Amal Clooney in Alice & Olivia embroidered bell-bottom jeans: costumey or cute?

wenn29818798

Here are some photos of George and Amal Clooney in LA yesterday. George has been in LA for a few weeks, at least, ever since he spent a week or two in New York last month for the opening of the United Nations. George is currently directing Suburbicon, starring Julianne Moore, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin, Oscar Isaac and more.

Amal visited him on the LA set yesterday with their basset hound Millie. The Clooneys adopted Millie from a shelter last year, but that doesn’t mean Millie Clooney has to like any of this. Millie, I feel, is not here for any of it. Maybe Millie Clooney is merely side-eyeing her mom’s hippie outfit. Because this outfit is… well… um…? Here’s the thing: Amal’s style is so wacky. I actually enjoy the fact that she’s inconsistent and she tries different looks and styles. But I could see this outfit on Vanessa Hudgens, and surely a nearly 40-year-old human rights barrister doesn’t want to look like she’s doing Vanessa Hudgens-esque Coachella cosplay?

The embroidered bell-bottom jeans are by Alice & Olivia and they’re already sold out. I would have worn those (happily) when I was in college. The fringed bag is what makes this look sort of costume-y though, right? Like, this is her retro hippie costume. As for the mustard-y top… it works well with the jeans. And George totally bought Amal a new set of knockers, I think. She’s looking pretty busty.

    Awful.

    • Dirtnap says:

Yep. That is totally something Hello Kitty Clooney would wear.

    • Pixelated says:

I actually don’t mind the jeans but that top is a no-no. She has a banging body, but I just feel like it should be styled differently with those pants. But then again, I think that crop tops on anyone older than 18 are just unflattering.

      • Moneypenny says:

I agree. Leave the crop tops for Kendall and Kylie and their ilk.

The shoes make the look even more costume-y.

    • Sabrine says:

She looks fine. I don’t like “rules” as to you can’t wear this; you can’t wear that because “gasp!” you’re over 30; you’re over 40, etc. Wear whatever you want when you want to wear it no matter how old you are. No one else should dictate or judge what you put on your body. To heck with them. Your confidence will shine through and that is ALL that matters.

    • Kate says:

Oh my goodness. The dog leash is blue to match her jeans and the doggie bags are orange to pick up on the embroidery on the jeans. Does she have an entire collection of leashes and doggie bags to co-ordinate with whatever she wears???

      • Shirleygail says:

I certainly do! Leashes and collars, that is. Mostly because both dogs love to roll in disgusting things, but sometimes, because it’s fun to co-ordinate! The leashes and collars I’m in love with are made from soy product, they wash like a dream, and they are almost as good as leather for communication.

    • Paris says:

      Tragic!

    • HadleyB says:

Forget the jeans, when did I miss her getting implants? I don’t recall her being so full on top.

  2. Aims says:

Pants are really bad . I am in love with their dog ! !!

Bassett hounds are my favorite ! !!

  3. freebunny says:

I love the doggie. It’s all I have to say.

    • Rhiley says:

Yeah, George Clooney’s most redeeming quality in my eyes, is that he is a terrific animal advocate, and I like how he provides animals who are kind of the underdog (no pun intended) a loving home.

    • What was that? says:

      Me too!

  4. LiterallyaShambles says:

That looks more like a padded bra to me.
My first reaction to the outfit was:
“What in the actual ridiculous f*ck?!?”
But after studying it for a bit longer, I love it. I absolutely love it. She went balls-out on this one and she’s owning it. You can tell she’s having fun. Plus my own style is overwhelmingly hippie-boho, so I am a bit biased.
Jeans: 10 out of 10, would wear.

    • Ivy says:

This would be cute on a 24 year old. Not a woman in her 40s. She looks so thirsty omg

      • crtb says:

That is what I was thinking. This would be cute on someone in high school. Most of the clothes that she wears look too young for her age. Please don’t kill me …yes there is no age limit on fashion but I find her clothing a little too short and too ingenue

      • Evil Queen says:

I am pushing 50 and would totally wear those. Sorry 🙂 And unless we are talking about a belly shirt or a Catholic school girls outfit, those kinds of comments are a little degrading.

      • MI6 says:

        Fug.
        Too try hard.

    • Huckle says:

me too! i love these jeans. i would totally wear them.

      • Chetta B. says:

        I love them!

