Taylor Swift has ‘been very upbeat’ about the undramatic Tiddlesplit

On Monday night, Taylor Swift did the “performative friend” thing yet again when she went as the “third wheel” on a date night with Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid. Taylor even wore a dress from Gigi’s Tommy Hilfiger line, and Taylor walked ahead of Gigi and Zayn, because she was thoughtful enough to know that the paparazzi wanted photos of her. I’m a little bit surprised that Zayn is down with this kind of performance for a lot of different reasons. While there’s no love lost between Zayn and Harry Styles (Tay’s ex), I guess I just believed that Zayn wanted to get away from the teeny-bopper fanbase that Taylor seems to court.

Meanwhile, Taylor wants everyone to settle down about the Tiddlesplit speculation. This is what People Mag published Tuesday evening:

Taylor Swift isn’t letting the end of her summer romance with Tom Hiddleston get her down.

“This wasn’t a dramatic break up,” a source tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Taylor’s been very upbeat.”

[From People]

She’s usually “upbeat” after a breakup, right? That’s how she usually plays it, if I’m not mistaken. It’s not until we hear the album months later that we realize that she was mortally wounded by love, that the guy was such a terrible person who victimized her so profoundly. And finally, The Sun published an interview with stylist Phillip Bloch, who is described as “a close friend of Taylor’s best friend Karlie Kloss.” Bloch told the paper all about the Tiddlesplit:

“There was too much pressure, including from Taylor’s fans who didn’t take to it. It wasn’t a normal relationship. Tom’s a guy on the up and it was a good look for him, and the people around him were happy for it to happen, but there was no doubt about it, he was in the Taylor show. She’s always been the much bigger star and it was very much about her. For a while it looked good for both of them, but then it went the opposite way and they both ended up getting a lot of flak. There was talk that the relationship wouldn’t last because of how it was being handled and I definitely saw the split coming. It wasn’t a surprise to those in the know. Ultimately their relationship couldn’t be ‘normal’.”

[From The Sun]

“I definitely saw the split coming. It wasn’t a surprise to those in the know…” Nor was the Tiddlesplit a surprise to those of us NOT in the know. It wasn’t a surprise to casual gossip watchers, casual Taylor Swift fans or Tom Hiddleston’s fans. Everyone knew that Taylor and Tom were going to break up sooner rather than later. And here’s my theory: Tom was plotting his way out as soon as he realized the extent of the damage from Kim Kardashian’s receipts. Like, that must have been eye-opening for Tom, to see the extent to which Taylor manipulates situations to always come out the victim. He learned from that.

Oh please it was a contract that went way wrong.

    • Lahdidahbaby says:

I honestly think that whatever it was to begin with, Kaiser is right that Receipts-gate is what brought it down. I’ve thought that would happen from the day Kim dropped the receipts, because Hiddleston seems to be very conscious of his image, and he didn’t want his own rep sullied by association with a notorious liar/professional victim/frequent enemy-maker, PLUS obviously, with all those things in mind he could easily project what was in store for HIM down the line when they broke up if they stayed together long enough for it to look like a serious and permanent thing. And let’s face it, people WERE already talking about Tom preparing to pop the question and Tiddlebabies were in the tea too. I think he decided to cut his losses and end it before they’d been together long enough for it to be like abandoning a marriage.

And so the TayTo was baked.

      • kaiko says:

Methinks maybe the whole Tayto was baked up BECAUSE of the Kim/Kanye debacle. They were such an unbelievably OTT performance from start to finish…Taylor knew months ahead it would hit the news, make her look bad, so she contracted out to Tom for some top notch Etonian kabuki theatre as distraction! Voila!

    • Bread and Circuses says:

I don’t know that I would even say it went wrong, it just didn’t produce the desired effect.

Instead of burying the Kim/Kanye story and bringing Tom increased exposure, Taylor still got slapped with The Snake Emoji of Shame and Tom wound up looking like a twittish boy-toy. They got all the publicity they wanted, it just didn’t play out the way they intended.

But yeah, no kidding the “break-up” is so drama-free. There was no relationship. The break-up with Calvin did have drama, however, because it was real. He got dumped so Taylor could set up a PR stunt.

  2. Sixer says:

    “It wasn’t a normal relationship.”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. You don’t say. I need more of those zoid-y videos.

    • LadyMTL says:

Also this: “It was a good look for him…”

Really? Reallllly? Did he not see that lovely ‘I Heart TS’ tank? Was that a good look for him too? LOL.

      • Sixer says:

        Don’t forget the fake tattoo!

Since I only like LEGS for his legs in a suit, I suppose I should forget all about my Build-a-Bear woes and be thankful it’ll be suits from now on.

      • Miss Jupitero says:

He *only* looks good in a suit. I don’t think I am going to forget those boney gangly legs anytime soon.

      • SilverUnicorn says:

        @Miss Jupitero
        Exactly!

      • Bonzo says:

I’m pretty sure no one but Tom’s youngest, most deluded fans thought Taylor was a good look on him. After the shock of seeing them snogging on the rocks, there was a collective groan among the various fan camps.

Her team is working overtime to spin this disaster of a fling, aren’t they??

Toms legs only look good when covered. Preferably in a suit.

      • Sixer says:

But they do look bloody good in a suit!

