Donald Trump is sure Pres. Obama’s half-brother will unnerve Hillary Clinton

wenn24798854

Tonight is the final presidential debate. If Donald Trump gets elected, it will be the final presidential debate of all time, because Trump will usher in a new age of Nuclear Winter. Thankfully, Hillary Clinton has about a million paths to electoral college victory and everyone just needs to take some deep breaths and GOTV (get out the vote). We’ll be doing another Debate Open Post later this evening (the debate airs at 9 pm, on literally every channel). For now, here are some of the political stories percolating through the interwebs.

Trump is a Stunt Queen. Have you noticed that the growing list of women accusing Trump of assault has made him suspiciously quiet about Bill Clinton? I’m sure Trump will bring up that nonsense tonight, but he’s still changing up his stunt queen-ing. He’s invited Pres. Obama’s half-brother Malik to be one of his guests at the Las Vegas debate. Yes, I’m sure that will really unnerve Hillary! I’m sure she’ll be shaking at the thought of… Barack Obama’s half-brother supporting Donald Trump???

Hillary Clinton’s guests. She’s invited Mark Cuban, who is a billionaire and high-level Trump critic. She also invited Meg Whitman, Hewlett-Packard CEO. Team Clinton also spoke to the debate commisson and now Bill Clinton isn’t going to shake Melania Trump’s hand before the debate.

Condoleezza Rice keeps talking sh-t about Trump. The strange bedfellows of this election, I’m telling you. We’re living in a world where both former President Bushes are probably going to vote for Hillary Clinton. I suspect Condi Rice is going to vote for Clinton too. When Trump’s Grab Them By the P-ssy tape came out, Dr. Rice wrote on her Facebook: “Enough! Donald Trump should not be president. He should withdraw.” Now Deadspin and CNN unearthed some video of Trump calling Dr. Rice a “bitch” in 2006 – the context is basically “Condoleezza Rice, she’s a lovely woman, but I think she’s a bitch. She goes around to other countries and other nations, negotiates with their leaders, comes back and nothing ever happens.” When contacted about those comments, Dr. Rice replied: “Exactly. Can’t wait until November 9!” Dr. Rice is a Shade Queen.

Steve Schmidt has won me over. Schmidt was the campaign manager for the McCain-Palin ticket, and he became a MSNBC commentator several years back. I remember his analysis during the 2012 election was always really fair, and he’s been KILLING IT during this election cycle. Listen to Schmidt’s election predictions. Schmidt is a Prediction Queen.

  1. Tanguerita says:

    “Amen” to Schmidt’s prediction.

    • Lama Bean says:

Hopefully he’s learned his lesson after bringing us the Alaskan Maverick. Maybe he’s atoning for past sins. Either way, I like his commentary.

      • Tiffany says:

Beat me to it. He realized he screwed up with Palin. He has been impressing me since then.

      • Melly says:

Ever watch the movie Game Change on HBO about Sarah Palin & that election? I think it’s worth the watch to see how/ why they chose Sarah Palin. I thought it was really good movie too. =)

      • Jessica says:

        Game Change is fantastic.

    • Luca76 says:

It would be crazy if the Dems won the House when it’s gerrymandered so severely to favor Republicans. Hilary could actually accomplish something.

    • Rhiley says:

As a proud Democrat, I have always valued Steve Schmidt’s analysis as well as Nicole Wallace’s, and now I am oddly warming up to Rick Tyler, who was Ted Cruz’s spokesman (I detest all things Cruz and am happy he isn’t the Republican nominee). They are mature, balanced, logical, entertaining. They outshine Joe and Mika in my opinion, and I often find myself agreeing with them more than some of the Dems on MSNBC, like Howard Dean and James Carville.

    • holly hobby says:

I watched Game Change and read the book. I have not problems with Steve Schmidt. He came in trying to really help elect a candidate (McCain isn’t as bad as some as those nutjobs out there. Plus Sarah Palin was chosen by some advisor, not Schmidt or McCain. The advisor didn’t properly vet her either). Yeah he came out disillusioned but I like how he calls things.

  2. lightpurple says:

Mark Cuban, actual billionaire, is how I believe he is styling himself these days.

Yes, Obama’s half-brother. I do hope Hillary manages to retain her composure and not laugh out loud when Trump brings that up.

    • Mke says:

Would she even know who this guy is?

      • lightpurple says:

Probably only because she does her research and would have learned that Trump is planning to bring him. Otherwise, unlikely.