      • B says:

Oh, my hippie/boho self loves, loves the jeans: style, fit and pattern. (Maybe b/c I was born in ’75 & would love to rock that low hip skinny bell, yet not the annoying hipster skinny). hehe, just saying. work it girl.

    • Nasty Little Darling says:

@shambles I feel like this is closer to her regular style as well. I totally remember when she first came out she was always wearing hippie boho outfits, lots of bell bottoms, clunky shoes etc.

Or maybe I’m imagining it. Who knows these days.

    • Elisha says:

Those jeans are everything! I would pair them with a slouchy white tee, partially tucked in. And FLATS. Or clogs. Those hooker heels are not doing that outfit any favors. I hate that top. Which is not actually a crop top. The top needs to be with a high waisted jean and those jeans are too low with that top.

      • Moneypenny says:

Your styling of the jeans is much better. Though she is wearing wedges, not hooker heels.

      • Shannon says:

Can you wear flats with bell bottoms? She really needs to have them tailored, regardless. Hate to see pants (especially such expensive ones, lol) dragging on the ground, it just looks sloppy. It occurs to me that since celebs must know they are being followed and photographed whenever they are out and about living their lives, the crop top could be a response to the incessant pregnancy rumors swirling around high profile couples. Amal is beautiful and classy and certainly has the figure to pull off just about any outfit she chooses to wear. And the budget. As for the boob comments here, yeah, it never adds up when you see a super slender woman with a larger bosom but it certainly could be good lingerie. Why go under the knife when there are great bras?

    • LoveIsBlynd says:

I’m kind of into “no style” style these days because I moved out of my x husband’s house and now pay mortgage as a single mom. I am experimenting with wearing all my old crap from days of yore including the “coyote ugly” trend above of anything from 2002. So the budgetarian in me really likes to see celebs who are equally out of date.

      • stinky says:

Lol! i rocked that look & still do.
i live in my own little world, but its ok … they know me here!

    • Tess says:

Agree. I would have gagged if I saw this on a manequin in a store but she looks amazing. I’m kind of offended by all the comments that she is too old for this or that it’s try-hard. She is both highly accomplished and young at heart and I find it shows in how she has fun with fashion. It doesn’t always work but I admire her style.

  5. Megan says:

Amal just doesn’t strike me as a dog person.

P.S. My six year old niece would love those jeans.

    • Jayna says:

Well, he only had one dog, Einstein, when he met her, and they’ve adopted two more dogs from shelters since they have been together. So I would think she probably is.

  6. Sharon Lea says:

I love them, but with a longer shirt, more boho chic. And love the dog!

  7. minx says:

I wore those jeans in the 70s.

  8. aus says:

love the jeans, but the bag is way to much or maybe I just in general hate those bags!!

to be fair though, At least Vanessa’s genuine style is boho not just for coachella. plus what wrong with boho style?

  9. Jayna says:

I’ve been waiting for a photo of Millie since they adopted her. I love the photo of George carrying her up the steps.

    • Malificent says:

All I can think is that he’s gonna blow out his back again lifting that dog. Very cute, but maybe a teacup Chihuahua would be more medically advisable.

      • browniecakes says:

Basset Hounds are build like cement steps. Long, short and HEAVY. You are right. I volunteered with a friend at a Basset rescue to wash them and help get their nails clipped. It takes two people to lift them safely. And they do what the want.

  10. QQ says:

Oh F*ck this crazy Sh!t I LOVE it… She works that stuff, I’d never dream of wearing something like that but she does with zero self consciousness, and I kinda Love it

  11. Lightpurple says:

More Millie! Less George and Amal!

    • Jayna says:

More Millie, Einstein, and Louie. I love all his dogs. He should only do magazine covers with them. LOL

  12. AG-UK says:

That’s not good for your back George no no to those jeans even if I were thinner and 20 years younger no.

  13. Moo says:

    Crap. Sorry!

  14. Locke Lamora says:

I’m pretty sure Amal can buy herself her own knockers.

Millie is adorable. I alwayd wanted a basset hound but they are so damn expensive.

    • Pam says:

Agreed! Amal is a adult, successful, intelligent, woman in her own right and if she wants to get a boob job good for her. She doesn’t need a man to buy them for her. To suggest that “George bought her a pair ” is kinda sexist.