(Bonzo – I hope you didn’t sit through all four episodes of One of Us. Most disappointing. New show on C4 starting next week. National Treasure. Drama relating to the historic abuse by entertainers such as Jimmy Savile. It has Robbie Coltrane and Julie Walters so should be good.)

      • browniecakes says:

        “Rear of the Year”.

      • Bonzo says:

No, I hadn’t seen One of Us yet, I was actually going to check it out tonight. I’ll check out National Treasure now that I’m done with The Out-Laws.

I just saw that The Fall is returning to BBC2 at the end of the month!!!! I didn’t even know they were filming another season. This makes me very, very happy.

      • Christin says:

        Paper knickers = No!

    • browniecakes says:

“I loved you in Dowton Abbey” Those Newszoid videos are hysterical and spot on.

    • Miss Jupitero says:

      I want more Newzoids!

I think what happened was that TommyAnnE was presented with the spreadsheet from Luke and realized that the potential for licensing opportunities wasn’t as good as he had anticipated. “True Love” is nice, but without sufficient overlapping target audience and good stats from ImDB, what good is it? That, and the contract expired. Time to ride.

  3. Jess says:

I don’t like that dress from Gigi’s collection. Maybe it would look better if it was worn to go to the beach?

What I do like is Swifty’s new weight. She’s not as thin as she was last year, or even this year at the Grammys; and it looks really good on her

    • Emily says:

Agreed. She looks healthy and a lot softer like this.

When she was super-thin, it made her bolt-ons super obvious and made her look a bit like a blow-up doll (and I say this as a die-hard superfan).

    • SusanneToo says:

It looks like dresses my grandmother wore in the ’50s.

    • Bonzo says:

      Her dress looks very maternal.

    • Christin says:

      Matronly dress plus poor posture.

      • Lauren II says:

Mrs.Roper is slogging along, suffering from Tiddlebanging withdrawal.
Good heavens, that dress and tassle tieback looks like my Nana’s dining room curtains circa Christmas 1977. Trifle, pineapple jello, and shortbread not included.

    • Ellyn says:

No more visits to the beach, but a nautical theme is OK during the post break-up appearances. In the photos posted at DListed, I noticed that TayTay’s plaid shirt security guy was along for protection. Someone needs to write an “as told by” version of the summer of Tiddleswift from the perspective of her guy squad with parallel chapters of tweets and Snapchat images between the girl squad as a sort of Greek chorus narrative.
Hmmm… maybe Tom would want to executive produce the TV adaptation …

      • twilly says:

I was wondering. Where do these security guys actually live? Do they have their own headquarters? Are they on call 24/7; do they receive daily orders and agendas? Have they ever noticed nobody actually looks at her when she’s out? All thoughts welcome!

      • Lahdidahbaby says:

They are kept in her closet with her other accessories.

      • Phoebe says:

I wondered the same thing @twilly! When they were on the “Tiddles Publicity Tour of Love” does each bodyguard get his own room? Does she make them share? Did they bunk up in Mrs. Hiddleston’s bungalow? What does one get paid for a job like that? One of them really does need to do a tell all once their NDA expires.

  4. Kate says:

She will always find a way to spin the “I’m a victim but I’m still plucky” won’t she? Also, does anyone else get the impression that she’s just like “HI I AM GOING ON A DATE WITH YOU TWO AND IT WILL BE SUPER FUN!”?

    • browniecakes says:

…and the paps will be there and my bodyguards and my car. She probably picked up the tab.

    • maisie says:

Also, “DON’T FORGET TO WALK A FEW STEPS BEHIND ME.” Zayn and Gigi look like they’re having SUCH a good time, too. I mean, ducked heads and eyes on the ground always screams “FUN.”

  5. shelly* says:

I think she wears the oddest clothes, mind you if I had her legs, I’d go out in just my knickers and a vest top every day.

She certainly show cases toned and shapely pins, tmDailyfail.

So the relationship wouldn’t last, who’d of thunk it ?

  6. Cousin Erika says:

    They all look really high.

  7. Artemis says:

Taylor always wanted a boyfriend that could deal with her narcissistic ass and acknowledge her existence and when she finally does find her equal in attention-seeking antics, she realises she really wants to be the STAR in the relationship.

She should give up dating people in the entertainment business and date some trust fund/shady entrepreneur dude who can spoil her rotten, follow her around without expecting fame or attention. Clearly, that’s the only way a ‘relationship’ with her can work because I don’t think she understand a normal relationship anyway, like most people who are emotionally stunted after become famous too soon, too quick and praised for essentially being mediocre.

It’s funny, she reminds me of Madonna who also went through many relationships (friends and lovers) because she used people for her own gain and when she finally did fall in love and had a semi-normal marriage and established a real friend circle, got used and lied to end ended up alone with also her friends leaving her behind. Taylor might have the opposite image of Madonna in the media but I feel like her private life is just as controlled, fame-obsessed, vain, narcissistic and selfish like Madonna’s. She just knows a woman like that is loathed in society so she pretends to be the American Sweetheart.

    • Becky says:

Artemis, interesting as they’re both thought the be the same personality type (ESTP). However Madonna appears to be more intelligent, comes from a modest background and she became well known at 25.

      • Squiggisbig says:

Madonna does seem more intelligent than Tay.

Also if Taylor decides to date shady finance bros then Karlie should set her up with one of her boyfriend’s family members since they are the absolute shakiest.

