It looks like a pair of fancy trash bags.

  2. Lilacflowers says:

Why is Sarah wearing Tilda Swinton’s coat?

Is there anyone left in Brisbane who hasn’t taken a selfie with Thor or Loki?

    • spidey says:

@ Lilacflowers – it is the same few people running from one side of the street to the other to make it look as if there is a big crowd! 🙂

p.s. Is it safe to post today?

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Spidey, the coast seems clear although TotallyBiased’s thoughts on the subject were blown away. But I’ve been drinking those blueberry vodka thingies all day, so Facts Schmacts!

      • spidey says:

Haha, and here I am drinking non-alcoholic wheat beer. what did Totally’s comment say, I seem to have missed it?

  3. Sigh... says:

Did you see that TMZ is saying Leslie Jones’ “cloud” has been hacked and ALL her personal info (incl nudes, driver’s license, passport, AND HOME ADDRESS was released)!?!?

People are f’ing SICK in their hate. All of this over a stupid-ass movie? Really?!?!?

    • Sam says:

Yeah, I saw that reported (not the actual website itself).

That’s the Catch-22 of trolling. Responding to them just invites more. If you call attention to it, them do more. I don’t think it helped that Twitter didn’t exactly handle it very well, so now you have a bunch of people with a martyr complex coming for her.

It is sort of scary that they got pictures of her passport and license. Nude pics are violating enough, but at least they don’t have your personal information. The other stuff is somehow scarier.

This is why I do not ever wish to be a public figure.

    • Lindsay says:

I don’t mean to sound victim blame-y because I agree people are sick. There is no reason to dox someone and release private photos, especially over a movie. I feel bad for all the celebrities that get hacked and people seem to think it is fine because they are a celebrity and forfeited their right to any privacy. Anyway, is having a scanned in copy of your passport and driver’s license a thing people do? I know they recommend leaving a color copy of your passport with someone you trust or somewhere separate from your passport when you are overseas just in case… but putting it in a cloud?

I did read any interesting article recently about how the conventional wisdom of strong passwords has changed from using numbers, symbols, and random capitalization to using phrases. For example: rather than g0riLl@, using something like Gorrillasaremyfavoriteanimal or Ihaveastuffedgorrillaonmybed is safer because there are hacking programs that take those things into consideration now and a phrase is a lot more characters to guess and easier to remember than if you use an @ or an a. Sites are starting to allow long passwords now. They have also started recommending companies require a strong and individual password rather than having a policy of changing is every x number of days because people tend to write temporary passwords down and only make minor changes when they create a new one.

      • Sigh... says:

“Anyway, is having a scanned in copy of your passport and driver’s license a thing people do?”
Yes. But so are credit card info. It’s not the smartest thing, but I’ve seen it done/used, sometimes forgotten that it’s uploading to a hackable program, not just in their phone in their hand (and I’ve see it refused in that same form, they wanted the *actual* document).

Jones *might* have done it as an extra precaution after being invited to the Rio Olympics at the last minute. Maybe getting physical copies of these documents wasn’t going to be timely. But either way…

      • Sam says:

I’m not sure it matters. Jones should be able to keep whatever she wants on her private phone because it’s well, private. If somebody hacked my phone and got the information from my e-wallet and used it to illegally buy a ton on my credit cards, nobody would say to me “well that’s what you get for putting your person financial data online, or in the cloud, etc.” Nobody would say that – primarily because that’s a thing that most people do, but also because there’s no place in there to moralize. Unless Jones’ images are of illegal things, they are not the business of anybody but her. If she had images of her personal documents, I don’t care as to why.

      • Erinn says:

I almost have always used multiple word passwords with special characters and numbers. Sometimes I’ll grab song lyrics, or a song title or something. I work in tech – and we have to change our passwords a lot. It’s really hard to remember them sometimes -even with phrases. I actually have to change three different passwords in a couple of days.

I think I’ve had to scan a copy of my drivers license before to send it off for something – I can’t remember what it was for now, though. I don’t think it’s something that’s super rare, but it’s not fool-proof, that’s for sure.

