Bella Hadid’s biggest body insecurity: ‘I wish my ass was bigger’

FFN_FFUK_HADID_B_9182016_52178393

Last month, Bella Hadid was confirmed for this year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. It will be her first time walking the VS runway, although Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid did last year’s show. I think Bella is an obvious choice for VS, much like Gigi – they have the VS look, and both young women have… how shall I say it? Great boobs. Yes, let’s say it that way. Both Hadid sisters have aspirational busts. To celebrate this new milestone in her modeling career, Bella gave an exclusive interview to People Magazine about how she accidentally lost a lot of weight this year and she totally wishes she had her old, pre-weight-loss bust and butt. Some quotes from the interview:

Weight fluctuations: “I have lost weight and gained weight. My weight fluctuates so much. I really didn’t mean to [lose weight]. Like I want boobs. I want my ass back. But it’s not my fault. My weight fluctuates and so does everybody’s and I think that if people are gonna judge, that’s the worst you can possibly do because everybody is different.”

Her accidental weight loss: She’s been adhering to a strict diet and intense exercising regimen. “I worked out so hard and everybody is like, ‘Oh, she looks so skinny blah, blah, blah. But I think that if you just stick to something you can really achieve so much. I’ve been eating hard protein every day, and working out for three hours every day. It’s crazy but I think that you know if you set your mind to something I think you can succeed.”

She’s good at sticking to her diet: “I like to eat healthy and not eat crazy plane food. I like to still make sure my diet is good and I stay hydrated and stuff. That’s basically all I do.” But she still has cheat days, she admits. “I’m going to eat pasta right now. If you want to have a piece of bread, go have a piece of bread.”

Her trainer is Rob Piela at Gotham Gym: “He’s really the best. I literally can’t work out with anybody. It has to be me and him. If I am working with other people, I freak out.”

Insecurities: “I think every single person in the world has insecurities. It’s crazy because I think that when other people look at all of the VS models or all of the girls [who] are walking, they’re like, ‘They’re not human. They don’t have any insecurities.’ But I think every single girl [who’s] going to be walking probably has an insecurity.” As for hers? “I wish my ass was bigger.”

[From People]

I don’t think you can say you “accidentally” lost weight when you’re maintaining three-hour-a-day workouts and a strict high-protein diet. That’s not an accident! That’s a regiment. That’s a conscious choice. Anyway, this interview was conducted during Bella’s Victoria’s Secret fitting, and my guess is that she – and every other VS model – has been on a diet and hardcore workout schedule for weeks simply because of the show. So maybe after the show, Bella will eat more pasta and her butt will come back.

  1. paolanqar says:

    She is not fooling anybody.
She clearly doesn’t eat enough and workouts too much. When she says she keeps hydrated she probably means that her meals consist in a big, tall glass of water. Twice a day.
She was skinny to start with and she wanted to be a VS model so much that she started a regimen. That doesn’t happen by accident.

    • ell says:

‘She clearly doesn’t eat enough and workouts too much.’

she looks healthy though, she’s slim but not skinny. other models, yes, some are really really thin. bella is fine.

    • Dani says:

She doesn’t look malnourished to me. I believe her that she eats high in protein and works out three times a day which is why she’s burning so much and losing quickly.

  2. Darkladi says:

I’d like to add a “b*tch, please” to the end of this article

  3. Lora says:

Whats weird is that I follow her on snapchat and all she does is eat unhealthy food?!

    • paolanqar says:

she takes pics with it, it doesn’t mean she eats it.

      • PowerToThePeaceful says:

I could buy this. She’s a model but the culture wants the impossible. Skinny long legs plus gigantic t&a. Problem is god doesn’t typically make women in those proportions. Welcome to reality tv USA where everyone is insecure and gullible

  4. minx says:

    Oh, brother.

  5. Pedro45 says:

Never in my life have I accidentally spent 3 hours a day at the gym.

    • Ankhel says:

Maybe she lives above the gym, and the floors are rotten, and she keeps falling down there?

    • Goats on the Roof says:

Someone fetch this girl a dictionary ASAP! Poor thing doesn’t know what ‘accidentally’ means.

    • Cee says:

To me just 1 hour at the gym is enough lol

      • swak says:

Wish I could get one hour in!

