural end (hopefully soon – & not cause I don’t like TS).

    • K.C. says:

I still think it’s real, too. I suspect ESPECIALLY since Taylor has been dealing with some professional backlash lately, she’ll take some time to focus on her personal life. I also just happen to think they’re a good match.

People keep saying if she sticks to her usual schedule, she’ll release an album this fall. That hardly seems like a break to me, given she was touring up until not very long ago. Maybe this time around she’ll switch it up—her friends are apparently settling down and getting engaged, so maybe she thinks it’s time to follow suit and relax for a couple years. I think it would do her image a lot of good to just…chill.

      • Zav says:

That is what they are trying to do.. to show the world its legit and they are happy.. PR manipulation. A couple more dates like this and more ppl will believe.. I still think its a cover up but who knows. Only them and their PR team would know the truth.

      • popup says:

@Zav PR and real are not mutually exclusive.

      • Bonzo says:

She won’t be releasing an album this fall. There’s a lot that goes into that process and we’d know if she was recording it. I thought both Calvin & she said she was planning to take a long break after the last tour. That seems to be the case from her schedule since then.

Tom is her current project and along with songwriting is enough to keep her “busy”.

    • Bonzo says:

I love reading Lainey’s take on celebrity gossip and the bigger factors at play. I have a similar fascination with the Psychology of Celebrity, but can’t multi-task or focus on more than a few celebs… ha. I too much life outside of CB, DL & LG!

For those interested, here’s the link to her interview with Slate:

      http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_factor/2016/07/27/lainey_gossip_s_elaine_liu_explains_her_views_on_taylor_swift_beyonc_rihanna.html

    • Zav says:

@popup Do explain? i dont understand

    • Elisa the I. says:

Oh my, this pic makes them look so normal and not glamorous at all. They are just like us! It works! 😛

  9. AlleyCat says:

I always think back on that restaurant in Australia who claimed that Taylor’s team wouldn’t allow them to say anything about her and Tom unless it was to say she was really nice and really pretty. I’m sure other celebs do this too but it really goes to show how far they go to project their image.

Her hair is just sooooo bad. The color and style just ruins any of her outfits.

    • K.C. says:

Wait, what? I don’t recall this story. Interesting.

    • lilacflowers says:

She has bad hair. She has always had bad hair. She will always have bad hair. This is actually one of her better hair looks.

      • AlleyCat says:

@Lilacflowers no way! I loved her hair when she had it long and straight with bangs. I also liked her hair right after she first cut it short. It’s this past year that was god awful.

      • K.C. says:

Ever since the Grammys it has been a disaster. Shoulder-length was very cute on her. Shorter than that makes her look like Runway Barbie.

      • jammypants says:

Her hair looked a lot healthier when it’s her natural shade of blonde. This bleached mess is like tumbleweed in the desert, rolling across Trumps forehead.

    • Grey says:

She has the exact same haircut as my 5 year old niece. I can’t unsee it.

  10. guest says:

@grabbyhands I love hiddleswift no matter what but your comment made me laugh. oh the picture in my head lol

  11. CidySmiley says:

This couple is getting annoying. Also People’s obvious pay day via Taylor Swift is getting annoying. All of her people ‘reports’ are not reports.
“Taylor had dinner with Tom Hiddleston!!”
“Taylor walked the beach with Calvin Harris!”
“Taylor held hands with Tom Hiddleston!”
They are not even full articles, they are just like this all of them: “Taylor looked cute and in love in *insert bland outfit here*” that’s it. She makes it so obvious that she is sending them an email and a check. At least hide it better!

    • shelly says:

Indeed, give us something to work with..

‘ Taylor hobbled in, bandy legged after a vigorous bout of Tiddleshagging, she looked pretty in her baggy yoga pants as she lowered herself, gingerly into a nearby chair’

    • Grace says:

@ Shelly I so happen like your warped imagination.

  12. Nina says:

    “They held hands”
    who would have guessed?

    • Zav says:

just to make sure ppl know okaaayyy…

    • Little Darling says:

My son and I saw a couple on separate motorcycles at a red light holding hands. My son looked at me and rolled his eyes. I get the impression Tom and Taylor would be that couple. The couple who holds hands while waiting on line. The couple who hold hands while they jog, Across the table. Grocery shopping.

    • jammypants says:

Between this and Daily Mail, next thing you know, they’ll report Tom wears new socks, and Taylor *shock* repeats items of clothing. Talk about digging at the bottom of the barrel.

  13. cakecakecake says:

I came in laughing before I even read anything, and the way People magazine lays it on is so corny. “Summer lovin” -eyeroll. All I can do is laugh my head off, smdh. Tom’s smile makes me giggle too.

  14. K.C. says:

I saw a fan photo of them out at this restaurant—given that People uses “sources” such as people who stalk Taylor’s home (as they did for her Fourth of July party), I can’t help but wonder if this really is from her “team” or just an eyewitness from the restaurant. That incident made me question just how in they actually are with Taylor’s team. I think we might be giving them too much credit, honestly. I don’t think their sources are as insider as they’d lead readers to believe.

