There has been a lot of speculation as to whether Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are getting married. Neither has officially confirmed that they are dating, let alone engaged, although they have dropped several hints. Miley’s father, Billy Ray, seemingly confirmed they were heading towards a wedding when he appeared on Today. Most outlets report that the wedding will be a beach ceremony. The last I read it is that they would wait until Miley finishes up with her stint at The Voice, most likely in 2017. US Magazine reports this week that it will, in fact, be a beach wedding in Australia but does not say when.
Does this mean she won’t twerk down the aisle with a coterie of drag queens? In the new issue of Us Weekly, a source close to Miley Cyrus reveals that the “We Can’t Stop” singer, 23, has decided on “a small wedding” to fiancé Liam Hemsworth. The planning, adds the source, “is going great.”
The pair announced their engagement in 2012, but split the following September just weeks after Cyrus’ racy performance with Robin Thicke at the MTV Video Music Awards. The pair spent more than two years apart, then quietly reunited last December.
As Us previously reported, the couple are now looking to wed seaside in his native Australia. Says the source, “They’re getting married on the beach.”
At least one A-lister is angling for an invitation. As Cyrus’ godmother, Dolly Parton, tells Us, “If she ever decides to really go and do it, I’d love to be there!”
My love for Dolly Parton knows no bounds. I am reading a lot into what she is saying but it thrills me that she phrases it as, “If she ever decides to really go and do it… “ and omits any mention of Liam at all. According to US, the couple has asked that instead of gifts, people donate to the charity of their choosing. I really like this trend for gift giving.
The fact that it will be a small ceremony sounds more like Liam’s decision, doesn’t it? Miley supposedly wanted a carnival-theme and bounce houses at her wedding. I think this wedding will happen. Enough sources are giving the same details that I think it is in the works. But I really wish the media would get away from mentioning Miley’s behavior then and now as it pertains to their relationship. What about Liam’s behavior with January Jones and others? I assume he too must have settled down – at least I hope so.

I think she’s (slowly) starting to mature, and settling down. She’ll be 24 this fall, so I’m not surprised. She seems to really love Liam and he seems to be a calming influence on her. I hope if they do get married they can make it work.

I don’t think Liam can handle how big a personality Miley is. I say this as a compliment to Miley, because I think that she’s such an individual and a good person inside (her devotion to animals makes me think this, also she doesn’t seem to be snide and diva-ish like other young starlets). I feel like Liam is threatened by Miley and she tries to tame herself down to suit him. Eh.

Miley is extra, but she seems sweet.
Liam seems like he can’t handle her fame and personality. It makes me think less of him, not her. I hope she’s not changing too much of herself to make him happy.
I ship these 2 as a couple. I like both, particularly Miley who comes across as being sweet if not the brightest flame in the fire.

Thank you for saying this. The way these two are often covered all over the net is kind of gross– Miley is always the crazy wild child who has to change herself for the oh-so-perfect Liam. That rings really false to me. I don’t think she’s as crazy as people think she is. I don’t think she wants a carnival-themed wedding.
I think people have taken an on-stage persona she created and assumed that’s who she really is in every moment of her life, when in reality I think she’s a pretty low-key person. Zany and weird and artsy and all that beautiful stuff? Yeah. But still pretty low key. I think a small beach wedding sounds very like her.