      • Cee says:

Swak – I wake up 2 hours earlier to do it. It sucks, I hate it, but I had to. I’m also NOT a morning person.

      • swak says:

@cee – waking up 2 hours early for me would be 4:30 am. I have grandchildren at the house at 6:30 every day to catch a bus and if they miss I have to take them to school. I used to LOVE getting up at 5 in the morning and working out. I’m not a night person so working out after 6 pm is rough on me. I usually am watching grandkiddos until 6 – 7 pm depending on work hours. So at least when I can I get outside and do yard work – cutting grass (1/2 – 3/4 acre pushing) or right now, getting leaves off the lawn (blowing and raking).

      • pinetree13 says:

1 hour a gym everyday would be plenty! 3 hours a day seems beyond excessive to me. Though I wonder if maybe she is taking breaks in there, maybe an hour of it is just light walking or something?!?! Otherwise it could be, what do they call it, exercise bulimia?

      • Cee says:

@swak – yeah, there is nothing worth getting up at 4:30 AM for.

I was super sedentary (not even gardening, which I loathe) so I really had to change a lot of things in order to make it to the gym at least 3 times a week.

  6. Shambles says:

She doesn’t have the VS look, to me. She got too much plastic surgery, and now her face just doesn’t look right. Most of the VS models are stunning in the face and look happy and warm, and she’s manufactured and dead-eyed. She messed with nature and now her face looks totally off.

    • ria says:

      Sigh, so much this.

    • pinetree13 says:

I actually think she is really beautiful but she does always have a sad look about her. Like she never seems to be enjoying herself. I wonder if she has a lot of negative self-talk. I’m no model but I don’t criticize my own body in that way.

    • Rina says:

Bella does not have a VS look. Unless VS has modified its look to accommodate her.

  7. Her sister Gigi is mildly attractive. She is not. But, it’s all in the eye of the beholder! Everyone’s got different opinions.

  8. Ankhel says:

It must be SO frustrating to want a traditional model figure, while also dreaming of being a Kardashian. What a dilemma, such grief.

  9. NOLA says:

Why is this girl a “thing”?! She looks so dead-eyed and vacant.

    • Ankhel says:

It’s simple, really. Bella is famous because she’s Gigi’s younger sister. Gigi is famous because she’s Yolanda’s daughter. Yolanda’s famous because she married David Foster, stepfather of several male Jenners. The Jenners are famous because their parent is Caitlyn Jenner. Caitlyn is famous because she was married to Kris. Kris is famous because she’s Kim’s “mother”. Kim is famous because she made porn. See?

      • Bettyrose says:

Ankhel, to be fair, Kim is famous because she made porn while being the daughter of OJ’s famous lawyer. Not just any girl can post a sex tape and launch an empire. (But that’s a pretty hilarious chain of bizarrely connected people giving this girl a career based on fourth degree nepotism).

      • paolanqar says:

wow. Now that you have it broken down like this I get it. All of it.
It is like a ‘Kardashians for dummies’.
        I love it.

      • Clare says:

To be fair, Brody pre-dates Kim, doesn’t he? Wasn’t he on the hills before Keeping up with the Kardashians happened?!

      • Ankhel says:

Don’t rain facts on my paraaaaaaaade 😂

      • pinetree13 says:

        LOL Ankhel that was hilarious.

Also I always thought Bella was the older of the two sisters!!!

      • Wendy says:

To many people Caitlyn is famous because before her transition she was an olympian.

  10. Kylie says:

She has had so much surgery, that she no longer looks like herself. It is a shame.

    • It'sJustBlanche says:

Her face looks plastic and she looks a good decade older than she is, if not more.

Also, why do we read these interviews? I can probably count on one hand the number of times I’ve read a quote from a model that made me think anything other than “okay, honey.”

    • CornyBlue says:

She only had a nose job…

  11. Babs says:

I feel alone in this but to me, Bella is prettier than gigi. I don’t see it in gigi, like at all.

  12. astrid says:

Never in my life have I “accidentally” lost weight. I have the same snarky knee jerk reaction when people say they “forgot to eat today”. Wish I knew their secret LOL

    • me says:

There have been times I have forgotten to eat. It’s like you just don’t feel hungry simply due to stress, anxiety, or a number of other things. It does happen and it’s a real thing.