    • Luca76 says:

Yeah I think the girl tweeted a sighting then was contacted immediately by People. Not to say they didn’t know they’d be spied but I don’t think this was really an insider account.

    • Evie says:

@K.C. Please, NO ONE stalked Tay-Tay’s Fourth of July party. Her Westerly, RI home sits on top of a hill near a public beach. She and her squad and the paps were out in full force to record the events. If you look at the pictures you’ll notice the locals in the background going about their business or being kept at bay by bodyguards. Truthfully, it’s more accurate to say Tay-Tay and her squad took over the beach for awhile.

Taylor did have a stalker who showed up at her Rhode Island mansion a few days after the Fourth of July party after she had departed for Rome. The police arrested the man who was delusional and thought Taylor should marry him.

      • MaybeLater says:

Yeppers the “source” isn’t a 16-year-old that was contacted on twitter by People. It’s Taylor’s PR person. And we know this because this article reads like every article ever written about TayTay. Only the die-hard Swifties refuse to acknowledge it like everyone else.

      • K.C. says:

@MaybeLater I’m not a diehard Swiftie, and I’m sure there are plenty of articles generated by her PR. But I’m basing this off of an incident that happened between People and a fan of hers earlier this month. At that point I began doubting they work closely with Swift’s team at all, otherwise they wouldn’t need to chat up a fan standing outside her house.

I’ve noticed many consistently underplay just how much is spun from journalists’ minds. Taylor’s PR team doesn’t need to pitch every single story written about her on the Internet and provide quotes—writers on celebrity gossip sites do that for them. Tabloids fabricate stories all the time based on what will get clicks.

      • Luca76 says:

KC is right because this sort of thing has happened with a lot of other celebrities.( One I’ve noticed is Jen Aniston and I’m not really a fan of hers.)A person spots a celebrity posts about it on social media and then is immediately contacted by People magazine. People then writes up a glowing account to suck up to the PR of the celeb. If it was Star or In Touch they might instead the couple looked tense or distant.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I do remember that several media entities like People were collecting info from people out on the beach or street and encouraging them to report more.

      • K.C. says:

@Luca you’ve got that right about sucking up to PR. Lower-end tabloids have no problem writing negative (usually false) stories because they don’t usually deal with actual PR from big stars. Publications like People want to be considered if/when a couple decides to formally announce an engagement/provide exclusive wedding photos, etc. It’s up to bidding at that point, but at least they’ve established to PR that they’re interested and support whoever the couple is.

      • Alex says:

Nah KC is right. While Taylor’s PR people would definitely write something like this (and probably did) People mag has a stupid reputation of using twitter as a “source”. Its happened to Jen Aniston (as someone else said) and JLaw in more recent memory. Two people “spotted” Jen out with Chris Martin in central park on a weekend (sans pictures of course) and they spun an entire story out of it that was like bad fanfiction because again twitter is not a good source. Taylor had someone outside her house during the 4th (not for the first time) and definitely could’ve been People’s source. They done this many many times and spun full articles off a tweet or two. Its amazing really.

    • K.C. says:

@Evie there was a young woman who hung around outside her house for hours and People contacted her via Twitter after they saw her “reports” of what was going on in Taylor’s backyard (not the events on the beach—she was watching what was happening up at the house). The girl confirmed herself that they reached out to her. Perhaps “stalk” is too strong of a word, but she certainly wasn’t just a local going about her business. She was there to get a view of the party, and People (IMO, inappropriately) encouraged it.

Even if parts of her house are in view of the public, I don’t think it’s normal for people to watch and report back to Twitter from afar. I don’t just stare in at people’s backyards just because they have a low fence, you know?

      • popup says:

Right, that young woman was parked outside her house taking dimly lit videos of the karaoke and flipping her giblets over it. I think that counts as stalking, in the loose sense of the word.

      • Evie says:

@K.C. Yes, I heard about that girl. Technically she’s not a stalker since she didn’t get close and hasn’t been following Tay-Tay around. I do agree that taking the pictures like that is creepy and obsessive. Back in the Beatles heyday they all had a group of dedicated fans who hung around their houses day and night. They were known as “Apple Scruffs.” Paul McCartney who was a handsome lad in his 20s was the chief target of their attention. They knew all his movements and even where he kept the spare key to his house. A few of them got it, and went in wandering around taking little souvenirs. Somehow they managed NOT to get caught. They also told Paul they could peer in and watch him on the toilet!!! Some of them even made the trek to his out of the way farm in Scotland.

These days it’s unfortunately all too common for people to become obsessed with celebrities. Social media, Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter etc. make the celebs easier targets. OTOH, Taylor’s celebrity is of such a magnitude that her presence “in the neighborhood” is frequently disruptive to the locals or “just plain folk.” When she moved into her NYC condo, for example, several of the other tenants moved out because they didn’t like all the commotion and attention that follows Tay-Tay wherever she goes. So it cuts both ways.

  15. Jojo says:

Did anyone see Cara D on James Corden ? The story about the 4th of July?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pU2GuDlpolQ

    • popup says:

Very cute. But hilarious in that it does really seem like a 12 year old’s slumber party.