      • Dinah says:

I hope she asks the half-brother for his Kenyan birth certificate. I’m sure Donald will have it in his coat pocket ready to hand to her.

    • Shark Bait says:

I think Obama hardly even knows his half brother. As in has only met him a handful of times. Also the brother has a shady past. Ooohhh scary. He is also bringing Pat Smith, mom of a Benghazi causality who spoke at the RNC. He is such a jerk.

      • lightpurple says:

My heart goes out to that woman. She lost a child. She doesn’t understand why she lost a child. She isn’t getting the support she clearly needs. And Trump and the Republican party are exploiting her.

      • Santia says:

Lightpurple, my heart goes out to her as well. But to say that Clinton “personally murdered” her son is placing the blame on the wrong person. Clinton did not cut the budget for security in Benghazi, the Republicans did. Hillary was the mouth piece, but she had not power to prevent anything happening. It really frustrates me that Trump has made her out to be all powerful (“did nothing for 30 years”) when the government simply doesn’t work that way.

      • lightpurple says:

@Santia, exactly. And yet, Trump (and Paul Ryan, I’m not letting that sleaze off any hook) put that poor woman on a stage in a front of a national audience at that convention, knowing full well that the State Department (John Kerry’s State Department) would issue a statement refuting everything she said the following day.

      • Melly says:

Exactly what lightpurple and Santia said. That poor women lost a child, she shouldn’t be used to further Trump’s agenda. What would have Trump done to prevent her son’s death if he was in that position at that time? He doesn’t understand how our government works and has NO policies or real plans. He keeps saying “Hillary has been in power for 30 years” like she has been our dictator. It always amazes me how ignorant Trump is. How can he think he’d make a good president if he doesn’t understand how our government or election system works?

      • Merritt says:

The problem with Pat Smith is she acts like she has been stonewalled by Clinton and the state department. But that is not true. They are obeying the law and communicated with his next of kin, who would be his wife Heather. Because of the way the GOP dialogue has been many people are unaware that Smith was married with kids.

      • Cran says:

I feel for the mom. I’m so angry with how the Trump campaign is using her. She has a personal animous towards Clinton that is misplaced. She seems so riven by her grief she doesn’t recognize how she is being used & actively participates in her own victimization. For her own sake I wish she had not accepted the invitation. She’s only setting her grief deeper in stone. Even if her son walked in her front door tomorrow I don’t think she would be able to achieve closure. Trump has soooo damaged this woman.

Even the ambassador’s mother doesn’t blame Clinton & has said do not politicize my sons death.

    • Size Does Matter says:

Not that HRC would stoop, but I wish Marla Maples would sit with the Clintons tonight.

      • Cran says:

Based on how pissed off she looked & the non hug shade she threw towards daddy after the debate I think they should have invited Tiffany. Lol.

      • Lama Bean says:

Tiffany is like the red-headed stepchild of that family since she grew up on the other side of the country. I suspect she is not a fan of her father beyond “he gave my mother money to raise me”, especially considering how awful he is toward women and how poorly he spoke of Marla in the media.

Oddly I have warmed to her, maybe because she doesn’t seem like a Trump-not like the other kids.

  3. Megan says:

I think maybe they do need drug testing for the debate. I’d love to know what hallucinogenic The Donald is on.

  4. Jenns says:

I don’t think Trump knows who he is running against….

Why would Clinton care about Obama’s brother?

    • LadyMTL says:

My thoughts exactly! Like why would Clinton GAF about Obama’s half-brother? It’s so random! Who’s next, Michelle Obama’s second grade teacher? Joe Biden’s mailman’s niece?

      Trump is…confused. LOL.

      • Lorelai says:

        “Joe Biden’s mailman’s niece” LMFAO! 😂

      • Dinah says:

Trump’s antics are typical of the entertainer he is and the president he’ll never be. To be president, you have to pay your dues as a politician. Otherwise you’re Karen Black flying the plane in Airport ’75.

      • CactusFlower says:

        @Dinah Hilarious!

    • swak says:

Because maybe Trump thinks she’ll think if Obama’s half-brother supports and will vote for him, many more Obama (and Clinton) supporters will come over to Trump’s side. Who knows?

      • detritus says:

I think he’s literally trying to show her he ‘has’ a black persons vote.
Like ‘see look black people like me too.’

Now that I think about it, does the Donald have any friends of colour?
He mentioned Serena Williams at one point as his friend and she owned him, shooting it down.