    • Jennah says:

Believe me, forgetting to eat is not a good thing. It stresses your body out and causes your body’s blood sugar regulation to go wacky. I know a lot of people do that 5:2 diet or intermittent fasting and seem fine but for many, many more people who embark on those plans, within five years they find they have screwed up their adrenal glands, blood sugar regulation, possibly sleep (as their body wakes up in the middle of the night hungry) and so much more.

Source: endocrinologists! Who understand this stuff far better than me!

  13. my3cents says:

    Poor little white girl problems.
She forgot to add that she accidentally got into modeling- her life is just filled with so much accidents ya’ll..

    • Alleycat says:

Poor little RICH white girl problems. I’m glad she has time to go to the gym for three hours, all with a personal trainer. The struggle.

    • paolanqar says:

Why do you make it a race thing?

      • my3cents says:

I think it’s a race thing because for years girls with “big butts ” (aka girls of color) were mocked for it. Suddenly it’s cool- and skinny , rich, vs model is crying unfair, poor me.

      • paolanqar says:

Growing up I remember many white girls being mocked for their big bottom.
It is not a race thing.

      • ya says:

        @paolanqar

it might not seem like a ‘race thing’ to you, but there is a looooooong history of colonial fascination / obsession with the larger backsides of the Hottentot/ Khosian peoples of West Africa that the Dutch kidnapped / enslaved. white women were so envious they changed their style of dress to mimic the shape.

so, ya. the history of racism is there even if the history exists outside of your personal experience.

      • Leen says:

She’s half Palestinian though, and quite a few Palestinians have big butts.

      • Anonymous says:

        @Ya
The Hottentots/ Khoisan are not a West African tribe but Southern African one.

    • Suzie says:

I totally agree. Growing up, a lot of my friends, whether they were white, brown or black used to wear baggy tops to hide their behind. Regardless of ethnicity women have always hidden their behind if it wasn’t small, until a few years ago. J Lo was one of the first celeb to flaunt it and since then it has slowly been seen as a nice trait if it is nicely shaped and pert of course.

      • ya says:

Baby Got Back was released in 92′, back when J LO was still a fly girl with no music career. Culturally, having a big butt WAS good in the late 80’s- early 90’s in urban communities. It was the girls with flat butts that tried to hide.

Black celebrities and music artists celebrated big butts before J Lo. Their celebration of it changed a whole generation’s perspective on what is hot/ attractive.

Women haven’t ALWAYS wanted small behinds. They literally shaped their clothes to accentuate their backsides with hoop skirts and bustles.

      • Annetommy says:

The song Big Bottom by the legendary Spinal Tap shows that ample arses have been a thing for a while.

  14. Grape says:

Is she doing the mannequin challenge in the 2nd photo?

  15. swak says:

Ones weight does not “fluctuate” so much that it effects the size of ones boobs or butt. I consider a fluctuation 5 lbs at the most (which is what most people do). I just wish people would own what they do. If you are working out 3 hours a day and maintaining a high protein diet (which probably includes little to no fat in it), you’re going to lose weight and not accidentally.

    • detritus says:

Lol, yes. This is not caused by eating too much salt, or drinking extra water one day.
This is weight loss through intensive exercise and a controlled diet, at least for macros but most likely calories.
She actually states she has a trainer. At that point, there’s no lies, you are planning.

Accident, I do not think it means what you think it means not-Gigi.

    • Brittney B. says:

“Ones weight does not “fluctuate” so much that it effects the size of ones boobs or butt”

I mean… this girl obviously works out and diets to an extreme extent, but your generalization is also a little extreme. Weight loss affects everyone differently.

For example, my weight fluctuates 5-15 lbs in any given year, due to lifestyle changes/forgetting to eat/stress/etc. When I start losing weight, it comes off my boobs and face immediately. 5 pounds is enough to make a difference in how my bras fit.

      • Mae says:

Yup, 5 pound weight fluctuations is why I have pants in different sizes. I am short though, so minor weight change is more noticeable.

  16. shelly* says:

I feel her pain I really do, actually no scrap that.

I wish my arse was smaller.

I just accidently ate a cream cake.

