Justin Bieber deactivated his Instagram after toddler-beefing with Selena Gomez

JB1

Yesterday, we discussed some of the toddler drama going on with Justin Bieber, his 17-year-old girlfriend Sofia Richie, Selena Gomez and the Beliebers. I got some of the timeline wrong and I don’t even really care, but to recap: Justin posted photos of himself and Sofia on his Instagram and his Beliebers had a collective meltdown. So Justin threatened to take down his Instagram unless his fans behaved. That caused another meltdown, and it also caused Selena Gomez to come into Justin’s comments and stir some sh-t up, because this is junior high school. There were actually some mocked-up comments from Justin and Selena, but they did truly get into a brief comment war, only for Selena to then delete her comments because she’s THAT kind of drama queen.

Anyway, long story short, Justin Bieber finally deleted his Instagram. Maybe he was tired of the drama or maybe he just wanted to play the internet martyr and stir the sh-t in his own way. Now people on Twitter are throwing a #JustinDeactivatedParty and I don’t really understand the hashtag? Like, it seems to be mostly Beliebers who are sad that he deactivated, so why is it a “party”??? Meanwhile, people say that Justin left Instagram because of the middle school drama with Selena Gomez. Sources close to Selena want you to know her side of the story:

Over the weekend, Justin Bieber accused his ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez, of using him for fame, but a source close to the “Revival” singer tells PEOPLE exclusively that’s never been the case.

“They’re both young and have made mistakes, but she has never used him,” says the source. “He put their relationship out there way more than she ever did, and he’s been very strategic about it.”

Indeed, since the couple first split in late 2012, the “Sorry” singer has continuously posted “throwback” photos of the former couple on his Instagram account.

“Whenever something good is happening in her life, he’ll post something to get at her,” adds the source.

On Saturday, Bieber, 22, threatened to make his Instagram private if his loyal Beliebers continued hurling negativity towards his new flame, Sofia Richie, 17.

“If you can’t handle the hate, then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol- It should be special between you two only,” Gomez, 24, commented on a photo her ex posted. “Don’t be mad at your fans. They love you and supported you before any one ever did.”

Bieber clapped back at Gomez shortly after, writing “It’s funny to see people that used me for attention and still try to point the finger this way. Sad. All love.”

[From People]

I’ve never noticed Justin posting throwback photos of Selena “whenever something good is happening in her life” in particular. He did post throwback photos of Selena a lot though, to the point where he seemed really hung up on her, like she was The One. So it did seem weird that he was accusing her of using him for attention.

Oh, and People Mag also says that Hailey Baldwin – who dated Baby Biebz for a hot minute – is also trying to get in on the middle school drama. Hailey is very upset that Justin unfollowed her on social media, but Hailey knows that Sofia “apparently made him.”

I actually think this was a sensible move on his part. And I also think it had nothing to do with Selena Gomez. He did it because he can’t stand his fans any more, and I don’t blame him. They are absolutely awful.

    • ickythump says:

I think it was a good decision too. I looked at Sahara Ray and Sofia Ritchie’s instagrams after they were linked to Justin and all their recent photos were spammed with the snake emoji so both ended up disabling comments. I get that they choose to put up the photos with him but god those ‘beliebers’ are insane!

  2. Nicole says:

Selena also posted on snap about how sorry she was. She clearly learned her shit stirring ways from her bestie Taylor and didn’t expect him to clap back. Someone needs to take her social media away along with Taylor’s and heck throw Demi in there. They all need to grow up (yes that includes JB).

My thing is if you’re an adult and you’re over someone whatever they are doing shouldn’t bother you. If I don’t like someone I don’t think about them. She inserted herself yet again and she looks stupid. Wasn’t she just complaining about the media coming to her about JB?

  3. HH says:

Everyone involved in this story seems annoying. Is there a reason why Selena keeps inserting herself in drama that doesn’t concern her? Is she bored? Isn’t she on tour?

“unfollowing” and “unfriending” “untagging” etc…. social media adds a whole new layer to relationships that I hate and makes me nervous. I don’t follow or friend anyone I’m dating unless it’s going to get serious. Because if we breakup, I unfriend you and any friends that aren’t mutual. I like to totally cut myself off, cuts down on gossip and lingering feelings.

  4. grabbyhands says:

    Please.

I expect that it will be reactivated within days complete with a “I’m going to rise above the haters” post, having learned exactly nothing because it is an attention grab, just like when Demi Lovato did it.

  5. tx_ava says:

    finally

  6. Lora says:

I can’t stand this Selena chick! She doesn’t have any talent besides talking dumb stuff on social media and then acting like a victim

  7. Sahra says:

I’m kind of happy my generation (britney, nsync, Christina Aguilera etc) celebs didn’t have social media during the worst of the drama years.

  8. Loulou says:

Ummm what about the part of the story where he accused Selena of cheating on him with Zayn Malik??