      • Shark Bait says:

Detritus, yeah that is a a tactic that Trump and his ilk like to use. Let’s cart out my black supporters. Allen West! Sheriff David Clarke! Ben Carson! Ladies who call themselves Diamond and Silk! Omarosa! and now apparently according to my fb feed last night a woman by the name of Brunell Donald-Kyei.
Do they not understand how insulting that is. It’s like saying look “the blacks” love me.

      • Megan says:

Malik Obama is also an immigrant and a Muslim, so I guess that ticks all the boxes for Trump.

      • Santia says:

I think it’s more of a “look, Obama’s brother is black and a Muslim,” i.e. more dog whistles to his followers.

      • Melly says:

Doesn’t Trump realize that this is a HUGE DOG WISTLE for the birther BS?! Is Trump still trying to win or is he just trying to cause as much damage as possible to our country?

      • Christin says:

All the stunts and crazy things he says makes me think of that one relative whom you avoid at any gathering.

Actually, he makes even my merely gossipy, annoying relatives more bearable by comparison.

    • Scal says:

It’s because he doesn’t know what to do with Hilary. He’s called her a devil and evil and attacked her looks-and that’s all he’s got and he can’t think of any real way to argue against a smart self-assured woman.

OF COURSE he would go around her and go after the men. Because that’s something he can comprehend. And it’s something that would bug him, and he can’t understand why something that would bug him wouldn’t bother her. Attack Bill. Attack Barack. Somehow that’s going to upset her, since he doesn’t know how to speak to women.

      • Tiffany :) says:

So true. He can’t argue with her on policy because she wipes the floor with him in that department, so he goes for random and meaningless attacks.

  5. Lama Bean says:

If she starts the debate by acknowledging obama’s presence and asking how the family is doing, it’s game over. He may melt into a steaming orange puddle before our very eyes.

  6. Tris says:

That’s stupid of Bill Clinton not to shake Mrs. Trump’s hand. I get Hillary Clinton not shaking hands with the lecherous pervert, but there is no reason other than mean-spiritedness for the two spouses not to be courteous.

    • Kaiser says:

Apparently it’s because the Trump campaign was trying to orchestrate some handshake between Bubba and Paula Jones or something. Now Bill isn’t even going to acknowledge Trump’s people.

      • lightpurple says:

Do they not understand that Paula Jones LOST her lawsuit? Does Paula Jones not understand that she LOST her lawsuit?

      • Christin says:

Makes sense. I read that he wanted the four women to be seated with his family at the last debate. Apparently a former RNC bigwig caught wind of the plan and stopped it.

Had the women been seated with family, they would have trotted out for handshakes with HC’s family.

      • jwoolman says:

All these machinations with the Clinton accusers seem to be evidence that the Clintons can’t possibly be all that powerful as crooks. They paid Paula Jones a huge bunch of money after she lost the court case in return for her not endlessly pursuing appeals, but still she shows up for this little performance with Donald Trump with no fear in her eyes.

    • Rhiley says:

I didn’t know the lady in the baseball cap at the last debate (I didn’t watch it because of Hurricane Matthew and only listened to commentary on NPR Podcast) was Paula Jones until Saturday Night Live Lemonade skit. I loved her baseball cap and Victoria’s Secret sweatshirt.

      • MC2 says:

When you are going somewhere to accuse someone of something do.not.wear.a.baseball.hat. A baseball hat hides your “truth telling” face. My lawyer would have slapped me if I came to any meeting with that on. I didn’t want to comment on her style then cuz it felt weird but the woman needed a friend, mom, dad, neighbor or the guy at McDonald’s to say “you are going where?! In that! No girl- there is a Target down the road and here is $20.”

Paula Jones- the mess that keeps giving election, after election, after election.

      • Rhiley says:

Very good points MC2. I didn’t even consider that but you are sooooo right.

    • Elise says:

I think it’s because if he shakes Melania’s hand, he has to shake the hands of all her guests–including Paula Jones.

  7. Bex says:

Somehow I think Hillary has faced prospects much more daunting than the President’s half brother before now.

    • LinaLamont says:

      Yeah…Bill’s half brother 🙂

    • SusanneToo says:

Aawww, surely she’s quaking in her shoes. Right! There will be a whiny little bitch on that stage tonight and it won’t be Hillary.

      • Annetommy says:

Well Trump did say in the puss@y grabbing tape that he moved in on a woman like a bitch. I thought that was quite odd, bitches being female and all. But then virtually everything he says is odd and offensive.

