Hilary Duff spent Labor Day on the beach with her ex, Mike Comrie, and son

Hilary Duff spent this past Labor Day at the beach with friends and family, including her ex-husband Mike Comrie. Hilary hung out mostly in the water with her son Luca and I can’t blame her – this past weekend was brutal, weatherwise. Malibu generally gets lower temperatures than we do in LA but I think all of California was ready to break up with Mother Nature by Monday (actually, it’s California, so we were going to sue her). Anyway, Hilary and crew made the very wise decision to go to the beach and enjoyed what looks like a lovely Labor Day on the seashore, having a barbecue and playing football and volleyball.

Hilary Duff celebrated Labor Day with her son at the beach, and buried any ill will for her ex-husband in the sand … all in the name of co-parenting.

Hilary and her ex, Mike Comrie, spent Monday in Malibu with their 5-year-old son, Luca. Hil was rockin’ her usual 2-piece in the water while Mike chilled onshore.

Getting together for some R&R with their kid is right up the former couple’s alley, post-divorce. They went on a family vacay last year to Maui

[From TMZ]

While this story may get little more than a shoulder shrug from most, remember that Hilary and Mike took two years to dissolve their marriage. The reason was a brief reconciliation that paused the divorce. But since their main issue was that Mike liked sex with other women so much he was willing to pay for it, the reconciliation didn’t work out. However, Hilary and Mike do things as a family all the time, like spending last Labor Day in Maui. They go to dinner, occasionally without Luca. Personally, I don’t think it means anything more than co-parenting as the article states. I think they are very good friends. I think they have always been good friends and that was likely why they considered reconciliation. Fortunately, it looks like Hilary understands how they function best, which is marvelous because it means they can coparent without having to worry if all is well romantically.

Hilary seems to be a person who can move past a relationship. Prior to her weekend with Mike and Luca, she was with her ex-boyfriend, Rise Nation’s Jason Walsh, for a charity event. Hilary, a Houston native, participated in a charity climb sponsored by Rise Nation to benefit the victims of Houston. Hilary posted this to Instagram:

See? Hilary is just a chill ex. Besides, she’s dating SOLr Energy Consulting CEO, Ely Sandvik, currently. And although I want Hilary to be happy, both ‘Sandvik’ and ‘SOLr’ force me to double check the spelling several times so I don’t know that I’m pushing for this relationship. Anyone know a Joe Brown who works for AAA she could date?

On another/personal note – is anyone watching Younger? I love that show and I have no one to talk to about it.

I’m watching ‘younger’ too! It’s a bit ‘soapy’, but I look forward to it every week! I also can’t decide who I like more – Josh or Charles gnngnn 🤔

  2. Talie says:

She seems to have grown into a normal, functioning human being…one of the lucky ones.

  3. CommentingBunny says:

I think it’s lovely. Kudos to them – it speaks well of them both.

My boyfriend and his ex have been separated for something like 9 years and take their daughter on vacation together every year. They are friends, co-parents, and the best example of “1 family 2 homes” I’ve ever seen! She even carried the present he bought for me around in her purse on their last vacation!

I might not ever get there with my ex – our relationship was very toxic – but we get along far better than when we split though. We had dinner together last night for back-to-school.

Anyone who puts aside their own problems with their ex to eke out the best co-parenting relationship possible for their circumstances has my respect.

I’ve just come back from a snorkel trip with muy daughter and her father. She is 7 y.o. and we separarse when she was 2. She doesn’t remember her family under the same roof, but we strive to do lots of things together, movies, beach, trekking… Her father comes yo see movies and eat popcorn many fridays and i go to greatgrandmothers birthday……. But it’s hard work, you have to put your child’s interest first, you have to be in the same page….. Good for them, It is hard

Watching Younger too!!!! I am hooked… hanging out for thursdays each week (day it airs in Australia).

I’m so team Charles but don’t like that the direction of Liza’s love life might be changing again this season.

Happy to discuss the show on here if you’d like, Hecate??

  5. April says:

she looks great, and i love younger

  6. Jess says:

I love Younger!! And Peter Hermann is so hot on it!!

  7. Hecate says:

@Lucretias @Lozface @ Jes – oh thank gawd! The fashion is incredible. I am not only Team Charles, I think I was elected Team Captain last weekend (I had no idea Peter Hermann was married to Mariska Hargitay – makes me heart him that much more *bats eyes*)

    *Spoilers*
I do worry about all their love lives. Josh is going to propose to that girl so she can stay in the country, isn’t he? I always liked Josh and felt sorry for him but I feel like we are seeing the real him this season and I’m glad they broke up. Firing Lauren is going to be interesting but I really need her to remain fabulous, even if only in her own mind. She makes me laugh.

