Janet Jackson is in talks with Netflix for a docuseries on her divorce, career

Even though Janet Jackson called it quits with her husband of five years, Wissam Al Mana, could the Qatari businessman be holding out hope for a reconciliation?

Janet posted a message announcing the split on social media last month, but before her message went public, Wissam posted a sweet, emotional message to Janet on his personal website. He titled the post “Love” and included a photo of Janet. The message read, “To the most beautiful person in the world, thank you for your divine love, your eternal support and for being my best friend. I love you so much, inshallah we will be together in the Great Forever x.”

This isn’t the first time Wissam sent a message to his estranged wife via the internet, back in April after the couple spit, he posted a passage from the Quran that many felt was addressed to Janet.

You shall most certainly be tried in your possessions and in your persons; and indeed you shall hear many hurtful things from those to whom revelation was granted before your time, as well as from those who have come to ascribe divinity to other beings beside Allah. But if you remain patient in adversity and conscious of Him – this, behold, is something to set one’s heart upon. – 3:186

And that’s not all, back when Janet turned 51, on May 16, Wissam allegedly sent her a large floral arrangement made up of over 100 roses and orchids.

We may learn more about what transpired with the demise of the relationship soon, as rumors are circulating that Janet is planning a docu-series on Netflix. According to a report in The Sun, “The show will run as a ten-part documentary and will feature recording sessions in the studio, co-parenting her child with Wissam and preparing for the European and Asian legs of her tour. Netflix are [sic] negotiating a big sum for the rights to the show as they expect it to perform well.”

I’m not sure what’s going on here. I know that Janet and Wissam had a pre-nup, which could pay Janet a nice chunk of change. I know they are both concerned about the well-being of their son, Eissa, but I don’t think Janet wants to be tied down. (She wants to be in “control”…get it?) The couple allegedly split over “cultural differences”, but I think Janet, who is gearing up to hit the road again, just wants to perform. I could be wrong, but I think Wissam would be smart to just move on and be a good father to his kid.

  1. Cash in if you’re nasty.
    *facepalm*

I am rather surprised Janet is considering this series. She has always been so private about her personal life.

    • Jeesie says:

She’s also always been looking for ways to cash in. I feel like everyone forgets she was right there with the rest of her family of vultures hoping to make money off of her brother days after his death. She’s never been above that kind of desperation.

Her music and tours havent been particularly successful in a long time (people blame the Super Bowl, but that was actually meant to be a come back for her). When Michael died so did any real opportunity to make money off of the family name. And now she’s divorced the billionaire husband with a pre-nub.

She lives a lifestyle she’s never been able to support on her own. She picked up a lot of Michael’s habits but doesn’t have the constant stream of money coming in. I’m just surprised she got Netflix interested. I guess we can expect some new stories and footage of a Michael mixed in there.

      • Ramona says:

If she is as big a vulture as you claim why would she be divorcing a billionaire who is clearly still in love with her? This reality show is more about reintroducing herself to the public than a cash grab. Its ill advised but remember that both she and Mariah have suddenly found themselves in the age of social media where your fans need to feel like they know you or they pack up and find someone more available. Her options are either to pop up on every talk show and constantly over share (Jlo), get a reality show (Mariah) or be a judge on one of those TV shows (Britney). The only person getting away with not opening up is Beyonce but her music appears to be extremely autobiographical now so shes just doing it in a different way.

If she were looking to cash in, maybe she wants money without the hassle of a husband? Or it is as the statements suggested; they are too culturally different to stay together, so she’s moving on with life and career. BTW he isn’t a billionaire; his family owns businesses that are worth 1+ billion.

      • KLO says:

        @Ramona,
Public declarations on the Internet for everyone to see has nothing to do with loving someone. It might be a way for someone abusive to control the person who is trying to leave.
I am not saying the guy is abusive, just that “advertising” your relationship with someone like this rarely means that the relationship/feeling is actually that great.

      • Kerry says:

Maybe love never had anything to do with it. Maybe the entire marriage was just a contract.

  3. Luca76 says:

Hmmm I mean by all means leave if you’re unhappy (or if abuse or cheating is going on)but I don’t know maybe she could have given it a bit more time? Considering the baby is like 5 months old.

    • notasugarhere says:

The baby could have been an attempt to stay together, but during the pregnancy they figured out it wasn’t going to work. If they cannot live together harmoniously, why stick it out for a few years and potentially make life difficult for their son? It could be easier for the baby to always have known a life in which his parents live happily apart.

      • Luca76 says:

I get you and I don’t think that you should stay together just because you have kids…OTOH having a baby is so stressful and maybe they just butt heads at that time due to that.

  4. Lolo86lf says:

I like Janet Jackson, but I don’t approve of her getting a TV show about her personal life, her career yes but not her failed marriage. A divorce is nothing good to broadcast to the world. Getting a divorce tacitly means that both of them were unable to work out their differences so they decided to end their marital contract. So I do not feel that she should use her failure to profit.

    • Divorce as failure? This attitude keeps people locked into extremely unhealthy relationships because judgmental.

    • fubar says:

I agree. Please do not air your dirty laundry. You do not need the money. Is this what you want your son to see in 15 years? I have no idea what happened in your marriage to make you leave but keep it between the tow of you. There does not have to be a reality show about every area of a person’s life. And if it is so important to you to have one then make it about your music.

      • RBC says:

What I also find interesting is that she is considering doing this before the divorce and custody arrangements have been finalized. In particular the custody arrangements for her son. That can get messy fast if a parent decides to play hardball

  5. Rice says:

Called this the moment the announcement was made. Miss Jackson wants to be “nasty” again. Honestly, I miss her music.

  6. Snowflake says:

    I would watch it

  7. Mama says:

    No thanks…

  8. kNY says:

She wants to be big again? She needs to make a tune people want to hear on the radio.

  9. BJ says:

I can’t believe people believe this BS when it from The Sun, the worst British Tabloid that exist in terms of being reliable. I would believe the crackhead who panhandles outside the cleaners I just left than The Sun.

  10. Ozogirl says:

Not gonna lie…I would totally watch this.

  11. Bxhal says:

All I know is the Jackson’s and docu series don’t go together. The media is always out to get em. Esp after MJ/Bashir, then Janet on the Superbowl (JT is still thriving on his cultural appropriation shxt whilst Janet was blackballed). Say no Janet.

  12. Lucy2 says:

She has always been so private, this would be a big change.
Why not just work on new music? Everyone wants to take the easy way out with a reality show.
