Billy Joel, 68, is expecting another child with his wife Alexis Roderick

A Bronx Tale Opening - Arrivals

Back in a gentler time, then-65-year-old Billy Joel found love with a then-33-year-old. Her name is Alexis Roderick and they got together immediately following the collapse of his third marriage to Katie Lee. In 2015, Alexis and Billy announced that they were expecting their first child together – Billy was and is father to Alexa Ray, who is just four years younger than Alexis. Alexis and Billy got married while she was pregnant then, in 2015, and they eventually welcomed a little girl, Della Rose. Well now Billy Joel is 68 years old, and he and Alexis are expecting their second.

There’s another baby on the way for the Piano Man! Billy Joel and his wife of two years, Alexis Roderick, are expecting their second child together, E! News can confirm. According to the singer’s rep, the baby is due in November. The singer broke the news when he introduced his expectant wife during an interview with The Belfast Telegraph.

“This one is pretty good,” he told the outlet of his 2-year-old daughter, Della Rose. “She sleeps through the night. I hope the next one will.”

Well… congrats to them. As I said in my previous coverage of Billy Joel, I don’t really feel like unloading on him. I think he was a mess for many years but he’s finally found some stability, and Alexis is probably a big part of that. Alexis isn’t a “celebrity” in any way – she’s just a normal woman, and I guess she wanted another baby (that’s the vibe I’m getting). Now, do I side-eye any and every man who feels the need to have babies past the age of 60? For sure. Oh well though. It’s their life. *hums “We Didn’t Start the Fire” as I exit the thread*

  1. i don't know her says:

IMO she does NOT look 35.
    SUNSCREEN get into it.

  2. Olive says:

He’s a 68 year old alcoholic NOT in recovery. He has no business making more children.

His wife isn’t that much older than his first child!

There are many reasons why this is creepy. Who would want to be a kid to a dad who is definitely old enough to be his grandfather and likely to be dead and gone by the time the kid hits middle school? Also, scientific studies have shown that sperm in men over 60 carries an increased risk of mutations and thus an increase in certain gene based disorders (schizophrenia, for example). ….and more issues I am sure others have thought of in this comment section (including the alcohol issue as above)….
The main counter argument is he’s done this already (had another kid in his 60’s) and his first kid needs a sibling, just as his young wife apparently needs children.
      Still creepy.

I would never begrudge anyone happiness, and I LOVE Billy Joel, but I do question all these men who choose to have kids so late in life. While I know they’ll be financially taken care of, they’re most likely not going to be the ones doing the usual “dad” thing with the kids (it is exhausting running around with a toddler lol), and will most likely not be around when their kids reach adulthood. And yes, I do know that there is no guarantee that any of us will be around tomorrow (and not just because of the Orange Cheeto).

Anyway, congrats to Billy and his wife. I hope it’s an easy, uncomplicated birth, and a healthy, happy baby.

    • Nanny to the Rescue says:

That was my thought too. Congrats to them, but he most likely won’t see his kid reaching adulthood, and I find that sad both for him and the child.

    • Rachel says:

Yeah I feel like this is something she wanted, and he did it to make her happy. But I can’t see him actively parenting. My parents are a couple years younger than he is, and there’s no way they could (or would want to) take on a baby, then a toddler, at their ages. In fact, over ten years ago, one of their classmates ended up having a menopause baby with his younger wife, and my mom made comments about having a baby at his age.

And Kaiser, my husband told me he heard an interview with Billy Joel in which he said he hates performing We Didn’t Start the Fire. My heart bled a little when he told me that.

  4. Cupcake says:

Gross. I hope Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood, etc. sent him a congrats card!

  5. DiligentDiva says:

The poor kids, how old will they be when he dies. That’s always my concern when older men have children. He’s almost 70, if he’s lucky he might make it to his child’s 18th birthday but not much further.

  6. JRenee says:

As we talk about father’s dying in their 20’s and 30’s in wars. There’s no setup that says when you have kids in your 20’s, 30’s you’ll live to see them grow in to adulthood.
I just hope he’s cleaned up his act and is an active parent.
As for the kids, I’m sure it was probably part of the deal marrying someone so much younger.
It’s not for me, but bless them all.

  7. Lizzie says:

that woman is no younger than 45.

  8. Kealeen says:

She looks like Ramona Singer from Real Housewives of New York.

  9. Beth says:

Ugh! By the time the kid is 20, he’ll be about to turn 90. The mother might be young and be around while the kids ages, but the father will be too old, sick, or dead to take part in his kids life. That’s kind of irresponsible when guys his age don’t think about the future or do this just so their young wives can have children

  10. Ash says:

As Alexa Ray watches her inheritance steadily dwindle . . .

  11. Ankhel says:

This idea of women’s looks is so skewered. She has barely a line, her neck is firm, her hair is shiny, and she looks sooo old apparently? I’m her age, and I don’t think I age better than she does. Women don’t look virginal until they’re 50.

    • menutia says:

I agree. The sunscreen comment? She is pale, not tan, and I see no wrinkles! My face has for sure matured. I can’t help that and neither can she.

    • Beth says:

Some of my friends in their 70’s look no older than late 40’s, early 50’s. Good moisturizer keeps skin firm and smooth, and good shampoo can make hair nice and shiny . Alexis looks older than she says she is

      • menutia says:

Genetics. Plain and simple. I have zero wrinkles, use dermatology clinic stuff and no sun exposure. I still don’t have the face of a 10-year-old. I look a wrinkle-free 33 like I am. I just don’t have a baby face anymore. I have no idea how old this woman truly is, though

    • Ange says:

I think that for 35 she has some rather deep lines in her cheeks, around her eyes and on her neck. That said she’s also quite thin and most hollywood ladies would look the same if they weren’t plumped up to high heaven. I’m 37 but bigger than her and I’m still very smooth.

    • Veronica says:

Heavy makeup always ages the face, IMO. That’s more the issue, if any. She also has strong marionette lines when she smiles, which tend to be associated with aging (even though plenty of us have them simply by nature of our facial structure 9_9).

  12. Bijou says:

Am I supposed to believe she isn’t lying about her age?

  13. Hunter says:

I know he’s all sorts of messed up, but can I just say, I can’t help but have love for Billy Joel? I truly hope these kids can be happy and healthy. That’s all.

  14. thaliasghost says:

I’d always advice the oldest children of these men to keep just close enough for the money but don’t get emotionally attached to the fathers. Usually, they were too busy with being famous when the children were young and then keep replacing them with younger kids.

  15. Ang says:

Gross and how embarrassing for his oldest child. I’m an only child and my dad is going on 66 . I could not imagine the idea of him having another child. @ his age. This woman is propably a gold digger cause there is no way he’s active in there children’s life.