    • Bluebelle says:

Yes, I saw this but I don’t know if it was a fake comment or if Justin really wrote this. I don’t know, I love Zayn but everyone knows he’s a hoe. It wouldn’t surprise me if they did have something, but they’re adults, they can if they want to.

    • me says:

That Zayn comment was tweeted by a fake Justin Bieber account.

  9. Heat says:

I’ve got some nieces and nephews around the same age. This type of drama seems to be the norm. The only difference is the fact that my nieces and nephews aren’t followed by millions.
My point is that, while annoying and unbeliebably (see what I did there?) immature, these people are acting like many others in their age-group.
By the way, my tween daughter and her friends beg to differ on Selena Gomez gaining fame by dating JB…Wizards of Waverly Place was huge at our house!

    • We Are All Made Of Stars says:

Yeah, but Wizards was over what, five years ago? You don’t just stay famous because you were on a kids’ show once upon a time. You either do something to maintain the spotlight or you fade away. Just ask Jeanette McCurdy, Victoria Justice, Miranda Cosgrove, the Sprouse boys, Miley Cyrus, and that one “I have a brand new pair of roller skates” lady who owns a tea house in the next town over.

“Twitter are throwing a #JustinDeactivatedParty and I don’t really understand the hashtag? Like, it seems to be mostly Beliebers who are sad that he deactivated, so why is it a “party”???”

Funny when TS had the same type of hashtag it’s funny and great.

Justin is dating an underage girl that should be the headline. Yes yes 17 almost 18. Like where are her parents.

    • Naya says:

She means that the people posting that hashtag are actually his fans and they are mourning his leaving. It therefore doesnt make sense that they called it a party when from their perspective its more like a funeral. But yeah, of course its a party for the rest of the sane world.

  11. Ellie says:

Do we really have to accept every spawn of a celebrity “a model?” Because I have no doubt this Sofia girl would be cute with better (less hideous 90s styling), but I do not see model here at all.

    • We Are All Made Of Stars says:

I thought she was pretty and there were some pics of her with really cool GOT hairstyles. (That was the description, I don’t watch GOT.)

  12. Myrna says:

These 2 “kids” have deep feelings for each other.
If they didn’t, there wouldn’t be any back and forth.
The opposite of love is indifference, right?

The bigger issue here is what is going on with JB?
He’s clearly under the influence of something, still, and that’s most likely the case with Sofia, which is scary on so many levels given the difficult road her older sister went down.

JB’s behavior has been more erratic – whether it’s an emotional breakdown and drugs, who knows.
But I know from friends in Boston that his stint there a month or 2 ago was scary.
He trashed a club one night…was entirely out of control and clearly UTI.

Anyway..aside from the hardcore stuff like drugs, alcohol and mental instability, I don’t find his and SG’s online antics unusual.
They still pine away for each other…and I’m sorry, 20 something year olds are no more mature than teens nowadays…

  13. Kelly says:

Bieber off Twitter will last about 15 minutes.

  14. Ivy says:

Selena posted a snapchat at midnight saying “what I said was selfish and pointless” so I wouldn’t say she’s out of touch.

  15. Amanda DG says:

Oh please, he will be back on IG within 48 hours. I hate that I’m defending him here, but it wasn’t a bad thing for him to ask his fans to be kinder to his “friend” and Selena had no business stepping in. I think Selena is generally harmless in the celeb world, but after this I now see why they were a couple for so long. Both are quite immature. It’s weird that gossip sites are saying Selena “won” this argument, when I think Bieber did with his Zahn clapback!

I’m so glad there wasn’t this much social media when I was growing up… And I’m glad my favorite celebs at the time didn’t have it either. The most gossip we got was from Star, YM, or MTV LOL There are fan groups of nearly every celeb who are awful and the main reason is because the celeb overshares on social media accounts and invites the drama. Gwen Stefani was a favorite of mine for 20 years, but now that she’s playing the social media game, she has a new crop of awful fans who have turned me off to her.

    • SpecialK says:

I didn’t see your comment but said the same thing below! SO glad I didn’t have social media when I was young! I was a complete self involved twat. I fully admit it. And yes, you’re right. Can you imagine Stevie Nicks or David Bowie hashing out drama on Instagram?? Talk about an idol buzz kill!

  16. SpecialK says:

My 13 year old has less drama than this on her social media. How embarrassing for all of them. SOOOO happy social media didn’t exist when I was a self-involved a-hole in my teens and early 20s!!

  17. Pmnichols says:

We’ve ALL done stupid, immature things during our young dating lives, unfortunately now it’s “in” to literally post anything and everything. If any of them were smart and had good parents or PR people they’d tell them to be discreet and kick it old school Hollywood. Start a new trend. When nothing is left to the imagination the interest fades.

    • hogtowngooner says:

Apparently lots of celebs have reverted back to an old flip-phone so they can’t access social media when they’re at their most… ahem… vulnerable. Sounds like these idiots should have done the same!

  18. Mark says:

It is just a publicity stunt for everybody, Selena Gomez wouldn’t so famous without her “relationsship” with Bieber. The next step is to announce, she is back with him again.
