Kim Kardashian thought the armed robbers ‘were for sure going to kill her’

wenn29622988

As we discussed, Kim Kardashian was the victim of an armed robbery in Paris very early this morning (Paris-time). The incident went down around 3 am at Kim’s Paris hotel. More details are beginning to emerge about how the armed assailants gained entry to the building, and how Kim is doing now. Apparently, she’s already flying out of France. After she gave her statement to police, she took a private plane out of Paris and I would assume she’s already en route to America, probably New York? Or maybe LA, which is where I believe her children are (with Kris Jenner). Here’s what People Mag has:

Kim Kardashian West has left Paris on a private jet after being tied up and robbed of $10 million in jewelry by armed masked men dressed as police. Five men in ski masks and police jackets were involved in the robbery about 3 a.m. local time Monday, Reuters reports. Two men entered her room at No Address Hotel, bound Kardashian’s hands and feet with tape then locked her in the bathroom before stealing a jewelry box worth $6.7 million in jewelry and a ring worth $4 million, police sources told La Parisien. Her purse, two cell phones and 1,000 euros were also taken, police sources tell BFM TV.

Kardashian was gagged and bound at her hands and feet, then handcuffed and held at gunpoint, according to E! News. After the men left with “all her jewelry,” Kardashian “broke out of her bindings and got out.”

“She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home. Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub.” the source continued. “She thought they were for sure going to kill her.”

Sources tell PEOPLE that Kardashian left her hotel in two vans with a police escort after she gave her statement to investigators. The convoy blew through red lights in Paris en route to the airport, where a private jet was waiting to take Kardashian back to the U.S.

“She is badly shaken but physically unharmed,” her rep tells PEOPLE.

[From People]

There are some questions about Kim’s security and the security of the hotel, and I really don’t know what to tell you. I think it’s more than likely that the hotel was cased by the robbers, just as there was probably a lot of research done into Kim and her jewelry specifically.

The Daily Mail is currently theorizing that this robbery was the work of the Pink Panthers, a large group/coalition of Serbian and Montenegro-based “super-criminals” operating mostly in Europe. The Pink Panthers have a history of stealing jewelry specifically, probably because jewelry is one of the easiest high-ticket items to move and fence. They’ve also committed major robberies in Cannes, Toyko, Singapore and Dubai. Although the Daily Mail says that the group consists of “a loose network of around 200 people,” I would seriously doubt it’s that big. You can’t have a criminal conspiracy THAT large, can you? And damn, if this was a movie, I would totally watch it. I feel terrible for saying that, but it’s super-dramatic, right? Poor Kim. She would be played by Scarlett Johansson in the movie.

  1. Loula says:

The booty they got away with was massive. They’re not sure what to do with it, but tight white pants may feature.

(obviously I’m glad she’s ok, scary stuff)

  2. CornyBlue says:

I hope no one ends up being gross about the situation but this is the internet so lol.
I hope she is safe and in a good mental space.

    • Pandy says:

Of course we will be gross about the situation!!!

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

Starting with- if she was bound at the hands and feet and locked in a bathroom, how in the world did she extricate herself? Is there some embellishment happening?

      • Snowflake says:

        @notsosocialbutterfly
This^ that’s the main thing that makes me doubt the story. If she was bound at hand and feet, then handcuffed, how did she get free? Not logical. If they would fit or exaggerate about that, then what else might be a life? This is the girl that calls wolf. Remember when kanye was supposedly called a bad name by some guy in a doctor’s office building and nothing ever came of it? No employees talked to tmz no video, just her word. Remember when Kris humphries and she broke up and her mom and her filmed scenes afterwards and tried to make it look like it happened at the time? She is a known liar, that’s why it’s hard for me to believe her.

      • Erinn says:

        Butterfly –

I think it’s fair to think that they might not have tied her up too much? I mean – the fact that it was armed robbery – if I knew I could get out of the bindings, I’d probably still not dare to attempt it until I felt like I had a safe window to get out. If she didn’t have an opportunity to get out of them quickly and sneak off, she probably just waited it out until they left.