Most importantly, she had an interesting choice of words: “Taylor and Tom” this, “Taylor and Tom” that. She was staying at Taylor’s house, not “Taylor and Tom’s” house. Since I’m a Hiddleswift believer, this makes me smile and reaffirms the legitimacy of their relationship.

Someone referenced Slate’s interview with Lainey somewhere above, and in that interview, Lainey said she also believed it’s real because you can’t contain all the wildcards to keep a secret of a fake relationship, Cara being one of those wildcards who’ll do and say whatever the hell SHE wants.

      • Jojo says:

Yeah i agree how she worded it was very telling, especially how she told ‘taylor and tom’ because of security, and how ‘taylor and tom were woken up’… I;m a believer too, and i agree with Lainey, if it was all set up there would have been a slip up by now…

      • lilacflowers says:

But Cara would also be aware that James and Tom have known each other for years and the whole bit started out with James complaining that he wasn’t invited so she’s pulling the person James knows into the story.

      • K.C. says:

I like this story because it indicates her Fourth bash isn’t as fake as some make it out to be. I mean yes, it is undeniable that the photographs are highly organized, as are the social media releases. But I mean, Uzo slept over her house? That’s very interesting to me, considering some dismiss her her Taylor’s fake token black friend. Also interesting that Kesha was there and we didn’t hear about it. I guess Taylor’s hefty donation to her case was more than just a stunt.

I feel like oftentimes, celebrities (just like all of us) present a very curated image through social media, and people want to write that off as being false. But I don’t particularly get that argument, as I do the same thing when I go out with friends and post on social later.

      • jammypants says:

I believe they’re really dating too. The conspiracy theories just sound way too elaborate, which, to me, is a form of denial. It could actually be that simple that they are dating and don’t care they are being gawked at. They probably flew under the radar of late because of how obnoxious the paps and press are being over the two of them dating.

      • K.C. says:

@jammypants Same. The mental gymnastics involved in making these conspiracy theories is bizarre to me. I’d like to think actors and musicians don’t spend their days plotting and planning to such an extent. I’m not naive—I know the celebrity world is all about image control and that there’s a lot of behind-the-scenes scheming, complete with staged photo-ops and the like. But I don’t think a relationship that had a bit of heavy-handed PR in the beginning means it’s fake—it just means Tom and Taylor wanted to reveal their relationship in a certain way.

  16. guest says:

some girl tweeted that she made an eye contact with him and it made her 16th b day and she almost fell from chair cause his eyes were so dreamy!
and she also saw the side of his gf’s head.

  17. seesittellsit says:

Real or not, this one is going down the line to the altar. Hiddles is cornered, in more ways than one, for whatever reason (she said). It’s time. He needs it, even if he wanted out, which he doesn’t. The appearance of his Mum and niece early on in the “We’re Going Public” campaign should have been the first clue. I would bet a months’ salary on her showing up at the Emmys with a ring.

    • Sue says:

But why? Why rushing things like that? It isn´t healthy and it´s unwise and it doesn´t matter if they are just an ordinary couple or celebrities. Because her BFFs did settle down? Because his friends in London settled down? Do they both feel the urge to settle immediately? Ok, this will hit almost every one at some time during the life. But how in the world did they get the idea that they should settle down together and so fast (if this is for real)?

      • jammypants says:

No one knows what their plans are. People are just making things up at this point.

    • Bonzo says:

seesittellsit, I see that happening. Her friends are getting married and in the past 10 years she’s accomplished a lot professionally, so it would be a natural progression for someone at her place in life. I’ve seen this with plenty of women I’ve known, where the desire for marriage increases in their late 20’s, often when their friends are starting to settle down.

While she’s taking time off from recording & touring it would be a good time to focus on her personal life. Tom, having sown his wild oats, may also be ready to settle down now that he’s hit the jackpot with the a mega famous, filthy rich pop princess.

Not that I think their marriage will last, but I won’t be surprised if they’re engaged soon and married before she releases another album.

      • Lilacflowers says:

I find the “time to settle down now because I’ve checked all my career boxes and all my friends have gotten married” marriages rarely make it to 10 years. But, of course, they usually have had a few kids by that point they can screw up in the divorce.

      • Bonzo says:

Most of my friends are still happily married after 10 years, but the ones that aren’t, never made it to the 10 year mark.

It’s so rare that anyone in the HW machine manages to stay coupled to the same person until old age. Those who do (Hanks/Wilson, Kurt/Goldie, Parker/Broderick, Denzel/Pauletta, Colin/Livia, Kevin/Kyra) seem to lead pretty low-key lives and don’t court publicity outside of their work projects. I put little faith in any coupling in which they seek attention outside of their work/charity in having a union that will last. To me, that desire for attention (control) will cause the relationship to self-implode eventually.

      • lilacflowers says:

Ah, but are they still married because they met someone with whom they were truly compatible and loved and willing to share life’s path no matter how difficult that path may be OR were they just latching onto whatever person just happened to be around when they decided to settle down and “Oh look, we want the same things – marriage and family!” The first works, the second does not.

