Busy Philipps’ daughter dressed like Busy for Halloween

Unlike Kaiser, I hold no apathy towards Halloween. Honestly, if we get out of August without at least preliminary discussions about our Halloween costumes, I panic. I’m addicted to playing make-believe. One of the great things about having kids is you get to fly your Halloween flag and everyone chalks it up to you being a great mom (ha!) Unfortunately, kids eventually form their own opinions on what they want to be, which kills the ‘family theme’ concept and your dreams of being The Addams Family are dashed.

Actress Busy Philipps’s oldest daughter, Birdie, went her own direction this year and it was glorious. Mother and daughter, who once dressed as corresponding Tinkerbells, were ‘twinned’ again as Busy herself. Busy admitted her acting career has taken a backseat to her more profitable Instagram career so Birdie compiled the perfect little ‘Instagram Busy’ ensemble – for Instagram, naturally:

I👏🏻Am👏🏻Dead👏🏻. 😂 😂😂😂

Obviously Birdie has the advantage over us by looking much like her mother to start. But looks aren’t everything, you need attitude to truly pull this off. So how did Birdie do? I’d say she nailed it, minus the purses:

I no longer am able to leave the house without lugging a minimum of 3 bags. 🤷♀️

My guess would be that Busy didn’t have to coach Birdie at all. Birdie’s probably seen her mother in this pose a thousand times and can snap into it on a moment’s notice. Busy wasn’t the only famous face among Birdie’s crew, her friends dressed as musician Skrillex and Evan Hansen from the play, Dear Evan Hansen.

This is so LA – I don’t even think my kids would know who these kids are dressed as and we live here. However, as someone who does know who these folks are, those costumes are great.

Since ‘Busy Philipps’ was already taken, Busy needed to come up with her own costume for her Halloween festivities. So she chose Hedwig from Hedwig and the Angry Inch and OMG – I can’t tell you how much I love this:

No one is listening to my songs. #hedwigandtheangryinch

CB sent me this article from last month from the New Yorker about Busy and her dominance in Instagram Stories. What was interesting is that she’d tried to get something going with Snapchat Stories and it just didn’t work for her. But her Instagram followers not only embraced her, they made her their queen. The angle of the article is that Busy is so popular because she’s so relatable, and I agree with that. But the article also stated that Busy turned down Kate Walsh’s role in Girls Trip in favor of a family vacation but yet, when Birdie asked Busy to not be so embarrassing on her Insta stories, Busy said, “I was, like, ‘No, buddy,’ This is me. I’m embarrassing. My mom embarrassed me in different ways. You’re gonna be fine. It’s unavoidable.” It sounds like Busy is banking more on her Insta stories than her career at this point maybe?

This is next level Halloween (craft) pumpkin carving. Thanks @michaelsstores and @thepumpkingeek! #ad

That’s sweet but honestly who’s going to recognize that costume? She’ll spend most of her time explaining who she is