  17. Chaine says:

Legs look like sticks… reminds me what a guy friend once said: “having sex with a skinny girl is like falling over onto a pile of coat hangers.”

    • Shambles says:

      Eh….. let’s not

    • Suzie says:

Skinny shaming is not on. What gives you the right? A lot of people are naturally skinny.

    • pinetree13 says:

I have long, slender legs and I can assure you that having sex with me is nothing like “falling onto a pile of coat hangers.” I mean, sure, if the guy started trying to hump my shin it might be uncomfortable for him. But so far I haven’t had anyone try to do that (and hopefully never will!).

    • Kitten says:

      Gross comment.

      • stinky says:

Those are NOT 3-hour workout legs.
        Sorry. They’re just not.
        Those are stand-around-drinking-water-and-looking-at-myself-in-the-mirror-at-the-gym-legs.

  18. Ruby says:

I wish my ass was bigger too, but everything I eat goes straight to my boobs.
    Damn you, genes.

    • Cee says:

      I’M SO JEALOUS RIGHT NOW.

I’ve lost 8 kilos recently and my boobs are GONE GONE GONE while my ass is still of a considerable size, mocking my meal plan and gym sessions.

      • Ruby says:

LOL, I have the opposite problem. I’ve lost 12 kilos this year, and my breast have barely changed at all. I can still use my old bras, but my ass is so SAD-looking and so damn FLAT, despite the fact that I work out regularly and do a lot of hiking during the weekends. And it’s not like I had a huge Kardashian ass to begin with either..

      • Cee says:

Ruby we should do some sort of exchange LOL

I had to donate my new bras.

      • Ruby says:

I’m definitely up for that! LOL

    • pinetree13 says:

What the heck! You ladies eat and it goes to your butt and boobs? Mine just goes to my stomach! I have to keep very trim or I look pregnant. Meanwhile my bestie weighs a lot more than me but any extra pounds just land perfectly in her hourglass figure. WHIIIIIINNNEEE Ironically, she always laments not being taller and slender like me.

I guess it really is “the grass is always greener” scenario. Gotta work with what you got! But man would I love it if food went to my boobs/butt!!!!!!!!!!!! Y’ALL NEED TO APPRECIATE THAT MORE hahahahaha 😉

    • Rina says:

Ruby and Cee: congratulations on your weight loss!

I’d be grateful if I could lose an ounce much less a 2.2lbs (1 kilo). 🙂

  19. lightpurple says:

She can have some of my ass. I’ve got enough to share. Just accidentally blessed that way, I guess.

  20. Coop says:

Wow. I know we’re all saying the same thing, but how the heck can you claim you ‘accidentally’ lost weight when you starve yourself with protein, probably vehemently avoid carbs despite your ‘bowl of pasta’ claims, and devote THREE HOURS OF YOUR DAY to working out. That is literally the definition of a fitness regimen to lose weight. You kidding girl? Ditz supreme.

Also, pardon my French, but if I hear one more skinny bitch use the bowl of pasta excuse to make them seem more relatable I’ll crack I swear it.

We all know you order the pasta @ some high end urban eatery, take a bite for an Instagram photo, then probably focus on your spinach salad FOR PETES SAKE Y’ALL DON’T FOOL ANYONE

  21. CornyBlue says:

Wow people are so rude about a what ? 19year old girl for no reason . Like she will obviously not be saying she has cocaine and smokes 2 packs a day to be high fashion thin. Also the blame about being so skinny is so unfairly placed on models when the fashion industry and designers should be dragged through the mud for it. I like both her and Gigi. Dunno wy it always has to be a competition.

  22. Suzie says:

Waouh why so much hate? Because she’s rich, pretty, famous and successful?
By accidently she probably just means that her main goal was to tone up and get muscle definition, not to lose weight, especially not her boobs and ass.

    • Cee says:

If she wants muscles then she needs to eat good proteins and good fats/carbs. If all she eats is protein (and I assume she eats veggies) and works out 3 hours a day then she will lose weight and most of it will be muscle.

    • Suzie says:

This is what I mean, high-protein is very vague, it could mean lots of proteins with vegs and no pasta/bread/rice.