Ultimately, there’s a chance your data is going to be breached. Nobody deserves to have it happen to them, but look at credit cards. I hear so many people talk about how they had their credit card information stolen, and often it’s by filling out something they shouldn’t because it was a phishing scam, or because they’re trusting people on the phone to be who they say they are. Ultimately, I won’t answer a strange number the first time they call more often than not. If they don’t leave a message, and keep calling, I’m not about to believe that it’s a legit company. So many people give up tiny details over the phone -but it can be just enough. Eg: someone claiming to be a bank asking for confirmation on something like the CVC number on your card, or the dates, or whatever. While you didn’t give them the whole number, they might have already breached that information as well as your phone number another way.

At the end of the day though – you need to be careful, but it’s not your fault if you’re hacked. End of story. If I leave a sticky note with my password sitting on my computer at work – someone still has to login fraudulently posing as me. I have not done anything illegal, or wrong, but they have.

There needs to be a whole lot of cracking down with laws regarding the internet. Whether it’s harassment, or stealing information – something needs to change, and quickly. There needs to be a lot more prosecution of the people who are doing these terrible things.

@ Erin “If I leave a sticky note with my password sitting on my computer at work – someone still has to login fraudulently posing as me. I have not done anything illegal, or wrong, but they have.”

But would it get you the sack – bearing in mind you would have to prove you hadn’t been the one using it? Or would you get the sack for negligence?

@ Spidey: “But would it get you the sack – bearing in mind you would have to prove you hadn’t been the one using it? Or would you get the sack for negligence?”

Don’t know abt Erinn, but I worked at an agency that has unlimited PROFESSIONAL access to a national database used by policing agencies and ancillaries for criminal apprehension & processing ONLY. ALL users are instructed to LOG IN/OVER and LOG OUT w/ their *own* password during their shift/usage. This is the BEST thing to do for your protection, not having to rely the next user to properly log in/over. Heeeere’s why:

A “curious” co-worker purposefully didn’t log in/over and looked up a nationally known, locally-based celeb in GREAT legal trouble (at the time) using this database AND LEFT THE SCREEN UP. The next user saw this and told a supervisor. The user who looked while using another’s “profile” was immed FIRED. Buuut, the previous user who didn’t log out was SUSPENDED W/O PAY.

Sigh – That is interesting, thank you.

I kinda LOVE everything about it!

    • jeanpierre says:

I love it too. But I could never pull it off!

    • byland says:

I’m with you guys. I’ve loved Sarah since her Jack and Jill days (so adorable in such a ridiculous show) and am so happy she’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. Not to mention that crazy bone structure, So gorgeous, but such a chameleon in her work. Very much like Cate Blanchett in that way now that I think of it.

I also love it because it looks very much like something my Mom would wear – and totally pull off. Even in her seventies she’s still more stylish than most women could ever dream of being – myself included.

  7. Malificent says:

Sarah is so lovely, but even she can’t pull off a mash-up of Working Girl and The Matrix.

  8. La Ti Da says:

Hmmm, while I agree a DUI is a serious offense, I think the fact Lochte’s actions occurred during the actual Olympic games and involved the host country is playing into the decision. There was a whole lot wrong on both sides of that conflict, but it became such an embarrassment to both countries I can see why the Olympic Committee may be contemplating a tough penalty.

  9. Sam says:

The Harambe meme thing is stupid, but mostly not racist. Heck, I’ve actually seen Harambe memes coming from plenty of POC. Granted, yes, I have certainly seen racist ones – plenty got thrown at Leslie Jones. However, most of them are not racist. Most of them are poking fun at what some people perceive to be oversized grief for a non-human. A lot of them are actually pointing out the valuing of an animal life over that of a black child. A lot of them also incorporate that alligator killing a white child. There’s a variety of them. I think people just saying “it’s racist” haven’t been paying much attention.

    • Neelyo says:

Speaking of Jones, her site was hacked and it sounds awful. They got nude photos from her icloud account and posted them, etc. I find the internet horrible as a normal citizen, if I were a public figure I don’t think I’d ever go online again.