    • Jessica says:

I keep watching the SNL opening. Hi Girls! I all seriousness I doubt that much phases her or ever did.

      • Tiffany :) says:

That was the best part! I had to look it up just now so I could relive it. It made me so happy because she IS a badass made of steel.

“Wait, I’m sorry who’s here? Mistresses? Bill how could you? How could I go on with the debate? Oh no, I’ll never be able to remember facts and figures now. Oh, Donald, no! Get real, I’m made of steel, this is nothing. Hi girls!”

  8. Aims says:

Trump is in meltdown mode and it’s ugly. Maybe for the first time in his life people are overwhelming telling him he’s an ass and he’s literally becoming unhinged before our eyes. I am excited to hear that the Democrats are taking both both houses , hopefully .

If this doesn’t give the Republicans a message , nothing will.

    • Emma33 says:

I think this kind of meltdown is called a ‘narcissistic break’. It’s when reality crashes into a narcissist’s constructed world and they are forced to acknowledge failure.

For some narcissistics this can even lead to violence – I read a book a few months ago about a person with narcissistic personality disorder who actually killed his children and wife when his business failed. (I’m not saying that Trump would get violent, but he’s probably not at his most sane either.)

      • MC2 says:

This is true and when they are at their most dangerous. When a narcissist is cornered, get the f- out of the room.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Yes, I think we are in a scary place right now. He is desperate and dangerous.

      • SMD says:

Yes, Emma3 he is heading for a big meltdown. It happens more often than people think. Movie stars, politicians, very wealthy who have been told for most of their existence they are right, special, talented and deserving of adoration and suddenly things fall apart it gets ugly. He will claim election is rigged and I see him getting his own political TV or radio show where he can continue his delusions with support. Sigh, really wish he would just go away.

      • jwoolman says:

Trump actually has a gun permit. Maybe for concealed carry. Sorry.

    • Christin says:

People are routinely mocking his tweets. I think he’s damaged his brand and rich guy image beyond repair and deep down he knows it.

      • Ally8 says:

I was very cheered by the story that rooms in his new Washington hotel are being sold at discount prices in the midst of a busy season ($750 to break even, but available for $450). Apparently no one wants to give him money or tell other power brokers they’re staying at a Trump hotel.

So he might not even get that hotel on Pennsylvania Avenue.

  9. Paige says:

All I can think of is the latest SNL skit.

Mistresses, Bill how could you. How am I going to remember my facts and figures now. Get real. I’m made of steel this is nothing. Hi girls lol

    • minx says:

When Kate McKinnon chirped “Hi girls!” and waved cheerily, I lost it.

      • Shark Bait says:

Only that Juanita Broderick accused Bill of rape and that one of the women Trump brought was the oft referenced 12 year old rape victim who’s perpetrator was defended by Hillary (and she did not laugh about it right wing memes) so I kind of felt icky with that joke.
But that’s Trumps dirty tricks at play. His defenders are so ardent about defending the constitution but cannot comprehend a public defender would try to defend her client in the best way she knew how. Also Broderick retracted her claims under oath.

      • Tiffany :) says:

Hillary was appointed to defend the rapist at a judge’s request. You can’t turn that kind of thing down. Even rapists are entitled to defense council and she didn’t go looking for sexual predators to defend, she was appointed.

    • Jessica says:

      I just posted that!😊

      • Jessica says:

I’m a lawyer, and you get assigned public defender cases at times. I highly doubt that she wanted to do it, but you owe a duty to your client even if you hate him or her.

  10. Lama Bean says:

I disagree with her policies, but I have THE utmost respect for Condi. To be a black woman negotiating at such a high level with world leaders in the face of so much racism and sexism is praiseworthy to me, especially considering how much crap POTUS has to deal with as a black man. I’m two degrees of separation from her and have been told she is a gracious and wonderful person as well.

    • minx says:

I loved it when she appeared on 30 Rock as Jack Donaghy’s old girlfriend, and challenged him to a piano/flute duel.

    • LAK says:

Condi Rice is the first Black woman in a political position to ping your radar?

How about Catherine Samba, Ellen Sue Johnson, Portia Simpson, Saara Kuugongelwa, Ameenah Gurib, Kamla Persad-Bissessar?