  23. Cee says:

I’m sorry but, did she ever have a butt? I’m not shaming her but she’s always been thin. Like if her concept of ass is a minimal one then how skinny is she right now? Flat pancake skinny?

  24. Syko says:

She may want a bigger butt — I’d just like to see her have some sort of expression on her face.

  25. Neelyo says:

Why doesn’t she buy a new butt, like she did with her nose?

  26. sauvage says:

Reading her interview, I kept asking myself: “English is her first language, right?”
RIGHT? Nothing healthy about that word salad.

  27. ell says:

all these comments… i don’t get it. both bella and her sister are gorgeous, and would be models even if they weren’t on instagram and/or connected. kendall jenner only models because she’s a kardashian, since she seems very average looking, if you have to pick on any instagram model, it should be her.

    • HK9 says:

They are beautiful, but they’d have to work MUCH harder to be models without instagram. They can’t walk and their photos are lovely but average where modeling is concerned. That’s not something you can pull off without a big heaping lump of nepotism and lots of instragram followers.

  28. jerkface says:

Quit your job and eat cake! haha what a weird world

  29. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

    “…regiment. ”

I think your final “t” was a typo.

  30. Anilehcim says:

There is A LOT of body shaming going on in these comments.

All I can say is thank god social media wasn’t around when I was a kid because it only adds more pressure on young women and we already get enough heaped upon us as it is. I’m glad I wasn’t rich like all these girls who live in their mirrors and stress so hard over every little flaw and run to a plastic surgeon’s office to have it all removed or fixed. I absolutely hated my nose when I was younger and wanted a nose job in the worst way, but now that I’m older I actually love it. We all have qualities that make us unique and that whole rich kid Hollywood aesthetic that dictates that all young women have to have the same little button nose and pouty lips and blue eyes and slim body is bullshit, and it’s sad how many young women fall prey to that.

I’m not shaming anyone for getting work done, do whatever makes you happy, but I also feel like there is something to be said for accepting an awkward phase and learning to love yourself even with your flaws, and accepting that you aren’t perfect and that it’s OK. The LGBT campaign “It Gets Better” can be applied to accepting your flaws as well. When we’re young, we’re so easily swayed into thinking we aren’t good enough, or that people can’t accept us but as we grow older we tend to become more comfortable with ourselves and accept our flaws and even love them. I personally think Bella is beautiful, and I thought she was beautiful with her original nose also. When I see a young woman like her friend Kylie Jenner and the way she has created an entirely new face and body for herself, I can’t help but feel sad.

  31. Ayra. says:

I wonder what she’ll do when she realises that when you’re on the VS stage, most models have *gasps* personality when they walk

    • Cee says:

If Kendall got to be on that runway then Bella H will be right at home.

    • Jesie says:

Most of them don’t really. VS gives the models who do have a big personality a chance to show it off, but the vast majority, including many of the top VS models, just smile for a second and maybe blow a kiss if they’re feeling brave.

      • lol says:

I don’t think they have a big personality. And if they have a big personality they don’t show it off.

  32. A Fan says:

She can always ask one of the Kardashians/Jenners where to buy one.

    [*They would know.*]

  33. lemonbow says:

How can you post this comment without posting a photo of her butt? I need to weigh in 😉

  34. Kate says:

Maybe she just meant she lost more weight than she realized she would on her strict regimen? Maybe she was just being inarticulate and really just meant to say that she lost more weight than she had intended? Naturally thin people can sometimes be surprised at how quickly and dramatically their bodies respond to intense dieting and exercise. I put on 60 lbs while pregnant. When I had the last 30 to lose, I started an intense regimen and was surprised at how quickly the weight melted off. I got back down to my pre-baby weight in a couple of months and then kept losing. Lost more weight than I had intended, though nothing about my strict diet was accidental. Maybe that’s all she meant when she says the extent of her weight loss was an “accident”?

  35. ShinyGrenade says:

I’ve been eating hard protein every day, and working out for three hours every day. It’s crazy but I think that you know if you set your mind to something I think you can succeed.

So…. how is the weight lost a… accident? HOW?
And most of us peasantsthat have to work full time, cock, clean and stuff don’t spend 3 h a day in a gym.

  36. lol says:

    She is so beautiful.

  37. Constipator says:

She should mention her busted nose too.