      • Bonzo says:

I expect Taylor’s relationships to be about as successful as Madonnas. I think the two of them have a lot in common. Very ambitious people-users whose security is found only in being the center of everyones attention and being more successful than anyone else.

If Tay’s getting work done on herself in her mid-20s, I think we can expect her to look ridiculously altered by the time she’s 40.

    • lexx says:

This is so astute. I wonder who Taylor’s Guy Ritchie is going to be. That’s going to be epic. Ugh. I’m Ready.

    • Bridget says:

Lol, she should find herself someone more like Karlie’s boyfriend?

    • Abbess Tansy says:

She could stick with someone whose behind the scenes in the industry, such a songwriter, producer, music arranger. They would probably be content to not share the spotlight with her.

    • Ellyn says:

So, TayTay needs to take a page out of Mimi’s dating handbook? Except Taylor has the securely managed funds and the private jet as investment in her own right, so does she really need a corporate merger? I agree that a background person would be a better fit, since being part of the entourage is always going to be job one for the boyfriend du jour.

  8. Bridget says:

What, no mention of how she’s a strong, confident, independent woman?

    • Christin says:

And business savvy. Independent, savvy, upbeat, confident, strong. If they say it, it has to be true.

      • Becky says:

And yet her behaviour indicates she’s anything but confident and strong, more like controlling and manipulative.

  9. AlleyCat says:

I think if Zayn’s album did better, he wouldn’t be caught dead hanging out with Taylor. She is not the type of person he’s trying to appeal to. Unfortunately his sales dropped quite quickly, so I’m sure he’s thinking he needs all the press he can get.

That dress does not look good on Taylor. She looks like the soccer mom picking up her daughter and her bad boy date up from the movies with her mini van. She’s not a regular mom, she’s a cool mom.

    • Betti says:

Taylor’s never had any style – to me she’s looks like the typical country wife who’s been let lose with husband’s credit card in Saks. She’s like the Duchess of Bland – makes lovely clothes look sh!t.

And as for Zayn – he needs the exposure!

    • Artemis says:

It’s Zayn’s own fault he’s a hanger-on to more famous people. Taylor is annoying but at least she works hard when she’s got her album to promote. Zayn was talking all that trash about the group that gave him fame but he couldn’t deliver solo. He’s generic and lacks charisma. Anxiety or not, he doesn’t have the IT-factor despite having a hot face. He was always lazy, even when in 1D (except when it came to cheating, yeah he was pretty good at that!) and now he can’t hide it anymore so he needs women like Gigi and Taylor to stay somewhat relevant.

And who is he trying to appeal to anyway? Not his fans after he broke their little hearts by calling 1D’s music fake. Nobody else was checking for his solo music which is why his album sales were so bad after the first week.

      • Leah says:

I think you got it wrong. Zayn almost never gets papped unless he is with Gigi ( she gets papped almost every day with or without him) . She posts private snap chat videos of him that draw attention to their relationship. Its very much her that is wanting and needing the attention
Ultimately Gigi and Taylor are products of privilege. Zayn may have many flaws but hes a self made muslim asian boy from a poor working class family. His journey from where he started to where he is now is much more of an achievement than Gigis.
As for lazy, everyone knows simon cowell worked those boys hard AF. The cynical view is that Zayn is lazy, but the more his anxiety comes to light its clearly more complicated than that, unless you think anxiety isn’t a real mental health issue.

      • Betti says:

It’s unfair to call zayn lazy, cowell made millions off those boys. I think he struggles as he didn’t deliver with his solo work, his trash talk did him no favours with the music buying public ( he came across like an ungrateful twit) and he doesn’t have the other lads to hide behind. He’s struggling to be a solo artist.

      • Lynnie says:

I think if he had done a few strategically placed performances on some late night talk shows and released a few more singles after Pillowtalk he would’ve been fine. People went crazy after he dropped Pillowtalk that I think they would’ve bought up anything related to “zaYn.” That being said if he plays the “underground” card right he can still pull off the whole fame thing

      • Artemis says:

Yes, because it’s completely ludicrous to think that maybe he’s a lazy douchebag who ALSO happens to have mental health issues? Don’t think you can use anxiety to nullify any other argument that doesn’t support this mindset that he’s a nice, sensitive guy who just couldn’t hack it anymore in a band. Evidence suggest otherwise. I’ve seen 1D perform, Zayn went from floating about on a stage with the other guys to not even going on a stage anymore. It’s not like he, or other 1D members were giving good energy so Zayn never had my confidence that he was going to bring it solo, anxiety or not. And of course, he didn’t bring it. But he still had fans and those fans had hope and joy from 1D’s music and Zayn couldn’t even let them keep it.

Lots of performers have anxiety and manage it, most performers have some kind of issue and they still do their job. Maybe Cowell overworked him but Zayn had the opportunity to live a normal life, work on himself, find out who he is and he went the opposite direction by his own choice. Pun not intended. Before he flopped and didn’t perform, he was saying how much he felt in ‘control’, then he’s failing and the message changes? I would have anxiety too if I would half-ass my career after burning so many bridges, unnecessarily. So far he hasn’t proven a thing on his own and he knows it. Not even his face can distract the most ardent fan of his lack of slayage in his solo career.