      • Ange says:

This article makes it sound like they just used tape which, while binding at first, can eventually be manoeuvred and stretched enough that you can get free. Perhaps that was even their plan, to just keep her quiet while they robbed her but knowing she could potentially free herself in the end.

I’m not sure about the bathroom door but I’ve never heard of bathroom doors that lock from the outside?

    • Hannah says:

And that happened in France, a first world country, right?
Obviously Paris can’t host any kind of event with terrorism and thieves, I imagine americans will stop going right way to this awful and dangerous place.

      • Lola says:

I don’t know if you are being sarcastic or not. But hearing an american saying that Paris in dangerous makes me laugh.

      • KB says:

        I think it’s sarcasm…I hope it’s sarcasm.

      • V4Real says:

How do we know Hannah is American? But it sounds like sarcasm which can be hard to read sometimes.

      • Mae says:

Lol definitely sarcasm. Remember people x-ing Brazil from their travel lists? Where is the x-ing of Paris, many are wondering??? (America’s x-ing waits on election results obvs.)

  3. minx says:

    I just…I can’t….

    • Kelly says:

      Me either.
I mean it’s been more than a week since she’s posed topless, this was due. Hate to be cynical, but, come one, what do they expect?

  4. Suzy from Ontario says:

It sounds like professional jewel thieves because they didn’t rape her or hurt her, just tied her up and locked her in the bathroom. If it was thugs of some kind, they probably would have done more to her. In that sense she’s lucky, but I’m sure it was a horrible and very frightening experience. I don’t blame her for wanting to get out of Paris asap.

    • QueenB says:

as terrible as it is, you are right. they were professional thieves and thats the best that can happen in such a situation. specifically if you are famous you wont know if they will harm you or kidnap you.

    • Betti says:

Yes – if it is pro’s then she’ll never see the jewellery again and means she was targeted specifically for what she owns, its very unusual for a celebrity to be targeted like this. Thou saying that there has been a few footballers here in the UK targeted by armed gangs when they were are home and robbed of jewels, watches etc…

      • KB says:

I think celebrity homes are targeted rather than the actual celebrities themselves. The “bling ring” is an example of that.

    • BritAfrica says:

Yes, but that’s a big ‘just’ though.

It’s the possibilities of what could have happened that bothers you the most in these type of situations. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst female enemy.

    • Bridget says:

I’m surprised this doesn’t happen more to celebrities, because so many of them broadcast their whereabouts and luxury belongings.

  5. Melly says:

I’ve never had any sympathy for Kim until right now. What a horrifying experience. I can’t imagine she’ll ever want to travel to Paris again. I bet these robbers had paid someone on her security team and/or the hotel. It would seem like they would need a person on the inside to get information. Thank GOD she did not have her children with her in Paris!!

    • Jess says:

That’s exactly what I was thinking, what a terrifying situation for her, or anyone, doesn’t matter how much money or fame you have. I’m sure she’s shaken and wants to get home. Gives me anxiety thinking about being tied up and gagged.

    • Veronica says:

Agreed. I don’t particularly care either way about her but I feel horrible that she had to go through something so scary. As a mum myself, I can’t imagine how terrifying it would be to think of never seeing my kids or them not having me around. Say what you want about her but she has two kids which I’m sure she loves desperately and love her.

  6. Darkblooom says:

It’s incorrect to call it a hotel. Kim was staying in a private apartment (within a block of luxury apartments). It’s often frequented by celebrities (Leo, Madonna) and it’s called the Hôtel de Pourtalès, which is maybe where the “hotel” misinformation crept in. With those facts, it’s much easier to understand how the robbers pushed through an apartment concierge, which is rather isolated, rather than a hotel one.

    • Colette says:

OK now it’s making more sense,it’s an apartment.
Also I just read her bodyguard was with Kourtney and Kendall.

    • Belle Epoch says:

That’s interesting! The thieves were not actually interested in hurting her. I’m sure she has insurance for that ridiculous amount of jewelry in a “hotel” room. The weird part is that she is never alone, right? Hard to believe she was sleeping unguarded with $10 million in expensive jewels. It would be terrifying to be sleeping and then get tied up, if that’s what happened.

      • Lolo86lf says:

I was under the impression the hotel management provides a safe (not the one in the room but the lobby) for expensive stuff like jewels, why didn’t she use it?