I really like Aasif Mondvi but I’m not feeling that storyline. I think a ‘beard’ for Liza is smart, but hmmm. Plus, I really think something has to come of Zane and his poaching. Kelsey needs a bigger story this season and that was huge yet no repercussions – do you think we’ll see that again? I am also glad that Kelsey and Liza made up because I hated that but it was way too quick. Clearly the writers didn’t like them broken up either. However, maybe that will come around with the Zane thing, Liza owes Kelsey?

And OMG – could you not worship at the alter of Miriam Shor? I would watch a spinoff of her just insulting people. I very much dislike Richard but he is great fodder for her. He needs to go, though. He’s a grifter.

*breathes out* Aack – thank you. I needed to get that out.

    • Mltpsych says:

Love the show, so, happy I found it when it first started. You left out the fabulous Debi Mazar! I love her. Miriam Shore is amazing in this show.

      • Lozface says:

How good is Debi? She is just such a great actress and I love love Maggie! Diana and Maggie are the most entertaining on the show. Wish we got to see more of them.

    • Hecate says:

Debi is amazing (as always) as is her character. Her Maggie and Miriam’s Diana are the tentpoles on the show – they are going to be awesome and consistent and all the other characters just swirl around them.

I am really disliking Pauline’s storyline.

    • Lozface says:

Hahaha @Hecate – can I please be your vice-captain?? He’s just so dreamy. Him and Marisa are just wonderful together. She does the cutest #teamcharles posts on instagram. What a delightful couple.

I liked Charles for Liza from the very beginning, especially given her real age and all they have in common. Josh was great for her for some fun in the beginning, but I just don’t get the real love for him. He’s been quite immature, and was seeing another girl that other time, and then slept with Liza, which annoys me a bit. Plus gave Liza the free pass etc. Now I am just rambling – sorry! But I agree about his true colours coming out now.

Yes, the beard thing kind of works for Liza, but could derail her and Charles, and I am not liking the Pauline storyline at all. It just doesn’t feel right.

Miriam Shor is amazing… not only is she stunning in every scene, but she has the best lines. I would love to focus on her some more! I wish the show went for an hour so we could get more of the supporting characters.

Anyway, so lovely to find somewhere to unload all my Younger feelings. Lets hope there is some progress for Liza and Charles before the end of the season. I really don’t want her to get back with Josh. I almost couldn’t watch it after that.

OH and yes, something has to happen with Kelsey and Zane – he said there was more to it! I wonder what that will be???

    • Lucretias says:

Yay!! Younger fans!! I love the show. Did you know Patricia fields does the costumes?— she’s the same woman who did sex and the city. I love Debi Mazar she is everything. And Charles is adorable. They have extra insider episodes on demand-they’re fun to watch. Did you know that was Debi Mazar’s OWN switchblade in that one scene? And they do discussions on the fashions…I have to say I’m torn over Liza should be with…but am leaning towards Aasif he just seems like real sweetheart plus Charles has lots of baggage. Of course i’m not known for having the best picker 😝

  8. Your mom says:

    “OMG, am I basic?!?!?!”

    I love that show!!!!

  9. phatypopo says:

    I LOVE Younger!

Also, I went to Rise Nation this weekend and climbed 2700 feet in 30 min. She did 4500 in 40! That is INSANE! It’s a really hard class.

  10. Mrs. Ari Gold says:

I love Younger! I just discovered it a few months ago and I’ve binge watched every season. If you buy Season 4 on ITunes it comes with interviews with the cast for each episode. Those usually aren’t good for most shows but for Younger they are GREAT.

It’s nice to watch and support a female driven story, starring women as all of the main characters. It’s also nice to watch something that’s not dark, violent and cynical. It’s the only show that even after bingewatching, I don’t feel gross afterwards, like I just ate a Big Mac.

Where has Peter Herman been all my life? He is such a good actor and so dreamy and soulful. No wonder Tina Fey cast him as The Hair. I hope he gets a lot of good roles from this. He should have been a star like 15 years ago.

Debi Mazar is one of my favorite things about the show. I also love the NYC locations.

I’m not crazy about the Pauline character.

  11. Anon55 says:

Love it and was just wishing I had others to discuss it with! The actress who plays Liza (Sutton Foster, I think) is just perfection in that role. I do think it’s kind of weird that she and Charles have never really been on a proper date, but have all these lovey feelings for each other. But whatever…I love the show and Diana’s necklaces!