  18. pikawho? says:

    How totally private and intimate!

I think they’ll be back to parading in no time. Neither can live without the immediate attention. I hope they get an ice cream truck that plays Taylor’s songs and start visiting every suburban neighborhood nearby, confusing the hell out of children.

“So…you don’t actually have any ice cream?”

“No! Its us! We’re the treat! Tell me I’m pretty!”

    • shelly says:

      Lol pikawho…!

Although that did give me a rather uncomfortable flashback to the child catcher out of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

      • Abby_J says:

Oh man Thanks @Shelly. Now I’m gonna have nightmares.

The child catcher scared me to death when I was little. I haven’t even shown it to my own kids because of it. Now imagining Taylor and Tom dressed like him….Even worse. 🙂

      • shelly says:

Sorry love but if I’m going to be traumatised I’m going to share the pain ;0)

      • Dlo says:

Love the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang reference! Love the movie! Ahhh memories ☺

    • Nina S. says:

I find it hilarious that there are no pappar. pics of the out to dinner suddenly and that she got out of Australia undetected. What a child-woman….every piece of publicity is calculated. Now she wants to hide, and magically no pictures. I think it would be tacky of Tom to leave her at this moment, but it says a lot about him that he doesn’t question the value system of this woman.

  19. Zav says:

If they are really in real relationship and dating, why does her team need to tell the whole world about it? just keep it private? or the source is bullshit from random ppl who saw them that night?

    • Becky says:

Zav, because keeping it private would be the sensible and mature thing to do, TayTay is incapable of either.

Since this whole coupling began I’ve come to the conclusion Tom is also immature, but also incapable of being subtle (which is the vibe I’ve got off him for a while).

  20. spidey says:

Are there any photos to accompany this dinner?

    • lilacflowers says:

      Yes

    • jammypants says:

      blurry instagram photo

      • Dara says:

And now there is a full set (including video) of the happy, authentic couple both entering and leaving the restaurant surrounding by a small herd of photographers. So much for getting the memo about flying under the radar.

      • jammypants says:

I saw the video. The walk to the door was literally 5 seconds.

      • Dara says:

Yes, exactly. Five seconds from car to restaurant door – with all of the photographers standing in the perfect position to catch the authentic couple going in an unmarked door that is 50 feet from the actual main entrance of the restaurant that is not a celeb hotspot, with equipment at the ready. It’s almost like they knew ahead of time what the plan was. Color me shocked. Obvious pap walk is obvious.

      • Bonzo says:

Yes, it does appear the they were expecting the photogs to document how happy Tom actually is in the relationship. So reactionary, these two…

    • Fa says:

Funny the papz were waiting for them like they knew they were coming this is absolutely staged photo & the papz just released the video & picture now

  21. spidey says:

In case anyone missed it from the last thread, good news for Thor Ragnorok

    • popup says:

Oh, I love Taika Waititi. He’s my favorite of Tom’s directors.

    • lilacflowers says:

Well, several other actors (Zach, Idris, Karl, Jamie) aren’t even due on set until early-mid-August and several of them have said in recent interviews that they were looking forward to seeing him on set so it would make sense that he hadn’t wrapped.

Also, why do people believe that they should bombard directors with crap about the personal lives of the actors they’re working with? Taika kindly answered the question and then gets hit with all those ridiculous questions about banning Taylor.

      • spidey says:

Well that is twitter for you lilac.

      • Abby_J says:

@Lilacflowers Is Zac actually playing Fandral again? I hadn’t heard, and wondered if they’d bring Josh back or Zac. I like Josh and all, but I adore Zachary Levi. So excited!

      • Lilacflowers says:

I think the role is Zac’s now. Although it would be hilarious if they kept switching the two out and came up with some explanation as to why Fandruil’s look keeps changing, like Loki keeps bewitching him or something

      • Bonzo says:

Those comments & questions about Taylor and Tom were completely out of line.

  22. Alex says:

Even though I think this is fake af I’m hoping for a spring 2017 wedding followed by a messy divorce. The gossip from that would be GOLD

    • Dlo says:

Only after a Tiddle Tot, just cause I love that phrase, someone on here came up with it I believe 😁

    • Bonzo says:

While I think a divorce is likely, I don’t wish it upon them especially if a child is involved. I’d rather they date long enough to break up without needing to divorce.

      • Alex says:

I mean yea kids are messy and more importantly taylor is mentally still a kid so I would need her to get that together first as well.

  23. Dara says:

“Taylor wants you to know that she looked pretty.” That pretty much sums it up doesn’t it?

  24. saltandpepper says:

I very much think they are a legit couple – and it’s no PR ploy. The are, sigh, authentic. He would be a fool to let her go because this is a very beneficial relationship for him and it’s the next chapter in her life and he is a catch.

However, it’s not cool that people are sending tweets to Taika Waititi about TnT.

    • CornyBlue says:

Taika is so cool about these things I really dont think he minds. Actually I am looking forward to how good the press is with Chris and Taika if TnT are still together when the movie comes out.