Anxiety doesn’t make you throw your ex-bandmates under the bus or did Cowell push him to do that too hm? He wanted to be ‘normal’ and make ‘real’ music? He ended up dating a high-profile priviliged it-girl who models and spends her free time on social media. Perrie and him may have not been that private themselves but he was the more famous one and she got dragged for being with him after he cheated all the time. He bought her a house, got a Perrie tattoo and all sorts of douche tactics to make her stay and she stuck by him even when he was cheating on her 24/7. Then he leaves 1D and she gets kicked to the curb too. Please. He never wanted to be normal! He wanted a girl who was his equal in fame. Both mediocre in their jobs but sooo hot and young it’s completely forgiven! He clearly thinks they’re a power couple given that he posed in that stupid shoot for that magazine and he told Gigi to ‘touch his face’ on the MET gala red carpet. Normal eh?

Then he insulted his producer Naughty Boy and ends up with mediocre generic music that went nowhere. He was in constant Twitter fights and has proven to be quite the messy person when it comes to personal values. People pretend this dude has feeeeeelings but his life, music and lyrics proved he’s got not much too say. Frank Ocean he is not and never will be. He had training wheels with 1D and he still can’t ride on his own!

And just for the record, if he says he has anxiety, then I believe him like I would believe any other person but he could work as a producer or songwriter if he can’t perform. The fact that he wants a solo career, his dating life and public outings prove to me that anxiety be damned, he needs attention and fame. He’s working against himself and of course his anxiety isn’t going to get better when he priorities attention-seeking and endorse faux-artsy social media pictures courtesy of the famous GF. He reads to me more like Justin Bieber than Frank Ocean to be honest.

      • Moonbeam says:

Artemis you seem to have an irrational dislike for him. Flop, hanger on, lazy, all these nasty words because the guy had the audacity to leave a stupid boyband, sometimes the one direction fandom is just as bad as the twilight fandom it’s too much like a cult . Chill out he’s doing him it’s his life and if you really think he’s lazy then clearly it doesn’t bother him so much that he’s a flop in your eyes, coz if it did he would be putting in the work. If it really has nothing to do with the anxiety like you keep saying.
To be fair pillowtalk did extremely well in America , defo not a flop.
Zayn has never been rude to his fans, never been arrested or any of the things bieber did. Frank ocean is a genuis nobody is like him.

      • Artemis says:

        @moonbean:

How is it exactly irrational when all those things happened? I’m not going to praise a musician who can’t write or perform music and who’s only claim to maintaining his relevancy is dating a model who can’t model. Them being pretty doesn’t blind me to the truth of his career state nor his need to be in the spotlight without putting in even the most basic of work.

I have a rational dislike for him based on all the things I read about him and that he posted himself post-1D. I only had a passing interest in 1D’s music tbh, their music is not my thing but I like the gossip that came from it that’s all.

1 hit from a whole album is called a 1 hit wonder. You don’t get to quit the most successful boyband of this era with stupid excuses and unprofessional behaviour to then not deliver something amazing when you’re finally free to do what you want.

The comparison to Bieber is based on claiming to love music but not wanting the craziness of a showbusiness career. He choose the high-profile career, nobody forced him so why isn’t he doing the work?

Zayn is RUDE. He’s rude on social media and he was rude in magazines. He burned so many bridges by putting up his middle finger to his former bandmates and music, by dumping his loyal GF to upgrade his fame status, by dissing his producer (one that worked with many high-profile artists!)… he can never go back. It’s the stupidest move he could’ve done and he needs a good PR team because he won’t last. Like, he’s just as fake as the world he pretends to dislike. His music is just as generic and predictable as 1D’s. Maybe he thought 1D was fake but the money he gained from it sure wasn’t. The fame he acquired sure wasn’t. The business friends he made sure wasn’t. All these things he took for granted, all these fake things are the things that allowed him to try out a solo career and the only thing that’s fake, is his authenticity in it all.

Compared to Harry, who’s always been the most ambitious and charming and who’s taking his time developing different projects all the while still enjoying the things any man his age with that much money would do (partying and women). Harry understands the work it takes to stay relevant. The difference between their approaches to a life without 1D is jarring and the results will reflect that Harry’s approach is the most sensible and smart. There is no quick route, you gotta put in the work. If not, you fail. Simple really.

      • Hannah says:

Hes had his problematic moments. Lazy though is..a well.. lazy way to describe him and his problems. The lazy one” has a collab with M.I.A, a collab with snakehips, and a new track on the get up soundtrack and ghostbusters soundtrack. All 4 tracks realeased this summer. He’s producing a tv show with the man behind law and order and just been announced he has a book coming out with drawings, photos and text published this fall. He’s also been back in the studio with Malay to record the 2nd album. The problem is a lack of live performances to support the album, wouldn’t say he’s generally lazy.
Why is golden boy Harry brought up? You could have just as well brought up Louis who is super messy and far ruder than zayn ever was. Or Niall, what’s he doing these days? Working hard or Golfing? Or Liam.. professional boyfriend much?