To which list i’ll add: Park Geun Hye, Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Hilda Heine, Michelle Bachelet, Shiekh Hasina Wajed, Ana Jara, Aung Suu Kyi, Yuriko Koike, Savita Gupta, Vaishali Bankar, Fumiko Hayashi, Zekra Alwach, Muriel Bowser, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Mary Broh, Mary Musa, Patricia De Lille.

Not to mention the other 14 female heads of state/heads of government around the world and the iconic women not with us any longer eg Indira Ghandhi or Benazir Bhutto as well as 25+ female Mayors of Major cities worldwide.

      • Lama Bean says:

        Whoa homie. Hold your horses.

I’m sorry-how did you conclude that from my statement Lak? I never said anything like that. And I can respect More than one person at a time, but since this piece mentions Condi, I figured I would stay on point and discuss HER.

      • Boo says:

Where did she say Rice was the first to ping her radar? It’s amazing how people will pull outrage out of literally nowhere.

      • Tanguerita says:

Wow. that came out of nowhere. You really should take a chill pill.

      • susanne says:

I don’t know many of these women. Obviously need to do some reading.

      • pinetree13 says:

Also, not saying those women didn’t do amazing things, but being totally honest, I don’t even recognize a single name you listed other than Dr. Rice. That’s sad I know, but it’s the truth

    • Luca76 says:

As a black woman I have absolutely no. ZERO respect for Condi Rice. The policies she helped to propagate on a world scale were some of the most destructive imaginable. The only things that make her nominally better than Clarence Thomas is that she didn’t sexually harass anyone. Its my strong belief that she like CT is only interested in the rights of herself and not others of her race or sex. Just because she doesn’t like Trump her actions both in service of the GW administration and the various corrupt corporate interests she represented shouldn’t be sugar coated.

      • Tanguerita says:

thousand times THIS. Thanks for summing it up so beautifully.

      • Lama Bean says:

I respect that and understand. I think she had as much power over a lot of her decisions as Clinton did with Benghazi. Knowing how much of a jerk Cheney was and suspecting Rumsfeld was one as well plus Bush43 being controlled by Cheney, I assume she was between a rock and a hard place. Maybe I’m wrong and that’s fine. But regardless she was the first black female Sec of State and that’s noteworthy and admirable.

  11. CoKatie says:

But why does Hillary engage in this? Why not follow the incredible and sensible advice which Mrs Obama uses: When the others go low, we go high”? Take the high road Hillary and let the orange fool continue to look like a fool and a baby. Do not engage.

  12. Keats says:

He did everything he could last debate. This half-brother of a guy she worked with nonsense is a pretty pathetic swan song.

    • Original T.C. says:

Maybe Obama’s half-brother is the only Black person in the world who is willing to vote for the Orange Man! LOL. Trump has nothing so he needs to rely on reality TV gimmicks!

    • Tiffany :) says:

“half-brother of a guy she worked with”

The pathetic nature of this strategy is made really apparent when you phrase it like that! HA!!!

  13. swak says:

It’s never about the issues with him, is it? Will be glad when it’s all over.

    • LiterallyaShambles says:

Nope, it’s “How can I intimidate Hillary? Humiliate Hillary? Beat Hillary? How can I win WIN WIIIIN?!?”

It has nothing to do with being the actual president of the United States. If he got elected there would be grounds to impeach him immediately after the inauguration.

  14. LinaLamont says:

    Chris Wallace.
    Gee… this won’t be stacked/biased. Sigh

    • Rhiley says:

Supposedly it won’t. According to Morning Joe, both candidates agreed because he is fair, balanced, and a professional. He is expected to bring up wikilinks/Clinton’s emails but he is also expected to stink Trump to explaining his policies (Trump doesn’t have any).

      • LinaLamont says:

I hope you’re right, because, he’s been pretty much a toe-the-Fox-line guy in in the past. FTR, I can’t stand him. If they had to agree on a conservative moderator, maybe, he’s just the cream of the crap (not a typo).

      • mayamae says:

Yes, but Wallace has already stated there will be no fact checking. So Trump will go unchallenged on his hundreds of lies, gross exaggerations, and hallucinations.

      • nicole says:

They should of put someone like CNN’s Wolf Blitzer with him to even it out, I bet anything he will be harder on Hillary.

    • ravensdaughter says:

How underwhelming. The last debate may have been a nightmare, but it would have been much more so without Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddutz (one tough cookie!)

    • Santia says:

To be fair, though, the past two debates have been moderated by people considered liberals, so one Fox guy won’t kill us. I’m just worried that the last debate will be what sticks out in people’s minds and if Chris Wallace is biased and helps Trump, it might sink Hillary’s poll numbers. I hope she is not just prepared, but aggressive.