    • Lilacflowers says:

They’ve been doing it to Jordan Vogt-Roberts too. It is some sort of weird entitlement and it is creepy.

      • jammypants says:

It’s so weird how all Tom’s coworkers get harassed with questions about him.

      • MI6 says:

That has to create some sort of adverse professional impression even if it isn’t TH’s fault.

  25. SleepyJane says:

I’ll date her for fudge and swan pastries. Who can blame him? I could live my life like I’m in the midst of a self-absorbed Iifestyle blog for a few months, easily.

  26. Ana says:

They are the most bland, clean-cut, middle-of-the-road suburbanite couple in all of history.

  27. MI6 says:

Kaiser, you are a f*cking riot. Bless you.
    😉

  28. Dlo says:

This comment is for @Sixer. You need to write! A snarky gossip book, something, but you should write!

    • Sixer says:

I can’t write! I’m only good for jokes!

      • Little Darling says:

I doubt that sixer. Even if you just wrote your commentary on one pop story a day, bound it and sold it, it would be bankable! (:

I’ve spit out/snorted out many a drink reading your comments.

      • Dlo says:

See, little Darling is onto something good! I would support it,you could do a daily snark blog, anything! Making ppl laugh is a gift. You have that gift!

      • Sixer says:

I’ll be back later with today’s anecdote concerning Sixlet Major and The Very Big Spider In The Conservatory!

      • Dlo says:

I will check back for the update!

      • Little Darling says:

        no pressure tho (-;

      • Sixer says:

The short version is: he had hysterics, I had hysterics, and Sixlet Minor squashed it with a potato masher. Bits were poking out of the holes in the masher. I was nearly sick. Sixlet Major was furious because he may be afraid of spiders but he’s not for killing them. Sixlet Minor takes a more trenchant view: people having hysterics should be made to be quiet in the quickest possible manner.

This afternoon has been spent in Google Wars. Sixlet Major trying to prove that spiders are an essential part of the biosystem and benign creatures (even if he is scared of them). Sixlet Minor trying to prove that there are so bloody many of them that one death here or there is as nothing.

I was Switzerland. I just threw the potato masher away.

(Not that funny. Sorry. Did my best but am also working!)

      • spidey says:

Can you send Sixlet Minor round here next time I get invaded by a spider? And his he as effective with moths?

      • Sixer says:

If you don’t mind insect/arachnid murders, spidey! Better to take Mr Sixer because he traps and frees back into the wild!

      • spidey says:

Sixer, as long as they are removed from my abode pdq I don’t mind the method.

      • Lilacflowers says:

Six let Minor = Samwise Gamgee.

      • Bonzo says:

The funniest part of that tale is Sixlet Major proving the worth of spiders via Google. He would make a good defense attorney, I think.

      • Sixer says:

Morally speaking, I’m with Sixlet Major. But I can’t help but have a sneaking admiration for Sixlet Minor. At one point he was shouting “WELL AT LEAST I’M EFFICIENT!” Can’t really argue with that!

      • Sixer says:

Nothing to do with spiders but we were laughing at Pokemon Go the other day. Read this blog about Pokemon catching in Bunhill Fields (which is a cemetery). It’s actually poetic! (I’m not joking – it is.)

        https://medium.com/@nickyellis/pikachu-at-the-cemetery-gates-dcf961e22312#.bte85u3yz

That’s my historical AND pop culture reference for the day!

      • spidey says:

I had to ask my younger friends what Ppokemongo(?) was a couple of days ago. 😳 Don’t honestly think I was missing much.

ps. Morals don’t come into it in respect of spiders/moths in my home – they invade, they take the consequences. Sorry. 😈

      • Bonzo says:

Sixlet Minor is my Spirit Animal. I’m all about efficiency!

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Spidey, my cat is very good with moths but you might want to remove anything breakable from the vicinity lest it suffer the same fate as the moth due to the airborne Maine coon.

      • spidey says:

        @ Lilacflowers

Sorry but cats are considered invaders too!

        😆

      • Sixer says:

OMG! Spidey has outed herself as an anti-insect, anti-arachnid, anti-feline NINJA!

  29. guest says:

oh thank goodness.More loki for me.

  30. Sure Jan says:

He doesn’t stay at her house – Tom Hiddleston, that is. He stays at a hotel near her house.

    The Beverly Hills Hotel.

If you didn’t think this was a bearding…..(lol)

    • popup says:

It was mentioned above that her LA house is undergoing extensive renovations. The whole thing is tented over. So is Taylor even staying at her own house?

      • Dara says:

@popup – this is where I have to hand it to the Swifties, they really do know everything about their idol. I have learned through their discussions that Taylor has three houses in LA – one is fairly modest by pop star standards (you can see it in the questions video she did for Vogue), her mother also has a house just down the street from her daughter, and the newest one is a proper historic mansion that was purchased last year and is currently undergoing major renovations.

      • popup says:

The Swifties are so advanced and dedicated. They should get recruited by the CIA and FBI. I’m seriously impressed by their spy skills.