      • Artemis says:

        @Hannah

Who’s checking for his music though? Are people really thinking he’s an amazing musician or rather that ex-boybander who is hot and who has a hot GF?
He can collab with as many successful people as he wants and go mainstream as much as he wants, the work for him starts and stops in a studio and the rest he couldn’t give a damn about yet here he is on gossip blogs and magazines bigging himself up. He could go undercover, low key but he wants to be seen. Only not to promote his work, his job. Why should I care about what music he makes when he doesn’t even care to tell me? So to speak then 🙂

I bring Harry up because he has the work ethic to complement his ambition and vanity. None of the other boys, including Zayn, has his calculating work ethic. Dude is just as much enjoying his life but is focused as hell on his end goal which is to stay relevant and probably become even more famous. When the Swift was talking about him, he was wise to keep his mouth shut. Huge restraint that one. That takes discipline. Anybody with a brain knew he was keeping his eye on the future and this includes not burning bridges or get too controversial before establishing yourself as a force in the industry. He’s also a do-er rather than a talker and with the occasional photo op or famous hook-ups, he keeps a low profile. Compare that how Zayn has been handling himself post-1D and you can tell who has the most business minded attitude. Zayn could have been very diplomatic and smart about his choices but he choose to blow up and now his ‘real’ music is not even talked about anymore. He’s more gossip fodder than anything else!

      • Hannah says:

Nobody’s asked you to care! You don’t have to darling! 😃 But you do seem to care an AWFUL lot about him judging by all the long pressed posts you’ve written about him.
its hard to believe that you’re “not invested” in 1D when you use Harry to trash zayn.
Harry’s great at the publicity game who said anything else? I hope he does well too. Wish them both the best, why is it a competition to you? You want to trash him for dating a famous women but you don’t extend the same critical thinking to the others. Double standards.. Let’s do the comparison then. Harry’s a white middle class guy from Chesire.Zayn is Muslim poc working class guy from Bradford. This informs both how they see and experience and how the world see and projects on them.

  10. Chef Grace says:

Well as we say here in the south, well bless her little heart.
Next we will hear from the pastry chef who created thier first date dessert.
He will say he his magical swan pastry wept tears of chocolate, and it’ s cream curdled.

  11. Jade says:

I came here to ask why do people analyse her relationships so much and…why is she allegedly powerful and not to be offended? I like her songs but her influence is overrated, me thinks…

    • Maire3 says:

@Jade: That is how Taylor courted her fan base & the media. Going back to her teen years, her relationships were popular with her young fan base, starting w/ “You Belong to Me” video, where she’s the “nice girl”, the “nerdy girl” pining for the boy dating the “girl with drama”. She dated guys in the industry, penning kiss & tell songs as well as poisoned pen songs with hints in her CD liner notes – a very popular marketing ploy to bump CD sales.

Her media influence is not to be discounted. Back in the day, there where palace whispers about her winning the award category for “Vocalist of the Year” when there was so much evidence she had trouble singing live (Stevie Nicks duet at the Grammys was the most obvious)

  12. honeybee blues says:

I think the problem here is in translation. I hate to be pedantic, but as a music promotor, please let me translate for you: “Upbeat” is a misnomer for ‘uptempo,” as in “the song she’s working on to publicly humiliate and bury what is left of Tom’s reputation is uptempo.” Ergo, she’s uptempo over the breakup. I really hate it when music people confuse terminology.

  13. grabbyhands says:

Okay, so we are now on what…the third explanation about their breakup? No one was buying the other excuses dreamed up by her PR team so we’re on to “it wasn’t dramatic”. I’ll believe that if the next album manages to be about something other than either of her recent ex boyfriends.

Man, Gigi must be desperate for friendship if she’s still hanging out with someone willing to bogart all the publicity away from her new venture for her own selfish purposes. Not to mention third wheeling on your date.

  14. Nicole says:

Yea zayn is with Gigi because she’s up and coming. He needs the press. He only said all that crap about 1D to basically be cool and then reality set in that he burned a massive bridge and the fans did not carry him through. His album was on top for only a week and can anyone name a popular song that he’s done since Pillowtalk? That’s all you need there.

As for Taylor…eh this is typical taylor playbook. She will write some burn songs in her unicorn notebook and act like tom and/or Calvin were the loves of her life.

    • Hannah says:

Meh. He’s 23, no 23 year boy thinks boy bands are cool. He’s not the first and won’t be the last to leave a boyband because he outgrew the cheesy music. Bar salty 1D stans nobody over 14 years old gives a shit that he hated their music. His album didn’t do as well as it could have because he didn’t do promo imo.
And FYI Most 23 year old boys want to date a model. He’s pretty, she’s pretty and the attention is an added bonus.

      • Nicole says:

I mean it’s fine but those guys were his brothers. I’m of the opinion that you don’t burn bridges on your way up because again karma will get you on the way down. I had zero stake in 1D and even I thought Zayn was a douche for how he played it. And to me it would’ve been worth it had his music panned out to anything really. But it didn’t.
Also his fiancée isn’t a slouch. An artist in her own right and gorgeous to boot. Zayn just wanted to dump his entire old life for a new shiny one in La La Land. His right of course but it hasn’t worked out for him at all.
And his album didn’t do well because it was the exact same music he criticized the band for. Generic boy band crap that you couldn’t distinguish as his at all. He had a ton of buzz going into the album release and it had zero legs. So now he’s parading around his relationship because what else does zayn has really? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      • Hannah says:

Bands break up ALL the time. This wasn’t an organically formed band they were totally manufactured by Simon cowell. Those type of bands always have an expiry date.
They were his brothers? Meh.Real brothers would have defended him from the racist abuse he got from their own fanbase.
They all live in LAlala land apart from Niall. They all date more glamorous or high profile women then when they started, kendall,Cheryl, models, Disney actresses
The only people I have heard say his music is “exactly like 1D” are salty 1D stans. No Urdu songs on 1D records, no old school slow R&B jams,Malay definitely doesnt lay down the beats on 1D tracks.

