It’s a little bit shocking to me that out of all of the guys I crushed on when I was a kid, Eddie Vedder would remain evergreen in so many ways. One, he was hot in the ‘90s and he’s still crazy-hot now. Two, he’s never really done anything deplorable at all. Three, he’s an advocate for reproductive rights. Four, he’s woke as f–k. He’s literally the coolest dad-rocker out there. Over the weekend, Eddie played a solo set at the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival in Tennessee. He spoke to the audience – and keep in mind, Tennessee voted for Trump – about North Korea and politics:
He told the audience he’d read that a nuclear missile fired from North Korea could reach his home in Seattle in 30 minutes, and he’d thought of his wife and his two daughters.
“What would you do? You’d scream at the sky and go, ‘What the f___? How could this f___ing happen?’ But at that point, that’s not gonna do any good whatsoever. And if I’m not gonna be on a stage for a while, I’m gonna say it tonight, here in Nashville. What the f___? Are you kidding us? Can you please stop? Just stop.”
“We all maybe need to raise our voices …” he continued. “We need to request and desire diplomacy. It’s something called diplomacy. It’s something called, you know, ‘outsmart your opponent.’ It’s called, ‘get them to do the thing that you want them to do, and have them think it was their idea.’ It’s called, ‘Quit f___ing with the lives of millions and millions of people.'”
The packed field on Harlinsdale Farm roared in approval.
“All right,” Vedder added. “Now that I think that we’ve gotten that out of the way, I think it’s gonna be a great night.”
He’s not wrong! And that’s not all. He also took a knee, because he is lovely and woke and I can’t believe I’ve been in love with Eddie Vedder continuously for like 23 years.

Love Love Love me some Eddie Vedder. Handsome, smart, cogent and thoughtful. Good on him!
I’ve been in love with him for aaaaaaages… glad to see my 12-year-old self had good taste in one thing!
Gorgeous man in every way.😍
I’m happy to read this! I’m dating myself here, but I have so many college memories with a Pearl Jam soundtrack. He’s awesome and seems lovely. And hot.
love pearl jam and eddie.. alive is still an amazing song. good for eddie.
Ugh, Eddie….still making my loins and brain quiver all these decades later! 🙂
One of the best men ever to exist. Loved him for 26 years now. HERO.
He‘s always been my least favourite out of the big four. But over the years I really started to like him. Also the other three are dead ):
:'(
What are you talking about? They are not dead and they are still better than him.
I’m guessing she’s referring to Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, and Layne Staley or Scott Weiland…
but see ….. the kneeling in protest has been usurped….Colin started this out of the racial inequities happening and police brutality, he and (we) would be kneeling even without trump….lets NOT forget people.
How has it been usurped? That is still what is it about, and it has recently been amplified.
I have no idea who this man is, but he sounds like a smart man, and he’s a cutie.
He is the lead singer of the legendary Seattle band Pearl Jam. Always been an amazing, woke ally. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH and i too have crushed on him since the grunge days! <3
I agree he’s always been woke. Now I’m having flashbacks to his long hair, big shorts days. LOL
Pharrell, Roger Waters and Dave Matthews also took a knee at that concert. Nice.
he has aged beautifully
He is my spirit animal. And he just is so yummy, he makes me moist like cake.
Stop using spirit animal…seriously. Especially in a a post about woke he is…clearly you aren’t.
Forevergreen dong. He makes me so proud to be a Gen-Xer from Seattle.
Yasssssss. *snaps for eddie*
I’m so glad he’s around.
*Honk for Eddie*
I have loved him for so long *sigh*
All those Seattle guts were/are cuties. I loved Seattle – pizza was amazing, such a great city too. Another lovely Seattle male is Duff from Guns n Roses. He seems like a really sweet guy. I think I need to move there!
Oh my gaahhhdd!!! Eddie is lush with a capital L! Lush machine, lush.com, lush-a-Rama. Intelligent to boot, oh my! He is a little piece of heaven right here on earth!
Aaaah, Eddie Vedder. Seems like a lovely man & his voice is just one of the best.
Like many of you, I’ve loved him for about 27 years too & still regularly listen to Pearl Jam – Nothing Man was playing in my car just a few days ago.
Nice to think about some good stuff during such shitty times.
My BFF and I saw them a few years ago – My favorite part of the show was when Eddie stopped it when he saw a couple of fathers on the floor/general admission section with their young children on their shoulders. I’m paraphrasing, but he said “Can we bring the kids over to the side of the stage? They’ll be able to see better, and Dad can have a break,”
That demonstrated to me such consideration for his fans, and astounding class. Love. Him.
As a 90’s teen Vedder was & remains THEE GOAT. He’s been the front-runner on my hypothetical “Top 5” forever. I know he technically qualifies for AARP since he’s over 50 but I still would…
He’s on my ‘list’, I had five but the other four turned out to be shits (Depp et al), if Vedder does anything nasty (which he won’t because he’s wonderful) it’s time to leave the planet.
A good friend of mine played at a show that he also played at a few years ago, and with all the people backstage trying to get his attention, she said he spent most of the time on the phone with his wife.
And he’s a Cubs fan. God I love this guy.
Just one word: SIGH. Eddie, if you read this, i love you. 😀
His movie scores are incredible – “Big Fish”, “Into the Wild”, “Dead Man Walking”, “Eat, Pray, Love”….he is brilliant.