      • Rhiley says:

Lester Holt is a registered Republican. But I think it says a lot that he is mistaken for being a liberal because so many in his party are so far to the right.

  15. cindy says:

For the love of God, what? Did the voices in his head tell him this was a good idea? At this point, Trump is so far gone, he is basically a study in end stage untreated personality disorder/mental illness. This whole thing is surreal. The debate is gonna be….well, nuts.

  16. OSTONE says:

I voted early for the first time (I am an immigrant) and well, Secretary Clinton got two votes from good ole Georgia. My hubby and I both lean right but are definitely moderates, he voted for her too.

    • Radley says:

Congrats on your good life choices. Keep it up. 🙂

    • Tiffany :) says:

      Thank you.

    • Giddy says:

I voted early also, and didn’t it feel good? The polling place was swamped with early voters, and I think Election Day will be crazy with crowds. So I am thrilled to have gotten it done and I highly recommend it! Also, congrats Radley! ImWithHer!

  17. Bethy says:

From Steve Schmidt’s mouth to the elecorate’s brains. I hope Dems take back the Senate and House. Then, finally some progress can be made with Congress if it’s Democratically controlled.

    • nicole says:

Bethy, I am wondering would Hillary have to win in a landslide for this to happen, or just by a couple of points, that would be great if it happend.

  18. ravensdaughter says:

    Why? That’s Barack’s business, not Hillary’s.
    Trump is so desperate.

    • Jayna says:

Not just desperate. Immature and completely unpresidential and bizarre. He acts like a spoiled brat missing a few brain cells. This is a presidential debate on issues, not reality show silliness, inviting Obama’s estranged half-brother, which is a stunt.

And people are voting for the blowhard? Unbelievable.

      • Esmom says:

What people consider “presidential” has really been diminished and tainted with Trump’s candidacy. Once again I blame Sarah Plain for making ignorance and vitriol acceptable.

We can only hope that this s%^tshow is a historical anomaly and not a harbinger of things to come.

      • North of Boston says:

I blame her, and John McCain for inviting her up to the national stage, and 98% of the staff / owners/managers at Fox News.

  19. Louisa says:

This is slightly off topic but honestly this is the only outlet I feel comfortable discussing the election on! I keep reading that Hillary has it in the bag and I think the latest Huff Post poll shows her chances at 94% but I am still worried. I live in a slightly right leaning suburb of New York (Long Island) and my neighborhood is covered in Trump signs. I mean covered. And not one for Hillary. Is it possible the polls are wrong? Or is it more likely Hillary supporters feel intimidated to put up signs? I’m just nervous that if he still has this kind of support in NY state then how much does he have in red states? Could this be closer than the polls are showing?

    • swak says:

There’s only one in my neighborhood (live in the midwest). It reminds me of advertising, that you will see a product advertised more when it is doing poorly in the market place. Maybe Trump supporters think more signs means they will get more votes.

    • Lama Bean says:

Definitely don’t be complacent, but she started with a natural advantage just based on the number of solidly democratic states. The 30% of people in NY who are pro-Trump are probably all your neighbors, but he doesn’t stand a chance in that state.

    • Tiffany :) says:

“Or is it more likely Hillary supporters feel intimidated to put up signs?”

I’m a Hillary supporter in CA, but even I am too scared to have anything with her name on it. People are CRAZY this year and things have just been too violent.

      • Senaber says:

This is how I feel too. We are solidly with her but those trumpeters r seriously nuts. I have a kid and can’t risk being accosted or driven off the road with her in the car because of a bumper sticker… and such things have happened in my town. ☹️

    • Luca76 says:

I read on another site about this very same thing. Apparently to get a Hillary sign you specifically have to donate whereas Trump signs are just handed out for free.

      • Sharon Lea says:

Maybe that explains it in my state, I live in MN, which is assumed to go Hillary and I don’t see any signs. I drove 150 miles this past weekend and saw 3 Trump signs. Maybe the free giveaways is the reason.

      • Rhiley says:

That is interesting… I got a Hillary t shirt and thought about donating for a Hillary sign but I have never really been one for signs.

    • SusanneToo says:

I don’t put up anything pro Hillary because I see Trump supporters as viscious and likely to vandalize my house or car. I live in Alabama.