  15. TyrantDestroyed says:

It wasn’t a surprise for no one I guess, since only them were the only ones that believed in the media romance.
P.S. I don’t like her dress and style in the top photo, it makes her look like the nice aunt chaperoning the kids at a night out

    • Poisonous Lookalike says:

You’ve nailed it. I couldn’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about her styling, just knew that something was off. You know that purse has a big bag o’ Werther’s in it.

    • browniecakes says:

We skipped the drama of the ‘unfollows’ , modern speak for ‘I’m hurt.’ The fact neither is upset (like Calvin was) just goes to show there wasn’t any real emotion behind Tiddles.

  16. serena says:

I really can’t stand her anymore.

    • browniecakes says:

I buy into it was Taylor’s show. This won’t really be over until all the blind item songs get rolled out next year.

  17. Nancy says:

Can’t imagine why any guy would want to date her. It’s always the same result. She was more famous, it wasn’t that serious, blah blah……she just unloaded Calvin then went to this guy…maybe two albums of how mean boys are to her. She looks so smug in that pic, probably because she is. We all know she is perfect and pees perfume. Not in the mood for her today. The end.

    • attackofthekb says:

That bit about peeing perfume made me wince. Ouch. The pain. Backstory: I sprayed my lady bits as a young teen once thinking it would mask my lady business smell. At the time I didn’t realize that the smell was normal and that perfume burns. My mom did not guide me through puberty well obviously.

    • Maire3 says:

“We all know she is perfect and pees perfume.”

Explains how we got that Wonderstruck frag. Which, btw/fyi/psa, is no longer carried at Sephora. I guess the “base notes” went sour.

      • Jen says:

Maire3 a friend’s husband bought her a bottle of that Wonderstruck for her birthday one year. There were seven grown women around the table and it was sprayed so we could sample the scent. The reaction of horror was simultaneous. It was a really bad perfume. The bottle is on the top shelf of the bathroom vanity has never been sprayed since.

  18. browniecakes says:

If Tom wasn’t working so far out of her reach (AU), I wonder if she’d extend the contract and be sending Tayforce One (and Two) to fetch him every odd weekend. Or were they just done?

    • lilacflowers says:

She never went to his home; didn’t meet his father; didn’t meet his friends either in Britain or in California; he had to attend a Selena Gomez concert; and that 4th of July thing; he had to leave SDCC and skip all the parties with his friends to go back to her in LA; had to haul himself to RI to see her after flying from Australia to Los Angeles for work and needing to fly immediately back to Australia; he had to contend with her down in Australia during the Kardarseian drama. Everything was about her. Nothing was about him. He seems to be having a great time for himself in Oz. He was done.

      • FW says:

wonder who is the villain that signed poor old Tommy boy up for all these

      • Bonzo says:

As I predicted, at some point Tom was going to exert his will and no longer want to do things Taylor’s way. Once the infatuation wore off, he’d realize that she expected him to follow HER script and THAT would mark the beginning of the end. Both of them want to be in control and she’s the only one with the power to exert any control. Tom was screwed from day one.

Only insecure guys ( and gals ) desperate to be attached to a mega famous celeb would put up with her selfishness and controlling ways. There’s really nothing attractive about her personality, when you see how she treats those she’s with. Once Gigi is no longer in the prime of her modeling career, Tay will be hanging out with the new IT girl.

      • browniecakes says:

Remember when he flew commercial around SDCC time, some woman ‘reporter’ was yelling to him, “do you regret dating Taylor and all the trouble she’s caused?” It wasn’t what he signed on for.

      • Becky says:

The red flag to me that this was definitely not a normal RS (besides the set up pics) was that when they flew back to London from Rome, Tom went home for 2 days, and Taylor was not with him, she flew straight back to the States on her jet. He wasn’t papped though there was a fan pic in a restaurant and he turned up at a studio for voice-over work.

If you’re in the bloom of a new rs surely you’d want to see where the other person lives? He had work commitments, but he had that in Oz too and she went with him then.

My theory is he didn’t want her anywhere near his neighbourhood, because he knew he’d have to go back after the whole thing was over, and it was fake as hell.

      • popup says:

Clearly it’s all on Tom. No one forced him to suck face on rocks, but everyone’s allowed to make a mistake. Taylor has created such a nice girl persona for herself and I can see why he would be charmed by her initially. Among the many problems that led to their implosion, he probably is a genuinely kind person and she probably isn’t. To quote Taylor, he knew she was trouble when she walked in, so shame on him now.

      • saltandpepper says:

Agree with you @FW, who held the gun to his head? He was into this as much as she was, ‘this’ meaning constant publicity and getting papped endlessly, he couldn’t stop flashing his smile. But now that things have gone sour, the switch-on, switch-off grin is gone when he gets papped in the aftermath of the drama he helped create. I’m not a Swift fan, but he wasn’t dragged into this mess kicking and screaming. Quite the opposite. In the process, he’s damaged people’s perception of him being the ‘authentic’ person and ‘true thespian’ he insisted he was. Quite interested to see if the tween of pop will even bother writing a song about him. Not sure she’ll give him more attention than he’s already had.

      • RUNSWITHSCISSORS says:

He also gave up Wimbledon, which really shocked me.