  15. MissMarierose says:

I agree with what you’re saying about a late 30something lawyer dressing like an early 20something hippie. It might not be so bad, though, if she weren’t standing next to a guy who is dressed like a 50something shlubby dad. His super casual, baggy style makes her high fashion casual wear look really juvenile. He should step up his game when he goes out with her.

    • Lightpurple says:

I have often thought part of the problem was that they rarely dress like they’re going to the same place.

And speaking as a late 30s lawyer, she’s not wearing this get-up to work.

  16. TrueStory says:

    Love it!

  17. Tris says:

Her new boobs are what make it look costume-y. Sooooo stupid.

  18. can't even says:

The only thing this outfit does is show off her fake boobs

  19. delorb says:

I don’t think that style only belongs on someone younger. If a woman has the body to carry it off, why not? She can be sixty and still wear this. IMO, of course. I think she looks great, but this isn’t about walking the dog, otherwise she’d have worn different shoes. Oh and the dog has a perpetual side-eye.

  20. Ivy says:

WOWZERS those are some new boobs. No way in hell that’s a padded bra.

  21. spidey says:

Somebody give that woman a good meal.

    • Why774 says:

If she was overweight, would you say “get that woman on a treadmill”? Some people are naturally very thin, and it has nothing to do with not eating.

  22. Coconut says:

    She’s in her 30s…she has a great-looking midriff…she likes whimsy…I don’t see what the problem is.

      • LAK says:

        Lol.

I do think the plastic surgery was very well done.

      • Kk says:

I mean, all those pics show is that she’s into the newest fashion trends. The trends change, so her style changes. She isn’t into classics (at least for casual wear), she goes all out for the latest trends and has fun doing it. Having seen George’s casual wear, I’m 100 percent sure he has little to no input on her wardrobe.

I could not pull this off, but she looks good.

    • delorb says:

They all look similar to me. Meh.

    • Kate says:

At the time people were claiming this was part of Clooney’s makeover. All that’s designer after all.

      • LAK says:

The point i was trying to make is that her personal style was/is kooky rather than sleek glamazon. GC has always remade his women into sleek glamazon which implies that is his preference. Amal was made over into a sleek glamazon after the engament and definitely after the wedding, but every so often, as in the outfit above, her real style personality asserts itself.

  23. NeoCleo says:

I think she looks perfectly fine. The dog, however, is wonderful. I had basset hound growing up and they are great companions.

  24. L84Tea says:

Her dog’s expression in that first picture says it all.

  25. Sequinedheart says:

The first thing I thought was “holy boobs!”
Definitely a new pair of bolt-ons.
But hey, the outfit is fine – I wouldn’t wear it but she rocks the shit out of it.

  26. Thaisajs says:

She is too old to be wearing jeans like that. It’s like she just stepped out of an old Scooby Doo episode.

That said, I want the dog. Super, super cute dog.

  27. tw says:

That poor puppy having to walk around with these fools. Just kidding. Regarding the boobage – could be the result of horizontal stripes, high neckline and big bra.

  28. Joannie says:

Love it! But she doesnt wear jeans very well.

  29. cakecakecake says:

heck NO to everything but the cute doggie.
I had some similar jeans in 3rd grade, as a grown woman…no way.

  30. tanakalee says:

    Who cares – there’s a doggy!!! He;s the real star 😀

  31. Kris says:

I like it. I would wear those. And she doesn’t look quite as painflully thin in these, which is a good thing. Is she wearing ten inch heels or isshe really this tall?

  32. KiddVicious says:

The jeans are overly embroidered. Looks like 90’s trying to be 70’s. Other than that I like the outfit. I miss the 70’s.

    • A mascarada says:

Exactly. When we have some fashion revival is always overdone.
But Amal is looking great here.

  33. Nimbolicious says:

Millie looks balefully resigned to being trotted out, yet again, as a prop in the latest installment of Keeping Up With The Klooneys.

    • Jayna says:

Yet again? Other celebs post a gazillion photos of their dogs. George’s three dogs are barely photographed except one here or there. This is the first photo of Millie since she was adopted one year ago, last October. Boy, they really trot her out. LOL

      • Amelie says:

Millie has been out to the Suburbicon set several times. I think she helps George review the rushes/dailies.

  34. deevia says:

She looks like she’s having so much fun! If only her top was a little crazier to match those lovely jeans.