      • Matomeda says:

        +1

      • Bridget says:

If she was wearing it that night, she may have just figured that she was going to put it back in the safe in the morning.

    • swak says:

Would they have vaults where their guests could store their valuables? Just asking since it’s not really a hotel.

  7. nicegirl says:

I would like her to be played by Gal Gadot.

    So glad Kim is safe.

    • hnmmom says:

Glad she is safe, too. Must have been absolutely terrifying. And I think given the photos above, best match to play her is Cher circa the 1970’s.

  8. Tiffany27 says:

I’m glad her babies weren’t there and are safe.

  9. swak says:

I’m sure anyone who gets a gun or guns pointed at them are going to feel like they will be killed. The possibility is always there and anything could go wrong at any time. I would leave right away also if something like that happened to me.

  10. grabbyhands says:

Are trench coats the new shirt or something?

  11. boredblond says:

I don’t want to second guess anyone, but if you had a box of jewelry worth millions, wouldn’t you put it in the hotel safe?

    • JudyK says:

Something about this seems sketchy. She is always surrounded by security.

Even with a trench coat on, she has to expose her boobs. And she took time to put on crotch-high stiletto boots.

If this is legit, I’m glad she’s okay.

      • SM says:

She’s not exposing anything. Her bra was stolen. Sorry, it may be insensitive to laugh now but that joke is impicit in that photo of her with the trench coat

      • Nancy says:

Putting her boobs on display is the norm for Kim. She is very much of an exhibitionist. This situation, tied up, terrorized, not knowing if she is going to live HAS to have some impact on her future. I’ve said it before on the other thread, but she has to stop posting every piece of minutia online. It is an open book to the bad guys where she is. I got jumped from behind walking down the street carrying a bouquet of lilacs two decades ago and I remember every detail and emotion that occurred. Fortunately, like her I was unarmed, but these things change how you live. That’s all I got.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I concur about the sketchiness of the story.

      • spugzbunny says:

What do you mean ‘took time?’ That picture isn’t post robbery!

The amount of victim blaming is disgusting in this thread. I’m the last person to apologise for Kim but I wouldn’t wish armed robbery on my worst enemy.

    • Megan says:

She was staying in an apartment, not a hotel.

    • Notthemafia says:

I don’t know… Most hotels and serviced apartments have safes in the room. I’m not surprised that with the amount of security she usually has around her she would have thought that her things (and herself) would be safe whilst she was in the room. Frankly if someone pointed a gun or any other weapon at me, you could bet Kim’s big bottom that I’d be opening that safe double sharp.

    • Susan says:

People upthread have already pointed out she was staying in an apartment, not a hotel. The building has the word “Hotel” in its name but that is common in France where “Hotel” also means mansion.

  12. Katie says:

Most people’s security isn’t with them 24/7, especially not in a hotel or serviced apartment.

I used to work in a somewhat famous hotel. We had people far wealthier than Kim stay with us, and most of them would only have security with them when they left the grounds (their guards were at another, cheaper hotel and would come when required). Others would have them in a separate room, often on the floor below. It was rare for anyone to have a guard outside their door or in the suite with them all night. Those that did do that were either extraordinarily wealthy (billionaires), shady (people thought to be connected to drug or arms running) or high profile politicians.

None of this sounds odd to me, these things happen more than people might think.

  13. Snowflake says:

Wrapped her mouth in tape? Is it just me or is that weird wording?

  14. Gena says:

The mayor of Paris is talking about it now…trying to save face so fashion week isn’t a bust.

This is so scary. I’m glad she’s okay but now once again terrified for my friends in Paris. If Kim’s army couldn’t stop some robbers what is going to happen to the rest of us?

  15. Size Does Matter says:

I’m glad she’s ok. Also hoping maybe this will be the end of people putting every detail of their lives out for public consumption. It’s dangerous information in the wrong hands.

    • Bridget says:

I was thinking something similar. The only thing that’s surprising is that this doesn’t happen more. Celebs broadcast their whereabouts frequently – Kim’s lodgings weren’t a secret, as most likely were her security habits and what kind of jewelry she brought. Now she knows why those doorknob diamond rings aren’t nearly as great of an idea as she’d initially thought.