He always seemed to be trying to placate her, i.e. going out to get drinks and takeout in AU after a long day of work. She could easily have sent a member of her entourage out.

      • Emmet says:

        Hello to @Lilac @Sixer

@Bonzo you are so right about this!
I believe when Tommy made that un-paped trip to RI, he turned in his keys and his pager and got back his deposit.

(What really gets me – I actually have a friend who is a Build-A-Bear manager)
        the missed opportunities alone!!!

      • lilacflowers says:

Nobody said anything about anybody holding a gun to his head and nobody is referring to him as “poor Tom” so there is no need to be jumping at fans. He went into the relationship willingly just like most people go into the early stages of any relationships willingly but then a few months in, you realize the person is not who you thought he or she was or that the person just isn’t reciprocating. It is called dating.

      • Cranberry says:

        Agreed @lilac

Nobody said there was a gun being held to his head. It was his mistake, but who advised him to agree to the ‘roll out’ of the relationship ! ? One of Tom’s biggest strengths and faults is that he’s optimistically accommodating which is how I can see that he’d go along with the relationship PR roll out. But who on his team said “yeah, this makes sense Tom”? Or did he just not listen to his peep(s), and followed Tay’s directions as to how the PR was staged? Even so, it was lame and someone should have been fired regardless who’s team.

One thing I hope from all this is that Tom becomes a little more savvy and discerning. I love his optimistic enthusiasm, but either he’s not being looked out for very well and needs to find better handlers, or he has to start being more careful to what “career advice” he agrees to follow and ‘how’ it’s being deployed.

  19. toni says:

She can’t help herself, she’ll find another desperate dude. My suggestion: Superman. Both love fake relationships.

    • FingerBinger says:

Do you mean Henry Cavill? That’s a good suggestion but Swift is too famous. She’d outshine him. He wants to be the star in relationships.

      • toni says:

At this point in his career he’d be glad to have anyone care for him. Most don’t even know him in the industry. Remember that Sony Email-leak and those producers didn’t know him.

      • Crox says:

Isn’t she too old for his taste?

  20. Leah says:

    Zayn and Gigi are gorgeous.

  21. Dippit says:

I’ve been thinking the next album is less likely to be ‘revenge’ songs and that her sense of victimhood will be more expressed as “poor wittle ole me, I am a victim of my own success, never can I be allowed a ‘normal’ life, like a ‘normal girl’, BUT I must bravely continue on hoping and believing some day a true love will find me and I can be a ‘real normal girl’ too” – the above quote from Phillip Bloch seems to foreshadow that this is what we’re in for from a ‘newly matured’ TayTay.

    • Alicat1822 says:

In Taylor’s own words…”she’s not a saint and she’s not what you think…she’s an actress”. Camilla Belle can sleep the sleep of the just because those words more accurately portray what Taylor has become.

Honestly, I can see her going in an entirely different direction and writing the album from another person’s “experiences”. Similar to Garth Brooks when he did the epic weird “Chris somethingoranother” character. She’ll do something totally wacky like summon a character or persona and use her own past experiences, in the most obvious way, in order to “finally make an album that isn’t all about her life, but can’t we all relate to FEELINGS and PERSECUTION?”.
*I could totally see her doing “Anne is no longer in Green Gables” or some such nonsense. But I sincerely hope she doesn’t mess with Anne with an e.

    • Dippit says:

I wouldn’t rule that out – but Marina has already done Primadonna.

  22. Lucy says:

Agreed with all of the comments above stating that Zayn is thirsty AF. Never heard about his album again, besides the first single.

  23. Abby_J says:

Apparently I am not one of the cool kids. I had no idea who Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid were until I looked them up. I mean, I have obviously heard of One Direction, and even have a few of their songs, but I guess I never knew his name. I have the fashion sense of a rock, so most models are lost on me.

Taylor can have those two. I like seeing Tom with Chris and Idris. I want more pictures from the set, though. Is Zachary Levi there yet? And Karl Urban. We need more Karl Urban.

    • antipodean says:

You had me at Karl Urban! More of him please, and I wouldn’t kick Idris out of bed for eating toast, and leaving crumbs either! Both, hot, hot, hot.

    • Lilacflowers says:

Karl is there. I suspect Zachary is too. I need weekly Asgardian videos with Idris, Chris, and Tom on random topics. Others can guest star

  24. Verdant33 says:

I was hoping Tom would have taken notes throughout that whole Kanye thing. Taylor might have even completely lied to him and said she never gave her permission (or spoke) to Kanye about it, at all. Who knows but as a fan of his I’m glad he saw beyond the sweet successful country girl veneer and walked away pretty quickly.
I think everything will be fine for Tom. Still think he is awesome because why would would a short personal mistake he made have any bearing on the work he puts out. I think most of his fans feel that way.
Also that shirt he wore was a big FU to everyone. I thought it was hilarious. Wish more people had a sense of humor.

    • browniecakes says:

I wonder if she wanted/expected him to show some kind of social media support during the Kanye thing and he just stayed in the background.

    • guest says:

Also that shirt he wore was a big FU to everyone. I thought it was hilarious. Wish more people had a sense of humor.
      This!
      +1

    • Dara says:

Count me as one of those without a sense of humor, seeing him in that t-shirt killed the last shred of attraction I had for the guy.

    • browniecakes says:

Late night talk show hosts and RDJ had a sense of humor about the shirt. The TS shirt photos will live on and on.