      • Phoebe says:

She has TWO houses in LA. The 11 bedroom mansion she bought (and denied buying on Twitter, which turned out to be a lie…) is being renovated but she still has a piddly little 4 bedroom bungalow that was featured in Vogue. Maybe both of their egos can’t fit in that small of a house…

    • The Understudy says:

I would expect it is safe to say he has not officially ‘moved in’ with her, to any of her houses, despite spending every possible moment by her side. The hotel may have been arranged a while before, I mean they have only been dating what 7 weeks and it could be possible Legendary paid for him to stay there for a week to do the con? Either that or its a bolt hole in case he needs to escape.

There are videos of them from their very arrival at the Santa Monica restaurant so the paps very much knew they were coming and Tom just looks so awkward as they enter, like he suddenly remembers he has to smile because this is a pap walk and Taylor does this without scowling.

      • saltandpepper says:

Or perhaps they’re not having sex yet? Waiting for marriage. Could be possible…

  31. Lilacflowers says:

My take on this is Taylor likes national chain restaurants. She’s the one who has local property, she should know where the good local restaurants are but they keep showing up at chains. Same as in Nashville. And don’t any of her properties have kitchens?

    • popup says:

This is not solely on Taylor. Tom’s the one who went crazy for Chili’s during the filming of Avengers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUvoEuswqrM

      • Lilacflowers says:

Because that’s where the driver took him. He’s not American. I wouldn’t know what all the British chains were. Taylor lives here and owns houses in Nashville and the Los Angeles area. She should know the restaurant scene where she lives.

      • K.C. says:

LOL. Maybe knowing his enthusiasm for chain restaurants, she’s taking him to her favorites. That’s funny.

I’m from the East Coast so I didn’t even recognize Hillstone as a chain.

      • Bonzo says:

K.C., have you heard of Houston’s? That’s the flagship restaurant under the Hillstone group.

      • K.C. says:

@Bonzo I haven’t! Just looked it up and looks like there aren’t any near me. Am I missing out? 🙂

AHH, I see the Tiddles pap pics have returned. Does my heart good. They look cute, but it bothers me endlessly when she’s not carrying a purse. Does her bodyguard carry it for her?

Curious to know if this is the pap company people say she usually calls, or if they were actually just spotted out.

      • spidey says:

@Lilacflowers – you wouldn’t want to know where some of the UK restaurant chains were! 😆

      • Bonzo says:

K.C., They have restaurants in NY, MD & FL under varying names, so unless you live near one of the big cities there, you probably wouldn’t have hear of them.

Back in a day when I lived in Nashville, Houston’s was a popular spot for music industry meetings. That’s the only one I’ve ever been to.

      • lilacflowers says:

They have a Hillstone’s in Boston but I think it was originally a Houston’s. The menus are slightly different but they’re the same company.

I haven’t been there. I like to support local chefs and businesses.

    • Bonzo says:

They could eat in, order a delivery, hire a chef or eat at some hole in the wall place where no paps would think to go. But they don’t. They give us pictures every 2-3 days to let everyone know they’re still “together”.

Do any of her boyfriends ever gush about her to the press or are they all as understated in their declarations of affection as Tom and Calvin?

      • ❤️CooCooCatchoo says:

Great point, Bonzo. She’s never had a good breakup, either with a boyfriend or a platonic friend. She seems like an “all or nothing” person – either you’re 100% Team Taylor, or you’re outside the circle of trust. She calls the shots, babies! She distrusts everyone, because they’d sell her out in a hot second – and she’d do the same to them.

      • spidey says:

Or they might just fancy going out somewhere. And the recent spying was by a member of the public wasn’t it?

      • Bonzo says:

spidey, there were paps waiting outside the restaurant for them when they arrived. The pictures are up on Twitter.

My point was that they can lay low when they want to and eat in restaurants away from the pap zone. It can be done if it’s important enough to them. I think TIDDLES wants to be seen out on dates.

      • The Understudy says:

So far I’ve seen two different videos of them going in and it looked like at least 3 photographers are in shot, how would they know to be lying in wait? Even if they sat outside her house and followed them that’s damn quick work to be in front of them at their destination as they get out their car?

Tom was so distracted by the flurry he almost misses the restaurant door and she has to reign him in causing great mirth.

    • jammypants says:

She has a home in LA? Goodness, how many houses does this chica have?

      • Bonzo says:

She does like to invest in real estate, it seems. I’m surprised that with all of the homes that she has, that she’s never bought anything beyond the continental US. If I had that kind of dough I’d have a mountain chalet in Colorado, a beach house in CA, a penthouse in NY and a villa in France or Italy.

      • jammypants says:

Don’t celebs buy islands too? I think Bjork has an island given to her by the Icelandic government. She might do better to have an island. But who am I kidding. It might still be easy to get papped if your home is surrounded by a sea of sharks. 😉

I am surprised she hasn’t bought a house across the street from Harry.

      • Dara says:

If I had the kind of money Tay-Tay does, my real estate portfolio would be a lot more exciting than hers.

