Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in hot-pink Balmain: underwhelming or cute?

Here are some photos from last night’s premiere of Mechanic: Resurrection, a sequel to Jason Statham’s 2011 film, The Mechanic. Statham’s career is pretty interesting, in that he just keeps churning out these (interchangeable?) stunt-heavy action films and apparently there’s enough of a market for them. I guess. This film also costars Jessica Alba, who wore a floral Dolce & Gabbana dress. I liked her dress a lot more than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s look, which was a hot-pink Balmain two-piece thing. Usually I love Rosie’s style and she can do no wrong, but that Balmain is definitely a “miss.”

Jason was asked by E! News about the seeming boy-beef between Vin Diesel and The Rock. Statham worked on Fast & Furious 8 with both men, and as far as he knows, he doesn’t have a beef with either of them. That’s as far as Jason will go, saying: “I’m good with them. We’re good pals, and if [Johnson’s] got any problem with me then he’d probably tell me to my face. So I’m good with them.” “Tell me to my face” is such a dude thing. It’s also pretty childish. It goes along with “NUN-UH” and “YO MAMA.”

Also, did you know that Statham was once an Olympic hopeful in diving? He competed in diving for years but never made it to the Olympics. He says now: “It’s a bit of a sore point I never got to the Olympics. I just heard they got seven million or something for the diving per year. They deserve it. The divers we’ve got now are just terrific. I started too late. It probably wasn’t my thing. I should have done a different sport.” Yeah, it is weird to me that when he was younger, he went to… diving. Not boxing. Not wrestling. Not even gymnastics. Diving??

He looks way more into Jessica than Rosie based on those pics

  2. Kitten says:

Meh. I like the color but the outfit isn’t really working for me.
I don’t get the attraction to that dude at ALL. He’s mean-looking.

I didn’t get it until I watched the film Blitz (because I like Ken Bruen novels and was curious about the adaptation). He’s one of those guys not very interesting in still pictures but there’s something in the demeanour and the voice that can make him attractive I guess.
I also like how he always seems to be comfortable with his girlfriend towering over him.

      • Kitten says:

You make a good point though, because I’ve never actually seen him anything. Funny how some people become much more attractive in motion.

      • T.Fanty says:

Watch Snatch and Spy. You may not be hot for him, but you will love him after those movies.

      • Maire3 says:

T.Fanty – was coming here to say just that. There was something about him in Spy. His scenes with McCarthy gave me the giggles.

I remember watching Snatch at the cinema years ago, but my grey cells didn’t retain much of his performance. Now I have to go revisit.

      • minime says:

Tha Bank Job, The Transporter and Snatch worked for me…I also couldn’t see it before but he’s really charming in motion.

      • ria says:

Kitten, really watch Snatch and Spy, Crank (rude but fun),Transporter, Chaos all are good.
Ok Chaos not quite but whatever.
Hubby loves loves the action and i enjoy the view and ofc the action too.
But best is that he doesn’t takes himself to serious.

      • Hummus says:

The other day watching Spy with my sisters and I casually mumbled unconciously ‘he’s so hot’. He just has this thing about him in motion and yeah maybe it is the voice, I’d totally go there

    • detrtisu says:

He seems to not take himself serious and has a nice voice. That’s all I got, for why I find him hot. Well and abs. And the half naked grease wrestling.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ot2RkUSRjmg – starts around minute 3

Rosie’s outfit would look way better as a skirt.

  3. shelly says:

It looks like Jason prefers Jessica’s dress too…!

He seems like a nice bloke, but he is a terrible actor, on a par with Steven Seagal.

  4. Yeses says:

I want someone to look at me like Jason is looking at Jessica……like she is a cold drink of water on a hot summer’s day.

TBH I love his movies, mindless 90 mins of action, fun to watch, it’s hubby and my guilty pleasure, we will probably see this one too.

    • tegteg says:

Haha I just commented on this above! I noticed that look he gave her… like she’s the last piece of chocolate cake and daddy’s hungry.

  5. Nev says:

    Jessica looks spectacular.

  6. anna says:

rosie is the most beautiful woman. that dress does nothing for her, but she’s still so gorgeous. swoon. statham must have the best dong in town if she’s down for marrying him.

  7. Locke Lamora says:

I hate Rosie’s dress. The cut is bad and the colour is the ugliedt colour in the world. But I pretty much never like style.
Jessica’a dress is nice but I don’t like her hair.

    • Ankhel says:

I don’t mind the colour, but that skirt needs to burn. Get a long, elegant skirt in the same fabric as the top, lose the neck piece, put on a diamond necklace. As it is, it’s ugly.

  8. als says:

    Horrible dres, hot man.
Didn’t know the Mechanic was back, I am definitely in the target audience.

    • Angel says:

I saw the first one and didn’t really like it (I’m the only person who doesn’t like Ben Foster-sulking puppy) but I will have to check this out.
I have always dug Jason and have seen most of his movies. They are not all mindless, when given a better script, I find, he’s able to rise to the challenge. Having said that, I do respect that he realizes his niche and puts work in to it. His stunts and fights are alway well done and you don’t see him trying for an ‘oscar bait’ movie to up his profile.

  9. Kimma says:

I really, really love her outfit. I wish I could pull something like that off. The pant skirt thing is amazing…

  10. Neelyo says:

Damn it I thought her company was going to keep Alba from trying to act again.

I will love Statham for SPY forever.

And yeah that’s a bad dress but Huntington-Whiteley is gorgeous.

  11. saltandpepper says:

I like Rosie’s outfit and as always Jessica looks great. The only person I can’t stand is Jason. Of course he’s a ridiculously bad actor, typical action hero stuff without brains, but I think he’s very unattractive, I’m flabbergasted why anyone would want to be with him, I think he is unappealing. He has a nice body, but so what? Every second guy has a nice body these days. I think Rosie can do so much better.

  12. Poisonous Lookalike says:

I don’t know which bothers me more: that the two shades of Rosie’s outfit clash, or that her skirt is actually pants.

And a PSA for all designers, since I’m being crabby… If the pattern on the fabric doesn’t fit onto any of the pieces cut for the outfit, don’t fncking use that fabric! All I can see on Alba’s dress is hacked flowers (tulips, or crocuses, or ??).

  13. NeoCleo says:

That photo with Alba & Stratham is cracking me up. He looks like he wants to take a bite out of her. She IS dishy.