  25. Hannah says:

Hiddleston made her look young and fresh. Next to zayn and Gigi she looks like their auntie who is visiting from the Midwest.

  26. Beach girl says:

I agree with Kaiser; he’s been plotting an exit as soon as the KK drama hit. Last seen July 27 then a few days later he left for OZ with ALL the luggage. Writing on the wall? Yes. RI was the finale. This has been at best 6 week relationship, not the great summer fling some want to color it.

    • Moonbeam says:

It shows how fickle superficial and image obsessed. One minute he’s taking her to see mum in the English country side and wearying I ❤️T.s tees. The next he’s plotting his escape because he realised prom queen is not as popular as he thought anymore. It was all about his ambition in my opinion.

      • MI6 says:

I think that’s more your girl TayTay ‘s M.O., Moonbeam.
Follows the same script as her other victims
        Oops, I mean boyfriends

      • Hannah says:

Your boy hiddles has shown himself to be just as bad @M16. Two thirsty calculated people both of them. The boy hiddles is slick as eff, girls with a fetish for posh English with fancy education – don’t see it.

      • MI6 says:

There is no way in Hell he’s in the same league as her. He doesn’t have a bad bone in his body and that’s all she has.

      • Hannah says:

lol where did I say he’s a bad man? Slow down girl. Your boy participated in this epically thirsty PR romance because he thought it would further his Hollywood career.
His downfall is he wants so badly to be a leading man he’s prepared to go along with ludicrous stuff like taymerica after knowing Tay Tay for what? A few weeks? End of the day your boy is as thirsty as Tay Tay and kardashians he just comes wrapped in a posh accent and fancypants background . 😂

      • MI6 says:

Why so bitter, Hannah? Closet Swifty maybe? Or a classist, perhaps? Jealous of the luvvies?
Off to Tumblr with you, I say. Cheerio.

      • Hannah says:

        Why so angry my friend?
It’s not my fault that your fave exposed himself as an attentionwhore extraordinaire.
Lets say Tay Tay only has “bad bones” but then explain why your boy with all the” good bones” fell for such a deplorable person ? if this was true love on his behalf and nothing to do with um ..wanting to up his profile in America. I mean, why would this angelic creature fall for the human snake emoji 😂

    • MI6 says:

Agree, Beach Girl. I think the bloom was coming off the rose for him around Comic Con. When he came back to LA it seemed like he stayed in a hotel, probably just to escape her clutches and get some space. And Brownie, I agree his dearth of SM”support” was something she expected (probably demanded, even), and was not happy about not getting.
I think EVERYONE is “upbeat” about this split. I know I am
      😊😊😊

      • Bonzo says:

We sure are upbeat here… I presume Tumblr shares our sentiments.

I’m with Brownie in that it was telling that she didn’t stay with him at his home in London when he had that voiceover work. I think the first cracks were just starting to show. He probably thought the internet would laugh *with* him at the tank top too, then when sh!t hit the fan with Kim’s Snapchats, it was just a matter of time before he was making his exit.

I think he was totally play acting when they did that final pap walk at the chain restaurant. He was counting down the days for his escape to Oz.

      • Bonzo says:

Oops… credit goes to Becky not Brownie, tho’ I often agree with her too!

      • MI6 says:

Bonzo, he looked insane walking in to that restaurant (and almost into walls!) And she looked like the cat that ate the canary. So gross.
As much as I believe he is responsible, I also believe he was dumb enough to jump in without knowing what he was getting into. He was blinded by the spotlight, and boy, did he get burned.
I LOVE that quote, btw. Quite appropo.

  27. gatinha523 says:

Whenever I see her in an outfit like this, I always think to myself that Taylor is going to regret dressing so twee/mature/covered up/old fashioned-y in 10 years, once she ages out of teen-trendy styles and is forced to dress like this non-ironically. I totally regret not dressing in more fun and revealing styles in my early 20’s, when I had the body and youthfulness for it. But then again, I guess those bolt-ons are good for at least another 15 years….

    • popup says:

She dresses in matronly stuff from time to time, but most of the time she’s out and about in Forever 21, bare midriffs and extremely short skirts and shorts.

  28. Beach girl says:

On Twitter: Tom just announced as a presenter Sunday!

  29. Spidey says:

Is it me or has she got slitty eyes?

  30. Nicole says:

My personal favorite is that the quote is from a Karlie Kloss hanger on, that Bloch guy sucks. I met him a few times at the place I worked in New York. He wore those stupid fox fur hats with tails and was a general douche. Anyway, go Karlie and Taylor! I think they are a perfect match.

  31. seesittellsit says:

It’s hard to be heartbroken about a man you were never really involved with, after pretending to be involved with him for only about 90 days – just enough time for both of you to deflect attention from “other issues” in your respective lives, and after spending all of 10 of those 90 days him, most of which time you were accompanied either by your “Girl Squad”, or the paps, or both.

    • Bonzo says:

I’m feeling literary all of a sudden, remembering one of my favorite quotes about infatuation:

“Perhaps in the soul, as in the soil, those growths that show the brightest colours and put forth the most overpowering smell have not always the deepest root.”

      • graymatters says:

I love C.S.Llewis, but never remember any quotes — and certainly not any appropriate for the situation. Nicely done.

  32. matchstick says:

Am I the only one that’s noticed she’s been wearing nautical themed stuff constantly?

    *thinks about her future album*