  16. shewolf says:

I feel like France is failing in the security department.

    • Sasha says:

France chooses a to error on a side of caution when it comes to restricting liberty in the name of security, The US is practically a police state now. I prefer France I this respect.
But it also means having to be more aware of your surroundings.

  17. yuck says:

Her entourage “blew through red lights” on the way to the airport? What is she, the Pope? I wish I had it in me to feel sorry for her, but the constant self-exhibition puts her in the crosshairs of many. And that is all on her.

    • amilu says:

Seriously. How many innocent pedestrians and drivers did they put in danger by doing that?! Maybe there wasn’t that much traffic that early in the morning, but still… You’re safe now; obey the law.

    • Reindeer says:

Yeah, that bothered me too. I was almost killed in a car wreck at the end of last November because someone ran a red light at full speed. I’m lucky my babies weren’t in the car.

    • Macheath says:

It says quite clearly that she had a police escort so presumably they lead the charge with their lights and sirens on, if it indeed went down like that.
But something tells me you were prepared to find the smallest thing to withhold any sympathy regardless…

      • V4Real says:

And there have been times where police have caused accidents by doing that if drivers do not get out the way in time. They should avoid doing this unnecessarily. Like they said she was safe now, no need to be speeding through the streets of Paris unless she was trying to catch a specific flight. That’s not trying to withhold sympathy, that’s common sense.

    • Lulu says:

I wondered about that too… like is she that important? That they put other road users at risk?

  18. Lolo86lf says:

Kim lost so much weight and looks good, but some of her outfits are inappropriate and unflattering. Pink Panthers, a jewelry heist, an American super celebrity… yes this has all the ingredients for a movie.

  19. dwtsfan says:

Recall the almost car accident in Aspen n how scared she looked, what did she do first? Got out of car to call Kanye to tell him how SHE almost died, what of North? Nothing. She loves her kids but her life comes first. Like she said I prayed they would be born accepting this lifestyle not pray for health.
And who opens their door at 2:30am? Were never going to hear the end of this now, her,Kanye and how each sister would have felt if it were her.

    • Rachel says:

I think you’re being really unfair. Apparently the thieves were dressed as police and they had already gotten past the concierge, so why would Kim suspect anything untoward and do anything except co-operate? I also don’t think you can say things like ‘her life comes first’. She obviously loves her kids to death, and just because she reacts to traumatic scenarios in a different way to how you, a complete stranger, think she should react, doesn’t mean she prioritises herself over them.

It’s also been all of 12 hrs since the incident, so if you could refrain from complaining about how we’re ‘never going to hear the end of this’ until Kim and her family have actually said something about it, that would be super.

      • DTX says:

I agree. I am actually really grossed out how people upthread are making jokes about her “having her boobs out” because they stole her bra too. Seriously??? Some of these “jokes” are quite nasty and misogynistic and holy sh*t…had this happened to Angelina or Zendaya (who are also stunt queens. but more subtle about it) the world would be on fire.

It was like 2 or 3 in the MORNING Paris time, when this happened, which means her bodyguards were probably resting in their rooms for the night making it more likely than not that she was alone in her room. She is not Kim Jong-un to have armed guards sleeping in her room with her at a rented APARTMENT.

If it comes out as a stunt, I’ll judge her THEN and not before.

      • Lady D says:

“She obviously loves her kids to death,” Ya, not really that obvious actually.

      • DSW says:

I must be a really paranoid type, because I don’t open the door to anyone ever. A police uniform doesn’t mean a damn thing to me.

  20. Nancy says:

The thought of begging for your life for your babies is heartbreaking. It reminded me of Sharon Tate begging for the life of her unborn. Maybe Kim will realize what is important in life and it sure the hell isn’t hitting every fashion show with those kids at home. They should be her priority and I hope this opens her eyes. It had to be terrifying to say the least. If harm was intended, she may not be alive……probably just to frighten her to silence. Why is the world so crazy,…….

