Drake sings Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ in his new Apple ad: adorable?

Ever since Drake and Rihanna fizzled out yet again, there’s been a persistent rumor that Drake and Taylor Swift could be happening or will soon happen. Taylor made a point of going to Drake’s birthday party, and they’ve reportedly been hanging out, possibly working on Taylor’s new album. Drake and Tay have known each other (socially) for years. And when Taylor decided to cozy up even further to iTunes/Apple Beats by making a commercial for them, she chose to sing Drake’s “Jumpman.” Here’s the ad:

I totally thought that was cute at the time. And here’s a brilliant bookend – Drake is also shilling iTunes/Apple Beats and he chose Taylor’s “Bad Blood.” They dropped this ad in the middle of the AMAs last night – and Apple didn’t even have to buy the ad time, they debuted this in the middle of the show!

This is even cuter than Taylor’s ad. One of the best things about Drake is his ability to laugh at himself, right? So many dudes would not even admit to listening to Taylor Swift. Nor would they invent a dorky dance to go along with “Bad Blood.” I’ll say it… I love Drake. Bless him.

He looks sexy as hell. That’s my nice thing.
This barfy PR crap they’re selling truly makes me ill.

  2. Sam says:

Haha I think both their ads are funny. I think Taylor’s is a little funnier to me though. Is it cute? Eh. I know it’s a business partnership so I’m not like OMG he sang her song! I’m not going to overreact like I know some folks on here will. They’re Apple’s biggest artists so of course they’re going to promote one another. That’s all there is to it.

  3. Kimma says:

He is borderline creepy with the girls he crushes on. He seems like a Stage 5 Clinger 🙁

I don’t know why Drake singing Taylor Swift is hot, but it is working for me.

  5. Alleycat says:

While I like Drake, I think him and Taylor are so extra and thirsty. Like, is this why they fanned the fires of them dating? So more people would pay attention to this? Taylor, can you seriously just go away until your next album?

Drake’s ad made me laugh so hard! It’s awesome. Thanks–these days anything good is welcome.

Looking forward to a Taylor/Drake collaboration. I wonder if trophy happy TayTay’s endgame is to get a new song into Kanye’s usual award’s category so she can take an award away from Mr. ‘I’m gonna let you finish’?

    He’s such a cornball

  11. Maria says:

it would have been funnier, if they had not just tried to push their supposed romance down our throats, which now seems even more contrived.

Seems like they think the public is gullible.

  12. Sage says:

Second hand embarrassment for Drake. I cringed watching the video.

  13. QQ says:

    *cringetown*

  14. Jess says:

So many people complaining about them “shoving their pr romance down our throats”, but let’s be real, they didn’t do anything? She attended his birthday party and he posted a pic, and supposedly they are collaborating… so tell me… what are you guys talking about?

    • Erinn says:

      Shhh. Stop with that logic!

Honestly, that’s what I was thinking, too. They haven’t really done a thing. But I’ve been saying from the start, most of the ‘truths’ about Taylor that we here are from tabloids making a vague stab at something that they KNOW people will eat up. They could take a photo of her standing next to some guy, and there would be a huge story about how Taylor is obsessed with him and talking about marriage and babies and people would believe it because they love to hate on Taylor. Some of the hate is well deserved, but a lot of it is assuming the tabloid garbage isn’t just tabloid garbage.

    • Scout says:

LoL, spot on. They have been seen together exactly one time and that one time was a party with a huge guest list and a swarm of paparazzi waiting outside. This is Apple utilizing their most popular artists for advertising, nothing more.

  15. Angel says:

My Canadian brudda! Goooo Drake! 👍🏾❤️

  16. jerkface says:

    What a dork.

    • Tris says:

But that’s the point! It’s cute that he’s a dork. Or do you prefer your pop stars to be misogynist wankers with embarrassing, misguided political aspirations?

      • Jerkface says:

why are my only choices wankers and lady haters or this nerd? I demand better pop star choices hahaha I mean I honestly prefer to eat a pop tart then listen to most pop people anyway but that’s my jam

  17. Jade says:

Omg this is awesome, in a world of people taking themselves way too seriously this is such a nice reprieve.

  18. nicegirl says:

I am all in. Love it.

  19. Veronica says:

Maybe I’m just not a romantic, but I suspect they’re collaborating on something. I don’t get the sex vibes from them. Friends, sure.

  20. Abby says:

    hahahahaha. Ok, that was cute.

  21. MB says:

Apple would have FOR SURE paid for that ad to be shown during the AMA’s. They would have paid the AMA’s directly, rather than the network which aired it, that’s the difference.