  35. KL says:

If her pants fit better, I’d like them. They’re way too big and long for her!

  36. Susie says:

I think she probably had some fun wearing it. I give absolutely NF about age-appropriate wear. All clothing is costuming to some extent. And who cares? And why? Imma go put on my fairy wings and tutu now …

  37. hogtowngooner says:

All around NO to the outfit, especially because it’s so mismatched with what George is wearing, but I’m uber-jels of her hair. Those are glorious locks.

The dog’s face in the top photo is awesome. Millie is NOT having it.

  38. Kat Matz says:

When did Amal get a boob job?

  39. Suzanne says:

She’s just wearing a heavily padded push up bra…real fake boobs would have more umpf above the cup line. She’s a stick. Suddenly she’s got a rocking body? No…she looks starved. Boney and walks knock-kneed which I would definitely try to correct knowing I’m being photographed. Every pic of her has her feet turning inward…awkwardly…like she’s tripping over her own feet.
The outfit is too goofy…for a woman of class. Dress your age Amal. Also…does she tower over him or is it just the camera angle?

  40. Jackie.aka says:

Definitely a new boob job. If you look back at the (ill-fitting) red dress she recently wore to the UN, you would notice extra bulk above the cup line.

  41. stinky says:

    anythings better than skinny jeans.
    anything.

  42. Theoriginalme says:

Here’s a question: why are they so often ill-matched? Ok. One might argue that they are comfortable doing their own thing in terms of dress, and maybe she doesn’t care that he dresses like a Dad…. but wouldn’t you want your guy to look well put together? I don’t mean in an overbearing way, but in a caring way. And I don’t mean all the time but at least some of the time? Dunno. I sometimes wonder if she’s only in it for herself.

    • Kate says:

He’s not badly put together, he’s just casual. His clothes fit, they’re clean, they’re not mis-matched. Jeans and a T-shirt is hardly an unusually casual outfit.

They just have different styles. He prefers to be casual when possible, she likes to dress up more. I don’t know why people care or think one of them should have to change.

  43. EMAu says:

The only feature I like about her is her hair. This aside, she has the body of a teenage boy.

  44. cindyp says:

She looks ridiculous. The top & jeans are fun, but the puffy hair & platform sandals are absurd. I’m really starting to dislike her.

  45. shouldawoulda says:

She looks like Clooney’s daughter. She must be the laughing stock of the legal/justice world.

    • Nemera77 says:

I don’t think the Legal and Justice world care very much about her one way or another. She is hardly the mover and shaker some people make her out to be.

      • Amelie says:

Hm, well some in the legal world do care…

        From 9/13/15 Daily Mail:
“‘I’m sure she gets such high-profile cases and everyone wants her because she’s married to George Clooney; and by employing her they’ll give publicity to their case,’ Lord Faulks (Edward Faulks, QC, British Minister of Justice) tells me at a book launch in London.”

        And from the same article…

“There are plenty of clever lawyers out there — many with considerably more impressive human rights records than Amal Clooney,’ points out Jonathan Ames, editor of law website Legal Cheek. But her intellectual and professional muscle — and even her base sex appeal — is nothing compared to one fact: she married a Hollywood heart-throb called George.”

    • Minxx says:

I liked her better before she became Mrs. Clooney, even with her kooky style. But now she’s always trying so hard -she’s going for a boho/hippie look with the clothes but her hair , earrings and sunglasses are way too Jackie O. And the new bolt-ons are very distracting. I am also agreeing with those who said those pants are way too young for her but I support her right to look ridiculous if she wants to :). The jeans wouldn’t bother me so much if she paired them with casual, white shirt and flats.

  46. siri says:

Why not including the strange looking kiss they shared on set:
    http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/10/21/02/39913D8C00000578-3857770-TLC_The_38_year_old_locked_lips_with_her_famous_husband_as_she_p-a-2_1477015033005.jpg

He can’t help looking at the photographer:
    http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/10/21/01/39913DAC00000578-3857770-image-m-20_1477010420087.jpg

As for this outfit, I usually like hippy style, but it makes her look even thinner. The camera adds 10 pounds they say, so she really must be stick thin. But as long as she is happy with it, and more importantly, healthy…The top I don’t like, but in general all her outfits are too planned. There’s just too much effort going into all of this, and she never looks relaxed, not even on a set. But the star is the dog anyway- love it.