  21. lassie says:

“She would be played by Scarlett Johansson in the movie.” I’m getting more of a 1974 Cher vibe…

  22. Loca says:

I just think she is the type of person to be back on her snap chat or Instagram later today. The police had already warned Kylie about posting here whereabouts but since this family is so insistant on bragging about materialistic things and putting their business out there. Everything comes with a consequence. Hopefully it knocks some sense into Kim and her whole narcissistic family .

    • lucy2 says:

They do display a lot of their wealth. Wasn’t she just showing off some big new ring? Not that it’s an excuse for anyone to rob her, but common sense might tell you to not be so open that you’re running around with millions on your hand.

  23. Calla says:

My understanding is that she did have a security guard outside her door, but he was no match for 5 armed robbers. I guess she may not continue to be so open about her every move via snapchat anymore. It’s a real security risk for celebrities. I think Ariana Grande should take heed, because right now her fans (and who knows who else) know her every move.

  24. Cool Character says:

Hopefully the people will be caught.

    Crime happens everywhere.

  25. Mollie says:

This is a terrifying and life changing experience. Anybody making fun of what she went through is a sick jerk.
If you’ve never been held up at gunpoint, mouths shut please.

    • Konspiracytheory says:

Exactly. I’m stunned by the shitiness of some of the reactions: victim blaming, discussing what happened to her in light of what she wears, whether she actually loves her kids, etc. This is not the CeleBitchy I know and love. ☹️

  26. Jade says:

Look you can’t brag about money and wear ridiculously extravagant jewelry and not expect to attract some attention from nefarious people.

  27. lucy2 says:

I’ll be honest, my first thought was that this was yet another fabricated story out of Kamp Kardashian to keep them in the headlines while other celebrities are dominating them. But it sounds like this was a real crime, so I am sorry she had to experience that. No one should have to go through such a trauma.
But somewhere, I bet a little part of her mother’s mind already has the wheels spinning on how to make this part of their show. Nothing in their life is dealt with off camera.

  28. Guesto says:

As much as I despise everything about her and her ridiculous family, that’s a seriously nasty experience to go through. Good that she emerged unhurt (physically) from this but the fear and the shock to the system will stay with her for a while and that can be really debilitating. So yeah, sympathy to her for that.

  29. Pandy says:

I smell a Konspiracy. Like she’s ever alone without an entourage. Not surprised they taped her mouth shut lol. Imagine hearing her whining that she worked so hard for her jewellery ….

    • amilu says:

Same. “Kardashian was gagged and bound at her hands and feet, then handcuffed… Kardashian ‘broke out of her bindings and got out.'”

That doesn’t seem like an easy feat — adrenaline surge or no.

    • Jane.fr says:

In France, the news report that there was a stylist with her in the apartment. She was able to hide and was the one to give the alert.

  30. Eric says:

I’m going to give this a few days to have this sorted (locte) and to see if Kim is successful at taking down Ang and Brad and her sister Kylie from the tabloids.

    • Jwoolman says:

If she’s unusually quiet, that means it’s real… She’ll need recovery time from the trauma. But I think it did happen.

But she must have called Kanye after it was over. Did she forget he was in the middle of a concert? Maybe. If she had thought about it, she might have waited to let him know, especially if her sisters were there. It was going to take him a long time to get there regardless. Bad news can always wait… Actually, it was good news since she was physically unharmed.

Why did they need a police escort blowing through red lights to get to the airport for a private jet?!?

      • Ally8 says:

This is a huge embarrassment for France and damaging to Paris Fashion Week. Tourism is already way down due to the attacks over the past couple of years and thieving/robberies targeting normal tourists, especially from Asia. I’m not surprised they would provide a police escort to such a high-profile victim of a dramatic crime, involving police uniforms, too.

  31. buzz says:

How did they lock her in the bathroom? The bathroom locks from the inside.

  32. Erica_V says:

Could she be trying to be Rihanna any harder in that picture?

  33. Mrs. Darcy says:

It’s a horrible ordeal she went through, but walking around dripping in millions of dollars of jewellery 24/7 is just dumb and I’m surprised this is the first time it’s happened. Elizabeth Taylor kept her jewels in a bank vault wherever she was staying and had whatever she wanted to wear delivered to her, then returned to the vault. Common sense.