      • Bonzo says:

I see why the majority of her homes would be in LA, Nashville & NYC since she’d be spending a lot of time there for personal and professional reasons anyway, but Rhode Island?? Of all places to buy a home on the beach (presumably for swimming as well as gazing at), New England would not be the ideal spot since the water is so frickin’ cold most of the time. I know this from a decade of playing in the beaches of NE… I can recall only one time the water was actually warm!

  32. ❤️CooCooCatchoo says:

Hollywood is very… junior high-ish. I think Tom had a facination with her and let his inhibitions down. Once he started taking the negative comments to heart and/or losing jobs because of it, he started looking for an out. I think he’ll make that break before the Emmy Awards.
And I totally think they’ve slept together. She’s a fantastically famous, gorgeous, egomaniacal celebrity. I had a fraction of her money, looks and success at her age, and I was having lots of sex. She’s a healthy 20 something woman, not an asexual Barbie doll.

    • lilacflowers says:

      What jobs did he lose?

      • seesittellsit says:

        Bond.

      • Snotface says:

C’mon, we don’t know that he ever had the Bond role. He was probably considered, but there were no definites there.

      • this_dis says:

@seesittellsit Only Tom himself said any anouncement that he was going to be Bond was not going to happen, days before the all thing exploded, at a con.

      • lilacflowers says:

He was not up for Bond. That was all click-bait generated by the British tabloids to earn ad revenue after people were making Bond comments on the recaps of each TNM episode. It always amazes me how willing people are to believe tabloid clickbait.

      • TotallyBiased says:

He’s been saying, since long before Taylor showed up, that he wasn’t on for Bond. Tabloids and their page-views business model!
As for paps showing up–that didn’t seem like so many, considering. Given that paps spread the word far and wide of their largesse for tips, probably a few texts went out as soon as the reservations were made. Since they were dining in the VIP section of the restaurant, with its private entrance, even if they used fake names the paps would know someone was showing up.
As for that, any restaurant that HAS a separate VIP entrance in Santa Monica surely has its share of hopeful paps on a regular basis, without the need for warning texts.

  33. Guesto says:

Serious LOL at the Tom apologists and their indignant uppityness on his behalf!

Chill for god’s sake and accept that he might actually LIKE the food at chain restaurants and is not even a fraction as sniffily snobbish as you are!

    • lucy says:

I love chain restaurant food (hangs head in shame) anything to fancy, or posed prettily on a plate, and i dont want to know… Looks like i need to join the hiddleswift crew.

Gotta say he looks stupidly happy in the pics for someone looking for a way out, and so does she… They love this, the attention they get, and i suspect in their own way each other too!

      • Phoebe says:

Check out the video that E! has of them arriving at the restaurant (yep, the paps were waiting there for them) and see that he’s not “happy”, he walked past the door and the bodyguard and T.S. had to tell him to turn and he was laughing at himself.

This is why judging pictures is silly- the smiling ones or the ones where he looks like he’s miserable or screaming internally, it’s one second of a face caught on camera with no context, we add the context depending on what we want to believe. Plus if you’re there to put on a show, you gotta put on a show!

      • Lucy says:

Ahh sorry I only saw the leaving pics on Twitter , the one of the two of them in the car! But, your right completely judging seconds of someone’s life is pointless, and I know that Bcos I have resting bitch face, and look like a miserable cow in nearly every candid photo taken unless I’m aware of a camera …

      • Bonzo says:

Phoebe, Tom looking giddy happy in those photos last night, tells me he’s very aware of how others have interpreted his resting bitch face, claiming he’s miserable and trying to find an exit ramp. This is his way of countering that narrative.

I’m not saying that it’s fake, just that he’s making an effort to look happy while out with Taylor instead of his usual stock pap face that he displays.

      • jammypants says:

I’d have RBF too if my “me time” (ala running) involves a bunch of paps or if I got off a long plane ride ready to hit a bed.

    • popup says:

Question is why it took so long for the pap photos and video(s) to come out. This dinner happened yesterday. Was there an embargo, a bidding war?

      • Fa says:

The explanation can be that their PR teams had arrangements with these papz to release these video to E! online you can definitely see the papz were waiting for them a spot the papz don’t usually go to look for celebs

    • jammypants says:

I’ve never heard of this place til today. Is it like Chilis?

      • Dara says:

        Much more upmarket I think.

      • MaybeLater says:

I wouldn’t say much more upmarket, but it does market itself more as a bistro than a chain restaurant even though it is a chain. It probably says that the food is prepared by “chefs” while Chili’s would say “cooks.” That and the price is the difference. The menu selection is similar. Hills has more seafood and steak options.

The second floor isn’t “private” or “VIP” as some articles are suggesting; you can easily request it and that request is never turned down because you’re not VIP enough. I’ve been to the one in Midtown and it was nice, but I’ve not fallen over myself to go back. There were no paps camped out when my boyfriend and I went, but then I did forget to call them to capture our arrival.

      • Bonzo says:

It’s not Capital Grille kind of place, but better than Chili’s or Applebees. It’s one step down from the $$$$ kind of steakhouses. I recall their food being very good.