      • Louisa says:

I agree. I was going to put up a yard sign but my husband talked me out of it, as our son plays basketball in the drive and he was scared someone would say / do something to him. It’s really horrifying that we have gotten to this point.

      • Christin says:

I feel the same way. It’s not worth the risk.

Thirty years ago, someone might have made a little snarky comment, but now it’s far more risky, I think.

    • notasugarhere says:

I’m with you Louisa. I’m worried. There are loads of Trump supporters, ones who think he hasn’t done anything wrong, who believe every lies he tells. And they’re coming out of the woodwork and voting big. Nothing, not a single vote, can be considered unimportant this year.

    • Santia says:

I think part of what you’re seeing is that Trump supporters bleed Trump. They are proud of supporting him (have you seen the new “Deplorables for Trump” and “Grab America by the Pu$$y” signs?) Whereas Hillary’s supporters are more circumspect. We don’t necessarily do signs or rallies. So it looks like Trump is winning, but supposedly the polls tell a different story. i hope the polls are right.

      • Louisa says:

Yes, what was even more depressing was the number of NEW signs I saw go up after the Access Hollywood tape.
I read an article yesterday that said that what is happening with Trump is actually causing women to get sick. And I totally hear that. I’ve been having a really hard time dealing with the fact so many people not only don’t have a problem with his behavior but actually celebrate it.

    • Fl girl says:

I see some Trump signs in my town and no HIllary signs, but I’ve been a Hillary supporter since day 1 and won’t put a sign up in front of my home because I’m afraid some unhinged, Trump supporter will “key” my car or worse!
I’m a registered Independent and will vote a straight Democratic ticket for the first time in my life because I can no longer stand anything about the Republican platform.
Also saw on the news this morning that Trump’s exit plan is to start his own TV station. Trump TV, if you will…

      • adastraperaspera says:

My Clinton/Kaine sign and the one across the street were vandalized last week. We were able to re-bend the wires and get it back up again. I was kind of surprised they just squished it, really, because when I put up my Obama/Biden signs in 2012, both were completely stolen. We have a bumper sticker on one car, and not the other. The car with the sticker has had food thrown on it in parking lots. Although seemingly small, these kinds of acts do succeed in intimidating people and making everyone less free.

    • Susan says:

Well you are talking about lawns so think about that for a minute. There are probably more people in a couple of floors in one high rise in NYC than there are homes with lawns in your neighborhood. But high rise tenants don’t have lawns to display those signs on.

This is why it’s so flawed for people to criticize polls based on their personal experiences. Numbers at rallies don’t correlate to likely voters on Election Day. (Romney had bigger rally attendance than Trump and lost.) Signs on lawns in very specific neighborhoods don’t correlate to voting on a state or national level. Having lots of friends and family who “are all voting for Trump/Clinton” is meaningless as you are not part of all the widely diverse population groups across the USA.

      • Fl girl says:

I hadn’t thought about that (and I lived in NYC for 12 years) and you are right. I find it interesting how many responded that they are afraid to put up signs. I really thought I was being paranoid.

  20. Eric says:

HRC has a 5 point lead in red state Arizona and predictions are that Blood Red Texas is too close to call!!

    • lightpurple says:

And Utah is in play. States that are traditionally hard-core Republican are becoming shaky and turning pink. Paul Ryan is probably having trouble breathing. Hillary is growing coat tails, Trump is losing his mind, and Ryan is losing control and hopefully, his job.

      • Kate says:

The House is not going to flip to the Dems. Gerrymandering at present all but ensures it. The Senate is a different story. The best thing for Paul Ryan’s political future is that he NOT be speaker. If he wasn’t speaker, he would’ve disavowed Trump and would be sitting pretty for 2020.

      • lightpurple says:

No, the House won’t flip but Ryan’s strength will diminish.

  21. Say What says:

    Imagine If President Obama

    -had been married 3 times
    -cheated on all 3 wives
    -bragged about groping women
-made fun of a person with disabilities on the campaign trail
-called his daughters hot and sexy on national radio
    -filed for bankruptcy 4 times
-attacked a Fallen US Soldier and his family
    -dogged the draft
-paid no federal Income Tax for the last 30 years
    -didn’t release his Tax Returns
-Ran a false charity that is currently under investigation for fraud
-threatened to jail his opponent during a debate

I don’t think he would have been elected either

    • notasugarhere says:

      Let’s not forget
      – has thousands of lawsuits against him, many from small business owners he has cheated or refused to pay
      – had an ex-wife who accused him of sexual assault
      – had a charity that donated to the re-election campaign of the Florida attorney general, who then stopped investigating charges against him
      – lied about what was said during official briefings regarding foreign hacking of US government
      – used the second amendment to encourage his followers to assassinate his opponent

    • mayamae says:

      – Had a child with his mistress before he married her.
      – Kept Hitler’s book at his bedside.
      – Quoted and admires Mussolini.
      – Praised Putin’s strong leadership.
      – Encouraged Russia to hack US governmental documents.
      – Agreed with Stern that his daughter is a nice piece of ass.
      – Mocked John McCain for being a POW.
      – Is on camera telling a woman how pretty she looked on her knees.

    • Kate says:

Imagine if HRC (or any woman) had been married 3 times and had 5 children with 3 different men. That’s all you need to say. Ain’t no way she is the Presidential nominee of a major political party. Doubtful she is a US Senator.

      • KWM says:

Please you are being generous, the standard is so high for women, all she would need to be is either divorced or married twice and she would have been out.

  22. bcgirl says:

Can I just say how brilliant Kaiser’s photo choices always are?
That one of the Mr. and Mrs. Trump… almost makes me sad for her.

  23. SMD says:

Kaiser, my girl crush will you be opening the CB bar tonight? It’s saved me the last two debates. Any of the Veranda crew going to around tonight 🍷🍾? Light purple, Spidey, Sixer, MI6, Grace, Chef Grace, Eve??? Hoping to see everyone 🙂

  24. Ally8 says:

There’s the joke, too, that Trump finally found an Obama born in Kenya.

  25. lile says:

If having an orange a n u s looming directly behind you when you are talking to a crowd of people doesn’t unnerve you, nothing will.

  26. GMonkey says:

I wonder if he’s going to have Malik Obama stand up and yell out that Barack was born in Kenya and then Trump is going to say, “See I told you so!” Or something stupid like that?

  27. Elise says:

I’m going to be catching up on back episodes of the Great British Baking Show tonight. I cannot stand the sound of the Trump’s voice. I figure if anything important happens, it will be on the news tomorrow.

Around here, I have seen a grand total of three Clinton signs in five towns over an area of about 750 square miles. There are DOZENS of Trump ones, and I’m glad to hear that the campaign is giving them away for free. I doubt if people had to make a donation there would be a tenth as many. (I wonder if Trump campaign people are putting them up without permission, and if they get flack they offer to pay the homeowner? I have absolutely nothing to back this up but my own suspicious mind.) The good news is that at least one of those Clinton signs has gone up in the last week or so.

Every vote counts. We need to wipe out this evil, reject it in a landslide. Hillary may not be perfect, but as far as I’ve ever heard there was only one perfect human being ever, so I’m not holding that against her. (Okay, his mom was not bad either, but she’s not running.)

  28. Guest says:

I wonder about Papt Smith – would she stand up and say something

I know a lot of people feel sorry for her tgst her son died – I do too – but she’s a grown woman she’s allowing the repub to exploit her – she’s going along

  29. Guest says:

I can’t watch the debate – I get too worked up, lol. I was hoping to the follow the debate on here like the last two

  30. smd says:

Guest, agree I get ragey and scream at the TV (or did the first debate) my hubby said he worried about my blood pressure and he thought I might throw something at the tv. Plus we disagree a good bit this election, sigh. So last debate I came here, followed Kaiser on her twitter and the NYT fact checking posts. Hoping Kaiser opens the CB bar…..

  31. Guest says:

I’m concerned about this moderator Chris Wallace – he’s from Fox and I’m not sure if he’s fair

  32. Beezwax says:

Off topic, but really what is up with Mika’s eyeliner on Morning Joe? I had an aunt in the 80’s that used to heat it up with a lighter (it looked like that) her whole look is dated, makes her eyes look beedy.

  33. Susannah says:

Driving through northern Vermont this summer near the Canadian border, I saw three separate houses flying the Confederate flag (the usual Virginia battlefield one) right next to their American flags. It was too early to see the Trump signs, but I found this overt sign disturbing.
Glad to be home in NYC , where there’s no indication of Trump. He’s just here getting booed at the Al Smith dinner for some tasteless “jokes” about Hillary, who sat gamely nearby. This is an elegant bi-partisan event where all major candidates, politicos, and major press, etc., appear. He started well enough, but then lapsed into the highly inappropriate. He cannot control himself in any situation at all. Beyond dismaying.