      • jammypants says:

Thanks ladies. Speaking of all this food, I am now hungry!

      • Bonzo says:

Yeah, I’ve been craving a juicy steak since this conversation started.

      • TotallyBiased says:

Much more upmarket, has a dress code, seafood includes in house sushi chef.

  34. Bonzo says:

So I just saw the gym pictures. Has Swifty become a Nike girl since hooking up with Hiddles or has she always dressed like this at the gym?

    • OhDear says:

I feel like Nike has some role in this *relationship* – he always wears head to toe Nike gear when he’s papped running or at the gym.

  35. MaybeLater says:

Has anyone asked why a huge group of paps was waiting outside of a Hillstones in Santa Monica for the arrival of these two?

Don’t tell me, the paps are so desperate for pics of TayTay that they’ll camp outside of every TGIFs, every Applebees and Hillstones in the greater LA area. Am I right?

    • Bonzo says:

I find it highly unlikely that paps wait outside a chain restaurant hoping to get the golden shot of TIDDLES. More likely they were tipped off.

      • Browniecakes says:

Her security team probably had to prep or clear the restaurant for TnT Date Night. This rest. was willing to play along. If only headshots of him and her CDs copies could have magically appeared for fans to hand over to be signed outside.

    • TotallyBiased says:

Do TGIF’S and Applebee’s have separate VIP dining areas, with separate entrances? There chains and there are CHAINS, after all. Morton’s of Chicago is a chain, but they also tend to be pap worthy sites in many cities. And then there’s McCormick and Schmick’s, a popular date location for celebrities in Minneapolis and San Jose, among other towns.

      • Matchday says:

So you’re saying that they didn’t call the paps? Those paps were waiting at a chain restaurant in Santa Monica on the off chance that a celebrity or celebrity couple would show up? And hey, look, waiting at this chain restaurant paid off! That’s some luck.

And that’s not a separate entrance. That’s the main entrance and the VIP section also doesn’t exist. I’ve eaten in the VIP section at a Hillstone – I’m not a VIP. All I had to do was ask to eat on the second floor. That’s it.

Celebs in Minneapolis and San Jose? What are you on about?

  36. Browniecakes says:

He opens the door. She picks up the tab. So sweet.
Is she going to AU or not?

    • MI6 says:

      😅
      Please God no

    • MaybeLater says:

Now, now. I bet he paid for the gas and maybe he got drinks and appetizers while she paid for: the car, their meals, the security detail, and the meals for the security detail. She also paid for the call to the paps but she’s on an all inclusive plan so that doesn’t really count. Tom surely got the tip.

    • shelly says:

She is deffo going to Oz, batten down the hatches for some World class pap action.

I just hope they come to London and He takes her to Nandos.

  37. Fa says:

There is a picture on Instagram where a fan compared Taylor exes with Tom when they are on the car because She is doing the same routine with every boyfriends she is been with before & her fans are saying that she looks happier than ever duh she looked happier as as well with these other photos with her exes where they couple are smiling in Tom case she is not even looking at him but in the other she is all smiling with the other guys looking in their eye

    • Browniecakes says:

This is why I can’t get on board with her marrying TH. She didn’t marry any of the other ones.

      • phaedra7 says:

        My own opinion and observation:

Sometimes I wonder if Twifti could not be too happy about the age group of Tom’s fanbase, which are mainly moderately young/middle-aged/mature women who are highly-intelligent/critically-thinking/emotional as well as mentally mature. She no doubt probably cannot handle that. Furthermore, she could be afraid that Tom will fully realize that he is wining and dining (plus more than likely sexually intimate with) a very immature, bossy, narcissistic, selfish (and to me, racist) mean woman-child; and may drop her azz like a bad habit/hot potay-to (smile!). She may also recognize that if Hiddleston is not a full-on phony like her, that he has some admirable qualities which has attracted the type of many women who I have described above in this post.

That is why I call her “TClingy”, for she hangs on to him for dear life when they are out in public, because she knows that he’ll kick her off when he (if he really wants an out due to her real personality traits and the trauma-drama/debacle
spectacle narrative orchestrated by her) gets damn sick and tired of her.

  38. spidey says:

Just to be a devil’s advocate 😈 how do we know they didn’t go out without being papped, if they weren’t papped?

    • this_dis says:

That’s some sort of schrodinger’s papping you’ve got there!

But I think the logic is that, if they go out and not get papped, they are taking advice from their PR people, so it’s a PR move too.

edit: Altough, I’m now wondering why I don’t usually see claims that pap pics of Tom going out to run, are “staged” and PR plants as well…

      • OhDear says:

Oh I completely think that those photos (Tom running) are staged, too, especially when he wears the same damn thing in each of those photos and that he wears head to toe Nike.

      • this_dis says:

@OhDear Only, he’s been spotted, practically with the same get-up, ages before these last few weeks…

Tom uses and re-uses everything until its threadbare. It’s hardly a new habit.

    • spidey says:

Well that got you thinking. 🙂
